morning, john. good morning. and we are seeing a nice weekend out there for sure. lots of sunshine today, especially. >> all the way up to the coastline. we're seeing a lot of that sunshine right now. >> behind me, the golden gate bridge looks great. and let's take a look. even higher up from the top of mount tam. you do see that layer of haze. that's an inversion that is set up across the region. high pressure is built up. so all those pollutants from our drives to we're kind of getting trapped there with us. we will see something coming through this week that all out later today. and it doesn't involve a pretty strong sea breeze that kicks up after 02:00pm. that will result in improvement in air quality, but also a little fog at the coast. and some cooler temps come tomorrow as of right now, we're already in the 70's fairfield at 77 degrees. vacaville at 84 degrees. and it's just 09:00am. so we're warming up quick again, vacaville, you'll be in the 90's. most of us, 70 staties for your highs talking more as we reyna. all right, john, thank you for that. well, in that quiet morning with that accident after accident after accident. >> that another one. this is

along northbound 17, as you're traveling to los connell's right now. and we do have a bus crash involving several vehicles as well. all in relation to that accident. you see those drive times now at about 37 minutes as you're traveling from santa cruz up to 85. i think we do have some video of that same there, ok? so this is footage. so just by one of our kron, 4 reporters and you can see the bus involved in that crash there. look how damage the bus is there. now. it was involving multiple vehicles. you can see the fire crews and also emergency personnel on scene carrying folks away. we hope people are going to be okay. this is one of many accidents we've had throughout the morning. look at the hood of that car there completely damage by that accident. now other highways and bridges not seen major issues. that's the silver lining this morning. 60 minutes traveling into the city looking good on the bay bridge, san mateo bridge just short of 14 richmond center fell bridge around 9 and the golden gate bridge. 37, the tolls. 20 minutes reach is

back to you. thank you, reyna. and another story this morning. the traffic on northbound highway 101 in palo alto after that fatal crash. yeah, it was a big problem. proffers will tran was following it all morning long and talks more about what led up to >> always of northbound 101 through paulo. also at san antonio avenue reopen to the public. but for 4 and a half hours, it was shut down because of a fatal accident involving 3 vehicles. you can see traffic, no problems, but i'm sure the backup is going to take quite some time to clear out this all actually started at around 3 o'clock in the morning when according to the chp, they believe the driver of a red suv was simply drowsy behind the wheel, slams into a light pole right next to the freeway bounces off the light pole goes to the center lanes when he was rear ended at that point by the driver of a silver tsai on then the

driver of the red suv gets out of his suv. well, months later, a tractor slams into his red suv plows into him with his suv where he's underneath pushes the suv all the way to the right wall on the freeway. >> injuries so severe that he died at the scene. drugs, alcohol, not factors, just simply being tired at 3 o'clock in the morning. as far as the traffic, the chp obviously had to do measurements clean up all of the debris and the chp allowed caltrans to stay on the scene because they metering lights were damaged. they allowed caltrans to stay here to make repairs. all right. thanks a lot. well. >> well, communities across the bay area are going to be raising their pride flags today as we know in honor of lgbtq+. month and pride month in the whole communities could not without concerns. you know, the fbi has issued a

warning to everybody who's celebrating in crawford's. michael thomas is live in the newsroom with more. >> on that, michael. hey, good morning, everyone. that right, lots of talk about safety leading up to pride month. and there are multiple events that are happening today to kick off pride when it comes to being safe. while. >> officials are warning really that all major cities be on alert, saying that any pride event could be a target. later this morning at 11, the castro community will hold its first pride event with the changing of the pride flag and honor of pride month and over in oakland city officials will also be holding a pride flag ceremony at 11 30. this year's theme for san francisco pride is a beacon of love and it's filled with different events. almost daily leading up to the big parade at the end of june and federal law enforcement are warning that the lgbt community and its supporters be on guard saying that foreign terrorists and their u.s. based allies may be targeting lgbtq venues and events throughout this month, which could lead up to hate crimes or violence that we did speak with the san francisco

cal high yesterday in san ramon had to go into lockdown for several hours because there was a threat of explosives and a gunman on campus. a call came in around 10 o'clock yesterday after our morning. everything started a police specialty units showed up bomb-sniffing dogs and drones are out there checking to see if everything else ok. and in the meantime, the kids had to stay in their classrooms. >> we have to like block out the door us all the lights are turned off can all are not always the bathrooms norm. now, right? >> all the school shootings that have happened over the last couple years. yeah, that's what we always have. these lockdown drills as well. that's also also was a long happened. and then that's when found about the serious. >> it was serious. but luckily everybody is okay to find any explosives. the students were sent home. a police are going to continue to investigate to figure out who made these threats. >> in the south bay, the man arrested after an assault on a vta station there at a vta

station is now facing attempted murder charges. investigators have released surveillance video of what happened. we do want to warn you might be difficult to watch, but this is what happened at the vta children's discovery museum station. andrew perez, according to investigators, was wearing armored vest when he attacked that man at the top of the screen, throwing him to the ground. you can see present there just and here's a zoomed-in shot. this started punching and kicking the victim. the assault continued for some time. presidential ran off barricaded himself inside of his home before ultimately being arrested by police. the victim was only identified as a 45 year-old man. he was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries, including some pretty deep cuts that had need staples to close its in today, protesters plan to rally on the steps of the san francisco federal building in solidarity with the people of >> here's video from a protest that happened at that same location back in february. tonight's demonstration is at 5 o'clock. and this comes after an israeli airstrike

killed. 45 people in a tent camp late sunday night, the israeli government said it was a mistake, although they did kill, they say 2 hamas leaders, which is what they were going for, but they are investigating. now what went wrong? they don't want to kill civilians. this event is demanding that the u.s. imposed an arms embargo on israel for what's going on and then also the bexar, a mural program. our band is holding a fundraiser tonight. they want to raise awareness and continued support for the people and they're going through this. we're in gaza right now. they're going to be sharing our work of music and trying to just bring awareness about what's going on and get supplies with a fleet of boats to help the people in gaza. this event is at 6 o'clock to 10 o'clock tonight at the oakland location on san pablo avenue. >> a little big story that we're following this morning. donald trump has become the first former u.s. president to be convicted of a felony crime. he was found guilty of all 34 charges of paying hush

money to influence the 2016 election. basil, john is in new york city with this historic moment. history was made as donald trump was convicted by the new york jury for falsifying business records before the 2016 election. >> this can't be allowed to happen to other presidents. it should never be allowed to happen. former president donald trump says the fight isn't over after he was found guilty in the hush money trial that we're going to be appealing this. scam. trump is now the first former u.s. president to be convicted of a crime and now faces a possible punishment o 4 years in prison. new york district attorney alvin bragg calls this a huge win. we should all be thankful for the careful attention. that this jury paid to evidence and the law jury deliberations took place over 2 days as the verdict came down near the end of the second day. the only voice that matters is the voice of

the reports potentially that bus lost control, hitting multiple cars. you can see the damage right there. the hood of that car, all damage. so this has been going on for the past hour or so. look at those drive times there. this is right in los gatos, right near that cats exit the air. if are traveling to their familiar with the area, you know exactly where that is. so drive times now, 40 minutes from highway one all the way up to 85 because of that, we do know that lanes are open, but you do have several lanes are blocked as well. 15 minute ride for everybody traveling into the city this morning or other bridges and highways. 13 minutes on or san matteo bridge. well, one of the south bay, 38 remember about an hour. so we had a fatal traffic collision in palo alto that has been cleared. but we have residual delays. so still about 40 minutes, 82 to 80 still good options to on opiate 29 minutes. our users back to you. thanks a lot. 9.20, right now. we want to take you to petaluma to look at what happened at that egg farm that caught fire and

nobody hurt. no chicken turned either. but it was quite the scene for a while visible for miles around. kron 4 sarah stinson takes a look. >> smoke from the fire here at the pedal. luma egg farm could be seeing all the way down town which had some worried about the chickens and the farm workers. well, i just turned the corner and there was this shot. it looks like a monster. thankfully, no chickens were inside. everyone is okay. >> o that's good. that's really a large plume of smoke could be seen coming from a farm in the unincorporated part of petaluma. i just saw dark clouds like that. >> okay. there's no rain in the forecast. not sure about that. and then the next something came over my phone and then i knew a barn caught fire at petaluma egg farm on kavanaugh. a lane just after 2. >> the sonoma county sheriff's office used a helicopter to assist multiple fire agencies on the ground, putting out the flames and making sure the fire didn't spread. but the

post traumatic stress disorder is on the rise among college students. fact new research shows the diagnosis of ptsd is more than doubled between 2017 to 2022. >> as the coronavirus pandemic, by the way, swept the globe and this is kind of related. the healthy minds study found more young people are now struggling with the aftermath of traumatic events. doctors say the spike in ptsd is attributed to societal stressors like campus

shootings and ongoing social unrest and the sudden loss of loved ones due to the pandemic. >> former house speaker nancy pelosi along with san francisco mayor london breed and other city officials breaking ground on the newest building for the nonprofit united playaz. the organization was founded formerly incarcerated people who grew up in the soma neighborhood and now they're returning to their roots with their headquarters located in and you can see pelosi, she helped to secure 4 million dollars in federal funding for that project in calls it a full circle moment. >> this building will be to dispel. fear and isolation and restore it with hope and community. peace for people. >> the new space is going to be a center for kids to come after school. and during the

pressure. ridge oftentimes results in those inversions little bit of a hazy horizon. we're going to see less of that after today, though, for the rest of the weekend. part of the reason for that is that cool ocean breeze, which is really going to pick up after 02:00pm today making for a return of fog by tomorrow morning. and some cooler temperatures at that. right now. we're on our warmer trend, though. still, brett, what you're at 73 vacaville. it's still the morning and you're 84 degrees. berkeley, one of our cooler spots at 59 at the moment later today. most of us will be 70's to 80's couple spots still in the 90's, talking the rest of the weekend as we go right now. all right, john, thank you for that. lack in an accident along northbound 17. this is actually up in los gatos. we got video sent in to our newsroom. you can see this accident a bus. sounds like the bus actually lost control and then crashed into multiple vehicles. you can see one of the vehicles coming up in the video here. the entire hood of the car smashed in. and it sounds like 5 vehicles were involved in that crash. you

already see emergency crews on scene trying clear the bus and all those cars out the way. let's take a look at where this is. this is up in los connell's along highway 17, right at that cat exit. if you are traveling north, you can see the southbound side. also little slow in impacted because of that. but a 50 minute ride traveling from one all the way up to 85 k for those taking the other routes this morning. friday, light across the bridges. 13 minutes. looks like the meter lights are on slowing you down. 14 minutes on the san mateo bridge. richmond center fell bridge just short of 12 and the golden gate. 37 to the tolls. 21 minutes. james, back to you. thank you very much. rain tonight. 30 is the time for your money this morning. the state insurance commissioner now working on bringing insurance companies. >> back to the state. the governor is also weighing in with a proposal as well. although it's not gaining that much in terms of unanimous support. kron four's dan kerman to explain. with homeowners across the bay area and the state dropped by insurance companies, mostly due to fire risk.

>> the governor has proposed speeding up the review of insurance company rate hike requests to just 60 days. the time. >> is important. in terms of the rate decision making. and that's what we're promoting short-term step and continue to promote the larger package in partnership with the insurance commissioner. this is an important element. >> what needs to be a multi pronged fix so we can get back business in california. >> rex frazier's with the personal insurance federation of california, which represents large auto and home insurance companies in california. oftentimes it takes months and months before an insurance company even knows where it stands with the state. under this proposal, the state at 60 days and every 30 days thereafter they would have to declare where they stand on a rate filing that accountability. that's good for everyone. as the governor has proposed a plan that is not going to get homeowners access to more coverage and affordable price. but carmen bill burr with the group consumer watchdog thinks the

proposal gives away too much. what the governor has proposed will tie the hands of the insurance commissioner and reviewing rate hikes and cut public participants out of the process. and that is guaranteed to lead to higher unjustified rates for california homeowners. now it'll be up to state legislators to decide whether to include the governor's insurance proposal as it stands or change it when approving this year's budget. dan kerman kron, 4 news. >> 9.32 right now and take a look at this jewelry store in the east bay all boarded up after a dozen people robbed bindi jewelers on new park mall road. this happened wednesday afternoon. then yesterday they put up the boards. the thieves shattered glass display cases and made off with a bunch jewelry that make they got away multiple getaway cars, but nobody was hurt in that roberts. that's a good thing right now. police are piecing together exactly what happened.

>> a former bay area criminal college professor. and don't you know, that was his what you talk to kids about. >> he actually has been convicted now of arson and he's going to federal prison for it. gary maynard pleaded guilty to 3 counts of arson for setting a series of fires. the chef to train national forest in 2021. well, crews are battling the dixie fire. maynor taught criminology at sonoma state and its santa clara university's. >> 3 san mateo county deputies now recovering after they were injured. paula resting would be car thieves. so this happened wednesday night in a parking lot. just outside a cvs on san carlos avenue. deputies came across 2 men trying to steal a car that would be car thieves fought back as deputies tried to arrest him after calling for backup, both men were taken into custody. turns out the 2 were from morgan hill. they're now facing several charges. as for the injured deputies, they went to the hospital and they'll be ok. the search is now underway in palo alto, by the way, for burglars who broke into 2 homes while the residents were inside. so the

first break-in happened tuesday morning. it was on c police say woman in her 60's. no district door had been pried open from the outside. she thinks the burglar heard her and ran off because for she can tell nothing was taken in the second break-in, which happened wednesday morning in palo alto are on palo alto avenue. the woman who lives there told police she heard the front door open and then close. and then when she walked around to investigate, you discover phone and wallet were gone. she went outside, found lying on the sidewalk a few feet away from the house. police say the 2 break-ins at this point don't appear to be connected. >> it's 9.34, and kron 4. local election headquarters, san francisco mayoral candidate mark farrell says he has a plan to ease the cost of childcare in the city. now, the former mayor also says that mayor london breed isn't doing enough to fix the problem. we've got kron four's lets the good with the story. >> on thursday, mark farrell and now to plans to create universal health care for children in san francisco, adding that the city has been

slow and making progress in the childcare department problem is not a lack of funds. >> it's since simply a lack of leadership and accountability. voters approved the tax in 2018 dedicated for this. you specifically. but nearly 400 million dollars sitting unspent in city hall today. he's referring to proposition c. >> that pass and is aimed at giving early child care and education services for children up to 5 years old for low income families. but due to legal challenges that tax revenue cannot be spent until april of 2021. farrell says he has a plan to help struggling families faster. >> we will offer subsidies to help low and middle income parents and guardians of 4 local child care services, ensuring accessibility across all income levels here in our city for child care. will raise wages for childcare workers to address the shortage of qualified professionals. >> he says parents spend an average of nearly $40,000

between infant and preschool, karen mount. and if he's elected as mayor, he promises to change that state reimbursements failed to cover the true costs of this care, exacerbating the financial strains on families here in san francisco. >> that are still trying in many cases to recover from the covid-19 pandemic. and these early years or so critical. but mayor london breed's team says >> barrels idea. it's coming straight from her own child care. >> and early education platform and shared the following statement in a desperate attempt at relevance. mark farrell has been digging through the recycling bin outside mayor breed's office for his policy ideas and listed off what she says are her accomplishments, including that she doubled the number of children receiving early care and education subsidies annually from 6,000 to 12,000 in just 5 years, adding that the also cut the waitlist for subsidized early
