those who live in district 10 and they must meet certain qualifications to shop here. and the criteria is also that you have some some form of medicare out how fresh, you know, you're low income and you qualify for that kind of services. >> and they're also looking for people that really are in need you. you've had a hard time. this is kathy davis, executive director of baby eve, senior services. and they have been contracted to run the market. kathy says, depending on the success of the market, they could at more days for shoppers. new to this and knew to happen. so many people coming. we've been doing it once a week. now we're going to do it twice a week starting next week. and then by the end the month, we hope to be able 3 weeks 3 times a week. and so we have to gear up and get more food. and longtime neighbor can sondra who is raising her great granddaughter is one of the first people to shop at the market. she tells me it's a relief to have access to fresh you know, well, it helps raise.

released. and as we approach national gun violence awareness day, which is tomorrow, attorney general rob bonta says california is making progress trying to keep guns out of the hands of the wrong people. our capitol correspondent eytan wallace has more on what he had to say. >> well, attorney general rob bonta is specifically talking about the ability of a court like this one to take away guns from someone the judge believes could be a threat. the attorney general says that has made the state safer, but not everyone agrees. >> enough is enough. that's attorney general rob bonta. the message on the issue of gun violence, all of it in a state where on average more than 3,000 people die of gun violence every year and in a country where as of 2023 more than 42,000 deaths were attributed to guns. the united states. has a uniquely american disease of gun violence that all can be changed. change he says is happening in california in

part due to what are known as court issued protective orders when a judge can either restrict or prevent someone from owning a gun. if the court finds that person to be violent, abusive or dangerous, removing the fire arms from people who are in danger. others is a critical way to stop shootings before they are up and it's completely common sense. this new report released by the attorney general shows in 2023 statewide. there were a total of 288,000 court issued protective orders representing a 20% increase since 2020 bonta believes that has helped keep california's gun mortality rate. 40% lower nation's. we have reduce gun violence because of these protection orders. the problem is they have all these gun laws, but they don't work because the fundamental problem is you have to have deterrence for people who violate gun laws. assembly member billa say lee says already has some of the strictest gun laws on the books. he says he introduced bills to increase penalties for people who use guns

illegally. but he notes those bills failed with no support from bonta and the democratic super majority at the state capitol. we had it simply bill, 30 37, which would have restored the firearm enhancement. it would havy said that if you use the gun in the commission of felony, you get 20 years at a two-year sentence. he did not support it. and in fact, the democrats in this body rejected the bill. so that's why i don't take them seriously. i don't believe them when they say they care about gun violence, they care about getting guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens. that's what they care about. and bonta was very clear. he wants other states to do california is doing on gun violence, protective orders. he believes that could save lives. reporting at the state capitol. eytan wallace kron. 4 news. well, take a look at brentwood police say that these 4 women stole more than $2000 worth of products from an ulta beauty store. >> this is on may 6th at the store on sand creek road. it is the first tioe that the store has been targeted either. back in january.

and what is not to love. we've had so much heat so much in way of blue skies. and finally. >> things are taking a turn for the cooler and that suits a lot of people, not everyone love that hot temperatures but right now we're at 55 half moon bay. 61, oakland and livermore still hanging on it. 82 degrees pretty soon by this evening. we will say goodbye to the excessive heat warning that was through the central valley and even into solano county. we will say also goodbye to the heat advisory that's been affecting the north bay, the east bay, the south bay, because temperatures are cooling down. there's a northwest swell and we've got the the swell coming in from the west as well as the northwest and the hazardous conditions at the beach are subsiding. so we have some big breaking waves. there's still a risk of enormous rates coming if you're walking down the beach, always be careful. but in terms of winds having some sea breeze is coming in and that is certainly changing things. those future wind gusts will will die down overnight and
