still on his side. will be exonerated just remember, you what happened to sets a precedent. a lot of people are trying to say that trump is a felon, but actually it was a kangaroo court in a banana republic. trump protesters also showed up. the felon in chief is visiting some of these people. talk about law and order constantly or kissing up to biggest criminal in the entire country. it's civil, but there were some tense moments between the 2 >> the rally began hours earlier in the marina with hundreds of people gathering weaving around their trump flags and wearing their maga hats. >> and tickets to this fundraising event ranged in price from them reportedly cost $50,000 per person. 500 up to $500,000 per couple. meanwhile, some of the most

diehard fans and supporters of trump right here on the streets of san francisco. i'm sara stinson reporting live back to >> all right, sarah, thank you. the chair of the san francisco democratic party is denouncing trump's a fundraiser in the city. nancy tung writing in part, quote, people can throw their money away on a convicted felon who cares nothing about the american people are actually work with real leaders like joe biden to solve the issues of the day. san francisco democrats look forward to working with president biden for the next 4 years to move san francisco and america forward and quote, a state supreme court ruling will allow uc berkeley to move ahead with student housing. >> at people's park, the project has been facing pushback from protesters who say it will add noise pollution to an already dense area. the high court ruled today a new law enacted last year invalidates their claim. the court also noted that berkeley provides housing to the lowest percentage of students compared to other schools in the uc system.

people's park is a historic site that's been at the center of protests against the vietnam war and counterculture movements. people who live by the park say they're not surprised that the court sided with the school and they are disappointed that the park will be gone. >> i'm a mother. my kid has grown and art, it's not just about housing is also about the environment and green space. it's about history and a community gathering space. >> as you can see here, people's park is surrounded by stacks of shipping containers blocking off the view of the park. and there are also security guards at every corner. uc berkeley is planning to house 1100 students in this 312 million dollar housing complex. the school tells kron 4. they're pleased with the court's ruling and they're looking forward to construction. >> clouds and fog are moving through the golden gate bridge at this hour. still, the visibility is not too bad. we're seeing a big change in

near sand creek road. they say 2 windows were broken and had spray painted messages calling on the church to stop investing in corporations, including meta apple, jp morgan, amazon and google. >> another mountain lion spotted in san jose. this is now the 4th signing in just the last week. the latest one happening today in the area. kelly park near story road. and last night a mountain lion was spotted relaxing on the sidewalk before making its way through some backyards. >> the hero, one person gave us oh, yeah. and then out there that, you know, please come into like a things with that. own pocket to that house. >> officials are warning residents of what you can do in case you encounter a mountain line. make sure to stay calm. do not run. stand your ground make eye contact and try to appear as large as possible. they also say you should call police immediately.

>> after a truck fire caused a traffic nightmare for commuters earlier this week, crews say they will be partially closing the eastbound caldecott tunnel for several nights this week. caltrans says the left bourke connecting orinda to oakland on highway. 24 will be closed from 10:00pm monday night until 4.30, tuesday morning to clean up the so it left from the fire. the closure will be repeated each site until cleanup is complete. >> sheng thao is defending her record as oakland's mayor. this after the group looking to recall her said it has had it has enough signatures to force a recall election. among the reasons for the recall, losing the oakland a's along with firing a popular police chief and a surge in crime. but the mayor says the city is headed in the right direction. >> no matter what, you know, naysayers say or, you folks who are trying to recall you know, i think at the end of the day we were able to reduce crime by 33% overall crime

across the board, right? we're doing what we know. make sense. we're do. we're making progress. oakland is turning a corner in lists. reminded many of these issues has started way before my tenure. and so within that short one and a half year that we've been in office, we've done so much already in west oakland, in east oakland. and so i know that we're stronger together and i floor everybody that we should work together to ensure that we have a better and say for oakland from. >> those signatures still need to be verified backers. the recall are hoping to have this election scheduled for november. if the mayor is recalled, a special election will need to be scheduled to pick her replacement. >> new report says california is making progress and keeping guns out of the hands of people deemed to be violent, abusive or dangerous. the report released today by attorney general rob bonta shows from 2020 to 2023. there's been a 20% increase in the number of court issued gun violence, protective orders in california. bonta believes the

orders helped keep the state's gun mortality rate 40% lower than the nation's but republican assembly member say leave says he doesn't take bonta seriously as he is not supported other bills to increase penalties for people who use guns illegally. >> assembly bill, 30 37, which would have restored the firearm enhancement. it would have said that if you use the gun in the commission of felony, you get 20 years at a two-year sentence. he did not support it. and in fact, the democrats in this body rejected the bill. so that's why i don't take them seriously. i don't believe them when they say they care about gun violence, they care about getting guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens. that's what they care about. >> bonta hopes other states will do what california has done on gun violence, protective orders. the report also says more than 3,000 gun-related deaths take place every year in the state as of 2023, more than 48,000 people died of gun violence across the country. still ahead, the calls for more police presence at

surrounding the a's tonight. yeah, this time over how many games the team will play in that new yet to be built. still be financed stadium in las vegas kron four's dan kerman reports. >> the oakland a's haven't broken ground on their new 1.5 billion dollars baseball stadium in las vegas. and once again, they've created controversy over what baseball insiders say is something common proposing in their lease agreement that a number of home games be played somewhere other than the new vegas stadium. all of these agreements, including the one we did in miami. you have to allow for a certain number of games to be played. >> outside of that stadium because mlb maintains that every team will play internationally at some point, former miami marlins president david samson says where these tripped up >> was requesting as many as 7 out of vegas home games when force more appropriate. he also called out as president dave capital for telling a nevada newspaper playing home games elsewhere helps build

the team's brand and attract players. i news flash. you want to be more attractive to free agents. you offer them a dollar more than any of the other. 29 teams. that's how you're attracted to free. agents are taken games away. >> from your public and you haven't even played there yet. i don't know what the logic is. former a's executive andy dolan says whatever the intent the a's have made a bad pr move, especially when it comes to attracting new fans in las vegas. what people are reading those that might not be big. baseball fans as you're taking money away from us. >> importantly, you're taking games away from us. don't you want us to support your team? do you want us to become engaged in all of your activities? but you're going someplace else. >> the a's have already announced once the lease expires in oakland this year, they'll play at this minor league ballpark in sacramento until their new vegas stadium is built. some of suggested the home games controversy is a way to take the biggest

deal. but the a's denied that. and baseball insiders say that's unlikely. there's all sorts of ways you can do it. but number of home games played in the new ballpark. >> that is not even in the top 20 ways that you would try to either negotiate a deal or negotiate not to have a deal. the a's maintain its not unusual to ask for as many as 7 home games to be played elsewhere. again, baseball insiders say it is and they say it's likely the stadium authority will only grant them for every other year. dan kerman kron, 4 news. the corral fire that forced evacuations near tracy earlier this week is now at 100% containment. >> it's burned 14,000 acres since it started saturday afternoon. crews are now looking into what caused this fire and the crystal fire in napa county now at 90% containment, 60 acres burning. the fire started yesterday afternoon near saint alina. 4 firefighters are in the hospital right now for

taking a live look at the bucky ball tonight on the embarcadero. it's a little cooler. this event that today. just what i want to drop off windy and cold. we had fog clouds out there. kathy trafton here. she's got a little bit more detail. hi, kathy. >> yeah, hi. you know what? it very interesting sculpture that buckyballs culture. >> but the temperatures certainly have taken a dive party because high pressure has moved away because low clouds and fog are starting to move in our direction. everything is sinking up. so here's what's going on. here is bucky ball and it is a tribute mention to buckminster fuller. he's the inventor and futurist who invented the geodesic dome. temperatures outside in san francisco right now. 52 degrees. many areas in the 50's. and if you're in the 60's livermore, still 68 degrees. santa rosa. 55. and yet to our east, some areas are still in the low 90's, 90 for fresno at this hour.

nevertheless, the national weather service has cut back the excessive heat warning that's been in effect last few days. still in the san joaquin valley and for us, the heat advisory that's been with us the last few days for the north bay, the east bay, the south bay that is set to expire at midnight so that reflects the big changes. you know, what else set to expire? that is the hazardous beach statement for dangerous surf. the concern includes speculation concerned about large. unexpected waves smashing against the beach. so that is expiring. we're left with tranquil conditions. low temperatures overnight in the 50's pretty much everywhere across the bay area. temperatures tomorrow continue that cooling trend. a few areas in the upper mid 80's like annie up. 85, many areas in the 70's 60's and even the 50's. i have the 10 at 10 forecast and that's coming up. >> all right, cathy, thanks a lot. after decades of helping families in their search for

continue the annual of g b t q plus tradition. officers say the flag symbolizes diversity and inclusion within their department. meantime, pepper under way to once again place. the pink triangle on twin peaks. this summer marks the 29th time. the installation will glow during pride month. the triangle was used by nazis decades ago to identify men. now each year, san francisco reclaims that symbol to commemorate people in the lgbtq+ community who have faced discrimination several 100 volunteers are working to install that triangle on saturday. it will set high above san francisco for the entire month of june. >> enjoy it's there to it's a giant in your face educational tool. that's really why it's because people don't know what thing triangle needs. so it's super sized up on the twin peaks of people driving by on the freeway over the bridges were safe. what is not and then the looking up and go. so that's what it is.

out to the radisson hotel for comment, but so far we have not heard back. the hotel is set to shut down soon and be converted to affordable housing. >> alameda city council has stopped a controversial climate project. it would have had scientists inject salt into the clouds. the project aimed to offset the effects of global warming. scientists say the salt would brighten the clouds increasing their reflection of sunlight and reducing the amount of heat absorbed by the water below plans to start those experiments in alameda have been in the works since earlier this year. under the watch of scientists from the university of washington. but the city intervene this week. >> staff and in the city didn't know anything about these experiments until we learned about it from a new york times article, the that the experiment began and that was in late march of this year. so after hearing from

>> now at 10, 30 murder near dolores park is a san francisco supervisor asking police to step up its presence in the area just after 10:00pm. last night, a 19 year-old was shot and killed on delores street. >> it's you know, this is this is a park that does have some public safety challenges. it is just really a pretty safe place and a wonderful place come. we can't live in fear, but people should be aware of their surroundings. >> supervisor mandelman says the teen was found with multiple gunshot wounds. no suspect description. tonight, anyone with information is asked to call police. >> police in toledo have arrested a man in connection with a shooting that killed a woman and sent another man to the hospital. police say that shooting happened last month along redwood parkway in front

breezy. so here's what's going on. this is a beautiful view from mount tam, a pious doesn't look just a little bit like a painting. it looks calm. it looks tranquil, but you'll notice we have some fog and clouds moving in from the pacific ocean right to us. and guess what? the temperatures have really dropped compared to yesterday at this hour, as many as 15 degrees cooler. that's in fairfield. a dozen degrees cooler in santa rosa down 10 in livermore, 13 in concord, 7 nevado even 4 degrees cooler in san francisco today compared to yesterday. temperatures then right now, where do we stand? mainly in the 50's and 60's? there may be a few outlying areas still lingering in the 70's, but not many pittsburgh. 74 degrees at this hour. it's only 58 and that is not a gift to the firefighters. after fighting the fires last couple of days. finally, mother nature has really helped out. and yet to our east, it is still hot. low 90's right now

from fresno to bakersfield. so the national weather service has cut back on the excessive heat warning that's been in effect. he was even affecting solano county. now this is set to expire by 8 o'clock on friday. you see all that magenta color, southeast california, into the san joaquin valley. the excessive heat warning continues. but you know what's not going to continue. that's the heat advisory that's been in effect last few days for the north bay, the east bay, the south bay, because the temperatures are dropping its no longer needed. you know, what else is no longer needed. this is the hazardous beach statement that is about to expire. that's at midnight. the concern, of course, was big breaking waves, dangerous surf and the possibility of strong powerful winds sweeping across beaches with no provocation with no warning. what's going on with the weather will high pressure has moved slightly to our east and that's what's relaxing the

atmosphere. we're actually under the influence gassed there. i said of some low pressure so that means we're going to have cooler conditions as we head through the weekend. and then look, here comes another area of high pressure there. it is just getting in and ready for us for beginning of next week. so come monday, tuesday, wednesday, that area of high pressure is really going to affect us and temperature wise. you see that little u shape turn for the inland temperatures. you'll see again, as we start to head to the early part of next week, things take a change. so temperatures for tomorrow, a little bit cooler again compared to yesterday and today and then that 7 day, actually the 10 day and a 10 day. i love that and i landed 10 shows that little real acosta, very mild. real work has to dip temperatures for the weekend. look say ok to cooling off. i thank you, kathy. >> today marks 80 years since soldiers stormed the beaches of normandy, france eventually bringing an end to world war.

2 in the south bay. people spent the day paying tribute to the veterans who showed courage and bravery on june 6th 1944, the moffett field museum is showcasing d-day artifacts in a special immersive exhibit commemorating the d-day landings. >> you know this. this is a a phenomenally important event. and world history, not just american history. what we have here is a series of mini vignettes are dioramas the represent anything from the airborne operations that were conducted the night of day with a morning of d-day, a medic displays. we have a world war, 2 jeep here we have a number of artifacts. >> the exhibit is open through saturday. a free grocery store now open for people facing food insecurity. >> and the city's bayview neighborhood. it's called the district 10 community market and it welcomed more than 80 people for its grand opening. the market is open to everyone living in the area, but they also have to meet several qualifications. >> the criteria is also that

bell. my first time i came here. francisco travelers like abdul say they got an unexpected history lesson at the harvey milk terminal discovering how in 1977 harvey milk became the first openly man elected to public office by winning a seat on the san francisco board of supervisors just a year before his assassination. and these highlighting moments are special for activists. allen klein, who worked with harvey in the 70's telling me the terminals tribute in education on the walls still shock him. a terminal at san francisco airport named after is kind of amazing photos on the wall in the terminal. have clients friends protesting any still remembers when harvey asked him for help almost 50 years ago, called me up you had a successful. >> then if the you need to break, let's do to raise money to fight the brakes initiative which he helped defeat. he says the castro was a place of community where everyone knew your name. >> harvey was a politician. he
