i don't know. i thought maybe one of them fell down and couldn't get up. well, obviously, it was louise. she couldn't get up with -- with dan on top of her. ohh! >> when fun time from the bay area's local news station. you're watching kron. 4 news. >> now at 10, a victim of a deadly shooting has been identified tonight after a fight broke out at lake berryessa. thank you so much for joining us here tonight on kron. 4 news. i'm justine waltman. there was a violent and chaotic scene that broke out saturday night at lake berryessa. one man shot and killed several otheo people were stabbed. the napa county sheriff's office has now made one arrest. kron 4 sarah stinson has the story. >> a large fight broke out

between 2 groups at lake berryessa saturday obviously the shooting. >> it was stabbings and punches. so there pardons involved, injured. >> napa county sheriff oscar ortiz describes the scene as chaotic at the oaks shores day use area. deputies responded to the west shore around 5.30 and found a man who had been shot administered cpr to attempt lifesaving measures. >> fortunately, they were unsuccessful. so that person was pronounced at the the sheriff says 2 people were also found with stab wounds and taken to the hospital during the fight. a man grabbed a gun from his car and shot and killed. a 39 year-old man from vallejo. the victim has been identified as andres fabienne sandoval garcia. the alleged shooter then drove off. the sheriff says when deputies found the man just north of the lake. >> he had stab wounds and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. his condition is improving.

>> mention we're hoping to be able to become the jail. the coming days. detectives spent hours at the scene talking with witnesses trying to figure out what led up to the fight. the sheriff says several agencies helped with the investigation, including the sonoma county sheriff's helicopter because don't get a lot of homicides in county >> have a a protocol in place where we activate the major crimes task force, which is really detectives from every city in the county, every law enforcement agency and the district attorney's office and the highway patrol ortiz says this is the county's 4th homicide of the year. >> the sheriff says while there has been one arrest, there could be more. they're still talking with people who witnessed. >> the fight and he's hoping that anyone with video will send that to the sheriff's office. i'm sara stinson reporting in napa county kron. 4 news. >> crews contained a 50 acre vegetation fire pittsburgh today after flames spread from a nearby apartment building. fire according to contra costa fire. this fire started just

before 5 today. a video showing us the flames and also the smoke rising from a grass field right near san remo courted john henry johnson parkway. officials say now that fire is fully contained and no injuries reported. some developing news tonight after divers recovered a missing fisherman's body from the san joaquin river this weekend. according to the san joaquin county sheriff's office, a volunteer diver along with the fisherman who was on the boats with this victim back in may found tommy clark's body near river islands and bath prop a saturday afternoon that volunteer divers saying the clark was found almost a mile from where he drowned. we'll have more on how clark's family is coping with this tragedy in a story coming up at 10:30pm, tonight. a kite surfer rescued off of davenport landing in santa cruz county today after becoming stranded in the video. you can see if you look

closely there. >> the word help spelled out in the sand. he was spotted because of that by a private helicopter who then called 9-1-1. firefighters say he used rocks to spell out h e l p they say in the end he did that need medical help. and now to our 4 zone forecast as we take a live look outside here at the bay bridge. we have kron four's gayle ong in the weather center with a look ahead towards this upcoming workweek. first we are dealing with the fog tonight and the morning. so let's take a look at the golden gate bridge. >> the usual picture here and temperatures right now. we're sitting cooling in the low 50's over in san francisco san jose. you are in the low 60's and half and they also in the low 50's. so here is what i was talking about. you can see 0 visibility in san francisco in half bay and hayward. and it looks like it will stay that way and told the overnight hours. so keep that in mind for your early morning commute. this is 05:00am now

santa rosa nevado concord livermore and even hayward. expecting 0 visibility during those times that in your early morning things start to mix out in them. early morning here and then by the late morning things start to clear out there. so just keep that in mind we have a little bit of a breeze right now as well. so expect a breezy conditions to continue through the night. that should come down tomorrow and then we have changes on the way starting tomorrow. another warm-up 90's inland and a heat advisories on tuesday. back to you. all right, thanks, gayle. several sideshows took over streets in san francisco. one of them started a fire right near the embarcadero. >> police say this first sideshow happened just after 2 o'clock this morning near bar cairo and washington streets. video from the citizens app showing cars circling around a fire as fireworks were

shooting off at that intersection. fire crews had to weave through all that traffic to get to the area. officers say once they got there, that group started to disperse. and less than an hour later, police responded to a second sideshow on valencia and cesar chavez streets. officers say they found a building vandalized in that area, but no arrests have been made. in the south bay. a man is now in custody tonight after a shooting that happened right near police officers in san jose. officers responded to this apartment near wearing drive and kyle moore avenue after they got reports of a man throwing items out of a window at about 9 when police arrived. they say the man started to fire a shot in the direction of officers. they then say he barricaded himself inside of the apartment before jumping out of a window and that man was eventually taken into custody. the investigation is ongoing. and now that he's out of the hospital, the homeless man attacked at a vta stop in the

san jose is fearing for his safety and for other people who live on the streets. kron four's jack molmud sat down with the victim to learn what changes he wants to see to prevent another attack. so some of the guy like. >> from behind the fight for my bryant, couldn't see guy walks past me. there's a little fake walk and it turned right back around and knocks me. >> great san jose native christian chandler with remembers how he had to fight for his life on the vta platform right outside the children's discovery museum. our fighting back. >> would have fighting for i was on the ground, but i'm like defending myself. christian spent 10 days in the hospital. >> he's back out now and is just as confused as the day he was attacked. why did i get back >> but the children's discovery museum. in broad daylight. did the right happened me? i don't. >> police did arrest the alleged vta attacker. 26 year-old andrew perez. he liked

>> and unlike took a breather for a couple of things. and then like went back to that this is a medical respite here in south san jose. and this is where christian is staying while he recovers and navigates these next couple weeks face the reality that he's going to have to return to homelessness. we did talk with other. >> homeless residents staying on the street. and they tell me that they also feel concerned with taking public transit in the city. there's a group for people who do that. residents living in rv's near the homeless resource centers say. >> random attacks are part of daily life being on how you can see what's going on. but he ever targeted you ever yes, sir. yes, on the bus. i you get threatened and you get things thrown at you and these in-house people here and christian argued everyone would be safer. >> with more security for public transit, it was like a ghost town that that will be for like 3 minutes like in in. there's nobody around >> san jose, jackie moment kron, 4 news. >> we did reach out to the vta and asked them if they are discussing the possibility of more security on public transit. we're still waiting to hear back. and in the

meantime, san jose police tell us they will check in with the detectives tomorrow to see if there are any updates on this case said when we get them, we'll let you know. >> happening tomorrow night, the caldecott tunnel will be partially close. groups are saying they're going to close one bore of the eastbound tunnels from 10 o'clock monday night until 4.30, tuesday morning. so they can clean up the soot. it was left behind after that truck fire from last week. that fire caused. >> a traffic nightmare for commuters that was on tuesday and they're trying to clean all up tomorrow. residents celebrating juneteenth and pride month at a festival in pinole today. >> this was the second year of the celebration. it was held that fernandez park live music there face painting arts and crafts and performances by a local dance studio. there were even some free mom hugs available. the celebration started by then mayor devin murphy and he was the first black openly and youngest mayor. it can history. now to

>> a suspect in sacramento's deadliest shooting was found dead in his jail cell. this is according to the sacramento county sheriff's office. deputies. we're conducting a cell check when they found 29 year-old smiley martin unresponsive. deputies began lifesaving efforts, but he died at that jail saturday morning. a civil rights advocate who has beenn supporting the families on both sides of this violence say this was not the outcome than anyone wanted. going to court and being there day in and day out. it's emotionally charged. obviously comes with a lot of emotions on all sides for every single person involved. >> everyone loses. and this is no winners. everyone has lost. and now this is just yet another loss. it remains unclear how martin died. the investigation is ongoing. >> that shooting on k street in sacramento happened in april of 2022. 6 people were killed. a dozen others were injured. martin was facing

that in mind. things will mix out around 8.30, and the afternoon. so just keep that in mind because we have more changes on the way we have breezy conditions tonight as well, especially in the east bay. we could see winds in the 20 to 30 miles per hour range. but winds will calm down tomorrow morning and we have that ridge of high pressure on the way that will be warming us up once again. so monday, the started the week will starting that warm up. but tuesday, we have a heat advisory all day for our interior valleys and mountains. so if you are sensitive to the heat tuesday, looks like one of the hottest days of the week. so overnight lows will be in the upper 40's low 50's. just keep in mind. we have the clouds overnight and into the morning and we will be warming up to the low 90's. so not as hot as we were last week, but still pretty warm as you make your way towards concord and livermore. so expecting 90 degrees there. santa rosa, upper 80's, 79 degrees for you in napa and

60's over by san francisco and a purse. upper 50's low 60's by the beaches happened a pacifica. and as you make your way to the south bay looks like low 80's. so here's that 7 day outlook and you can see tuesday inland looks like the 90's. and then we start to cool down on thursday and next weekend it looks like we will be warm close to 90 degree weather inland. but yes, a lot of sunshine this weekend. so just make sure if you're sensitive to the heat once again. you know, we've been through that before last week much hotter. just keep that in mind. we've got enroll thanks. good. you're welcome. some developing news tonight as we're learning the rescue of 4 hamas held hostages did come at a price. >> more than 200 palestinians are now said to be dead. a key member in the israeli war cabinet has also now resigned. it's been nearly 2 weeks since president biden unveiled a 3 phase ceasefire plan, which

israel says it agreed to a now mediators, one hamas leadership to respond. and in the meantime, we're learning some more details about saturday's rescue and the role that the u.s. played news nation's alina show. ross reports. >> gaza's health ministry reporting over 270 palestinians were killed and hundreds more hurt in the israeli raid that rescued 4 hostages held by hamas. while the death toll has not been independently verified. associated press reporters on the ground witness, dozens of bodies being removed from the area, including medics described the aftermath as now the white house and lawmakers are reacting to the palestinian casualties. >> the united states will support israel and taking steps to try to rescue hostages who are currently

being held in harm held by hamas. and we will continue to work with israel to do that. we will also continue to reinforce the point that all of their military operations, including hostage rescue operation, should take every precaution to minimize the amount of civilian harm. now we can take. >> at face value what hamas as to the supposed gaza ministry of health. but my advice to them would be if you don't want your people killed in hostage rescue missions and you shouldn't take hostages in the first place. >> the u.s. has confirmed it provided intelligence to support in the rescue efforts but left it up that due to security reasons. the basic bottom line here is straightforward to bring into this war to get the hostages home to get. >> the full scope of humanitarian aid to the palestinian people in a safe and effective way. we need this deal and all of the people all over the world and united states and in countries everywhere who have been calling for a cease-fire, need

to train their attention on hamas and put the pressure on because this is the way to resolve this issue. >> all right. take a look at this in a move that sounds like it sounded like a tv show or cartoon series here. north korea has now sent more than 1000 trash filled balloons over the border. some of them are filled the newer toilet paper. cigarette butts reportedly doing this after south korean activists sent about a dozen balloons filled with some drives of the k-pop music and anti kim jong flyers. so in retaliation, south korean officials have now set up speakers with some anti north korean messaging that's being shared right near the border. and there are concerns that back and forth balloon sending could escalate into military action. still to come here, dramatic video tonight after a massive landslide shuts down in the sport highway.

>> after more than 80 years, closed forever. that horse - racing track opened in 1941, it's closing is coming as golden gate fields has been surrounded in controversy throughout its years. there have been many horse deaths at the facility. the owners of the track say they will be moving. the horses now to southern california and today we caught up with one man who wanted to take in the history of the track one last time before it closed. >> i have never been to golden gate fields. i heard it was. i got a buddy to live. we need store over here come. see where cbs see this around.

>> the owners of golden gate fields put out a statement saying in part here, the closure and final day of racing at golden gate fields reflects the ongoing and complex economic challenges of the thoroughbred racing industry in california. >> we have been proud to be part of the legacy of golden gate fields we look forward to working with stakeholders to create a sustainable future for racing in california. the body recovered by the san joaquin river has now beacon been confirmed to be a boater named tommie clark. he went missing nearly 2 weeks ago. his friends identifying the body while they were out searching with volunteer divers reporter kimberly cruz spoke to clark's family and the volunteer diver who found him. >> i don't think i could describe my dad in just a few words. leahy was so loving, so carrying some understanding it was my everything. >> my dad between tiers,

affect the outcome of an already very tight race. emily finn has the story. >> tuesday only are there bills. the republicans in their quest to elect? >> donald although that sounds like president biden, it's not with the use of ai technology rapidly rising in popularity, voters are growing increasingly concerned about capabilities to influence the upcoming presidential election. a new survey from the center for countering digital hate finds ai enabled tools created false statements, mimicking voices of politicians without security guard rails. 80% of the time the cc dh tested out 6 different ai programs creating voice recordings almost identical to how president biden and former president trump's sound and found there were few if any safety features to prevent such activity. the center's ceo shining a light on how easy it can be to create political misinformation, saying virtually anyone can use these types of ai tools earlier this year during the new hampshire primaries, a

robo call using a manipulated biden voice, encourage voters to stay home on election day. it won't a difference november. not just tuesday, the attempts to decrease voter turnout resulted in steve kramer, the man behind the scheme facing 13 charges of felony voter suppression and misdemeanor impersonating a candidate. the fcc fined him 6 million dollars and ultimately bans the use of ai and phone calls and television ads after the new hampshire primary incident. that was emily finn reporting. also, president biden. >> meeting with the french president emmanuel macron in paris today. the president spoke briefly about the rescue of the 4 israeli hostages on the gaza strip. he did not go into detail about how u.s. intelligence agencies may have aided in that effort. but he did say that the u.s. does not plan to stop until all the hostages are home. another goal for the biden administration is to show europeans how serious the president takes the threat russia poses to the entire

70 say they never could have imagined for some. the name harvey milk doesn't ring a bell. my first time i came here. francisco travelers like abdul say they got an unexpected history lesson at the harvey milk terminal discovering how in 1977 harvey milk became the first openly man elected to public office by winning a seat on the san francisco board of supervisors just a year before his assassination. and he's highlighting moments are special for activists. allen klein, who worked with harvey in the 70's telling me the terminals tribute in education on the walls still shock him. a terminal at san francisco airport named after is kind of amazing photos on the wall in the terminal. have clients friends protesting any still remembers when harvey asked him for help almost 50 years ago, called me up you had such a successful. >> then if you need to let's do to raise money to fight the brakes initiative which he helped defeat. he says the

airport with a message of hope for the future. that's the very latest reporting here at san francisco airport. i'm michael thomas will send it back to you in the studio. >> the 2024 aids lifestyle race. now over each year over 2000 cyclists race from san francisco to santa monica to raise money for hiv and aids services in san francisco and los angeles. it's a seven-day race covering for 545 miles. there is some rest. and some camps that are planned along the way. the racers arrived in santa monica yesterday. so congrats, they're all the participants. take a look at this this weekend. the red bowl series brought its cliff diving world series to the water's right after the boston harbor. competitors dove into the water there from to 90 feet in the air to get the best numbers from the judges. divers had to make as a little splash as possible. something that takes a lot of training to pull off.
