that the coastline because today that is going to keep spots like san francisco and even the bayshore relatively tolerable our inland areas. no denying it is going to be a hot one. temperatures are cool this morning, though. so go ahead. get outside. enjoy this. nice, brisk. start. we do have just enough of a sea breeze to certainly impact the coastline. but take a look at winds later on today. a huge switch up here. a little bit of a calming factor and not a lot of that onshore breeze. by the time we reach the late morning into afternoon, which is really going to add up into those temperatures rising so quickly where we're sitting as far as daytime highs go today. daytime highs will reach the upper 90's possible. even a triple-digit inland. i'm expecting us to stay with those upper 90's bay shore in the mid 80's. well, coastal spots in the low 70's. as for your roads this morning, things are smooth sailing out there. we don't have any issues that the bay bridge toll plaza yesterday we had that vehicle that was getting cleaned up after having collided with toll plaza. we

don't have that today. just an 8 minute drive across san mateo bridge at 12 minutes to make your crossing there. well, looking at both the richmond, sandra fell and the golden gate, nothing to report, at least as far as the slowdown. all right, john, thank you for that. san jose unified school district now facing pretty harsh criticism this morning. >> new report by the santa clara county civil grand jury says district leadersh%p is failing to serve its students. homer's jack moment has that story. >> well, they report commissioned by the santa clara county civil grand jury is more than 40 pages long and says that it stemmed from complaints within the district. many of the issues highlights go back to leadership here at the district i think do have triple special i as a parent with san jose unified his 9 year-old son in elementary student. he says the school district has struggled to care for his son who is autistic, they have rely.

>> little more more care about space. it. specifically, which is why antonio wasn't surprised when we told him a new report from the santa clara county civil grand jury says one of the bay area's largest school district has a glaring issue with leadership. the highlight issues are as follows. a high turnover and principals and assistant principals. >> a lack in addressing the mental health crisis, a lack planning for things such as a school shooting, which the report says put students at risk and problematic hiring practices. the grand jury t interviews around the district and found that several leaders in the district were insensitive towards the concerns of parents and teachers. it also found that the district office at lower out and allowed verbally abusive behavior. superintendent nancy sent a statement to kron 4 news where she calls the report misleading and inaccurate. she goes on to say, quote, san jose unified school district will use our required response as an opportunity to reflect on the areas of potential growth. some of the report's

recommendations include getting a 3rd party assessment to investigate these issues. further. and for parents like antonio. so you want more help for your child? yeah, his family is taking matters into its own hands. his wife attending a special education training at the use you know that things up in school. so what you want to make sure >> morehead. they don't happen reporting in san jose jack moment kron 4 news. >> well, happening today, a group with the north oakland community charter school will be announcing a lawsuit against oakland unified school district. this comes after the board of education voted to revoke the public charter schools petition. they're my cause of the school closed on june. 30th. the schools as the vote was made without allowing due process and is asking the community for support in their effort to keep the school open in o c c s he's been serving low-income students of color for 23 years. announce a lawsuit right in front of

north oakland community charter school on 42nd street. that's at 11:00am this morning. candles now lay in a neighborhood in oakland where a teen was shot and killed. this is just one 2 locations where teens are killed yesterday morning in the city. family and friends gathered yesterday afternoon. phil running 10 street right near martin luther king junior elementary school. police say they found a 16 year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. he died before he could be taken to the hospital. other shooting happened just near that intersection of international and 100nd avenue there. police say they found an 18 year old who have been shot. he had to be taken to the hospital where he later died. a short time later, police learn a 17 year-old had also been shot there. they had taken themselves to the hospital and they also died. >> loss of life is too much and especially the head. 3 young individuals start life

to have their lives taken from them such an early age is tragic. >> well, police say it does not appear the 2 shootings are connected. and east bay theaters scrambling now to recover after losing everything in a grass fire. the last came days before their next performance. so this is what's left of a warehouse along to the pittsburgh theater company. the stores on john henry johnson parkway in shelves of props, costumes and even sets dating back to 1979 firefighters say a fire broke out sunday on a nearby hill. quickly grew to 55 acres spread to the storage, silly while the cause is still under investigation. company's former board member david wark half the outcome devastating since 1974. >> besides working as a teacher? this was part of my life. i mean, i i've been in so many of the shows and been on the board and so many things could start to group that. it's just it's just

heartbreaking. >> well, the theater company has a show titled the sunshine boys scheduled to open friday night. and as they say, the show must go on. what does this church? well, in shares for opening night? prom is now 5 of 7 in the east bay. 2 people remain hospitalized after their apartment went up in flames. incident happened at a pittsburgh apartment building on crestview drive. it's right near bart. the fire is out. kron 4 charles clifford has that story. >> well, here in pittsburgh on monday morning, a 2 alarm fire sent a column of smoke into the air that could be seen for miles and 2 people were sent to the hospital just after 8 monday morning. firefighters responded here to the pittsburgh park apartments along crestview drive on reports of a structure fire. >> crews arriving on scene found this 2 story apartment burning resident on the ground floor was able to get out. but 2 people, a 15 year-old girl, adult man were trapped on the second floor. neighbors could see them in a window. fire

crews entered the building using ladders and were able to get them out. the mail was brought down. a lot of that. you see behind me with the parkers and the juvenile was brought downstairs. both were unconscious when they came out, our paramedics went to work and we have a local looks like they're doing pretty well. they're going to critical. but they're doing the fire response was upgraded to a second alarm but only took crews about 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control. >> crews were also able to keep the fire from spreading to other apartments. although the adjoining unit did suffer some minor damage. it's believed the fire started on the first floor. but the exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation. in pittsburgh, charles clifford kron, 4 news. >> pro-palestinian protesters facing off with police in san francisco citizen app. video shows the scene right outside the city's federal building. this is yesterday. protesters demanding an end to the ongoing war inside the building, lawyers argued for judicial oversight of u.s.

an employee of her office, desmond jeffries, who is listed as the da's director of recruitment and retention during that rally, jeffries posted a facebook live video where he frequently refers to recall lead or brenda grisham as gruesome and says the recall groups call for justice for victims is quote, all of side by a violent game. i'm the but you're not going to stress that not going disrespect them families. you're not going to play the fact that they have lost their children and you get it facebook. the price recall campaign has now sent this letter to da price and the board of supervisors. >> calling for jefferies to be fired because the video, quote, contains remarks that are not only insensitive but also pfoundly disrespectful to those who have suffered unimaginable loss. such havior is completely unacceptable and undermines the trust and confidence. but the public places in the district attorney's office, the da's office is supposed to be taking care of our

things we do know today, a measure to repeal a decades old state law allowing employees to sue their employer over labor violations officially qualified this year's november ballot. however, the governor is leading negotiations between labor and business groups. take the measure off. people vote in the law. argue attorneys are taking advantage of the system. and a landmark bill to fight. wildfires has just been introduced in congress. the bill is called the modernizing law fire safety and prevention act. part of that bill seeking to get rid of firefighter shortages. i created a new academy to train hire more than also update technology like developing risk maps to improve response time. crews are working to put out to grass fires in sonoma county

just east of petaluma at last check calfire list at the bus fire. 2 acres for progress has been stopped crews put out a fire in san jose yesterday afternoon. they say one person was taken to the hospital. what a start on road. crews say the fire, which less than one acre all the building with several cars. we'll have a report on what caused that fire. well, as firefighters continue to battle those fires and try others from being started. >> john terrell talks about the intense heat that isn't much of a help to them. good morning, jon. yeah, he definitely not a factor that a lot of those firefighters really like to see. but we are going to at least be seeing. >> it backing off quickly this time around tomorrow you'll already notice temperatures not as hot today and even further cooling the rest of the week. now, this morning, we do have a bit of a sea breeze. this is your view at the bay bridge in the embarcadero and got just the evidence of a little that ocean cool. they're sitting right in the interior of the

bay itself inland areas where it's going to be especially hot bayshore in coastal spots, not quite as hot as last week got. we do have just enough of this. high-pressure set up to keep that flow off the coast of very, very relaxed today. and that is contributing to what will be our heat advisories for one time this week. that's this afternoon, starting at 11:00am through 08:00pm tonight for inland portions of marin and sonoma counties. all of napa and solano counties inland alameda and contra costa and portions of the south bay as well. now winds are very calm this morning. we will start to see that sea breeze kicking back up again late in the afternoon today. and good news for us inland is this will bring us relief into the evening hours tonight. so after what will be a hot day today, once 08:00pm hits with those heat advisories expire and you get your overnight relief which will be quite welcome. 60's and 70's out along the coastline today while 70's to 80's along the bay shore.

burlingame, a 84 redwood city, a 88 today, south bay temperatures definitely warmer san jose up to 92 degrees while livermore. 97 heyward, you'll be 84 degrees, oakland or rye to 80 for your daytime high concord, getting close to triple digits at 97. vacaville are closest at 99. well, santa rosa down through center fell all in the low 90's as well. looking ahead, tomorrow's temperatures barely making the low 90's. so that's quite a drop by thursday. it's barely low 80's and the weekend ahead, right on par with seasonal averages in the 70's to 80's. so a quick return to normal. as for your roads, things out there are definitely doing much better than yesterday at the bay bridge. we had that collision yesterday with the toll plaza. not so much today. only 8 minutes to make your crossing in clear skies up above 2, both the san mateo bridge as well as the richmond center fell also doing just fine this tuesday morning. >> all right, john, thanks

that. happening today in san francisco, people are going to gather to speak out against the pending eviction of people who live in rv's right near lake lure said so back in december, the sfmta creating a plan to restrict parking on winston drive buckingham way right near san francisco state. the site multiple issues from more than 100 rv's parked along the rows and this poll of sewage, public places, generators it will dry grass supporters of those living in rv's they're facing a forcinle eviction next month. they also say the city is displacing families who have made a community in that area. calling on the leaders to reconsider their decision. they're going to be meeting at 8 this morning on wednesday and dry. advocates against pandas at the san francisco zoo. they're going to be city hall this morning. this all comes as the san francisco board of supervisors vote on their london breed's controversial plan to bring pandas to the city. well, at a gets a mismanagement, animal

firefighter continues and hospital care this morning after battling the corral fire last week in near tracy. his friends say he suffered severe burns and he's going to be meeting several surgeries now. is stasio has that story. >> and that the fire has burned over flown out to santa clara medical center. >> that's brian saint townie communications director. without me to county fire department. he is now on a journey to thank the community for coming out in support brandon franco. franco shown here with his wife and child was out fighting the corral fire that erupted june first near tracy with ferocious winds. the blaze cut through grass quickly. crews ultimately did get the upper hand on the blaze. but franco is still in the hospital and he suffered 3rd degree burns on his arm and his back. >> and he's just such an amazing firefighter said tony says that franco has already had surgery and we'll need more specialized care for his burns can and visit him this

inland areas, that's truly where you're going to be feeling the heat today where we're sitting as far as temperatures go right now about of 40's to 50's on the map. oakland at 54 right now conquered 56 vacaville brentwoods kelsey bill among our spots that have held on to that 60's during your overnight hours. now, we are seeing just a very, very slight onshore breeze. look how winds relax towards the middle of the day today. in fact, at times we could see even a very slight offshore wind before that sea breeze kicks back into gear towards late afternoon and does bring us some overnight relief tonight. that's those heat advisories will expire tonight at 08:00pm. in the meantime, today is going to easily be the hottest day of the forecast. some of our inland areas could approach 100 degrees today, staying in the upper 90's, though, mid-eighties at the warmest along the bayshore mall. some 60's to 70's along the immediate coastline. as for your roads right now, we are smooth sailing conditions on the bay bridge. nothing

slowing you down out there. no issues this morning, which is nice report. as for the san mateo bridge as well as the richmond center fell, you are also moving along just fine, right? all right. on the eve of that big story this morning, the fallout. >> surrounding the chaotic sideshow over the weekend in san francisco. now the finger pointing is started. who is to blame? cuomo's will tran live in san francisco with that story morning. well, >> good morning, rain. a lot of people are blaming mayor london breed and it's not just the public. the law enforcement community least one sector in san francisco, blaming mayor london breed for the chaos and they say there is ongoing chaos unless she hires more officers for san francisco. so let me show you the video. this went viral over the weekend and look at basically shut down parts of the embarcadero on sunday morning at around 02:00am when

according to san francisco police department, about 200 cars converged just right down the street from the ferry building. they lit fireworks. they did donuts in the middle of the roadway. officers responded to the scene, dispersed the crowd only to later. see the sideshow. basically pick up once again about an hour later and a different part of san francisco in the mission district so far this morning, there have been no arrests in this case. a lot of people are blaming san francisco most specifically mayor london breed. and it is coming from within the government agencies in san francisco. so take a look at your screen. the san francisco sheriff's association, they have been fighting. mayor london breed for a long time demanding that she hires more deputies. they took to social media yesterday seeing the video obviously for themselves. they say all mayor london breed has to do is increase our starting rate to

attract more applicants. more deputies equals more public safety. london breed always says the same thing, but her actions like not increasing the starting pay for deputies attract more applicants. show you otherwise they have been fighting to trying have mayor breed higher at least 200 more officers because they say right now they're simply overworked and they are working overtime that they simply do not want. and they are burning out. notice. this is coming from the sheriff's association and not the san francisco police department. it is the police department's job to patrol the streets as well as to make arrests in crackdown on sideshows. mayor london breed. she says sideshows are illegal and dangerous and ultimately she hopes the san francisco police department will eventually make arrests. the san francisco police department say that, yes, this is an ongoing investigation, but they have camera readers. they have detectives on this case and they are confident that

ultimately they will make arrests and impound cars. back to you. >> all right. well, thank you for that update on that story. now in connection four's. rob nesbitt spoke with a resident who lives right near where that massive sideshow happened. and they should what they saw. >> you can see hundreds in this video gathered along san francisco's embarcadero at a sunday morning sideshow. from this video, there were lots of >> explosions and like fireworks. diana taylor lives right next with the chaos took place and says one of her neighbors thought she was waking up to a bomb going off at one point, a car even caught on fire hostility that's perpetrated against them. >> from these huge groups, hundreds of people were there at that after sideshow. and they really take on the police a much more assaultive and >> aggressive taylor's the president of the barbary coast neighborhood association has been in contact with police about the increase of

sideshows according to chief bill scott. the crowd dispersed into several small groups and other side shows followed in the city, including one of the mission. the chief saying, quote, sfpd officers in responding firefighters faced reckless drivers careening out of control as well as explosives and potentially blinding laser pointers at each location around the city, officers gathered evidence developed a plan and ultimately flush the vehicles out of the locations. this is our primary focus during the vents to ensure public safety. i asked police about their protocols when responding to sideshows, but they said they don't speak about their tactics with this particular crime. i asked the same question of chp officer andrew barclay in march and he explained how recent legislation allows officers to take later. action doesn't have to be. we see it right there. stop them and take the vehicle. >> if we identify that vehicle, we can, you know, come in a couple weeks later without warrant and take that vehicles. the no arrests from sunday sideshows chief bill scott emphasize the fact that his department's investigation is far from over and that police hope to get more information from the impound

this is actually a time lapse of the 5 from yesterday afternoon. so one person had to be taken to the hospital. the blaze started garrow. crews say the fire which was less than one acre involved building, but several cars. we don't have any word on what caused that fire. and a landmark bill to fight wildfires has been introduced now in congress, several california congressman are at the forefront of its sweeping package. catherine heenan has that story. >> it is a first of its kind bill that would essentially modernize the way the u.s. is tackling ongoing wildfire crisis. we talked to one of the sponsors, congressman john garamendi. >> it only makes sense that california legislators are helping to lead the push. leaders here have been pointing out. we cannot talk about wildfire season it's wildfire season in california. >> year-round crisis. the new

thing is that climate change is real and we now have a 365 day. fire season in california and do with the heavy rains that we had this year. there is a lot of grass out there and we saw that with fire in the tracy area just last week. >> the bill takes a four-part approach. it aims to get rid of firefighter shortage is by creating a new academy to train and hire more of them. there would be a focused effort to hang on to the experienced firefighters who are considered experts, including giving them better benefits and working conditions. the bill would update technology like developing risk maps to improve response time. and a real-time air quality monitoring system with alerts would be created to help tackle the fact so many people get sick from the smoke from huge wildfires. the bill is

>> retail theft. it's an issue. republicans and democrats in the legislature have long said they want to see addressed so much so that earlier this year, legislative leaders from both sides of the aisle announced a package of bills. they dubbed the bipartisan safer. california plan they believe will help tackle the issue. among the bills in the package. one that would expand the california highway patrol property crimes task force and another that would increase penalties against retail thieves involved in the resale of stolen items. common sons, effective laws that will blunt retail theft and local crime. but the bills do not propose to overturn prop. 47 passed by california voters in 2014, the law changed certain nonviolent crimes from felonies to misdemeanors, including theft. when the items stolen are valued at less than $950. while supporters have long argued the law will help reduce california's prison population and lead to criminal justice reform opponents to this day say it

emboldened criminals to take part in certain crimes like retail theft, with little to no punishment, property. 7 has been an unmitigated disaster for public safety in california. and so until this legislature get serious about fixing prop 47. >> we're going to keep pushing for reforms. and that includes at the ballot box. and that's exactly what voters can expect this november after a group of district attorneys and others and public safety say they've collected enough signatures to qualify a ballot measure asking voters to overturn prop 47 governor gavin newsom does not want to see that happen. i don't think there's a need to happen on what i have something on the ballot. doesn't actually achieve the goals that are i do the campaign legislative democratic legislative leaders, including senate president pro tempore mike mcguire agree with newsom. >> and now they're proposing amendments to many of the retail bills, amendments that would make the bills take effect immediately this summer with the governor's signature, but would also cancel the

bills of voters overturned. prop 47. it helps avoid having conflicting laws and policies regarding retail theft. >> so that we can be sure the are held accountable. but republicans believe the anti prep 47 ballot measure and the retail theft bills can both become law. they argue the democrat backed amendments are part of a larger plan to defeat the ballot measure. they're trying to deceive the voters into believing that there's a choice. there's not a choice we can do both. the cynical part is. >> the democrats are putting this in place so that the ballot summary entitled can say. >> that this initiative and does public safety bills passed in the legislature and make it look like we're undoing it and making it less safe. that's the sentence. that's the cynical part. here's what i have to say to that. >> hogwash. hogwash. >> we're putting emergency clause into these bills so they take effect immediately. who doesn't support that as a
