it's a cool start to this morning you're down at 49 degrees. seen temperatures have been really cool and that is definitely going to keep. there are coastal area school today 50's for most of the rest of the bay area. brett would are only spot barely hanging on to 60 degrees this morning. now, as far as visibility goes, watch out for some visibility issues up in sonoma as well as northern marine counties. aside from that, though, most of this is low gray. that thing out just above us. so visibility has been fine, but it is going to take awhile for it all to burn off today. winds directly from the coast in treating further inland, as i mentioned so much yesterday, definitely having that cooling effect on us today. daytime highs, as i mentioned, only in the low 80's at or very warmest 70's for most of and some 60's out along the coast today. as for your road, you're driving around under that blanket of grey. so it's not impacting your visibility on bridges bay bridge looking just fine. 8 minutes for you're crossing your pretty typical at this morning. san mateo bridge, 13

peskin with each candidate answering questions about key issues in the city. more than 800 overdose deaths were recorded last year. more than 80% involving fentanyl. each candidate. explain what they would do to prevent more deaths. we need to aggressively arrest and prosecute fentanyl dealers as mayor, i will declare fentanyl state of emergency. >> it will allow us ask the state and federal government for additional funds to allow them to bring in additional law enforcement. we're spending 700 million dollars a year on our behavioral health system. we've skewed so heavily to harm reduction, which i believe part of the continuum of cop chair. it's very important, but we forgot about building the bats and treating people. there is no other mayor in any major city in this country that is doing what i am doing with the various services that we are doing in order to help combat this issue. and we are seeing improvements in our city walk the beat with the captain of the tender line the other day. and he said a lot of our resources are going into the

downtown. >> if you want to stop the drug trade, you've got to get the officers on the street. you have to address a drug dealer. candidates also described how they would make city streets safer for visitors and residents. my plan for public safety. >> i believe we need new police chief. i believe we need to restore the budget of our police department inside of city hall are seeing one of the lowest crime rates we've seen in 10 years and that crime rate is continuing to trend to this very day, including. >> a 50% reduction right here today in car break-ins. we a fully staffed police department. most of the officers in my district know the shopkeepers in the residents on their beats many of them by name. doesn't just keep people safe. it makes them feel safe. but what's been missing has been the leadership and the investment to recruit. if you don't invest in the recruitment budget, you can't go out and get officers and all the other public safety personnel that we need. so how did voters feel after the debate tonight? how? >> a lot. because i really had no idea who i was going to

19 year-old woman is dead following a multi-vehicle crash. this happened around 9.20 tuesday night on 1, just south of cochran road in morgan hill. according chp, the woman was riding a motorcycle, which collided with a kia sedan, indict. the key was stopped on the highway because of earlier crash. maybe that victim has not been released. i 6. lawsuit has been filed against alameda county da pamela price by one of her former employees ideally serve as prices public information officer last year she alleges price told her her enemies were, quote, the media and the asians in, quote, losses to issue a press conference price held in november last year. reporter was refused entry leading to flurry of public records request lee was required to turn over records related to that incident. she claims price chose to hide lead, change them. refused to sign off on them. lawsuit says she

specifically identify those targeted residents. we don't know. >> now a group of teens are juvenile hall as well. police say the group is responsible for more than 30 commercial burglaries and armed robberies. in san jose. a therapist who worked with kids at an elementary school is now in jail for child crimes. police identify and ali hamza lopez, nunez as the person they say assaulted a girl more than once during therapy. assaults are alleged to have happen from march until last friday. see if the report from reporting party. >> stating that the incident had occurred the day before they were able to basically catch the suspect in the act of of sexually molesting assaulting the victim. >> well known as work as an instructional aide at forest hill elementary school at the time of the assault. san jose police say there might be more victims. they want anybody with any information to give them a call. happening today.

comfortable for those inland areas. one remaining heat advisory for the south into the central valley side. from that, you've seen them gradually slip away over the past few days. part of the reason for that is that increase in sea breeze and dust, that marine layer that has skidded on inland this morning and a huge impact on temperatures. let's get a look at them. daytime highs today in the 50's to 60's for us that that's pretty unchanged from yesterday. same for the coastline. a repeat of what you had yesterday. well, those of us further inland are definitely looking at that cool down highs in the mid 70's on the peninsula. like the way that feels south bay temperatures mostly in the low 80's today, which is similar to yesterday steps. the east bay livermore. you're down to 83 degrees today. well, hayward at 71 oakland at 68. that's 2 degrees cooler than yesterday. concord, a noticeable drop down to 78 and antioch from the 90's yesterday to 85 degrees today. so we've definitely seen temperatures falling off just a little bit further making for a comfortable and warm one

welcome back to the kron 4 morning news and we are going on some cooler temperatures today just in time for the weekend. john morning. yeah, i love to see a little bit of a cool down 2 days ago it was a scorcher for a san jose where well in the 90's barely make the 80's and look at that sunrise. a nice start to the day for you. >> most of us are looking at some low grace, a san jose. you got a little peek of that sunshine as you will, as well. further inland. some 40's to 50's out there for most of our morning temperatures. brentwood at 60 degrees being the exception to that rule. now we're definitely seeing a billing kits of low stratus clouds. so sitting just above the bay, very few of us are going to be driving through that great, except if you're in the north bay, northern marin and sonoma counties are seeing some spots, a dense fog

designated as a national memorial by congress. it's also played a part, inspired a brand new memorial in the park. our very own john shrable brings us the story. >> it may just be the quietest spot in san francisco. aside from the ever-present chirping of golden gate park's many birds and the wind rushing through the towering redwoods about. one of the few sounds you may encounter down. here is the sound of travis mathews head groundskeeper of the national aids memorial grove tending to this very intentionally landscape corner of the park. >> is that you move in and out of spaces of darkness and light. and i mean, you can see just behind us here you go into the redwoods and it's a darker space. and then you come out into don't opens up to all this light. >> this is a place of meeting to so many, but especially to those in the lgbt community who gather here for remembrance and healing. i had a partner who died from aids

in 1993 before lifesaving medications came along. steve saga serve as the senior manager of the national aids memorial. this job was perfect for me through my work, i'm able to help honor all of those lives that were lost to aids lives impacted by aids. >> this may be an incredibly beautiful sanctuary. but the story begins during one of the lgbt community's most painful chapters. the aids pandemic, which took the lives of thousands in the city alone and for a community that was oftentimes ostracized. aides only added to the stigma that so many faced. >> being aware at that time that the >> community, the community and people with hiv in age were. >> i'm being ignored and and hated >> demonized. >> the memorial is truly been a beacon of love to the lgbt community, but its impact has
