>> it happened around 11 o'clock last night. witnesses told police the security card gotten too an argument which escalated and they say the security guard was then shot. the other person was stabbed multiple times when police arrived. the security officer died at the scene. the other person was taken to a local hospital. >> no word on their condition tonight. kron 4 caught up with shoppers in that shopping center this afternoon who say it's usually a safe area. >> we feel very safe community. so we're surprising this happened, but we've heard this is in the year, cbs. very sad. i mean, my family is grieving for them. i have 12 year-old i have nieces and nephews there in tears about it. >> meanwhile, cbs issued a statement to kron 4 saying in part we are co-operating with police in their investigation of the tragic incident that occurred at our store on fremont hub last night we're providing store employees, counseling services and other support as needed the store is

temporarily closed now. but nearby cvs locations are continuing to serve our customers and patients. since last july, san francisco police have had the help of both federal and state partners trying to tackle the fentanyl crisis in the tenderloin overdose. deaths continue. progress is being made in the last year. federal partners alone have made nearly 200 arrest and seized over 45 kilos of fentanyl as kron four's. dan kerman reports tonight about one quarter of that seizure was just in the last month. with stepped up federal, state and local law enforcement during the day. >> the dea says drug dealers in the tenderloin have been doing much of their sales after dark. >> so in the last month, federal law enforcement officers have added extra agents at night and the results have been significant. >> we did 23 operations of the course of 28 days out of those. we 48 arrests. i was 40 arrests. we charged a 23

individuals with federal charges. we seize over 11 pounds of fentanyl, brian clark, but the san francisco office of the drug enforcement administration says to put that in perspective, 11 pounds of fentanyl is 5 kilograms, which the dea says has the potential of killing 2.5 million people. this has been a long time opener, drug market. you know, it's not going to change overnight it, but it's going to take consistent, constant pressure. the dea says federal state and local law enforcement plan to keep up the pressure. we're going to use surveillance undercover agents controls buys wiretaps. we're going after the money service businesses that are laundered drug proceeds specht dan kerman kron. 4 news. police in oakland say there was an assault with a deadly weapon on an officer just before 10, 30 this morning. officers saw a car wanted in connection. >> with an armed robbery in san leandro. this is in the area foster avenue and

bernhard drive when cops tried to stop the car. the driver, they say tried to escape by ramming the patrol car officers were able to detain 2 adults and 3 kids who are in the car. no one was hurt. the case has been turned over to the san leandro police department. >> unionized muni operators ratified a new contract with san francisco. this comes after voting down the previous proposal about 2 weeks ago. this contract runs from july. first through june 2027. and over that time, operators are going to receive a 13% increase. the first pay bump coming on july. 1st. >> here's 70 in san francisco is growing. the historic shipyard located next to the dogpatch. we'll be adding indoor paddle and pickleball club called bay paddle. it will open in july pottery maker and a lot more artisans will also be brought into the project currently 12 food companies and artists are already featured at the pier. developers say their vision is to grow a creative community.

those temperatures down as we head through the evening hours. but skies likely to stay mostly clear overnight tonight. in fact, not going to see a whole lot of the way of fog. i think as we get to the weekend. temperatures tonight. yeah. if you're headed out the door, what a nice evening. we've got 70's in the valleys will be holding on to 8 o'clock or so. and then maybe a couple patches of fog beginning creep back in along the coastline. it will remain cool out toward the beaches that breeze is blowing. we'll have more on that. that wind going to pick up higher fire danger for the weekend. we'll talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. all right, lawrence, in the east bay, antioch, police are telling residents to be careful the next time they visit the bank there. police say they're investigating almost a dozen robberies related to these visits to the bank in just the past 3 months. kron four's gayle ong reports. >> a warning from antioch police alerting residents to stay vigilant after victims were robbed after leaving local banks doesn't surprise me. i've been here for 28 years. it's gotten continuously worse. according to police detective detain 2 robbery suspects after a foot

pursuit. one of the suspects was carrying a firearm. as of friday. there are close to a dozen open robbery investigations involving bank visit. the crime has increased even during the daytime. >> doesn't matter when you go, i just hope you keep your head on the school. lonnie smith says he hears about these incidents on the nextdoor app. >> even a chase bank was robbed last week. but what happens if people sit out the cause they will follow a course and all the way home, no matter where they live. but even from here to open, which is about 10 miles about 70 miles. well, the right to the driveway. police say 4 of the robberies happened at a different location after the victim's left. the banks. >> in 6 other instances, robberies happened in the bank, parking lots. police say the suspects stole cell phones, wallets and money. so you just got to be careful. and i think sometimes we get complacent. >> phones and stuff like that looking down and not paying attention to us around us. so that's important. if you know what time we're into day. >> we've got to pay attention any apd is giving the same

advice and as people should avoid carrying large amounts of money, walk in well, lit areas and report any suspicious behavior to police in antioch, gayle kron. 4 news. >> massive drug bust in san francisco's mission district. police say a resident alerted them about a car that may have been involved in drug distribution. officers conducted a search warrant for the car near 17th and shot will streets where they found more than half a million dollars in cash and drugs, including cocaine, meth, ketamine and mushrooms. 2.46 year-old found in the car were arrested on several charges. a former employee at a bay area are red lobster is part of a class action lawsuit against the restaurant chain. george parker was an employee at the rohnert park red lobster and he claims that a restaurant chain failed to provide adequate notice of a nationwide layoffs last month. the rohnert park closed abruptly last month. the

lawsuit claims that california a red lobster employees were not given the required 60 days notice before they were let go. the lawsuit is seeking damages of more than $15,000 per employee. >> berkeley public schools could begin providing cash payments to black students says and sensors were enslaved to the u.s.. that was one of the ideas floated that a berkeley unified school district board meeting this week. members heard ideas from a committee tasked with developing recommendations for what reparations could look like in the district and how they would be funded. the board also discussed developing a new curriculum for teaching the history of slavery in america. no plans have been formally approved, but all board members expressed support for the ideas presented by the task force. >> we know that there isn't anything that will actually repairs that farm. but we know that this is a step in the right direction towards reparations or towards repairing the harm that was caused to our people here and

the united states and beyond. >> the task force also recommended creating a thorough harm report documenting the effects of segregation, discriminatory policies. another lasting impacts of slavery in the district. >> and the south bay, the tea is celebrating the groundbreaking of eta's bart's, silicon valley phase 2 extension project. when complete bart service is going to extend the 6 miles from the berryessa transit center into downtown san jose and ending in the city of santa clara. >> ev charging access is expanding in san francisco. mayor breed is launching a pilot program that would allow curbside charging for electric vehicles. the city is hoping to install more than 1700 of them by 2030. currently there are just under 1200 public ev charging stations in san francisco before deciding on locations. the program hopes to gain public feedback and applications from charging providers. >> still to come on, kron, 4

>> a new narcan vending machine is now available to residents in marin county. the free vending machine is located at kaiser permanente's. sandra fell medical park and hopes to fix a growing trend and the county or any county we've seen an alarming number. >> of fentanyl related deaths that 6 out of 10 overdose deaths are functional. they did today sun bateman and emergency medicine doctor in sandra fell tells us since the video machine open on monday, the demand is in a 3 and a half days that we've had going on. we've already restocked the machine twice. each box of narcan contains 2 single doses and already 175 doses have been given out this week alone. >> back in march, marin county issued a health advisory after seeing a spike in fentanyl related deaths. it is the

crash is being investigated. this is the 21st traffic fatality in san jose this year. >> and overturned big rig is causing traffic delays in pleasanton. this is on the westbound lanes of 5.80, near half yard road already road chp says about 09:00am 2 cars crashed. one of them hit a semi truck which then hit a minivan in the semi, flipped over. one person was taken to the hospital. chp says one lane is still blocked off. chp says they do hope to have all lanes reopen soon. >> officials of id, the man hit and killed by a driver earlier this week in the city's bernal heights neighborhood. 41 year-old miguel on helber aircrews, flowers and candles. now are there at the light post, a mission and courtland to remember him. police are asking anyone with information or video of the incident to reach out to them. going to cost you a bit more dry. the ferry from the city to the east and north bay's and vice versa. starting july 1st, san

francisco bay ferry is increasing its fares by about 3%. one way from alameda oakland, a richmond to the city will now cost you $4.70. if you're coming from south san francisco, that is 7.20, and the fair from toledo will be 9.60. the fare increase was approved by the board of directors last year. >> all right. now to our 4 zone forecast. cal-fire releasing a red flag warning that includes solano county for the entire weekend. this means there is a higher fire danger than usual. our first chief meteorologist lawrence karnow explaining what this means. exactly laurent. yeah, boy, those hills are getting very brown now, right? we're just about the summertime. >> with that really dry brush. and now we're going to see some winds ramping up the the little normally component. all of a sudden humidity drop down to 10 to 20%. and that's a recipe for some fire. should they get started? so out the door this evening, we're see more of a sea breeze out there, but looking him. mount

diablo. it is get brown out there right now. you can see all that brush out there on the hills, but many bay area will start to look like that. now, after all that rain we've seen over the last couple years. there's a lot of brush out there to burn red flag warnings being posted by the national weather service toward lake county clear parts of slama county as well. all those areas expect to see some gusty winds starting on saturday and those winds likely to ramp up. i think sunday will be a really gusty day with that northerly component win. and that means it could get very, very dry outside. stay probably 15 to 25, but maybe some gust of 40, maybe even higher than that. and with that dry conditions out there should a fire gets started. that can put a pretty good run. some of those fires to those dry fields all around the rest, the bay area. here's where look right now. here's a forecast model of for some of the fire danger right now. you see a slight to moderate risk this afternoon that just because the general sea breeze, we'll watch that play out throughout much of the summer months here as we get that sea breeze that kicks in the afternoon, sometimes get some 30 plus mile hour gusts. now saturday does look as bad as we put this into motion. here you see some spotty areas

yellow here. some areas just in the orange there, the east bay. but overall, i think saturday not to bad sunday. the kind of changes gears again, we see think of a little more to stay to start to see some orange showing up in some of these computer model runs. and higher fire danger beginning to pick up. so not severe, but just be careful out there as we're going tw see those winds kind of wrapping up and yeah, out there right now, we do have that sea breeze right now. we've got some 20 almost 30 mile an hour winds all the way into fairfield. but i think as we head through the weekend going to see those winds picking up, especially on saturday, some kicking up some 30 plus mile an hour winds as we get into sunday. i think that's more significant. some of those winds really start to ramp up some 30, 40 mile an hour. winds going to be a real possibility as we head towards sunday afternoon. so should be a weekend ahead. just got to be careful. you know, most humans are the cause of these fires. so you got to be careful what you're good barbecue for dad may be right on father's day. be careful. some of those embers flying in some of the winds outside where they can start a fire in a hurry. they can go real far. yeah. real fast site. thanks. a chances. >> in the south bay, a

business owner in milpitas is picking up the pieces after a break-in at his restaurant. you can see the damage done at taqueria las vegas. it's on north milpitas boulevard. the owner tells us that it happened shortly after midnight yesterday. the total costs and damages about $3300. 2000 of just to replace the window there. >> san francisco based wells fargo has fired more than a dozen workers saying they simulated keyboard activity. this seems like a work from home. we're not really working situation. bloomberg came out with a report. they say these employees are accused of using mouse movers which simulate mouse motion to give the impression someones that their computer, according to bloomberg employees who lost their jobs were in the thanks wealth and investment management unit. happening tomorrow. the grand opening of the you playing peace and friendship garden in visitation valley in the city. the park is in honor of

>> big news today from the supreme court. the high court has struck down a trump era ban on bump stocks which allow semiautomatic weapons to fire like machine guns. the supreme ruled the trump administration did not follow federal law when it reversed course from previous administrations and banned bump stocks ban came after a gunman used bump stocks, a rapid fire gun accessory to open fire at a music festival in las vegas, killing nearly 60 people. many republicans are standing by the supreme court while democrats are saying this rolling back gun control, progress. >> it's the second amendment i stand by the supreme court has ruled. let's move on with it. what the court did today is really rolling back. >> but otherwise, progress to be made. >> president biden is now calling on congress to act. he
