care provider gets creative in the fight against the opioid crisis. >> from the area's local news station, you're watching the kron. 4 morning news at 7. >> good morning. thank you so much for joining us here on the kron. 4 morning news. i'm stephanie lin. >> it's saturday, june. the 15th. that's your kids. get your morning started with a look at the weather with kathy trafton. good morning, cathy. good morning. what a beautiful sunrise it was this morning at 5.47, how many hours of daylight do we get today? it's 14 hours and 46 minutes. so you can make it a great day. terrific conditions it what a difference a day makes. yesterday was all about june gloom in many areas today, crystal clear skies inland. crystal clear in many areas right along the coastline. great view of the golden gate bridge. in fact, great visibility. that is not a problem today. if you head over to half moon bay, you do see some low clouds. but in some areas, it's even sunny. there where it's 54 degrees at

this hour. 52 in san francisco as you head inland, still in the 50's pushing to the upper 50's until you get to san jose at 62 degrees and antioch at 63 degrees. common many areas right now. but and san francisco blocking 18 miles per hour. winds through the golden gate and half moon bay. it's 10 mile an hour winds. it's going to really kick the winds are going to really pick up this afternoon. the last 24 hours. if you took a look at the winds in some areas gusting 40 to 60 miles per hour along the coastal waters. the immediate coastline also in some of the higher peaks, there is a red flag warning in effect, not in the bay area, but in the sacramento valley. starting tonight at 11 o'clock pm and heading through sunday night as well. so fire danger is a big concern everywhere. but so far, not in the advisory status in the bay area. still, it is warm. it is dry. we've got some gusty winds coming our way. all right, kathy, thank you. of

allay community empowerment group is working to bounce back this morning. they're building damaged by a drive-by shooting. but they say this is not going to stop them from their mission to do good. dan thorn reports. >> some windows and a door are now boarded up at the boys and girls empowerment group in vallejo, bullets riddled the building on the night of june. 8th organizers say the damage was from a drive-by shooting while window my door. when show all it's a hole in the wall. executive director of the group orlando graham says he's thankful no one in the building was injured, but the shooting shows gun violence continues to be a problem in vallejo and kids. summer camp is just around the corner. we don't want that happen to kids for sure. the group's organizers say at first they were concerned about spreading the word about the shooting. they didn't want families or others in the community seeking services to be worried about coming to the space.

to help out the boys and girls goal of raising $8500. in developing news. police in fremont now investigating a deadly shooting that left a security guard dead. it happened at a cvs and the fremont hub shopping center. well, first a justice is live at the scene with the latest developments on this. tiffany. >> all right. stephanie customers trying to get into the store right behind us this morning, but they're not able to the cvs has new hours now, opening at 8 o'clock in the morning and closing at 08:00pm. this is the store located right behind us in this very busy shopping center. and this is where that security guard was killed thursday night. multiple people calling about the shooting that took place inside the store. the witness a witness said that security card was in a verbal altercation with someone before the clash turned violent. according to the fremont police department. they say the guard was shot and another person was stabbed several times.

>> it's crazy. i can't believe that happened last really shoddy. expected for sure. >> now police did not say whether shoplifting was involved in this homicide, but they are urging the public. if you did witness the shooting inside of the cvs thursday night, please contact the fremont. police departments reporting live to just as kron. 4 news to thank you for your coverage this morning. >> well, if you're looking for a look at tape and a way to toast to the summer season, a historic san francisco hotel is welcoming visitors back to the city with a vibrant display of flowers and food. check out beacon grand's blooms and bubbles event which runs through july. the event part of the city's union square in bloom celebration which celebrates the neighborhood's historic connection to flowers. despite the departure of several retailers in the area, the beacon grand says it's seeing

tourism continue to pick up as we head into the warmer months. the hotel is also gearing up for the busy summer season. >> based on data, if the are better so i if you can't. going in that direction will be going to be ok? >> like other participating businesses in union square beacon. grand is decorated with colorful floral arrangements of all shapes and sizes. union square in bloom is a san francisco initiative launched in 2022. encouraging visitors and locals to discover and support local businesses and cuisine. people in parts of santa clara and santa cruz counties may spots low flying helicopters and drones next week pg and e plans to conduct a public safety power shutoff drill on monday and tuesday. the utility says they are. they do not expect the drill to actually interrupt anyone's power. police arrested 2 more miners in connection to a deadly shooting in sunnyvale. the incident happened back in

april on santa south, bernardo avenue in evelyn avenue near the diamond gas station. police say they found a man inside a car with gunshot wounds. he later died in the hospital last month. officers arrested one suspect in connection to that shooting. police arrested the other 2 suspects this week. francisco's district attorney brooke jenkins is hitting the campaign trail. the da met with dozens of community members thursday at manny's in the mission district to talk about her re-election campaign and public safety during a moderated discussion. jenkins has are questions about the fentanyl crisis. she says her office made 850 felony narcotics arrests. but 75% of dealers remain on the streets. highs are in several films getting creative in the fight against drug overdose deaths. the health care provider rolled out a new narcan vending machine kron four's lezla gooden explains. >> i knew narcan vending machine is now available to residents in marin county. the free vending machine is

located at kaiser permanente's. sandra fell medical park and hopes to fix a growing trend and the county or any county we've seen an alarming number. >> of fentanyl related deaths, 6 out of 10 overdose deaths are functional. think day. sun bateman and emergency medicine doctor in sandra fell tells us since the video machine open on monday, the demand is in a 3 and a half days that we've had going on. we've already restocks the machine twice. each box of narcan contains 2 single doses and already 175 doses have been given out this week alone. >> back in march, marin county issued a health advisory after seeing a spike in fentanyl related deaths. it is the leading cause of death among residents under age of 55. >> the number of those deaths have doubled the last 3 years.

kaiser has partnered with od free wmur an overdose prevention coalition. and they are responsible for the placing of the vending machine and its restocking. if they continue to see people using it. >> we could see more in the future. this is opportunity look at all the different sites and create access and use we're seeing in terms how many of these devices are being dispensed. was a good in kron. 4 >> a former bay area, red lobster workers filing a class action lawsuit against the restaurant chain. george parker worked at the rohnert park red lobster, which closed abruptly last month. he claims that the chain failed to provide adequate notice of nationwide layoffs. the lawsuit claims california, a red lobster workers did not get the required 60 days notice before they were let go. the lawsuit is seeking damages of more than $15,000 per worker. in the south bay. the santa clara vta celebrated the groundbreaking of a 6 mile

>> all right. welcome back. 7.13, this morning, looking at a gorgeous shot of the golden gate bridge. you can see the sun just beaming down on it. looking pretty good out there. let's check in now with kathy trafton for more on our weather conditions. hey there, kathy. >> it certainly is beautiful, but there are elevated fire concerns across the bay area and especially into the sacramento valley. yes, it's

beautiful. yesterday there were lots areas gray skies today. lots of blue, some gray at the coast. of course. but we do have some gusty winds at times. temperatures across the state at this hour from the low 50's 50 in eureka to the low 60's. 62 los angeles. 61 in san diego, the central valley so far 60's and a few 70's, sacramento at this hour is 73 degrees. our temperatures in the 50's and the low 60's right now in san francisco. downtown is 53 degrees. 59 degrees in oakland and 63 already in antioch. so it's shaping up to be a lovely day. not much different in terms of temperatures compared to yesterday, some areas just about the same little cooler in some spots, a little warmer in some spots. one of the big concerns today is the gusty winds. so at this hour right now, streaming through the golden gate at 23 miles per hour at 22 miles per hour.

heading right down the coast at pacifica, half moon bay already up to 26 miles per hour. so inland, even santa rosa in on the action at 26 mile an hour breezes, you know, the last 24 hours, if you took a look at some of the gusts, they were up to 40 to 60 miles per hour and they were mainly at the coastal waters, the coastline, some of the higher peaks and those same areas today will be seeing the very gusty winds at times. so as we go into time by tonight, look how these winds have strengthened. now through the golden gate, 34 miles per hour at 07:30pm. 31 in sandra fell and santa rosa. 27. so take your pick. as you head inland. even many areas of pretty gusty. so that does raise concerns. these gusts really gusty winds. many of the northerly i'm going to certainly bear watching. and in terms of temperatures, what we do have at least mild temperatures there by midnight. i wanted to show you these winds to die down a little bit, but not a lot.

still gusting in the 20's and some of the coastal areas. so in terms of temperatures, well, not bad. that's part of the good news. no more triple digit temperatures. not for us. not today. just a matter days ago, we really have hot temperatures, but antioch will it will peak at 88. some areas may push into 90 but not many san francisco's forecast today at 68 degrees and 81 degrees in santa rosa. a look ahead. take a look. we got very mild conditions. i would say all the way through the end of spring and then summer arrives on thursday and a little pop in temperatures on thursday. so it's a fairly good conditions. but there is red, a red flag warning for the sacramento valley. that's what? yeah, because he concerns are right now. and that kicks in tonight at 11 o'clock and last all the way through sunday at 10 actually 8 o'clock. i think that's a big concern for really hot and dry without weather. low

humidity, high winds, right? hot temperatures. absolutely not a good combination. yeah, not the best combination. and just hoping that things stay safe of people take the proper precautions, create that defensible space around their homes. thanks so much, kathy. thank you. >> san francisco police and state and federal authorities continue to tackle the fentanyl crisis in the tenderloin in san francisco making hundreds of arrests. it's an initiative that went in place back in july of last year. kron four's dan kerman takes a look at the progress made so far. >> with stepped up federal, state and local law enforcement during the day. the dea says drug dealers in the tenderloin. been doing much of their sales after dark. so in the last month, federal law enforcement officers have added extra agents at night and the results have been significant. >> we get 23 operations of the course of 28 days out of those. we 48 arrests. i was 40 arrests. we charged a 23 individuals with federal charges. we seized over 11

pounds of fentanyl, brian clark, but the san francisco office of the drug enforcement administration says. >> to put that in perspective, 11 pounds of fentanyl is 5 kilograms, which the dea says has the potential of killing 2.5 million people. this has been a long time opener, drug market. you know, it's not going to change overnight it, but it's going to take consistent, constant pressure. the dea says federal state and local law enforcement plan to keep up the pressure. we're going to use surveillance undercover agents controls buys wire taps. we're going after the money service businesses that are laundered drug proceeds specht dan kerman kron. 4 news. >> now to a massive drug bust in san francisco's mission district. police say a resident alerted them about a car allegedly involved in drug sales. >> officers found that car near 17 they shot. will streets discovering more than half a million dollars in cash and drugs, including cocaine, meth and mushrooms. they

arrested 2 suspects in the car on multiple charges. in the south bay. a business owner milpitas is picking up the pieces after a break-in at his restaurant. you can see the damage done. korea las vegas on north milpitas boulevard. the owner tells us it happened shortly after midnight on thursday. the total costs and damages $3300. 2000 of that is just to replace that window. and today marks the opening the grand opening of the unicoi long peace and friendship garden in san francisco's visitation valley. the the park is in honor of grandma wong. you just saw a picture there. she died at the age of 89 after a 17 year-old attacked her in 2019. she died from her injuries in january 2020, her name or i means abundant love organizers say, and that's what the creators want people to take away from this new park. the park's organizers say they want to break the cycle of violence by creating a joyous, inclusive and safe space. today's event

features live performances from many cultural groups, including west african drummers and a lion dancers. and today marks world elder abuse awareness day and the fbi is seeing a growing number of reported elder abuse cases. federal data shows at least 1.6 billion dollars in losses from january to may of this year. that's up nearly 300 million dollars from the same time last year. they say criminals frequently target older adults who can be perceived to be more vulnerable. interesting among the most common schemes reported last year included tech support scams, romance scams, investment scams and government impersonation scams. and some sad news for the palo alto community. mike's diner bar is closing for good. the restaurant on middlefield road has been a staple in the area for nearly 3 decades. the owner says the restaurant just couldn't bounce back from the pandemic and the last day for mike's diner bar is tomorrow. the 16? tackling economic recovery remains a statewide focus at a

special hearing this week. state officials including assembly member matt haney. sure the steps taken and the work that remains to help cities recovering from the pandemic over the next year. additional hearings will be held highlighting topics such as empty businesses, public safety and sanitation, homelessness and the fentanyl crisis. >> everyone who? works here, who lives here, who visit here? we are interconnected. we will rise and fall together. there's no downtown without businesses that can open here and thrive. here without buildings that are full of tenants where people coming here and walking around and there's no downtown without the people who make sure that this place is operational, that it's safe, that it's clean. the security officers, the janitors. >> members of labor and business communities were in attendance at this as well as representatives from the

mateo county supervisors approved raising the base pay for regular county employees to $30 an hour. the move impacts more than 70 workers. the board's action aligned with what a task force determined to be a livable wage. the task force looked at

the cost of food, child care, health care, housing, transportation and taxes. officers detained 5 people including 3 minors in oakland. investigators say the group rammed into a patrol car while trying to flee officers. it happened friday morning on foster avenue and bernhard drive near 80 officers say the suspect's car was connected to an armed robbery out of san leandro. no one was hurt. the case is now being handled by san leandro police. we now know the identity of the man killed in a hit and run earlier this week in san francisco, a car struck. 41 year-old mcgill the river cruise at the intersection of mission and cortland avenue, flowers and candles now lie in the area. police say that crash happened shortly before 4 monday morning. officers are asking anyone with information or video of the collision to please get in touch. ev charging access is expanding in san francisco. mayor london breed launching a pilot program allowing more curbside

kathy trafton in the weather center. you can give us a better understanding of what we should be with this weekend's warnings. kathy? >> yes, it is the last weekend of spring. we'll have seasonal temperatures all the way through the end of the season. the concern today, however, is indeed the elevated concern about fire. it is going to be dry, but we have gusty winds, too. look at this picture, the golden gate bridge. it looks like chamber of commerce weather looks like a postcard. i know it's a live camera because i can see a boat going on the waters there. so it is beautiful. visibility is terrific. however, again, the winds are the big concern at this hour. temperatures right now mainly in the 50's still warm 66 degrees. and he really popping up early this morning. so right now we've seeing some winds really in the 20's. 24 in san francisco right through the golden gate. up to 29 degrees. that's in, sandra fell. and santa rosa. we're

going to see things really strengthen. the winds will really kick in and by this evening at 05:45pm. the forecast is for gust 37 miles per hour in san francisco. 25 petaluma 30 san francisco and 33 in half moon bay. these winds are concerning with coupled with the low humidities and the warm temperatures. the winds are really a big concerns. so we do know there was a red flag warning in effect starting tonight at 11 o'clock going through tomorrow. at 8 o'clock for the central valley for the san joaquin and sacramento valleys and into solano county. so we'll keep an eye on that and chat about it. more coming up in weather. all right, kathy, thank you so much. >> 4 is your local election headquarters. and with less than 5 months left until election day, a new poll shows democrat adam schiff significantly ahead. republican steve garvey in california's u.s. senate race. our capitol correspondent eytan wallace reports.

>> democrat adam schiff, thank you, everybody. and republican steve garvey. you're looking at the candidates squaring off for the u.s. senate seat long held by late senator dianne feinstein. according to a new poll from the public policy institute of california, schiff is leading garvey by 25 points last month during a one-on-one interview with garvey expressed confidence he can win where we have common six-and-a-half minds, i think is minor miracle and we will win because we care about all people that loyola law school professor jessica levinson says that will be very challenging in a state where registered democrats outnumber registered republicans by about 2 to one. i don't think there's anything that steve garvey can do. i think that steve garvey is the opponent that adam schiff wanted. and we all essentially knew that this race was over. once it became a top 2 finish with adam schiff and steve garvey. the pull also findg in the race for president, democrat joe biden will easily win the state of california against republican donald trump. but in the same poll, more than

half of respondents also said they disapprove of the job. biden is doing. it comes as 36% of respondents said the economy and cost of living is their top issue. priority followed by housing, affordability, homelessness, crime and government. mark baldassare as the poll director it. mean, the economy we asked people were the thoughts about. >> one of the economic conditions going to be during the next 12 majority of people say that they expect been economic times on that topic. a majority of respondents said they would prefer to pay lower taxes and have a state government that provides fewer services. it's for that reason why baldessari says he was surprised to see more than 6 out of 10 respondents said they will vote no on a ballot measure that would make it tougher for state lawmakers to raise taxes. specifically. the proposal will require voters to approve every new tax or tax governor gavin newsom and democrats in the legislature are opposed to the measure and filed a lawsuit in the state supreme court to take it off

the ballot. citing concerns is unconstitutional and interferes with the role of government. but supporters say the measures all about protecting taxpayers were returning power to them away from the politicians. >> so again, they have the final say in the future on all new state and local taxes. rob lapsley of the california business roundtable is a major proponent of the measure. he believes the majority of californians do support the initiative, but he feels the poll question was difficult to understand because it included the measures formal ballot summary and title is published by attorney general rob bonta just as he does with every ballot measure. some have described the way bunt awarded the title and summary as convoluted and lengthy causing voter fatigue and confusion. it can be very frustrating voters if they're confused about what exactly a measure would do. >> we see this in many other areas where if people aren't sure what the specific impact of their vote will be, then they either won't vote for that measure or they'll vote

now. >> and the poll also found 54% of californians disapprove of the job. governor gavin newsom is doing and it's even worse for the legislature with roughly 6 out of every 10 californians saying they disapprove what's happening and that building reporting in tom wallace kron 4 news. >> big news this week from the supreme court. the high court struck down a trump era ban on bump stocks which allow semiautomatic weapons to fire like machine guns. the supreme court ruled the trump administration did not follow federal law when it banned bump stocks. the ban came after a gunman used bump stocks. a rapid fire go to accessory to opened fire at a music festival in las vegas, killing nearly 60 people there. many republicans are standing by the supreme court. well, democrats are saying the move rose back, gun control. >> second amendment i stand by. the supreme court has ruled. let's move on with it. what the court did today is really rolling back. >> but otherwise, progress to be made.

>> president biden now calling on congress to act on this. he wants lawmakers to ban bump stocks and pass an assault weapons ban. say police are investigating almost a dozen robberies related to bank visits in the past 90 days. kron four's gayle ong reports. >> warning from antioch police alerting residents to stay vigilant after victims were robbed after leaving local banks doesn't surprise me. i've been here for 28 years. it's gotten continuously worse. according to a police detective that aim to robbery suspects after a foot pursuit. one of the suspects was carrying a firearm. as of friday. there are close to a dozen open robbery investigations involving bank visit. the crime has increased even during the daytime. >> doesn't matter when you go, i just hope you keep your head on the school. lonnie smith says he hears about these incidents on the nextdoor app. >> even a chase bank was robbed last week. but what happens if people sit out

because they would follow a person all the way home, matter where they live even from here to open, which is about 10 miles, about 7, 8, miles. a right to the driveway. police say 4 of the robberies happened at a different location after the victim's left. the banks. >> in 6 other instances, robberies happened in the bank, parking lots. police say the suspects stole cell phones, wallets and money. so you just got to be careful. and i think sometimes we get complacent. >> phones and stuff like that looking down and not paying attention to us around us. so that's important. if you know what time we're in today. >> we've got to attention any apd is giving the same advice and as people should avoid carrying large amounts of money, walk in well, lit areas and report any suspicious behavior to police in antioch, gayle ong kron. 4 news. >> and this morning, santa rosa police are warning of a rise in gang-related violence. there. officers arrested several boys between the ages of 13 to 15 in connection to robberies and assaults near

the santa rosa transit mall. police say the latest attack happened on june 6 when a teenage boy was beaten unconscious by 10 people. police say these crimes increased demand on law enforcement resources. law enforcement officials did not release the names of the arrest of suspects because they are minors. on friday called for employees, volunteered at food banks around the bay area every year. kron four's parent company nexstar broadcasting host what's called founders day. it's a day for employees to give back. now, this is video from the food bank of contra costa and solano counties. you can see all the help for workers there in their blue shirts. volunteers boxed up food which was delivered to families and individuals in need. now we know that food banks usually get a lot more attention during the holidays like thanksgiving and christmas. but there is absolutely a need in the summer months as well. >> continue see a high need in our community. we currently over 400,000 people every

can make a monetary donation or volunteer at your local food bank as well. so many different ways to help. and findings from a new audit are putting the fda and hot seat for 2022. is nationwide. baby formula shortage and investigation by the department of health and human services found it took the fda more than 15 months to afford an e-mail from a whistleblower over conditions at an abbott nutrition factory in michigan, 2 babies later died and several more hospitalized after drinking powdered formula made at that factory. the facility was temporarily closed for several months resulting in a nationwide formula shortage that year. >> coming up on the kron morning news. san francisco bay ferry rates are on the rise. a look at how much more you can expect to pay. plus, the alameda county fair kicked off on friday. look at that. a look at some of the fun you can expect this weekend is coming up. >> today is dry. and when day

can we expect in terms of our weather? >> well, it's beautiful. no doubt about that. i love this picture of the golden gate bridge. it is live, but there is nothing happening except a few boats on actually can also see that traffic on the golden gate bridge. it's horrific conditions. it's going to be warm but not hot. it's going to be a little bit on the dry side and a lot windy. so we do have concerns elevated concerns for fire conditions. so be very careful as you head on out in terms of temperatures across the state, we're in the 50's along the coastline, at least for northern and central california into the 60's. as you head down to santa barbara la and san diego centered central california. and then in the inland areas warmer yet already 73 degrees. and that's in bakersfield. 64. it will heat up, especially in the inland areas. and this area of high pressure, of course, is affecting off our coastline. but the difference is there's an area of low pressure moving to our north and that is going

a little bit of rain in parts of washington and oregon for us. it keeps our temperatures kind of mild, not trip. terribly hot earlier this week. just a few days ago, we had triple-digit temperatures in some areas in the bay area, but not for us today through there is the rest of the rain heading up parts of portland and into parts of the state of washington. so they've got some rain there for us is just has a moderating effect on our weather. so our temperatures this afternoon as we go into the warm part of a day, 68 degrees for san francisco. 74 today in oakland, 84 of allay 85 santa rosa. 88 degrees at the forecast for antioch. i would not be surprised if we saw some numbers pushing into 90's, but it is not toasting hot in terms of temperatures that will keep things on the mild side. you know, this is very last day of last weekend of spring for us. so the last few days of spring. well, that's all the way through wednesday. and then on

hot. the concern, of course, is the gusty winds. and the concern is for elevated fire conditions. we're not under any watches and warnings here. however, in the sacramento valley stretching into solano county. there is an heat, a red flag warning in effect tonight through tomorrow night. but the fire concerns already are with us because it humidity is quite low. now, this is a great view from mount tam a pious. you see nothing but clear skies may be a little haze in the atmosphere, but things are beautiful. temperatures at this hour mainly in the 50's and then in the bay area. however, antioch already has popped up to 66 degrees. and in san jose, it's 62 degrees in terms of those winds. and i mention gusty winds. you bet. yesterday, the past 24 hours, we saw gust to 40 to 60 miles per hour. even in this early morning hour, we're seeing winds already in the 20's, especially along the coastline, 23 degrees in san francisco. 29 degrees. winds now clocked at half moon bay.

>> big news this week from the supreme court. the high court struck down a trump era ban on bump stocks which allow semiautomatic weapons to fire like machine guns. the supreme court ruled the trump administration did not follow federal law when it banned bump stocks the ban came after a gunman used bump stocks, a rapid fire gun accessory to open fire at a music festival in las vegas, killing nearly 60 people. many republicans are standing by the supreme court's decision. well, democrats are saying the move rolls back. gun control. >> it's the second amendment i stand by the supreme court has ruled. let's move on with it. what the court did today really rolling back. >> but otherwise, progress to be made. >> president joe biden now calling on congress to act. he wants lawmakers to ban bump stocks and pass assault weapons ban. people in parts of santa clara and santa cruz counties may spot at low flying helicopters and drones

next week pg and e plans to conduct a public safety power shutoff trail on monday and tuesday. the utility says they do not expect the drill to actually interrupt anyone's pout. police arrested 2 more miners in connection to a deadly shooting in sunnyvale. the incident happened back in april on sand or other south bernardo avenue and evelyn cpavenue near the diamond gas station. police say they found a man inside a car with gunshot wounds. he later died in the hospital last month. officers arrested one suspect in connection to that shooting. police arrested the other 2 suspects this week. and now to a massive drug bust in san francisco's mission district. >> police say a resident alerted them about a car allegedly involved in drug sales. >> officers found the car near 17th and shot will streets discovering more than half a million dollars in cash and drugs, including cocaine, meth and mushrooms. they arrested 2 suspects in the car on multiple charges. in the south bay. a business owner in

milpitas is picking up the pieces after a break-in at his restaurant. you can see the damage done. korea las vegas on north milpitas boulevard. the owner tells us it happened shortly after midnight thursday. the total cost damages is $3300. 2000 of them just to replace that window. as san francisco's district attorney brooke jenkins is hitting the campaign trail. the da met with dozens of community members thursday at manny's in the mission district to talk about her re-election campaign and public safety during a moderated discussion. jenkins answer questions about the fentanyl crisis. she says her office made 800 and 50th onate narcotics arrests. but 75% of dealers remain on the streets. and kaiser in sandra fell is getting creative in the fight against drug overdose deaths. the healthcare provider rolled out a new narcan vending machine. proffers lezla gooden reports on that. >> i knew narcan vending machine is now available to residents in marin county. the free vending machine is located at kaiser

areas we do see some patches of low clouds such as at the coastline, but not everywhere. even we've got some beautiful conditions there. in terms of the clear skies. we also have other conditions to be concerned about. that would be the windy conditions right now. if i step back, you can see at this hour it is 23 miles per hour. winds going right through the golden gate. 27 in sandra fell. 22 petaluma 27 also in santa rosa. and 29 in half moon bay, not quite as breezy yet inland, but that will change. now, take a look. as we go through the day will stop at the early evening at 06:15pm. look at that gusting 37 miles per hour in san francisco. 36, half moon bay. and there's a northerly component to some of these winds, a bit of a westerly winds also coming through san francisco. 26 mile an hour winds this evening in calistoga that the 29 26 in napa. 22 oakland and 19 in san jose. so it is breezy and you

seeing this warming coming up. why? well, there's an area of high pressure, of course, not at all unusual for this time of year. here's the high well off our coastline, but notice this area of low pressure right here. it's good. it's well to our north. influencing our weather, though. it's not bringing us rain, but it is cooling things a little bit. we've got bit more of a zonal flow, a west to east flow coming right our area. so will keep things seasonal in terms of temperatures. but if you're of course, up in the pacific northwest, that translates into some rainy conditions in some areas. so you can see right here up in portland, there was some rain, high temperatures today. this is pretty seasonal now. we'll see naimi numbers in the 50's and 60's white along the coast. san francisco 68 degrees. 81 for nevado and napa 80 degrees and delay. whoa, 87 conquered 88 in antioch. some areas could push up into the low 90's. our concerns are, of course, for the fire

then, they've become a force of perseverance against intolerance, inspiring audiences through the power of their music. and here to share more is jacob stenberg, artistic director. good morning to you. good morning. thanks for having me. course. and we're so glad to have you here with us. so, you know, tell us a bit about how this month has been going for you. first of all, i'm sure you've been very busy. we love pride month. we were so supported by our local community. >> what we're doing, national anthems for afc the new professional women's soccer team. it's their first ever pride night. so we'll be there tomorrow will perform for the the mayor and city hall of to uplift us during this month and year round and the local and to partner with us often 12 months of the year, really love to highlight us and give us an extra month in june. yeah, it is so important to also recognize that it's not just performances during pride month that you're also active throughout the yeah, we have 3 major perbormances with all

300 members of the corps may be another 100 performances with small groups here and there throughout the year. incredible 300 member chorus and to tell us a bit about how the course has evolved over the years to, you know, some things have changed over time. for example, when we started, we were organization just 4 game. and now we we acknowledge all elements of the gender spectrum. we have trans singers and not binary singers, but some things have stayed the touring and national travel was really important. back in 1981, when there weren't other courses and we wanted to or to 8 cities, all 8 cities created courses. and now there's more than 250 north america. we continue that this summer when we travel to the midwest where they're seeing so many anti lgbtq pieces of proposed legislation. so we want to run to those places lift up the amazing work being done in those communities and raising money for local nonprofits there. yes, and that is all part of your love tour but is coming up as well. the love to are coming up this july. yeah. tell us a bit about that.

we're going to head to 3 cities in the midwest. iowa city, des moines and omaha. when we're in each city will put a partner with the local coroner, says and in each place will also work with local nonprofits, including iowa, safe schools and out grass cut. and we love these groups because they do both amazing local community programming but also statewide legislative tell us to about what sort of what can people do take away an experience when they watch. one of your performance is whether it's this month or during the we always try to make sure that there's joy so many times concerts can feel like homework. we're like like you have to be challenged and we love concerts to be fun, joyful. you can always expect a little laughter. we always spring power and i think the 3rd key piece is always something unexpected. you can always expect a little surprised, ok? that's quite a tease, right? haha.

>> now, tell us to about this that what you know, your vision for the course this year, especially given all of the things that are going on in terms of lgbtq rights in the country right now. >> as i was planning this entire season, starting from the holiday and going through this love to are i foresaw the possibility that we might be inundated with stories about hatred or controversy or conflict. and that would be too hard to find love stories and our daily lives. so each concert this season from the holiday to the concert we did of movie music to this summer concert. we have coming up this tuesday. all have a strong focus on all the aspects of love from romantic love to self love. love of the earth. the way we memorialize and love those who came before us. so that's the island of adding love stories to the world has been a really key focus of the season. and that's a beautiful thing. and it for people who are watching this locally and want to catch you guys perform locally.

it happened friday morning on foster avenue and bernhardt drive near 80 officers say the suspect's car was connected to an armed robbery out of san leandro. no one was hurt. the case is now being handled by san leandro police. now know the identity of the man killed in a hit and run earlier this week in san francisco, a car struck. 41 year-old mcgill the river cruise at the intersection of mission and cortland avenue, flowers and candles. now lay in the area. police say the crash happened shortly before 4 monday morning. officers are asking anyone with information or video of that collision to please get in touch ev charging access is expanding in san francisco. mayor london breed launching a pilot program allowing more curbside charging the city is hoping to install more than 1700 public stations by 2030. right now, there are less than 1200 before selecting locations. the program hopes to gain public feedback and applications from charging providers. still ahead on the

weekend's warnings. kathy, exactly. so that red flag warning for solano county. >> and into the sacramento valley that goes into effect tonight at 11 o'clock pm. it continues until tomorrow night. sunday night at 8 o'clock pm. now we're not under any advisories here in the bay area yet, but we do have elevated fire concerns. yesterday. we had gusty winds 40 to 60 miles per hour. it's some of the coastal waters. some of the immediate coastline areas out in the mountain peaks and through the gusts of they've got the wind. so anyway, we do have big concerns. at this hour we do have some gusty winds. temperatures are dropping, though. we're in the 50's and 60's right now. this afternoon numbers will be seasonable. so in the 80's in the war, warmest inland spots, maybe low 90's, but the winds, that's the big concern. even at this hour this early in the morning. 23 miles per hour. winds coming through the golden gate. 29 miles per hour. winds at half moon bay, 27 in santa rosa. and guess

followed by housing, affordability, homelessness, crime and government. mark baldassare as the poll director it. mean, the economy we asked people were the thoughts about. >> one of the economic conditions going to be during the next 12 majority of people say that they expect been economic times on that topic. a majority of respondents said they would prefer to pay lower taxes and have a state government that provides fewer services. it's for that reason why baldessari says he was surprised to see more than 6 out of 10 respondents said they will vote no on a ballot measure that would make it tougher for state lawmakers to raise taxes. specifically. the proposal will require voters to approve every new tax or tax governor gavin newsom and democrats in the legislature are opposed to the measure and filed a lawsuit in the state supreme court to take it off the ballot. citing concerns is unconstitutional and interferes with the role of government. but supporters say the measures all about protecting taxpayers were returning power to them away from the politicians.

>> so again, they have the final say in the future on all new state and local taxes. rob lapsley of the california business roundtable is a major proponent of the measure. he believes the majority of californians do support the initiative, but he feels the poll question was difficult to understand because it included the measures formal ballot summary and title is published by attorney general rob bonta just as he does with every ballot measure. some have described the way bunt awarded the title and summary as convoluted and lengthy causing voter fatigue and confusion. it can be very frustrating voters if they're confused about what exactly a measure would do. >> we see this in many other areas where if people aren't sure what the specific impact of their vote will be, then they either won't vote for that measure or they'll vote now. >> and the poll also found 54% of californians disapprove of the job. governor gavin newsom is doing and it's even worse for the legislature with roughly 6 out of every 10 californians saying they

right. well, san francisco police and state and federal authorities continue to tackle the fentanyl crisis in the tenderloin area. >> making hundreds of arrests. it's an initiative that went in place back in july of last year. and copper is dan kerman takes a look at the progress made so far. >> with stepped up federal, state and local law enforcement during the day. the dea says drug dealers in the tenderloin have been doing much of their sales after dark. so in the last month, federal law enforcement officers have added extra agents at night and the results have been significant. >> we get 23 operations of the course of 28 days out of those. we 48 arrests. i was 40 arrests. we charged a 23 individuals with federal charges. we seized over 11 pounds of fentanyl, brian clark, but the san francisco office of the drug enforcement administration says to put that in perspective, 11 pounds of fentanyl is 5 kilograms, which the dea says has the potential of killing 2.5

zonal flow that would be the flow of wind from the west to the east and the low pressure moves away. later this week, our temperatures will start to build up once again. here's a low. this is what's producing counter clockwise flow. and of course, the rain in the portland area. our temperatures well lovely, seasonal. in fact, not quite forecasting 90, but i wouldn't be surprised to see a few 90's. and then in the east bay atx, antioch, as forecast for eighty-four degrees. napa, 82 santa rosa. 83 redwood city, 68 degrees and 73 in mountain view. so we're really in for a lovely afternoon. the concern is the fire elevated fire sure. and especially in the sacramento valley. if you head that direction, we're really in for some concerns because of the red flag warning, right? so what are some steps that people should be taking are thinking about as we head into these potential, you know, elevated fire risk >> conditions, well, everything you can do to

prevent fires so you don't want to be out there with your equipment. you know, weed whacking today because my cause a spark that could be a big problem. >> you certainly don't want to, you know, be dragging chain with a truck and then to see that in the field with a spark, you know, anything to do with sparks. if you have, if you want to barbecue, that's fine. have to do it carefully. of course. so that's i guess one of the main concerns and just be aware, are things out if you need to clear things out to make a defensible space. yeah, absolutely. well, thanks so much, kathy, for those helpful tips. >> and check that out. the international bird rescue released a group of seabirds friday in sausalito. >> beautiful view of the golden gate bridge right there. just gorgeous. now those brown pelicans were taken in and cared for by the california wildlife center in fairfield, the center says they rescued more than 370 injured pelicans in april. most of them came from the monterey and santa cruz areas. environmentalist are
