>> news station. this is. 11. >> now at 11 recent wildfires in the bay area raising some concerns as we head in transition into summer with the forecast tells us about the risk for fires. good evening. thank you for joining warning through monday. the meaning this means that that region is a at greater risk for a wildfire. let's go straight to kron four's gayle ong. she can break it down for a scale. >> yes, sarah said this is mostly for the sacramento area. and that does include parts of solano county and lake county. and you can see the map here. so we've been through this before it is that season. we are concern about

some fire. so we are expecting relative humidity to go down to 10 to 20% and the winds will be on the valley. floors will be gusting for 10 to 20 miles per even higher in the peaks. so here's the fire weather model a sunday afternoon and late afternoon we see the slight risk showing in parts of santa rosa, pittsburgh and the east bay. and that will pop once again on monday. that because we have those warmer temperatures in some dry feel and also the mainly the winds. so here's to the future wind gusts now. notice that sunday, we're going to be just mainly breezy by the coast. but as you go to the afternoon, this is 04:00pm here. you could see winds close to 40 miles per hour up in santa rosa, 30 miles per hour in calistoga. so expect tomorrow to be a very breezy day. that will be a main factor in the day and for the evening and then that's winds will stick around untold monday as well. so we will be

starting the week off on a breezy note. and of course, you know, just be keep in mind. just don't want to start any sparks. we have seen a couple fresh fires pop up sunday father's day low 60's by the coast, 80's inland and mostly sunny skies. to you. thank you, gayle. >> fire crews across california preparing for fire season as we head into the warmer summer months in the south bay, fire crews stopped a grass fire from spreading today in san jose. firefighters say it started at san felipe and lost in the most roads. it burned about 18 acres. firefighters say some crews remain on scene tonight to keep an eye on hot spots. and in southern california, a wind driven wildfire is tearing through thousands of acres of brush endangering buildings and frustrating firefighters battling hard to get under control. this is video from the citizen app. it has forced officials to order evacuations and to close a section of a heavily traveled 5 freeway in the grapevine,

firefighters continue to try and contain the flames and gorman. and we're following developing news out of detroit, michigan tonight where a gunman opened fire on families at a park this afternoon. authorities say 9 people have been taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. 2 children are among the victims. one of them just 8 years old. officers say the suspect died by suicide in a home nearby after the shooting. investigators say the gunman had no connection to any of the victims. the shooting happened at a splash pad where kids were playing in fountains and water sprays. we're working to get more details on this and we hope to have that for you on kron. 4 dot com. and new at 11. one man is dead following a shooting in san francisco's mission district tonight. police are still looking for the shooter. it happened in an alley on why street near the bart 16th street location at 4 in the morning. the victim was taken to a hospital where they later died. anyone with

information is asked to contact the san francisco police department also new at 11 san bruno police arrest a 17 year-old boy after they say threatened to kill a man of middle eastern descent while he was praying outside. according to officers, the victim was threatened with this knife and a shopping center parking lot el camino real the teenager, the teenage boy who was also of middle eastern descent, approached the man and made derogatory statements. officers tracked him down and arrested him charged him with committing a hate crime. san francisco family is one step closer to healing after a park was renamed in honor of a grandmother who was brutally beaten there. this happened 5 years ago and she later died from her injuries. family and friends gathered at the park for a ribbon cutting ceremony today. she lived across the street from those >> her legacy. >> her spirit is here sunday. yeas says it's healing to have this park now named after her

grandmother. you hong kong was walking at the park formally named visitation valley playground when she was brutally beaten in 2019. the 89 year-old died from her injuries a year later, it was a place of tragic loss. >> my grandmother, huang was attacked here. >> san francisco police arrested 18 year-old keon together and for the attack. says while they continue to wait for a trial, this is a step in getting closure. we feel a sense of and healing because the trial has been delayed and it's been over 5 years. >> we still haven't >> the close the case. and so this is victory for people. you worked with city leaders to rename the park, turning the pain of losing her grandmother into something positive for the community. people can experience. >> joy and peace and harmony

hospital according to police. witnesses helped identify the shooter and they found her at an apartment on lago street. she was booked into jail for attempted murder and assault. 3 members of the hells angels motorcycle club have been sentenced to life in prison. the u.s. district attorney's office announced yesterday that jonathan nelson, russell taylor ot in bryan when when we're operating in the bay area, they were convicted for conspiracy to commit murder. fbi agent describes the 3 as the most violent of the dozens. convicted. 5 other members pled guilty and were sentenced to 84 months in prison. hells angels runs out of sonoma county with bases in santa rosa and fresno. in the east bay residents and public parks workers are expressing concerns over the delay in collecting funds for repairs and upgraded security to protect public spaces from crime. the bonds at gardens at lake merritt is still trying to recover after a burglary

happened there in january. they're trying to raise $100,000 to beef up the garden security system after a thief stole $20,000 worth of bonsai trees. so far the garden has raised over $87,000, but they need more help to finish up and finish fundraising. you can donate in person or online. this year's the gardens 25th anniversary oakland. meantime, lakeside park, duck pond and bird yard has been closed for repairs since last year. the city of oakland says the pond is in dire need of restoration. they say the filtration systems are broken and to keep the pollen running would create hazardous conditions due to the amount of birds. the rotary nature center is working on fixing it. but some residents say it should have been done by now. >> it's still it's been like this for. over year at this point. possibly 2. so there's just i don't think there's any real reason they can't get

as well. so all the activity is happening in the pacific northwest. and that is where our winds are coming from. there's an area of low pressure, a crossing over and that is bringing us those gusty conditions that future wind gusts. we're seeing 30's around santa rosa along the coast. much breezier and pretty calm as you make your way inland. but as i take you through tomorrow morning will remain breezy in the north bay and the coast. but late afternoon in the afternoon, that's when you will notice that pop around 02:00pm hour. and it should consistently breezy. it would be more like burst of some winds. but just the overall expect a breezy day here now we're not under a red flag warning, but a part of sacramento solano counties and lake counties are and you can see monday that breeze will stick around as well. it will be starting off the week with some winds. here's that red flag warning started 11:00pm. and that's going to be in effect until 08:00pm monday for the sacramento area. as you can see, parts of

and healing for anyone touched by hiv and aids the last decades. and as the memorial nears its 30th year of being designated a national memorial by congress, it's also playing a major part, inspiring a brand new memorial kron four's john tribble reports. >> it may just be the quietest spot in san francisco. aside from the ever-present chirping of golden gate park's many birds and the wind rushing through the towering redwoods about. one of the few sounds you may encounter down. here is the sound of travis mathews head groundskeeper of the national aids memorial grove tending to this very intentionally landscape corner of the park. >> is that you move in and out of spaces of darkness and light. and i mean, you can see just behind us here you go into the redwoods and it's a darker space. and then you come out into don't opens up to all this light. >> this is a place of meeting to so many, but especially to those in the lgbt community

who gather here for remembrance and healing. i had a partner who died from aids in 1993 before lifesaving medications came along. steve saga, sirs, the senior manager of the national aids memorial. this job was perfect for me through my work on able to help honor all of those lives that were lost to aids lives impacted by aids. >> this may be an incredibly beautiful sanctuary. but the story begins during one of the lgbt community's most painful chapters. the aids pandemic, which took the lives of thousands in the city alone and for a community that was oftentimes ostracized. aids only added to the stigma that so many faced. >> being aware at that time that the >> community, the community and people with hiv in age were. >> i'm being ignored and and hated

>> demonized. >> the memorial is truly been a beacon of love to the lgbt community, but its impact has been expanding more and more a sign of this soon to be unveiled in another part of golden gate park. >> this is the circle of friends. what many people consider to be the center of the national aids memorial grove in here, the names of some people who passed away from aids, but also those who donated to set this place aside. the circle also serves as the inspiration for one of the park's newest memorials. this memorial is going to be the first permanent memorial in the u.s. for cancer. just up the hill from the national aids memorial with a view as far as sutro tower. >> construction is about to start on a brand new beacon of love says daniel montas with san francisco rec and parks rec and park is partnering with bay area young survivors, which is a group that helps and provide support for people that have been diagnosed with cancer. much like the circle of friends in the aids memorial grove, the bay area, young survivors, cancer

memorial garden will feature a similar circular gathering space so people can look down at the words and then also up like do in this section, correct. and then there's also going to be like a metal kind of plaque breaking ground in the fall. this new memorial will transform this hillside much as the aids memorial grove did a quiet grove of redwoods. what's really exciting is that this is the first memorial to come to golden gate park since the aids memorial grove, which was 96. so that's over 2 decades. well, over 2 decades that we get a new memorial in golden gate park and that's really exciting. >> coming up northern california, native leads the california, native leads the u.s. open heading into the
