it out for blue skies for most this afternoon. this is what you can see by even 11 o'clock. it's even clearing along the coast. it will come back again for tomorrow and we're going to have a little help from some onshore winds at the surface, help out with some of these temps. now back to the excessive heat. look at the geography that's covered santa clara valley in this lot of the communities of tri valley. you're involved in this as well as a good chunk up there in the north bay selectively, though and notice how there's like a whole and parts of u.s. law. no county due to those onshore winds will get some of those this afternoon. got a little front up north. it's week going to help provide some of those onshore winds tomorrow, slight reduction of temperatures. calm winds, though, for right now. we'll see a little pick up this afternoon to get your 50's covering most of the bay 62 for antioch. 51 fremont and again 50's off towards the peninsula. couple degrees ahead of where number was from this time yesterday away. we go through the 90's as we top off and some locations to near 100. but again, it will be a one-day event getting a little better on your sunday. more details in a bit. stephanie. all right, dave, thank you.

>> we have not heard from or seen. oakland mayor sheng thao since the fbi raided her home. but her lawyer says that she is prepared to cooperate with authorities force charles clifford reports. >> well, oakland mayor sheng thao has not spoken publicly since federal agents entered her home on thursday morning. but her attorney said on friday that she's willing to cooperate with any investigation and that she has no plans to resign as mayor. they have not informed us that she's the target of anything. attorney tony brass who represents oakland, mayor sheng thao said on friday that so far no one from the fbi, the postal service or the irs. >> has spoken to the mayor about why they searched her home on thursday morning. he says he has no reason to believe the mayor has done anything wrong and that she is ready to answer any questions they might have. there's no indictment. >> there's no arrest warrant for her. so that is that's what's not happened. well, there is a search warrant for a location. >> the fbi has not revealed any specific details about the

search. only saying in a statement that the fbi is conducting court authorized law enforcement activity on maiden lane. we are unable to provide additional information at this time. but sources have told kron 4 that the search may be related to a federal investigation into alleged campaign finance violations. bres says he has no reason to believe the mayor has violated any such rules. i know of no reason. i know of no protocols that were not followed that call her ethics into question. mayor thao has not spoken or appeared publicly since thursday morning. brass says that's because she is trying to stay focused and doing her job. she has press in front of her home, which is incredibly distracting. and she has a very high pressure job. he also says that despite some calling on the mayor to step down, she has no intention of doing so. she seems determined to continue to be oakland's mayor and there's no reason why she shouldn't at this point. he also hopes that the public will let the legal process play out before passing judgment. i think that

were shot in the area after a sideshow took over a juneteenth celebration. today's lake fest features more than 100 artists, musicians and vendors selling food and drinks. it happens from 11 to 7 more than 20,000 people attended last year. and we now have a verdict on friday. a san francisco jury found david depape guilty on all charges in the state trial over the hammer attack on nancy pelosi's husband, paul jury deliberations lasted just over 2 days. the path was charged with first-degree burglary, false imprisonment of an elder threatening a family member of a public official and dissuading a witness. he faces up to life behind bars without the possibility of parole. friday's convictions in state court come weeks after a federal judge sentenced up for the hammer attack. the pups lawyer says he plans to appeal. police in oakland are investigating after a person riding their bike was hit and killed. it happened early friday morning in a

residential neighborhood at 1, 0, 5, 0, what a 5th avenue and june court. witnesses tell officers a speeding silver saturn sedan hit the victim. they say the driver got out of the car, removed the victim's bike from under the car and then left the area. people living in the area say speeding has been an issue and they've noticed speedbumps missing. san francisco police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and a warning that this video you're about to see may be graphic for some. police say this happened around 7 last night in the area of 8th and mission in the south of market neighborhood. this video from the citizen app shows paramedics helping the victim who later died at the hospital. police say they detained a possible suspect. they did not release any other details. a shooting happened just around the corner from another shooting earlier friday that injured one person citizen app. video shows police in the area of 11th in norfolk streets. no arrests may get. police say the person shot. he's at the hospital and

is expected to be okay. water main break flooded several homes friday near san francisco's glen park neighborhood. large volumes of water was seen streaming down. harper and randall street. one resident tells us city crews have been in the area working to fix underground pipes for quite some time. >> working the team. plumbing in the streets have been working on the pipes in the streets for about 7 months now. and they had just finished sealing up the street this past monday. and a miss him. so they're out there again. >> crews say 7 buildings were affected by the flooding. what man investigators say was pointing a gun at cars friday morning is in the hospital after being shot by a police officer. investigators say the man was waving a replica gun at cars. there are chevron gas joe davis avenue in newer boulevard. police say the officer who shot the man did

not realize that the gun was fake. the firearm was later determined to be a replica of a glock pistol. >> it is identical to a standard issue. glock pistol and it looks exactly like the replica it is intended to imitate. >> the suspect is expected to survive. people living in alameda county soon get more access to emergency medical care. the second level of the washington hospital in fremont becomes a trauma center starting in july. officials say the facility will provide 24 7 care for critically injured patients. this will be the county's 4th trauma center. joining highland hospital, it in medical center and ucsf benioff children's hospital in oakland. another raising canes is coming to the east bay. the food chain plans to open a restaurant this fall and the haywood retail center off mission boulevard earlier this year, chain announced it would also open in san jose in coma. the runs a restaurant out of oakland. for your money

this morning. gas prices are notorious for going up during the summer months, but could good news be on the way? well, first any justice is live for us now in walnut creek with what you need to know as you plan out your next road trip. good morning, tiffany. good morning, stephanie. exactly. summer travel, some of the highest gas prices you can see for the year. but there is some relieve. >> gas prices actually down compared to a month ago. so we want to talk about this a break. this down for you on this saturday morning. so national the national average is coming in at 3. 45 4 a gallon. but californians still paying higher paying for 81 for a gallon of gasoline. however, prices are down compared to last month here in california for regular currently, you'll paying for 81 at the pump. but last month who are paying about a dollar? more at 5.71. for premium.

good news this morning on firefighting efforts in sonoma county. >> crews say the point fire is now 80% contained and they do not expect any further fire activity stemming from that

blaze. cal fire says more than 20,000 feet of hose have been used to fight the point. fire the flames destroyed 3 buildings and damaged 2 others. we know at least 2 of those destroyed buildings or homes. and the biggest fire burning right now in our state. the sites fire remains active in colusa county. it's burned more than 19,000 acres and is 30% contained. cal-fire sharing this video showing 64 miles of control lines lay down to stop the spread of that fire. all right. taking a live look outside now from our mount tam camera looking gorgeous and beautiful blue skies up there as well. dave, what are you keeping an eye on? >> okay. they're stephanie. good morning. good morning, everybody. take care. that marine layer is what's working here because above us very much dry air and warm air to here's the east bay shoreline may recall. we talked about 15 minutes ago or so. this is pretty much covered up. now you can make out a little bit of the urban background. there is a stretch to peel away a bit. so everybody's going to

be pretty much in the sun today and warming very much so 50's for around the perimeter of the bay inland. we get about 65 antioch. slow going. but these numbers are probably start moving as we get to late in the morning. quick check in the future cast for not much to see whatever happens with that marine layer might be some lingering clouds along the coast. a little bit of the peninsula, but on balance will open up nicely tomorrow. thickens up just a touch. okay. for tomorrow morning. again, that mixes out nicely but will thicken up again by monday. now we do see the winds both today tomorrow working our magic on shore. that's a good thing. keeps those temperatures down a little bit. not a lot, but little bit. that's a weak effort. but at least it's the right direction. and you get that afternoon breeze cooking here. it will pop in certain spots. would you expect it right across the carquinez strait like this? this is one of the reasons why in solano county, they do. we're covering the carquinez strait is not directly in that heat advisory, but this might or technicality direction, the arrow, the winds that tells you onshore. we like that'll

keep up. het advisory today near 100 in london. 90's cover the east bay. we're talking about mid 90's here that we shave a good chunk off for tomorrow. sunny, not as hot 90's inland. we'll see 80's for the east bay cooling off a little bit more. so we're not as hot monday into tuesday. there's a minor little bump on wednesday before in a little front, we're getting little pieces of fronts to go to our north. there are enough to keep that on shore flow going. i know it's a minor distinction, but it keeps us lightning the cool category, but also that marine layer get shoved off to the east. we need that for the fires too. 74 san francisco !ú oakland, 92 san jose. there you have it highs today. again, 100 for livermore, antioch, a lot of readings. well, in the business of the 90's with 80's, even for the east bay shoreline, here's half moon bay still some fog at to the surface. notice 94 tomorrow by night monday, we're talking about 90 little bump here middle week, and it will kind of cool back off again. but through all of this, the winds remain on

shore. and we do have a little when you recall sometimes the sultry august september days, no winds at all. we have a little bit of a breeze. so that helps. all right. we'll always take a little bit of a breeze, especially the wet weather gets warmer stay. >> well, a judge this week ordered stanford university in stanford health care pay 10 million dollars in damages in connection to an employee's racial harassment case. that lawsuit filed back in 2017 by a former worker alleged the plantiffs co workers use the n word and mistreated black patients. one image included in the lawsuit shows a staffer dressed as a member of the ku klux. the day after the lawsuit was filed, the university's dean in hospital ceo sent an email to 22,000 staff members implying the employee had been dishonest. the jury ultimately found the email defamed. the plaintiff. stay till these officials give waymo the green light to expand outside of san francisco. you can soon spot

the autonomous vehicles in los angeles in san mateo, san mateo officials tried to push back on the expansion but were not successful. supervisor david campos says he's disappointed in the decision. it says the county hasn't heard from women about the plan to roll out the cars. >> communicate with local localities because they're governed by the pcs. so we need to create a regulatory framework. >> that monitors how these cars are performing. >> what i'm afraid of is that if we leave it all to the attack. >> and there aren't any. rails. that basically we're leaving it to an industry where we have companies are p and there are no rules of the road. >> tampa says he is all for innovative technology but is just not convinced these cars are safe. as a senator dave cortese weighing in as well.

this week he withdrew his bill that would have given cities the power to regulate the operation of babies. he says he pulled it because of disagreements with the assembly transportation committee what is it believed there should be a balance between state and local regulation when it comes to driverless cars. >> some can you imagine of something, you know, did happen around, unfortunate, you know something unfortunate happened around school site with an autonomous vehicle. you know, the pta would get involved, right? you know, probably the teachers would get involved be able to go right down to their school board. and then to their city council. they feel tickle talk to the mayor. they'd be able to say, look, put some precautions in place here. how do you go talk to dmv about any of that? and we don't even have a process for that. >> is plans to resubmit the bill in january of next year with more specifics be operations at airports and

near school zones and other areas. he hopes being more detailed will help get through. your local election headquarters? the california supreme court ruled a measure that would make it tougher for politicians to raise taxes must be removed from the november ballot. it's known as the taxpayer protection act or tpa. the measure would have required every new state and local tax increase be approved by voters. it already qualified for the november election ballot. but governor gavin newsom and many democrats argued it would leave illegally revise the state constitution and would interfere with the basic role of government. the state supreme court agreed. >> what they said was is that this clearly affects one of the core aspects of government taxation. and they said that it was safe. just such a substantial change that it amounted to revision rather than simply an amendment. and that's why the voters can't vote on it this november.

>> proponents for the measure say they will work to introduce another ballot measure in 2026. democrats and republicans in sacramento are coming together for a bill they say will hopefully bring smiles to millions of californians literally. it's known as the smile at the bill calls for low-income residents and rolled in the medical program to be eligible for tooth replacement coverage. right now. medicaid covers procedures to remove a tooth but not to replace it with an that. >> to be able to smile, to be confident in that job interview are on that date or in a family portrait are to do something as basic has properly chewing food. what is the point of being one of the wealthiest states in the world and not be able to provide basic rights to residents in need of basic dignity. >> as a republican here in sacramento, i can smile. we have this much bipartisanship together. let's all give a big smile.

>> police arrested a drunk driver for crashing into 2 utility poles in sebastopol. it happened around 11 thursday night at bodega in florence avenues. transformer was destroyed, causing parts of sebastopol to be without power for several hours. police say the driver was going more than 90 miles per hour. the draw first. the driver suffered minor injuries. and beware of the gold bar scam. police in brentwood say scammers posing as the u.s. government are telling victims their finances have been hacked. police say that the scammers then persuade victims to turn their cash assets into gold, then handed over to a person posing as a federal agent. police are asking people to please get in touch if they think they've been scammed. still ahead on the kron 4 morning news and new debate on the military draft. should women be draft. should women be included? stay with us.

the kron 4 morning news, san francisco health officials say they're seeing a decrease in drug overdose numbers. look inside the latest effort to save lives on city streets. and a san mateo father is making big strides towards helping his son battle a rare genetic brain disease hear his pledge to raise awareness and walk for strength. good morning. welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news. thank you so much for being here with us. let's get your day started with a look at the weather with mister dave spahr. good morning, dave. well, good morning, stephanie. good morning, everybody. another hot one coming our way. the heat spike expected this afternoon. that's going to push some of those inland highs. oh, yes.

>> back to the century, mark, not the first time we've seen it this year, but it will be another will shock to the system here a little bit. the good news is we are getting a continuous flow not just today tomorrow, but throughout next week of at least an onshore wind builds in intensity a little bit later on during the week. here's a quick shot of the east bay shoreline. you can see that fog we talk about this morning started to erode and peel away, giving us those cobalt blue skies in. yes, excessive heat we have today heat advisory that look at the geography that's covered. it looks like almost all of the east bay, including tri valley, east bay shoreline. typically not in that will. that will be plenty warm then. meanwhile, in the south bay, you're also saying that they're to a lot of santa clara valley and then up north and some of those valleys up in the north bay, such as in napa and portions of solano county, except though that onshore wind a little bit will help out. we have a weak front or backyard. you actually can't see and hear from this vantage point, but it will bring some slightly reduction of temperatures for tomorrow. 50's over most of the region. 65 meanwhile, for antioch and yes, a degree or 2 hotter than

yesterday's numbers were will be building on that this afternoon. look at that upper 90's by 2 o'clock. and again, topping off at about 100 some relief for tomorrow and into next week. your forecast stephanie. all right, dave, thank you. >> health officials in san francisco say they are seeing a decrease in overdose deaths. kron four's rob nesbitt takes a look at the program. the city says is saving lives. >> doctors with the department of health and san francisco talk today about buprenorphine micro. dosing which they consider to be an innovative way to treat fentanyl addiction. san francisco's night navigator program has been in the works since march every night from 08:00pm to midnight in the tenderloin health experts connect people struggling with addiction treatment. we conducted approximately 440 in the field. nighttime telehealth visits, director of behavioral health and mental health in san francisco. doctor hilary cummins says micro dosing buprenorphine has been one of the most successful forms of treatment of people. north iin is one of the 2 most highly effective medications. and

reduces the risk of overdose deaths by approximately 50%. the other medication as methadone. but there are strict regulations on who can prescribe that medication. doctor joanna eveland is the chief medical officer for people experiencing homelessness and for people who use drugs. she says that buprenorphine helps decrease the withdrawal symptoms that someone struggling with addiction experiences when they stop using harmful drugs. we know the printing is a highly effective medication for controlling, create things. >> my patients who are taking different if you report that they feel normal and stable, they can go back to work. they can take care of their families. the night navigator program does not just work to provide drug treatment in the tenderloin. doctor eveland is oftentimes on the other end of the phone during telehealth calls me late at night. >> working to remove the barriers that someone struggling with addiction might face. they need an id if they need. >> help getting their insurance updated if they need transportation to the pharmacy as well as offering hotel rooms or access to a shelter

bed for someone experiencing homelessness at the same time as an addiction to fentanyl. >> in addition to the night navigator program, the city also provides treatment with buprenorphine at several locations. >> including primary care clinics and homeless shelters. reporting in the newsroom. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> the overdose reversal. drug naloxone is now available for free at eligible organizations across our state. you can also find it at your local pharmacy in a twin path for around $20. police in newark this morning are investigating the 2022 unsolved death of a 24 year-old man. investigators say sergio was in a comatose state when he was taken by his friends to washington hospital in fremont, his friends claimed he was from a fall during a basketball game. but medical staff was suspicious of that stor saying the man's injuries didn't match what they were told. we're to ultimately died a few days later, investigators later learned from a witness. was hurt during a fight at ashley park in newark. now they're working ind out who was invo

officers say poenal witnesses are not cooperating with the investigation. they're asking anyone with information to give them a call. in the south bay, a local branch of the national labor relations board is taking up a case involving workers in san jose. complaint from the federal agency's office in oakland said premier recycle interfered with workers, efforts to organize for better pay and working conditions. the company is also accused of letting go of 7 workers keen to union activities and discouraging union membership. judge hears the case december 3rd, premier recycle has not responded to our request for comment. the contra costa county mosquito and vector control says 2 more dead birds tested positive for west nile virus. both were american prose found in concord. in all health. officials say 3 birds tested positive for the virus this year. scientists warn that as the summer warms up, there are higher chances of the virus spreading. car fire quickly

turned into a brush fire near i-580, in oakland citizen app. video shows that smoke near the 89 think golf links road exit around 6 friday evening. that incident shut down 2 westbound lanes for a few hours while crews work to contain this fire. no one was hurt. and a father is emma tate was making big strides towards helping his son battle. a rare genetic brain disease. randy allen set out this week to walk 68 miles a nod to the gene that impacts his son's disease. slc 6, a 8. it's where the brain does not have enough create an and that can result in cognitive delays, intellectual disabilities, even epilepsy. >> and, you know, with lucas to keep the suffers with this every day. and for me to go walk, 68 miss the least i can do to help raise friends, family mourns. i haven't heard from for a while, you know, reach out nicole are there's

there's opportunity this is a fundraiser. so it's been fantastic to have them reach out offer their support. so it's been overwhelming. >> allan wrapped up his walk last night. he says there is no cure for his son's disease, but they are looking for one and you can find more information on walk for strength. just a that up online. the supreme court upheld a federal law meant to protect domestic violence victims by restricting abusers from having guns. washington correspondent maddie beer-temple has reaction. >> in an 8 to one ruling, the court said the government can stop dangerous people from getting guns. specifically those found by a court to pose a credible threat of physical safety to another person. writing for the majority. chief justice john roberts said those with domestic violence restraining orders can be barred from having a gun. this ruling is a huge relief for women and children in this country. emma brown with the gun violence prevention group. giffords says if justices had

overturned the law, it could have been catastrophic for survivors of domestic violence. the fact that we are litigating and talking about whether or not people at the domestic violence restraining orders should have firearm access is ridiculous. the decision reverses a lower court ruling that said a texas man who hit and threatened to shoot his girlfriend could have a gun. >> syracuse law professor lauren golden didn't expect the court to rule in his favor. he was. >> reportedly seen dragging his then girlfriend out of the car by her hair in his opinion, justice roberts wrote, quote, since the founding our nation's firearm laws have included provisions preventing individuals who threaten physical harm to others from misusing firearms. i think this is the right decision. georgetown law dean, william treanor said justice is based their opinion on a broad view of history at the time of the founding. and so you don't look at. >> were their bans guns for people who commit domestic violence. you look at it where

their bans on guns for people are dangers. trainer says the court's lone dissenter justice clarence thomas took a narrower view of history. they do not take the same approach to what the original understanding >> this isn't the only second amendment case. the court decided this term last week justices overturned a ban on bump stocks in washington. i'm maddie beer-temple. the u.s. military has not activated a draft and more than 50 years. but congress is now debating whether to change that process. >> the proposals would expand the draft women for the first time in automatically register those eligible to be called up. democrats argue it's in the best interest of national security to include all able-bodied citizens, ages 18 to 25 in the draft. but despite recruitment challenges, republicans say the proposed requirement is unnecessary. we can recruit. >> good young men and women in the military without a draft. >> none of those proposals

star being pried show, you can't stop. the beat were excited to welcome our audiences have a happy pride. >> fantastic. it tell us to the organization itself, the history when it was started. >> sure, we started were founded in 1999. by kramer. he came across the day and started the oakland men's chorus. we've had variety of membership numbers from the as low as 25 to now our highest numbers last concert we had. 85 people are saying on stage, this one are running about 70. we've been around for quite a while. our mission is to give voice through song to a community where everyone matters. and we really take that to heart and have been over the last 25 years, putting ourselves out into the community and making sure that the community knows that we're here not just a saying but also to support. >> yeah, absolutely. and you know, ben, for as the artistic director tell us to about what kind of goes your mind as you're putting together these different acts and the different lineups in terms of what the group is going to be performing every year. sure. i mean, i we we try to have a

way, pushing some of those inland highs right up around the century. mark, it looks like and our heat advisory covers a little bit more territory than it frequently does. we'll show you that map and a bit. first things first, that fog peeling away. how about this? just a little bit of haze off towards the distance, cobalt blue. it looks like even in the east bay shoreline, which is not tend to be in this heat advisory. but there you see it. good chunk of the east bay is covered. that means a lot of the communities in the tri valley. also down to santa clara valley to covered in that with some of the valleys up north. now we do have some of those onshore winds working here this afternoon and it's going to break the back of this heat spike by tomorrow. little passage of this week front then will try to see a little bit of an upsurge by the middle of the week until it comes back down the winds currently are running are calm, but we do expect an afternoon up spurt occurring here. most readings in the 50's across the geography, although we're getting some 60's taking hold well in the east 8, these numbers above where they were this time from yesterday, fairfield already 7 degrees above. so the breakdown today puts us near 100. it looks like by mid

afternoon for a lot of the well inland spots in the east bay. again, some minor relief by tomorrow. we'll take a look at the forecast for you stephanie. dave, thank you. >> we have not heard from or seen oakland mayor sheng thao since the fbi raided her home. but her lawyer says she is prepared to cooperate with authorities. kron four's charles clifford reports. >> well, oakland mayor sheng thao has not spoken publicly since federal agents entered her home on thursday morning. but her attorney said on friday that she's willing to cooperate with any investigation and that she has no plans to resign as mayor. they have not informed us that she's the target of anything. attorney tony brass who represents oakland, mayor sheng thao said on friday that so far no one from the fbi, the postal service or the irs. >> has spoken to the mayor about why they searched her home on thursday morning. he says he has no reason to believe the mayor has done anything wrong and that she is ready to answer any questions they might have. there's no indictment.

>> there's no arrest warrant for her. so that is that's what's not happened. well, there is a search warrant for a location. >> the fbi has not revealed any specific details about the search. only saying in a statement that the fbi is conducting court authorized law enforcement activity on maiden lane. we are unable to provide additional information at this time. but sources have told kron 4 that the search may be related to a federal investigation into alleged campaign finance violations. bres says he has no reason to believe the mayor has violated any such rules. i know of no reason. i know of no protocols that were not followed that call her ethics into question. mayor thao has not spoken or appeared publicly since thursday morning. brass says that's because she is trying to stay focused and doing her job. she has press in front of her home, which is incredibly distracting. and she has a very high pressure job. he also says that despite some calling on the mayor to step down, she has no intention of doing so. she seems determined

to continue to be oakland's mayor and there's no reason why she shouldn't at this point. he also hopes that the public will let the legal process play out before passing judgment. i think that her political opponents we're going to, of course, exploit this. but as far as this investigation is concerned, just wait and now bres said that he thinks the mayor will probably speak publicly about this at some point next week. but for now in marin, charles clifford kron, 4 news. >> well, this week, the fbi also raided the offices of california waste solutions. a company known to have a history of legal troubles. the city of oakland sued the company back in 2017, accusing them of overcharging for services. both sides later settled the case and the company agreed to refund some customers and amounts raging up to several $1000 and stay with kron 4 on air and online. as we learn more about this developing news, you can download the kron 4 app to get push alerts sent to your mobile device when the news breaks, you can also find the latest developments on our

investigating after a person riding their bike was hit and killed. it happened early friday morning in a residential neighborhood at 1, o 5th avenue in june court. witnesses tell officers a speeding silver saturn sedan hit the victim. they say the driver got out of the car, removed the victims by from under the car and then left the area. people living in the area say speeding has been an issue here and they've notice speedbumps missing. francisco police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and a warning. this video you're about to see may be graphic for some. police say this happened around 7 last night in the area of a sand mission in the south of market neighborhood. the video from citizen app shows paramedics helping the victim who later died at the hospital. police say they detained a possible suspect. they have not released additional details. the soma shooting happened right around the corner from another shooting earlier friday that injured one person citizen app. video shows

out of hospital cardiac arrest every year. >> and 70% of those happened in some ways very own home. wow, ok? so really important that we learned this. so walk us through how this is going to work. we have a friend. yes, little annie. little and okay. so how is this going to work with little and yes. so when somebody experiences a cardiac arrest, chances of surviving that episode is >> of not surviving up about 60 to 70%. when you start immediate hands with cpr, you increase the chances of survival by 2 to 3 times. >> which is remarkable. so if you find somebody that is actually at home or on the street, i've done cpr is a cardiologist, both in the hospital in the community and even on an airplane. the first thing you want to do is assess to see how are they doing? are you breathing? are you alert? and if they are not, the very first thing to do is actually call for help particular. if you're out in the community call have somebody call for and then you know that the

first responders are on their way then what you want to do is assess see if there's a pulse. if there's not, then what you want to do is start cpr. typically are patients going to be on the ground that we have this nice table set up here. you want to take your dominant him. so for me, that is my right hand. you want to pit right here in the center of the chest interlace. your second hand right on top here. and then you compressions. it's as easy as that 100 to 120 beats per minute about 2 inches deep. and you want to go fast and hard and i'm just going to show you how to do that here in have you tried? you ok, don't look something like this. >> and so you have to go harder than you actually state. yes, absolutely. and if you can see, most of the motion is actually from my body. i'm keeping my arm straight. as you can see, i don't have a stopwatch on me, right? a right. the way that they actually keep time as i keep a running song real in my head and dependin what generation you are going to give you acouple are so so they're staying alive. you says i want to dance with somebody from whitney houston

skill that anybody can do. don't be intimidated. were ne right no to be able to ou secure. okay. fanstng to go lik yes, and then hand ov like and we've got wita >> what youan sure you have leverage arms are straight using a body to actually push and at least 2 inches down. going to be more force than you wou imagine. no, you're going to get higher doing this. and what we even do here in the hospital, actually, as we take turns. so you take do what you do it for a couple minutes as you're getting tired. the next person should be ready to come over and take take take it up and help. and so it is a team sport and hopefully by then the first responders, the 9-1-1 individual that you called have come to help. yes and no. what if someone is dealing with say like a baby or toddler, does the situation changes when it comes to cpr? yes, so. >> with toddlers and children, we typically a ration of 30 to 2.30, compressions for to

breath. >> and the reason why we still have the press for young children. it's typically in those situations there can be some type of airway obstruction are airway so with children, we also recommend just doing a quick sweep to make sure that there's nothing obstructing, particularly with choking in that type of thing for younger kids very good advice there. now, you're also with the american heart association has now what u.s. to just in terms of general hardin, carty let you know how say health wellness for the summer months. >> what are things that people should be aware of? yes, so i sit on the board of director for the american heart association. we're now 100 years on of the 100 years. birthdays and gray. are you saying and least we spend. >> hours and hours with the scientific experts all around the nation actually looking at trying to educate our community about heart awareness. heart health affects everybody. and i tell everybody know your numbers. so as a cardiologist, it's not about just living many, many years. it's living about

healthy years. so i tell people make sure, you know your blood pressure, make sure you know diabetes numbers. if you are diabetic, make sure you know your weights every day and for everybody to live active healthy lives. i recommend at least 50 to 70 minutes of active exercise. you do need to be a gym rat that can just be going out taking a walk or hike around the yard or doing some gardening with the kiddos that will actually significant decrease your chances of having some type of morbidity or my county with cardiac events. ok, alright, mom and veggies? anything that you can cook at your home. and i'm a terrible cook. all say and yet you can get creative and could be a fun community activity. wonderful. and you know, what are some signs that people should be checking in with their doctor with regards to their health heart health as well? yeah. so i always tell people to know your so something feels different. you want to get checked out. i always recommend a once a year at least minimum physical examination and in particular,

coast. and that's a contrast to a few degrees warmer than we were from this time yesterday. breakdown today puts us well in the business of the upper 90's for much of this afternoon. again, will top off at 100 or so for a couple selective spots. again, some relief coming our way tomorrow. we'll get more into that coming up. plus your 4 zone forecast. stefanie. >> dave, thanks. health officials in san francisco say they are seeing a decrease in overdose deaths. kron four's rob nesbitt takes a look at the program. the city says is saving lives. >> doctors with the department of health in san francisco talk today about buprenorphine micro, dosing which they consider to be an innovative way to treat fentanyl addiction. san francisco's night navigator program has been in the works since march every night from 08:00pm to midnight in the tenderloin health experts connect people struggling with addiction treatment. we conducted approximately 440 in the field. nighttime telehealth visits, director of behavioral health and mental health and san francisco. doctor hilary cummins says micro dosing buprenorphine has been one of

the most successful forms of treatment of people. north iin is one of the 2 most highly effective medications. and reduces the risk of overdose deaths by approximately 50%. the other medication as methadone. but there are strict regulations on who can prescribe that medication. doctor joanna eveland is the chief medical officer for people experiencing homelessness and for people who use drugs. she says that buprenorphine helps decrease the withdrawal symptoms that someone struggling with addiction experiences when they stop using harmful drugs. we know the printing is a highly effective medication for controlling cravings. >> my patients who are taking different if you report that they feel normal and stable, they can go back to work. they can take care of their families. the night navigator program does not just work to provide drug treatment in the tenderloin doctor even is oftentimes on the other end of the phone during telehealth calls me late at night. >> working to remove the barriers that someone struggling with addiction might face. they need an id if they need. >> help getting their

so far no one from the fbi, the postal service or the irs. >> has spoken to the mayor about why they searched her home on thursday morning. he says he has no reason to believe the mayor has done anything wrong and that she is ready to answer any questions they might have. there's no indictment. >> there's no arrest warrant for her. so that is that's what's not happened. well, there is a search warrant for a location. >> the fbi has not revealed any specific details about the search. only saying in a statement that the fbi is conducting court authorized law enforcement activity on maiden lane. we are unable to provide additional information at this time. but sources have told kron 4 that the search may be related to a federal investigation into alleged campaign finance violations. bres says he has no reason to believe the mayor has violated any such rules. i know of no reason. i know of no protocols that were not followed that call her ethics into question. mayor thao has not spoken or appeared publicly since thursday morning. brass says that's because she is trying

to stay focused and doing her job. she has press in front of her home, which is incredibly distracting. and she has a very high pressure job. he also says that despite some calling on the mayor to step down, she has no intention of doing so. she seems determined to continue to be oakland's mayor and there's no reason why she shouldn't at this point. he also hopes that the public will let the legal process play out before passing judgment. i think that her political opponents we're going to, of course, exploit this. but as far as this investigation is concerned, just wait and now bres said that he thinks the mayor will probably speak publicly about this at some point next week. but for now in marin, charles clifford kron, 4 news. >> this week, the fbi also raided the offices of california waste solutions. a company known to have a history of legal troubles, the company rather the city of oakland sued the company back in 2017, accusing them of overcharging for services. both sides later settled. the case in the company agreed to

serving a fresh alaskan halibut lately. and we had the kind of a second cash on the bottom. and now the coroner's really plentiful and, you know, wonderful season. we've been grilling the core and said, let's make a beautiful summer salad out of it. so weve got grilled corn, black beans, tomatoes, red peppers, red onions. and then we made a kumon vinaigrette. so as a little bit of southwest flair to and some tortilla chips in there to give it a little crunch time, which are shrimp and put it over the top. and then chef made a little avocado ranch dressing. he took the avocado puree in the blender. so if you give a little drizzle on top, however, you want to do, much get around make a little previous on expanding into my art. side is you need little micro cilantro and microgreens address it up a little got a wonderful little backyard. summer salad right there. oh, that's lovely. and that will

just about all day today. coming back, we're going to check in that 4 zone forecast and the extended to 70. dave, thank you. >> health officials in san francisco say they are seeing a decrease in overdose deaths. hope was rob nesbitt takes a look at the program. the city says is saving lives. >> doctors with the department of health in san francisco talk today about buprenorphine micro, dosing which they consider to be an innovative way to treat fentanyl addiction. san francisco's night navigator program has been in the works since march every night from 08:00pm to midnight in the tenderloin health experts connect people struggling with addiction treatment. we conducted approximately 440 in the field. nighttime telehealth visits, director of behavioral health mental health in san francisco. doctor hilary cummins says micro dosing buprenorphine has been one of the most successful forms of treatment of people. north iin is one of the 2 most highly effective medications. and reduces the risk of overdose

deaths by approximately 50%. the other medication as methadone. but there are strict regulations on who can prescribe that medication. doctor joanna eveland is the chief medical officer for people experiencing homelessness and for people who use drugs. she says that buprenorphine helps decrease the withdrawal symptoms that someone struggling with addiction experiences when they stop using harmful drugs. we know the printing is a highly effective medication for controlling cravings. >> my patients who are taking different if you teport that they feel normal and stable, they can go back to work. they can take care of their families. the night navigator program does not just work to provide drug treatment in tenderloin. doctor eveland is oftentimes on the other end of the phone during telehealth calls me late at night. >> working to remove the barriers that someone struggling with addiction might face. they need an id if they need. >> help getting their insurance updated if they need transportation to the pharmacy as well as offering hotel rooms or access to a shelter bed for someone experiencing homelessness at the same time as an addiction to fentanyl.
