to 70's right now. brent, what you're getting close to 80 pittsburgh, 72 while dublin berkeley, oakland, in the low to mid 60's for your current temps later today, daytime highs will be in the 70's to 80's. nobody in the 90's just yet. that's all coming our way for the rest of the forecast, which only gets hotter and hotter. i've got those numbers ahead. back to dark. >> thanks a lot, john. the breaking news is the oakland firefighter who died san diego. we we just found out his identity. he drowned in san diego while on vacation. the oakland fire department is telling us it's 25 year-old kaden laffin and the department was notified. they have told his family as well about this. and his mother is in san diego today. our sister station in san diego has provided us with the video here and some details about what we do know. we know that the body was pulled from the water about 02:00am today and

this happened near crystal pier in pacific beach. laugh and graduated from the oakland recruit academy class in 2019. the fire chief damon covington says there will be more details and a celebration of life at a later time. the san diego fire department says that the oakland fire department, they have sent officials. they are there in awe san diego finding out more details. so this a developing story that we hope to learn more about sad story there in oakland. firefighter dying and the fire fight has been busy in oakland with 70 firefighters responded to this warehouse fire that broke out in oakland. this is at 24th and wood streets. >> near the the offer just as you're coming off the bay bridge from 80 the warehouse is occupied by the pacific supply company. we know that you can see a lot of heavy smoke and flames coming from the building in warehouse

fire. they were able to contain it to the no other buildings burned. other breaking news with more fires to and this is a vegetation fire that broke out. it's 100% contained now and it burned about 5 acres in angwin in napa county. this is off the freeze and drive. nobody was hurt. we haven't heard of any structures there. teenager is dead and another in critical condition in a shooting in hayward that happened yesterday about 02:00am on second street just around the corner from hayward high school, a 15 year-old boy was shot there and later died in 15 minutes after that. another victim, a 13 year-old boy wound up in the hospital. no arrests have been made for that shooting. it was also a shooting in a room here and moviegoers are now on edge in union city. apparently it was a fight that led to a man being shot in the theater yesterday morning. police are

still looking for the shooter. kron 4. sarah stinson has more. >> moviegoers, tell me it's frightening to hear that the shooting happened inside the century. theaters here at union landing. police say this is very rare. and despite their being no arrest, they do not believe there's a threat to the public. a late night movie at the century theater at union landing ended abruptly when gunshots rang out inside one of the theaters. union city police say they got the call just before one in the morning. they began to evacuate the building and then clearing all the additional theaters. >> as they had located a gunman on site. so they did make sure all the theaters were clear and that the premise was safe and then they located the victim. a 19 year-old man was taken to the hospital. he's expected to be okay. investigators say they believe a dispute between 2 people escalated into a fight between 2 groups. sergeant brandon hayward says this kind of violent crime is rare in

the in union city. this is, you know, very, very few shootings that we've had this calendar year. so this is a rare event. that is a very safe compl'x. that's a place you can bring your family, have a nice meal. go see a movie in the movie theater parking lot. we spotted a car that was broken into police say they've been cracking down on car burglaries here agrees union landing are down. 52%. so they still happen. there's no way to completely prevented from happening. but the numbers are actually starting to favor us pretty greatly. the theater was opened on wednesday with moviegoers in shock about what happened here so sad to know that there's shooting that's but instead, i mean. mind-boggling. i mean, we want a safe place for everyone. come we come here for watching movies with family and children. okay. >> so this has you second guessing. you want to go see the movie right now? yes, yeah. exactly. that's what she fears exactly. will she we just talked about and police are still working to identify

the shooter. they do not believe that there's any threat to the public because they believe this is an isolated incident between 2 people. now police are asking anyone with video or information to come forward. i'm sara stinson reporting in union city kron. 4 news. >> it's 10, 0, 5, and in november you're going to able to vote on a 20 billion dollar proposal aimed to bring more affordable housing to the bay area. and it would improve existing housing as well. here's how much money each county would get if voters approve this bond about 2.4 billion would go to san francisco. same amount for santa clara county. as you can see here, san mateo county getting 2.1 and alameda county getting 2 billion. contra costa county. 1.9 and the rest of the bay area cities. as you can see here, all getting under 699,000 going down the list there. napa county gets 118 million and this would fund affordable housing, construction and preservation

projects. san francisco is getting ready for the annual pride celebrations this weekend and street closures in downtown start today. kron 4 s michael thomas is live in the castro with what we need to do. hi, michael. >> hi, good morning. everyone will daria, as you know, you've experienced a lot of these pride events. thousands are set to come into san francisco and here in the castro, they're preparing and also a lot of muni drivers are preparing. take a listen. take a look. this is a map of where the parade will take place sunday with surrounding streets set to be closed starting today. this includes grocery between polk and larkin near the civic center plaza and tomorrow. other nearby streets will also be closed until monday. many of us will also be affected for both routes. 1921 to avoid those road closures. drivers from unity say they're ready for the crowds and the fun of this is the big going to my first we can do to work right or from eating and >> yes, i expect a lot of people expect to fun for everybody and hopefully we can get service everybody in a

so that's something that your seven-day forecast, you won't be able to miss. as for today, this is the last over days that we're not seeing in the 90's and your bay area forecast. that's the coolest day of the forecast. lots of sunshine above the embarcadero right now. gorgeous way to start the morning. we did see that tropical moisture over the past few days yesterday. there were some remnants of that east to the sierra today, though the entire state is out of the woods. as far as that goes, just a little fog at the coastline this morning in a few coastal drizzle spots up in the santa cruz mountains, low pressure anchored to our north dip in the jet stream. keeping us on the cooler side for one more day today before we gradually start to see temperatures climbing starting tomorrow where we're at lots of sunshine on shore breeze for your thursday. tomorrow temps will be back in the low 90's for some inland areas. we are still going to see a fairly moderated weekend. and if you are heading to the city for pride, good news for you is even with a little bit of morning cloud cover at times morning cloud cover at times afternoons will be ful upper 60's to low 70's and castro and financial districts

on with governor newsom's plan to crack down on fentanyl. he says it's working. so let's take a look at those numbers. they say about 7 million pills containing fentanyl were seized in the beginning of the year. they first played members of the guard in 2022. to tackle the crisis in last year. the guard help sees a record 62,000 pounds of fentanyl. the governor just announced the state's going to double the amount of national guard members working on this crackdown. now, including at the southern border. starting monday, a new law goes into effect throughout california. that will impact nightclubs and bars when you go. >> out they are going to be required to have drug testing kits right there at the bar. fia tester drink kron four's leza gooden has more. starting july first. nightclubs and bars will be required to offer drug testing kits must have signs like this one that say don't get riffey drink. spiking drug test kits available here. >> and after a staff member for details, this new law will be enforced by the department of alcoholic beverage control.

community leaders in san francisco are celebrating the restoration of acupuncture benefits in the state budget. governor newsom is budget proposal. its revised now and

removed him from his home nearly 3 years men was bound and gagged, then strangled to death and left on the side of the road in the oakland hills. >> in court, one defendant pleading guilty to second degree murder and he was sentenced to 15 years to life in state prison. the second pleading guilty to first degree residential burglary and he was sentenced to 6 years in state prison. judge patten saying he feels for henson and her family adding, though, that if these cases went to a jury, they could result in hung juries or no convictions at all. >> defense attorney, steve to philip u.s. agrees. i think would have. >> ensign claims she learned none of the defendants would face firstdegree murder and kidnapping charges through a news release from da pamela price's office. i haven't

san diego democratic assembly member chris ward breaking down in tears as he recalled his own story of coming out to his parents. he spoke about it during this assembly education committee as lawmakers here took up his bill ab 1955, it would prohibit school district from enforcing and implimenting lgbtq+ notification policies. it would forbid teachers from outing children who identify as transgender and lgbtq+. to their parents unless the child gives permission. ward says that decision should be left to the student and the student alone. not. >> you and matter which they choose. parents who testified in support of the bill argue kids could suffer emotionally and consider suicide of schools out them to parents who are accepting students most impacted by force outing feel unsafe. speaking publicly because i know as a mom as somebody who has a degree in child development that. >> my child and my relationship will be stronger if i let them come to me when

do have a couple of updates. i want to note for and these are actually some good updates. the fire is not extended to vegetation are spread around. you can see there's a lot of grassy areas and that back up right there. so we don't want see it spread to the vegetation. and that's good news. there is trash in the big rig and crews are working on removing that trash from the big rig as soon as possible. right now, no injuries are reported but lanes 3, 4, and the shoulder are blocked. and that's what's resulting in this massive backup that just continues to grow. the big rig is continuing to smoke unburned as you can see. so those pictures are still pretty accurate to the current situation that's going on out there right now. let's get a look at the traffic map and you can actually see how far this backup is extended. now. western contra costa county. the fire itself is right here before you drop into crockett and eventually make your way over the carquinez bridge on up towards vallejo. that backup now extends well back all the way to the intersection of highway 4 right there. so really the

best thing to do it's to get off 80 highway 4, make your way over towards martinez and then eventually cross the martini. the benicia bridge. that's going to get shot up into solano county, avoiding all of this right here because it does look as of right now that there's likely going to be multiple lane closures for a while and especially as we make our way eventually into the afternoon. this could result in some issues here. this is not even a busy commute time. and you can see it is virtually a standstill right there. so avoid 80 at all costs again, get off highway 4. make your way on over to martinez. benicia bridge is your way to go. do not even worry about taking the carquinez bridge right now. it is going to take you a lot longer than you would ever have liked to do. now, as far as the forecast goes, a whole different story. never think cooperating out there and weather. let's get a look at our maps outside and lots of sunshine this morning. today is going to be the coolest day of the rest of the forecast. we did see all that thunderstorm activity moving out yesterday today. much like
