with more details. well. >> the study says, well, the various programs that the city does, but they don't coordinate with each other. so therefore, it's not effective or as the fish and as it should be. san jose, just like the rest of the state, just like the rest of the country dealing with homelessness. but in this particular case, according to the study, comes in 4th overall among 25 cities that they looked at in the united states. san jose. they are trying their very best is a very complex problem. but right now take a look at your screen. this is what they are dealing with. according to the study in san jose. if you're looking for a 2 bedroom apartment, it will cost you $3,000 a month average. that means if you make minimum wage in san jose, which is $17.55, that would take your entire paycheck just to pay rent much less. all the other things that you need, of course, including food and gas. that

will just take up all of your check in the city of san jose for every 100,000 residents, 363 of them are unhoused last year about 4300 new people became unhoused and that's a 24% increase from just 2 years ago. and we talked about city agencies and programs not coordinating with each other. that is the problem. according to the study they would like for them to cordon 8 with each other. more at the very least to get on the same page, including things like sweeping homeless encampments. they say whenever they do that, it doesn't solve the problem because housing is so out of control that cannot move into housing. instead, you sweep the homeless encampments and then they'll just come back a little bit later to the same location. it's a scathing study, guys. and it puts san jose in a bad light just in

case you're wondering the number one city in the country as far as homelessness is eugene, oregon, with a population of 177,000 people followed by new york city and los angeles. and then san jose backed so eugene has the most number of homeless. people >> yes, per capita 177,000 people live in per capita. they have the most homelessness for per capita in the country. according to this study. >> all right. thanks a lot. today, the oakland city council, there are special meeting to vote on them that your budget. >> this comes after the city of oakland administration submitted a budget proposal that includes 60 million in cuts. oakland faces a deficit of 177 million dollars. the city hopes that the cell of the coliseum will eliminate some of those cuts. the repair for the alternative. if the sale is not completed by september, 30th meeting is scheduled for one 30 today.

>> 604 is the time. faye, we go back to the investigation of a local waste company for a campaign money laundering situation and this has all been part of the fbi probe of mayor sheng thao in oakland yet on about cow waste. there. so what we do know so far is that after mayor sheng tells home was raided about 2 weeks ago. >> both the mayor and the company officials claim that they're innocent. kron four's. dan kerman has the very latest. when the fbi raided oakland mayor sheng thao is home last week. that was just one of 4 locations. the other 3 included callaway solutions which provides recycling services for the city of oakland. also the homes of 2 members of the family which owns and manages that company. it turns out callaway solutions has been under investigation since 2019 for suspected campaign money laundering. >> court documents obtained from oakland's public ethics commission alleges the laundering scheme spanned several election cycles and

involves the use of multiple straw donors making contributions to several candidates controlled committees. political analysts say straw donors are often used when an individual or entity seeks to contribute more money to a candidate than legally allowed essentially fines. >> friends, relatives, family members who will write individual checks in their own name. and sent it in. but to be reimbursed. court documents suggest mayor thao is just one of several oakland politicians. >> to receive these contributions from the straw donors, many of whom the ethics commission alleges didn't have the funds to make these donations until a large cash deposit was made just before after writing the check. if you have someone who's going to trouble and job as lot of money >> being. >> funneled through different 3rd parties to a single candidate. there are ballot measure. what have you? you can make a pretty good assumption. that person is

trying to get access and influence. >> or >> but its way decision and in their favor, i have done nothing wrong. >> days after the fbi raid, mayor thao maintained her innocence. spokesman for callaway solutions also inpicated the company has done nothing wrong. well, several parties of the same. it's unknown if the fbi is investigating the same thing as oakland's public ethics commission. but it's so political. analysts say the fbi's involvement kicks this to a new level to one thing. if the campaign finance violation. >> but where the fbi comes involved that more than just a campaign finance violation. there is some nexus to 2 public integrity of public corruption that they're trying. they're trying to the court doesn't mean that it exists doesn't mean that it's there, but the but they're clearly looking for. dan kerman kron. 4 news. >> it's 607, american canyon.

high school's principal is charged with failing to report an alleged child molestation incident that happened earlier this year in april. the p e teacher named brad role was arrested and accused of sexually abusing a student the nap. but district attorney's office says the principal andrew golf was notified of a suspected relationship between a student and raul. and goff now faces 6 months in prison as well as $1000. fine. the alleged abuser is currently being held $100,000 bail. he faces 3 felony counts. >> time now 608. and in the east bay, a terrifying ordeal for a mother and her children. they were carjacked in a quiet alameda neighborhood the suspects have been arrested after crashing the suv that they took kron four's. gayle ong has the latest. >> is citizen video of san francisco police in pursuit of a stolen suv in the area ran in and the barca darrow wednesday afternoon. moments later, a female suspect is

taken into custody. but the incident started an hour earlier in the 2800 block of central avenue in alameda where police say a woman and her family were carjacked anytime someone is robbed at gunpoint with their children in the car. >> the effects are not just from that one incident. the effects are going to last a long time. police say the suspects drove through oakland and then san francisco where they were met with police. that is horrible. maria gutierrez lives on central avenue and says she is not surprised to hear about the carjacking. she recalled a recent incident involving a delivery driver to let the ron and >> someone was probably following her. she was knocking at the door and someone stole her car >> echoes this reed and car was stolen. maybe 4, 5 months ago. police say there are a total of 3 suspects were held in the santa rita jail facing charges that include carjacking child abuse and use of a firearm. meantime, police

pressure builds back in gradually, though. so this forecast is one that is gradually going to be warming up. you'll see the first signs of that in the form of some even 90's making their return today. well, the bayshore in the coast not feeling a whole lot different tomorrow is going to be similar sunday, getting a little hotter. and then next week is when the he truly truly builds in. here's your extended outlook and your first week in july next weekend, we are starting july with above average temperatures all across the bay area. so get ready for that heat to build in. we do have excessive heat watches taking effect all across the central valley. starting on monday through thursday. that includes portions of solano county. it will be feel that heat right here at home. as for what we have today, if you're heading into san francisco for pride, do anticipate some 60's for most of your daytime highs. some neighborhoods like downtown in the mission district, though, like a right around dolores park should be tapping into some low 70's. so this is going to be a comfortable bright afternoon and the weekend actually gets a little warmer with tomorrow and

sunday looking particularly nice and the city. as i mentioned, we do have some of those low 70's towards the bay 60's towards the coastline, 50's and 60's right along the coast of the peninsula. 70's to 80's elsewhere and the return of a few low 90's. in today's forecast for areas like los gatos, right at 90 degrees today, east bay temperatures, 70's 80's to low 90's for you to livermore at 91. same in concord while oakland. at 75 for your daytime high hot spot today being vacaville at 94 degrees. let's look ahead to tomorrow's temperatures will be a bit warmer sunday for the pride parade. the warmest of the weekend makes for a nice day in the city next week. just downright scorching hot with triple digits inland. this is going to result in excess of fire danger leading into the 4th of july next thursday. so considering the high fire danger is definitely paramount for us. as we plan out the weekend and your holiday week next week. all right, john, thanks for them move in. a

to put it mildly that president biden seem to be overwhelmed at times. kron four's catherine heenan has some reaction from political analysts. >> whether you like and support president biden or you do not. it was downright uncomfortable at times to watch his performance. that included a couple of our political agree the president in the end did himself no favors and say democrats will now be really struggling to deal with this. >> i not go to depose biden from the top of the ticket. it's not going to happen this. this is small d democratic process within the party that shows him. so that's not going to happen. but there's going to be a lot of time and energy spent worrying about this decision. handwringing bed-wetting. pick pick. your metaphor. and it's not going to lead to any but it is going to be something that the white house is going to have to manage and it's going to be a problem was a president who does seem to be fading. and i think we're going i think

we're going to come. we're going to see that age issue. even among democrats revived. and i think a lot of democrats are going to wish the biden would perhaps even before the convention step back and say, look. >> you know, here, the handful of candidates, i would advise you nominate if you guys can come to a consensus fairly quickly within the party. almost impossible to do. but i will step out and endorse candidate. i think it's very unlikely. but i do think you're going to hear democrats actually calling for that coming days. you know, biden is in a bind because he can't step away without anointing. kamala harris and the democrats perceive that she cannot win. so that i mean, they're all sort of bounds together. >> not as though by the way, they're warning any medals to donald trump. both of them labeled and many of the claims that he made is and as untrue. they say trump did not answer many questions directly, but at least in these first hours after the debate, what most democrats and republicans seem

animal activists plan to rally outside of safeway in oakland today demanding that the store stop selling poultry from a petaluma farm. that is facing allegations of animal cruelty and investigation found sick animals unable to reach food and water in their facility. protesters plan to enter the store with signs and then they will gather in the parking lot, continuing to try to put the pressure on safeway. the protest is planned for 06:30pm, tonight at the college avenue. safeway. community activist group greene action is filing a lawsuit today against the navy and you say paw this is in response to hunters point residents saying that radioactive point shipyard is hurting them. the navy has failed to completely clean up the toxic waste activists say because the rising sea levels in groundwater, there's going to cause the spread of contamination into their neighborhood and into the bay. the group says it's looking for the environmental justice they want not any money out of this. they say the successful lawsuit will help protect

department is mourning the loss of one of their own. yeah. department says 25 year-old. >> kaden laugh and was attending a firefighter summer games in san diego when he went out for a swim with his friend, ended up drowning kron four's terisa stasio has the details. some tragic news. >> as you may know last night, actually. we lost one of our firefighters, cayden laugh and 5 year member of the open fire can fire chief damon covington delivering the said news thursday. by all reports he dow being down in san diego. for the firefighter summer olympics. 25 year-old kaden laugh and well known in the department. his father also served with the oakland fire department and the brother hoping to do the same. this is a picture of kate and on the right. >> his younger brother on the left, another brother in the middle, their dad's uniform between them. they deeply embedded in open fire department. >> kayden's father sean lap was decorated assistant fire

the police were responding after that shooting the gunman shot 2 people killing one man and sending another victim to the hospital. that person was arrested, expected to be brought back to california to face charges >> the violence it is happening, i think is an illness and nuts. needs to be cured. what the cure is. i don't know. ultimately, i think it's >> neighbors in hayward are reacting to a shooting that left a teenage boy dead and another in critical condition. this happened about 2 in the morning on wednesday at a home on second street near hayward high. it's unclear what led up to the shooting. but police say that it did start inside the house and then went outside the house. a 15 year-old ended up dying and this second victim, a 13 year-odd went to the hospital with injuries. >> they just encourage parents to speak with their children.
