>>their stocks surge higher today after the first of 2 inflation measures this week showed more progress is being made on bringing down consumer prices. today, it was the producer price index, which is a measure of inflation at the wholesale level. it showed that indeed inflation is coming down tomorrow we get the consumer price index, which shows inflation at the retail level. and that, too, is expected to show progress being made. and if indeed, both measures come in as expected, that all but locks in an interest rate cut next month, the only guessing game on wall street right now. will it be a half-point cut or a quarter point cut? i suspect the fed wants to be emphatic in saying that, yes, we made progress on inflation and we are going to avoid a recession among individual stocks. starbucks up 24% today after the company sacked its ceo and brought in a new leader. and that would be the former ceo of chipotle. we'll see if all that experience. a three-dose translates to frappuccinos. meanwhile, rough day at

have noticed the temperatures have been down a bit today. we warmed up a few degrees, but overall cooler than what we've seen. in fact, of course, we're talking triple digits most of july in some spots inland. but those have gone away. now on the fact a lot of places, much more comfortable hovering in the 80's out there right now. mostly clear skies. and that's why it's going to stay high. pressure builds in little bit today. tomorrow starts we can. you start to see a little trough begin the card itself out. that's going to cool down the temperatures just ever so slightly. and then as we get into friday, look at that rule and down the coastline a pretty decent trough. some of the expect to see in the fall, right rolling on down. that's gonna drop the temperatures as we head in toward the weekend. and that's going to continue. i think in the next week a kind of see the pattern. kind of situations that trough just kind of hovers right through the wednesday of next week's a long-range pattern. now is still looking fairly cool, at least below average as we head through next week. and that's not a bad thing. that means we're going to see more of that onshore wind likely see a little more fog. and you can see the higher humidity. so that is really gonna help
1:23 am
firefighters around the state fighting some of these major fires outside. right now, though, we are fog free in right now. the golden gate bridge looking good out there right now. temperature wise, you still got some mild number. 67 degrees in san jose is still 78 very warm umbrella 73 and conquered 70 in fairfield. 72 in vacaville and a much cooler 61 degrees in the san francisco overall, though, we're going to see a change. we got some fog just lingering off the coastline that is going to reestablish itself overnight tonight and tomorrow morning. so see more of that kind of wrapping up. so by 08:00am a lot of clouds along the coastline inside the bay, the monterey bay really long haul the california coastline breaking up toward the afternoon, but maybe a little finger fog sticking inside the bay. and then more of that on the way as we head in toward thursday as well. so that's gonna knock down some of these temperatures just a bit still comfortable in san francisco, mainly in the 60's that fog that cleared out along the coastline today. yeah, it's gonna probably stick there for tomorrow. the better part of the day 50's low 60's out toward the beaches about 64 in san bruno tomorrow 71 in san carlos.
1:24 am
temperatures warming up as you head toward the south bay, a beautiful day in the santa clara valley. plenty of sunshine, just maybe a little bit hazy, but warm about 87 degrees in pleasanton. 86 in dublin size. 89 degrees in walnut creek in 86 in orinda. so really pretty comfortable temperatures outside some of these numbers a little below the average. that's kind of what we're looking to the 10 10. you can see that kind of meandering temperatures. then that trough moves in late on friday into saturday. that's going to set up a much cooler than normal weekend. may be warming up a little bit next week before cooling down the middle of next week. tuesday. >>well, it took a lot of work for the giants to lift themselves up over 500 and get back and to that wild card race. but allow the showing against the braves can erase all of that work. let's go to 3rd in king to see game 2 against atlanta. and look, it's age reunion. you've got matt olson, you got matt chapman. you got ramon lauriano. they had some special years across the bay bridge playing in oakland.

bottom of the 3rd giants down to tyler fitzgerald. well revelation. he has in the 2nd half of the season. giants get to within a run on that solo blast. bottom of the 8th now, same score runner at 3rd for matt chapman. it gets away from travis d'arnaud outweigh junior scores. we have a tie game. it will go into extras and in the 10th, the ghost runner at second for d'arnaud. he grounds it to right. casey schmitt can't make the play. and all of a sudden is 4 to 3 bottom of the frame. giants with one on and nobody out questionable call by bob melvin. he been swift. tyler fitzgerald. casey schmitt is out at 3rd, but they would call interference. casey schmitt back to second. fitzgerald is ruled out. later in the inning. elliott ramos looks like he could had some

magic, but it's just warning track power braves go on to win this one. 43, another heartbreaking loss for the giants. all right. a's in queens taking on the mets facing paul blackburn just night fines top of first no score bases loaded for seth brown. he drives this one going into the right-center gap. that's a bases clearing double for brown a's strike. first, jj bleday top of the 3rd a's up 3 runners at the corners. jailing layers to last. he takes blackburn for right to left. a three-run bomb makes it 7 to nothing bottom of the 5th mets cut the deficit to 3. looking to add here. but a's reliever. austin adams, you gotta love this. and he gets the strikeout. and then he lets the people queens know get this. the mets traded him a couple months back.

clearly he still has some. he still has some, you know, tough feelings against that 6 in by 4 to offer langley years. get this. he was 4 for 4 today will for army eyes as the a's they go on to win this one. it's 9 to 4. all right. the brandon aiyuk saga continues. i'll be honest with the all it's been hard to keep up. honestly, i haven't even really i've been tuning it out. just getting some news. but it's my job to give you guys the news every day. and here's the latest wrinkle. apparently brenda would prefer to stay in san francisco and the niners are close to getting to that number. he wants there still some hoops that both sides have to get through. but it seems like this is the closest they ban in a while. so in short, ba, staying in the bay. >>and that doesn't here for us at kron-on will be back with the morning news at 5 o'clock.
