these years? good days. bad days. but. we will always managed to work it out. couple arrived to the bay area 60 years ago and say it immediately felt like home, or e and leonard have six children. 25 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren and just like their marriage vows the good days and bad days, they always managed to work it out side by side. they're happy they have found a love that really lasts. good for them, and it's staying in yosemite national park and oakland grandfather became the oldest known person to hike half dome in yosemite in july. ktvx elissa harrington spoke with him about this major bucket list milestone. this is it. this is the moment 93 year old everette kaylin grandfather from oakland, became the oldest known hiker to summit.

yosemite's half dome. ever tackled the mountain tuesday with his son, john, and 19, year old granddaughter, sydney who documented the trip on her cellphone slowly but surely we got up near the top. and when we finally did get to the top that was just a thrill. i was a great thrill and, um i think the three of us found a rock and sat on it and crd a little spoke with us from his senior living community off piedmont avenue. he said. he trained for half tone by climbing up and down flights of stairs in his 17 story building and by walking around lake merritt. five days a week, he admits he didn't fully realized what he was getting himself into and how steep and slick parts of the hike would be was first strenuous, and i didn't realize how far forward i had to leave lean to get some momentum and balance. it was like the entire mountain was rooting for him,

highlight our local community area native was one of the last three contestants standing after the season. two finale of next level chef with gordon ramsay. congratulations goes. to tucker. zachary keogh won the title and a $250,000 prize and we spoke with jeff tucker right before that finale aired in san jose native was at a watch party in san francisco with their family and friends and she talked about the impact of her experience. that self confidence is definitely something i gained here and, um, just that, believing in myself, really, and like, that's something that i can't get taken away. tucker says her next move will probably be creating pop up dining experiences, perhaps along with fellow cast members and working as a private chef, the island of maui in hawaii. he's rebuilding after those wildfires tore through lahaina earlier this year, one of the many inspiring

stories to come out of that tragedy, including north bay, celebrity chef guy fieri, raising more than $1.5 million for the victims. the area is foundation hosted chefs river maui in october at a private estate in sonoma county. the sold out event featured in 18 course dinner created by 38 chefs. wine tasting live music in an auction chefs included those who regularly appear on fieri's food network television shows. proceeds benefited the hawaii restaurant association in the salvation army, hawaiian and pacific islands vision. it was not taken with the spirit. this community of paradise. another community rebuilding after loss the town of paradise more than 250 people gathered in a park to honor the 85 people who died in the camp fire five years ago with a moment of silence lasting 85 seconds, despite the great loss felt by so many people left

ortega says he built his food truck business using his grandmother's recipes and the hustle he learned from his mexican parents, jose luiz and alicia ortega. he says being an entrepreneur has always been in his blood. parents were the first one to present our frescas to san jose and throughout the whole bay area. so i grew up watching my parents work and, um , i used to work for them. ortega says his father wanted him to go to college. but in 2016, he started his first business selling agua frescas and fruit cups like his parents. just two years later, he used his savings to buy his first food truck. the giant con sabor biddy, a taco is his signature item. and he now has three food truck locations throughout the city. when i first started, people were telling me look at me like you're crazy like you're not. you know what you're doing? you're going to lose our money, and i just always believed in myself. i trusted the process. i've had a vision and i stick to

my vision and everything went through, ortega says this month he's catering 3000 people for united airlines in san francisco and his social media videos have over 3 million views. he's also planning to launch a video game and film both based on his food truck concept, he says foodies from all over the state are coming to san jose to experience the flavor of mexico people from all over california from fresno, but that stole from los angeles all over the bay area are coming to try it out. we talked to a customer who was there for the first time and one who keeps coming back, expecting lots of flavor. lots of meat, and i'm expecting to be very full afterwards familiar with mexican cuisine tacos barrier. um. i'd like to bury out here because it's not that greasy and it's just right, ortega says with his wife, catherine, by aside and his second child on the way, he's looking forward to the future and owning his own

the side of the jersey and then those shorts have the patterns that symbolizes the cable car tracks. the team unveiled the new uniform as a cable car turnaround at fisherman's worf, the warriors say the uniform captures the essence of san francisco. as much as we love our warriors. we also love our local teams and the impact that they have made. this year we saw oakland's castle went high school football team returned from historic trip from southern california in september, the castle at night to beat the los angeles dorsey high school dawns and were among the first to tour the high school football hall of fame at the roseville, one of the nights football players had her football helmet brought in as part of the permanent display . this is 16 year old danielle johnson. she became the first female football player. casamance she says she has loved the games and she was eight years old. and it just 5 ft. 10 inches tall. she said she was determined to play. castle mount football coach edward washington said daniel johnson is the heart of the team because she's tough and plays with all her heart.

another team in oakland celebrated a big win by going all the way to state. the city then held one big victory parade to honor to championship high school basketball teams. the city of champions celebrated and honored. oakland highs boys basketball team in northern california and the oakland tech girls basketball team on their c i f state championships, claiming their third title in five five years, fans filled the streets of downtown oakland to honor the oakland tech girls, varsity basketball teams and oakland high boys varsity teams. this was back in april. both teams are celebrating state championships at the time they were beyond thrilled to be honored in their city. maybe luck or really just dedication to the excellence. it's the best girls basketball program in the state representing the town that is now left its mark on history. months ago, before we were even thinking about playoffs before. really our team was even set. he was telling us. you know, there's something special here you have the opportunity to do something great. and it would be a shame if you didn't do it. so

welcome back to what's the good news? very special birthday celebration was held this year. danville veteran sam avila cheeto is given the key to the city on his 103rd birthday. he has been married to his wife for 70 years and says they are proud to call the east space city of danville home. i just love this
