evening and about his love. also amber for the team. >> mike, the producer, has worked his music magic for many legendary recording artists and hopes that this new song will lead to a super bowl win for the 40 niners. he takes us behind the scenes to show us how he came up with the 2024 version. in we will rock you till we win the fight. >> say we're the 40 niners. >> narada michael walden, a three time grammy award winning producer, was dynamite and a 49ers faithful composes a new anthem for his beloved team at his recording studio in san rafael. >> he tells me the nfc championship game against the detroit lions inspired him to give the niners a musical boost. >> then we miraculously, we won that game. i said, okay, let me see what i can do to help give energy for the super bowl. this song is a new spin on his first anthem, where the 40 niners, which he wrote in 1984 before the team went on to win super

from three in the afternoon to ten at night leading up to the showdown between the chiefs and niners on sunday. and we do have coverage from las vegas throughout the super bowl week. joe fonzi cristina rendon will be showing us all of the action ahead of the big game on sunday. on friday, we do have a fox two's sports special quest for six. that is at 930 in the morning. then on super bowl sunday at nine in the morning, we have the quest for six live in las vegas. and at noon just before kickoff, we have the quest for six. countdown to kickoff. >> new at 11 tonight, the oakland city council has approved the sale of the former raiders training facility in alameda. a san francisco real estate company is now purchasing the property for $24 million. the 17 acre site includes offices along with locker and weight rooms. the oakland roots and soul soccer clubs have been using it as their practice facility since the raiders left, the chronicle reports. the new owners will be required to lease it back to the soccer teams for continued use. alameda county, which co-owns the property with the city of oakland, will also

have to approve the sale tonight. >> a cruise ship left san francisco after being delayed several hours due to a mysterious illness spreading among passengers, as well as the crew. >> yeah, the cdc says more than 150 passengers and crew aboard the queen victoria became ill and as ktvu joy hoda tells us, that ship is now on its way to hawaii. despite the problems getting off of the center station, the queen victoria cruise ship seen docked in san francisco on wednesday, is touted as an extraordinary way to see the world, and the staff are absolutely amazing. >> but it wasn't exactly smooth sailing for all passengers on the weeks long international voyage. originating from germany on january 9th, passengers caught wind of trouble on day 13 after leaving florida. >> yes, we left port canaveral and then it was announced that people were getting ill and that they had to take the extra precautions, cunard cruise line, the company that operates the ship, tells ktvu a small number

of guests had reported symptoms of gastro intestinal illness, according to the centers for disease control and prevention. >> out of the more than 1800 passengers, 128 got sick along with 25 of the more than 900 crew. >> it's not a massive amount, but obviously it's still too many. we took, um, took it seriously. >> the cdc says the crew isolated those who fell ill and activated enhanced cleaning and disinfecting of the ship, along with safety protocols. >> you can't press any buttons yourself. the everything that's touched has to be touched by a crew member is wearing rubber gloves. the buffet area was manned by the staff so that the passengers didn't actually handle the serving utensils or anything to do with the food. >> the cdc says the main symptoms are diarrhea and vomiting. >> we heard about people that were sick. yeah, 24 hour thing, 12 hour thing. but that was it. >> the cause of the illness is

unknown. >> there was people that had it and not not that it affected the ship at all. >> with all aboard the queen victoria would set sail from san francisco just before 8:00 wednesday night. now, as far as how many may still be sick right now, the cdc did not provide a list of active cases in san francisco. joey jordan, ktvu, fox two news new at 11 tonight, an inmate is back in custody in san mateo county after he was accidentally released this morning. >> 43 year old eriberto avila was being held at the mcguire correctional facility in redwood city. once the error was discovered, deputies located the convicted felon in mountain view. he is now at the santa clara county jail, the sheriff's sheriff's office said it will review what happened to determine what went wrong. plenty of concern tonight as a landline provider says it still wants to cut off service, despite recent pushback. >> living up here.

declaration for san diego county and the story beginning tonight's west coast wrap tonight. >> authorities suspect the recent storms have caused another death in san diego county. a man's body has been recovered from a creek. it is the same creek where two other bodies were found after severe flash flooding last month. and just yesterday, search teams found a person dead in the tijuana river channel. >> now to colorado, where work is already underway to test voting equipment ahead of election day. crews are checking ballot computers for seals. they're also ensuring scanners are starting tabulations at zero. the entire process is open to the public. colorado is among more than a dozen so-called super tuesday states to set hold, set to hold primaries on march 5th. other west coast super tuesday states include alaska, california and utah. >> and in las vegas, a professional climber was arrested today after scaling the

announced plans to lay off 230 employees as the company says it will support the employees it lays off with severance packages , including at least three months of pay and options for health insurance. the company says this restructure is based on their mission of bringing responsible ai writing to the workplace and to individual customers. in a statement, ceo rahul roy chowdhury said this is not a cost cutting move, but the company's focus on ai means we will need a different mix of capabilities and skill sets. we also need to redesign our organization. to improve the quality and speed of collaboration, and that means, among other things, restructuring roles and co-locating certain teams. >> there is more fallout from a proposal from at&t to terminate landline service in most of california, including much of the bay area ktvu south bay reporter jesse gary spoke with some people in the santa cruz mountains who say they cannot live without it dangling above remote roadways.

>> a series of phone lines is a literal communications lifeline for some santa cruz mountain communities. >> the landline will work when other phones don't work at all. a bad idea to get rid of landlines for sure. >> phone provider at&t currently holding public hearings on its 2022 request to the state to end hard line phone service for almost all of california executives, arguing that forcing the one time monopoly to maintain so-called carrier of last resort status puts it at a competitive disadvantage for isolated communities. out of reach of cell towers, landlines, which come directly into a home or business, are the only way to stay connected. >> this is a real problem for our folks living in the mountain community that really rely on that landline in case of an emergency. >> part of assemblywoman gail pellerin's district includes areas in the santa cruz mountains within the week, the area has been inundated with rain, downed trees, power outages and loss of cell phone service. living up here, as you

growing up, my parents wanted me to become a doctor or an engineer. those are good careers! but i chose a different path. first, as mayor and then in the legislature. i enshrined abortion rights in our california constitution. in the face of trump, i strengthened hate crime laws and lowered the costs for the middle class. now i'm running to bring the fight to congress. you were always stubborn. and on that note, i'm evan low, and i approve this message. a new plan focused on preventing and addressing homelessness there in the city. the document was approved by the council last night. final goals entail a more mobile resource center, rapid rehousing and building centralized tiny homes. the city has an estimated $5.4 million to spend its money generated from a 2020 sales tax measure, and the

federal american rescue plan act. the city says it's also seeking a $4.7 million grant, which is expected to be announced this spring. >> state attorney general rob bonta is issuing guidance to protect california renters. bonta was in san francisco today where he issued five consumer alerts advising tenants of their rights and protections under state law. he also alerted property managers and landlords of their obligations to their tenants. bonta says those rights and obligations are extended to all californians regardless of immigration or employment status , race or gender identity. >> we know that some landlords perpetuate discriminatory housing restrictions based on protected characteristics like race, like sexual orientation or source of income, and that is not acceptable. that cannot be our new normal. and in california, we're not going to allow it according to the state budget and policy center, nearly 17 million californians live in rented houses and apartments. >> that's 44% of all state

residents. >> all right. it looks chilly out there tonight. behind me, the live camera shows temperatures, doesn't show temperatures, but it shows the lights. but the temperatures near those lights are in the 50s. low 50s. and in the inland bay valleys in the upper 30s, low 40s. so it's going to be a cold one tonight. frost advisory in effect for the north bay valleys. we've got some showers south of here. as you might expect. and then everything else something off of princeton here. out by, um, off by pillar point and then some scattered showers down towards santa cruz mountains, down towards, uh, santa lucia range, down towards big sur. but overall, most of the activity is down here in oceanside and temecula. they've just been i mean, southern california, i can't really remember a time where they had, well, they're setting records. i mean, i really can't remember a time where they had such aggressive rainfall over such a long period. so the temperatures right now on the cool side, most certainly that gets you that frost advisory that stays in

effect till tomorrow morning, probably see one again friday morning i would suspect a frost advisory. it might be more extended. the overnight lows not unusual. cool. for this time of year, but unusually cool for the weather we've been having because we've had some pretty warm and mild days and nights with this el nino pattern. so down into freezing is going to feel like freezing in santa rosa . the forecast model for tomorrow morning, tomorrow afternoon you saw that some blue go through just for like about 2 to 3:00 in the afternoon. that's a slight chance of a sprinkle or a shower or some wraparound moisture. and then there's friday morning and there's friday afternoon, and then there's saturday morning and there's saturday afternoon. so it's going to be nice. weekend looks good. the next shot for real rain shows up on on towards the middle end of next week. and it has the earmarks of a pretty aggressive system. so we'll get you know that far out. you never know what. but yeah a pre indications are yeah we're going to be back into some some el nino type activity around wednesday thursday next week. but we'll see that can change in

the meantime enjoy what's left of a nice looking week. there's that slight chance tomorrow for a sprinkle. but don't don't change your plans based on that. >> all right bill thank you. well with all the rain we've already received this year, water officials around the state say they are confident there will not be a need for drought restrictions in 2024, according to the u.s. drought monitor, no part of the state has been under drought conditions since september. however, there is concern that the rain has fallen so quickly. some water agencies are prioritizing flood management over water recovery and are releasing water from reservoirs. >> a drug bust in san jose, a man accused of selling a new synthetic drug known as pink panther or tootsie. police say he was operating right out of a store in a shopping center on blossom hill road. >> ktvu south bay reporter lamonica peters talked with police and has more about the drug. >> san jose police say they arrested 32 year old luis carrillo molina after discovering evidence that he was manufacturing and intending to sell a drug concoction. it's

commonly known as pink cocaine. tootsie pink panther or pantera. rosa santa clara county health officials say. so far, there hasn't been a spike in overdoses involving the drug, but it is dangerous use. >> usually it's a combination of , uh, ketamine, ecstasy and amphetamines, um, in varying combinations. but it can also have, um, mixtures of opioids. so fentanyl, um, heroin, even potentially. and also sometimes caffeine. >> on january 19th, police say carrillo molleda was taken into custody at this shopping center on blossom hill road. records show. carrillo maeda owns this yum yum donut shop, but police haven't confirmed if drugs were found there. detectives say they discovered pink cocaine drug manufacturing parks a large amount of cash and unregistered firearm and ammunition. >> the san jose police department metro unit conducted

an investigation and um, in regard to illegal narcotics that were being manufactured and sold , uh, on the 400 block of blossom hill road. >> doctor nelson says the mixture of these drugs can be lethal and its symptoms can vary. but people should know its effects. >> when i read the mixtures of the ingredients in this drug, i'm expecting kind of agitation. hallucinations psychosis, kind of hyper stimulation. >> we are starting to see it like more cases of it. um, so we just want the public to be aware that it is out there. >> doctor nelson says that because this drug usually contains opioids, that narcan can be used to halt an overdose, but then the person should immediately be taken to the hospital for further treatment. lamonica peters ktvu, fox two news a beloved bay area chef taking part in super bowl festivities. >> we'll tell you about the party. guy fieri is hosting, along with the other food and drink highlights in las vegas.
