higher than they were before the pandemic. the associated press reports that that is prompting consumers to now shift away from name brands to store brand items, switch to discount stores or buy fewer items and that has led some food companies now to lower prices. and economists say the slow decrease in those prices will help to cool overall inflation. it appears that high inflation is also affecting everyone, even the tooth fairy. new figures show that she isn't paying as much for teeth this year. dental, dental delta did a survey and found the tooth fairy gave an average of about $6 a tooth last year. it's down, though, to around five bucks. past numbers show the amount paid for teeth usually mirrors economic trends. all right. >> when i was a kid, tooth fairy was $0.25 a good haul. that was a while back. all right, so as we look outside, we've got the long range model. i'm going to start with that. and we're going to kind of decide what the five

day will look like based on this. five days is going to be at the end of the weathercast. so here we go. here's to going into tomorrow. see these clouds that low to the south. kind of the rain kind of starts to come in on whoops i backed it up. tries to come in on monday but see it just sort of kind of goes away. so monday there's a slight chance of a sprinkle or shower. tuesday is fine. few clouds. wednesday is fine. and then this thing, see where it's coming from. this really what i wanted to get to tomorrow is not a big deal at all. just a few clouds and maybe a sprinkle, but most likely not. but this is a cold weather system, so it's going to drop snow level down pretty significantly down to around 3500ft. put a lot of snow up around lake tahoe on thursday night into friday into saturday, and a little bit into sunday as well. and then the system looks like it wants to roll off. so that's what you're going to hear this week. you'll see it also in the five day forecast. i mean you're going to hear is people talk about oh there's this big storm coming this cold storm. it's a typical storm and it doesn't seem like anything massive. other than it's an it's very different than the last

storms we had, which were warmer storms, el nino type storms and more moisture, higher snow levels. so these are the highs from today. pretty warm again, no records today, no records yesterday either, which was a surprise yesterday. it was ridiculously beautiful. and the low 70s today we had 72 in napa, 70 in fairfield. beautiful out days are getting longer. you can feel it right. we're heading towards the equinox. we've got a ways to go obviously, but daylight savings in a few weeks, if you can believe that. and so we're kind of moving our way into spring. here's the weather system that is sort of going to bring rain to southern california to bring us clouds tomorrow and maybe, just maybe, a sprinkle. but it doesn't appear like it's anything you have to change your plans over. then we get a break on tuesday. wednesday, actually, tomorrow is kind of a break too. and then thursday night into friday, that's the deal, okay? and that's when you're going to get the, the, the lower snow elevations and a winter storm warning for sure in the mountains. and we might see a little snow on bay area peaks. but as you know, when you have the, um, the colder event, you
6:24 pm
have colder air holds, cold air holds less water. these are the forecast for tomorrow. and so the idea how much rain are we going to get? well, we're not going to see an inch and a half two inches of rain from this because it's a colder storm. so the rainfall accumulate as heather and alex are going to be, you know, 10th of an inch, quarter of an inch kind of a thing, maybe a half inch at most. not an inch and a half like we saw with the last one. >> all right. a different deal, bill. thank you. the movie oppenheimer was one of the big winners at last night's 20th annual screen actors guild awards, picking up the award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. the film's star, cillian murphy, won the award for male actor in a leading role and robert downey jr won for his supporting role in that same film. the holdovers took home the sag award for best picture and honor that delighted the star of that movie. >> it's your fellow actors, you know, and it's like it's an organization of, you know, i've been a member since, i don't know how long, you know, and actors are the best. you know, i love actors, so to be
