rally tomorrow on the cal campus. the group says the university is not doing enough to protect its jewish students, staff and community members. ktvu to gain says more now from berkeley. more than 300 jewish students, faculty staff members, alumni and allies are sather gas part of their liberate the gate effort on monday morning. >> the group says the environment at uc berkeley has grown increasingly hostile towards theújewish community since the start of the israel-hamas conflict, and they argue the university is selective when applying its policies to different protesters . according to organizers, a pro-palestine protest held on completely blocked off by gate demonstrators, forcing students to walk through the creek bed to access campus. >> there's policy that states say their gate cannot be blocked on campus. this is a student organization that is responsible , my understanding for the riot that occurred. so not only is

this organization still registered at berkeley, but they've been allowed to block sather gate. >> the student march isn't the only effort to support the jewish community at cal. professor lock in inside of his office at 6 p.m. on thursday. he says it's his way of persuading the university to do more to protect jewish students, and he'll stay in his office until he sees >> the week and a half ago, as many have heard, when a speaker came to campus to talk about the israel-gaza conflict, a mob of 200, masked, students and non-students, attacked the venue, harmed multiple students, broke glass, damaged university property. so now students are really, really scared and worried. >> hannah schlachter is a graduate student at cal who testified before congress in february about what she calls a crisis on the university's campus. she says that the university's lack of action,

response to attacks on jewish students leaves her feeling unwelcomed when there is the riot. sp>> i went to the police statin with one of the students repeatedly, and to sit at a table and the ucpd office and have these two officers say to me in that student, there's nothing we can do to help you. that'súa feeling that i don't know how to describe, but that also sends the message that for me as a jewish student, i do not belong on this campus. and if i want to be safe, i need toúgo elsewhere. >> the march is set to begin at 11:45 a.m. at zellerbach playhouse, and head straight through sather gate, across campus in berkeley. tori gaines, ktvu, fox two news and a spokesman for uc berkeley today released a statement on both the existing protest and the planned protests for tomorrow. >> it reads in part. members of the campus administration are in contact with both the organizers of the existing protest at sather gate and those of the planned counter-protest the

administration is aware of, and is concerned about rising tensions on campus through dialog, we're seeking to reduce tensions so as to reduce the risk of conflict and violence on our campus. >> and the statement goes on to say, while we support the exercise of free speechc rights, the campus also seeks to enforce its time, place and manner restrictions. for that reason,t& we have been those aspects of te nonviolent protest at sather gate that violate those restrictions in regards to professor hannah's protest, the university said today, quote, the administration is committed to confronting anti-semitism and holds professor julie haener in great esteem. >> and it is in conversation with him about his concerns. thousands of pro-palestinian activists marched outside todayn hollywood. that protest created a traffic mess around dolby theater in los angeles. this aerial footage shows protesters snarling traffic near security checkpoints on sunset boulevard. police in riot gear were on the

scene. the protest was organized by groups including film workers for palestine and sag-aftra. members for cease fire. >> the chp is now investigatingn wounded on the bay bridge. this happened on the lower deck just east of yerba buena island. 820 last night, investigators say the gunman pulled up alongside the victim's vehicle and fired several shots. the victim was hit once and with non-life threatening injuries. the chp is working to determine a motive and identify the suspect a woman an early morning car accident today. it happened just along jd in near crane way. the preliminary investigation suggests the driver of a red infiniti heading southbound struck a brown honda traveling in a northbound lane. a 25 year old woman who was a passenger in the back of the honda, died at the scene. it is still not known if drugs or alcohol played a role in that crash. vallejo police say they have arrested

last week, 40 year old latriceng billingsley allegedly tried to steal a sienna while a man was detailing it at a business. police say the manúwas dragged about 20ft before billingsley fled the scene. it happened on laurel street on tuesday near alhambra avenue. both the man who was dragged and the owner of the sienna are now pressing charges. >> santa rosa police officers cd firearms on a pair of juvenilesf juveniles at a motel six and smelled marijuana on them, and during a pat down of those individuals, officers say they uncovered a colt 38 specialc revolver and the smith and wesson 38. both subjects were felony weapons charges. police in the east bay arrested two people and issued dozens of citations in connection with a sideshow in concord. officers say they seized three vehicles and wrote 32 citations connected to the sideshow activity on thursday night, police said. the same night, thousands of dollars in damage was done to a private

parking lot from a sideshow in pleasant hill. no word on any arrests during that sideshow. the vehicle seized for reckless driving or evading law enforcement are subject to a 30 day hold. police say owners can incur costs of nearlyú$3,000 just to have those vehicles released. >> san francisco's japantown task force hosted an open house this afternoon to show the public the new community space they are developing. the new center is 3300ft!s. japantowns cultural district partnered with coho, which will open a creative hub in the new center in june. explained that their vision is to connect with young audiences. >> the space will come together. it will be a space for arts, exhibitions, photography workshops, artist in residence programs and really give an opportunity for our for our young folks to come in and do some really amazing, authentic, japanese related cultural

comfortable living. and iúwant to be able to live worries about i'm going to do. >> earlier this week, 40 young women each were provided with a free laptop coordinated by self esteem, an oakland nonprofit. the computers were donated by i password and the warriors, a gift of learning. we were able to invite the girls, get their laptops, learn how to set them up, and it's just such an incredible tool for them to use throughout their their careers and for their stem pathway. thic was a hands on learning opportunity to help fill the pipeline of many careers coming in the years ahead. >> for girls who are getting interested in stem, and then we follow them through the pipeline and the career pipeline. so it's just immersionúexploration and then support asc they go on into their careers and their workforce. >> now the in stem education in high growth industries. ultimately advancing

the photo from their libraries because of concerns it had been possibly been photoshopped out. >> well, 49ers quarterback brock purdy tied the knot over the weekend, tmz reports. purdy wed his college sweetheart, jenna brandt, in des moines, iowa, yesterday. the couple, both 24 years old, met at iowa state university when they were freshmen and were together when purdy was drafted into the nfl. no word yet on where the couple plans to honeymoon. >> world war two veteranúis planning on getting married in france as part of celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of d-day. 100 year old harold terrence and his 96 year old boa raton, florida, planned to get married on june 8th in a chapel right near the beaches of normandy. terrence served from 1942 to 45 as a radio technician in the army air forces. the couple, who live in florida, have been dating since 2021, and they say theyújust enjoy somet& dancing, some kissing and just holding hands.

these were the highs from today. highs tomorrow will be a little bit warmer. i suspect a little bit, but mostly in the mid 60s. cover is there. the system is getting closer as we push into the next few hours. there it is to the north. we'll come and yoe the green, all of it. and it's like i said last week, it's sort of a not a direct hit system like this whole winter has been lots coast, and that's gotten us big, big rainfall, big snow. this is more of a drive by brush by system, but it has generated winter storm watch up in the mountains. i don't think it'll get into winter storm warning, but the winter storm is it stays in effect. the storm watch staysúin effect through tuesday morning. so there's at& couple systems. a stronger system comes in monday night into tuesday morning. so that's probably the one that would get you some snow, maybe 4 or 5 or six inches. but in the meantime, we have sort of an interesting week because we're going to brush it with this rain, this
