enforcement arrived, they found the container with an unknown substance, police and fire on the scene. now, people told to shelter in place. we will continue to andt& bring you the latest information as it becomes available. well, efforts toúrevisit the conviction of scott peterson are moving forward. after hearing this morning in san mateo county court, peterson was convicted 20 spyears ago of killing his wife and their unborn child. he claimsúhe is innocent of the killings and earlier this year, attorneys for the la innocence project agreed to take on his case an update on what happened in court . >> scott peterson's defense attorneys are asking for several things to revisit the case and years ago. and today, a san mateo county judge set dates and deadlines for those requests. peterson appeared in court via zoom for this hearing. the only time he spoke was when a judge asked him if he preferred to appear virtually or in person for future hearings. in his case, he told the judge zoom was fine. peterson's attorneys with the la innocence project want to

retest some of the dna evidence used against him when he was convicted unborn child in 2004. he is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of claimed in the past was innocent and has tried to have his conviction overturned. earlier this year, attorneys with the la innocence project agreed to take on his case and look at the evidence against him. they believe key evidence was left out of his trial, so they are asking for several motions to take another look at some of that evidence. and today , the stanislaus county district attorney's office said that they need more time. >> that's requiring us again to go back through things that are not necessarily in their materials, but it's in the court record, we also believe that a lot of these items have been raisedúand litigated as part of the initial appeal, and also splitigated as part of the first habeas. theregs a lot of back there is going to be a large

street in redwood city. >> now, this happened just before morning. 174 people were on board. no other injuries reported. the cause of that crash is under investigation now. governor gavin newsom touting the results of a chp sting operation targeting carjacking rings and gangs in oaklandl according to the governor. in recent weeks, the chp has made 168 arrests and recovered 360 stolen vehicles in oaklandúand other parts of alameda county. suspects were arrested on charges including possession of stolenúproperty, auto theft, transportation of narcotics, dui and felony gun possession. the arrests were a result of undercover operations and uniform patrols following the surge of chp officers in oakland in february. some small business owners in oakland's diamond district say they're fed up with the relentless crime and chaos that has hit their district. as ktvu alice wertz reports, they're now proposing withholding taxes from the city in the diamond district, restaurants and small businesses are fed up with crime, criminals

ofústealing a car with a two year-old inside. >> joy toyota is facing charges of vehicle theft and kidnaping. she is accused of stealing the car in san pablo just before 130 yesterday afternoonc. about 20 minutes later, san pablo police found the vehicle and the child old suspect also allegedly stole mother's cell phone. nowúpolice used it to track toyota to oakland, where she was detained after leading police on a short pursuit in another stolen vehicle. united airlines passengers heading to san spfrancisco from sydney,t& australia, had to be rebooked on another flight today following another incident on a boeing aircraft. the united airlines plane made an emergency landing yesterday after being forced to return to sydney just two hours into its nearly 14 hour flight to sfo. according to the airline. the boeing 777, carrying 183 passengers and crew, was redirected due to an undisclosedc maintenance issue. now, this is the seventh incident involving united airlines within the last week on

saturday, a united flight international airport united plo mexico city made an emergency splanding in los angeles due toa hydraulics issue. also last friday, a united plane rolled off aúrunway at the houston spairport and got stuck in gras. last thursday, united jet heading to japan from sfo lost a wheel during takeoff last monday. an sfo bound united flight from honolulu safely landed after an engine failure mid-flight. also on monday, a united flight from houston to florida made an emergency landing after an engine caught fire in mid-flight, the new yor3 of 89 tests conducted by faa investigators looking into the production process of the 737 max jets. the audit started after a door panel flew off of an alaska airlines plane mid-flight. faa investigators also found mechanics at the contractor, spirit aerosystems, did not meet quality standards, including using a hotel door key to check a door seal or using

dish soap as a lubricant for a door on the times report. well, the body of a whistleblower, boeing, was found over the weekend in north carolina from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. john barnett's body was found saturday in his truck in a hotel parking lot in the city of charleston. barnett was a former quality manager at boeing and had warned about what he describes as cutting corners on assembly lines. he was in the midst of a lawsuit against the company and was cross examined by boeing's lawyers and his own attorney days before he was found dead. no word of foul play is expected, but police are investigating airports across the country. prepping now for spring break travelers between this friday and april 15th. oakland international says it expects to see more than a million passengers for spring break. that's a this same time t year. the airport is recommending that people arrive earlyúfor their flights and book parking ahead of time. sfo says that's starting tomorrow through

haiti's prime minister announced he is stepping down after weeks of escalating violence in the caribbean nation. monday, the us military evacuated non-essential staff from the american embassy there as caribbean leaders met to hold an emergency meeting on that situation.úfox's greg palkot has the latest. >>úafter weeks of mounting chaos in haiti, embattled prime minister ariel henry announced he will resign, saying his government will dissolve once a sptransitional council is set u. >> it.

than it was under warden garcia. but this looks the same to me. and to many of our clients, seven prison workers have been found guilty of sex abuse in recent years. >> and that includes former warden ray garcia, who was sentenced to more than five years in federalúprison, a police officer in fairfield accused of sending inappropriate text messages to high school students. officer james lewis was arrested friday night. the 33 year old worked as a student resource officer at rodriguez high school. police say he exchanged inappropriate text messages and photos with two female students. fairfield's police chief says a parent of one of the students reported the incident to his department. >> and it's definitely a shock you're shocked and saddened andt turns into some anger, and there's a mixed emotions for sure, and i think everybody in the department is feeling that, the police chief says officer lewis asked to be a school resource officer. >> the district attorney's office says lewis is no longer
