i have children myself, and our first responders do, you know, it hits everybody at home. >> tragedy in the city of san francisco. a third person has now died after a car slammed right into a bus stop in west portal. >> the 11:00 news. fox two starts now. >> san francisco neighborhood shocked and saddened after a deadly collision. and tonight we do have new information about good evening everyone. >> i'm mike mibach and i'm julie julie haener. one adult and one child died at the scene, and three other people were sent to the hospital, including the driver. it happened yesterday and today. san francisco police confirmed a third person, an adult woman, died at from her ia small memorial has now been set up on uloa street, near the west portal muni station, where the bus stop used to be. support has spbeen pouring in as people who live nearby say this tragedy has touched everyone. >> feel for the entire family. it's been destroyed andl i just saw this sleeping stuffed animal, and i

just thought of the baby. and, you know, the family. god my het breaks. i feel like this is such a beautiful city, a kindúcity, and accidents happen. i get that, but, you know, it's just it's such a loss. >> the cause of the crash is still under investigation. police have not said if alcohol was a factor or if the driver had some kind of medical emergency, but the marks on the sidewalk indicate the car was traveling at a high rate of speed. there are no stop signs for about residents have expressed the need for new safety improvements. as they say, many drivers tend to speed through that area. a vigil to honor the victims is now set up for 5:00 tomorrow evening, and in a statement, san francisco supervisor myrna melgar, whose district includes the west portal neighborhood, said my heart is utterly shattered by the loss of life in our community. my office, along with

hearing a lot of sirens all day long now in petaluma, many more than i've heard before, and police again, still trying to track down whoever was responsible for this. information or perhapsne witht- surveillance video of these crimes to reach out in petaluma, zac sos, ktvu, fox two news. >> boeing is facing more criticism tonight after one of its planes was missing an external panel when it landed. united airlines flight 433 arrived in medford, oregon, from sfo friday morning with a missing panel underneath the aircraft. it's unclear when the panel broke off. the boeing 737 800 was carrying 139 passengers and six crew members. it is just the latest incident involving boeing planes, white administras faith in both the faa and ntsb in ensuring safety in the skies. >> what our commitment is, is to make sure that we want to put

the safety of americans first, and that's what faa is doing. and so they are taking actions. we stand by those actions to increase safety. obviously, an oversight of boeing united says the crew of flight 433 did >> and there was no indication that plane landed safely in.t- oregon. >> the southbound lanes of interstate 680 scheduled to reopen for the morning commute. caltrans did post video of the work that's been happening earlier in the day. a section of southbound 680 in pleasanton has beenúclosed this weekend to allow crews to repair the roadway with new pavement. traffic has been rerouted to 84 and 580 during the closure. the lanes are scheduled at 11 tonigt is underway to return a 12 acre property in marin county to indigenous stewardship. the nonprofit alliance for felix cove is seeking approval from the point reyes national seashore to build a history center. it also wants to plant

west coast rap officials say spthere were two people on boar. one died at the scene of the crash. the other person was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. maricopa county sheriff's deputies say the incident happened this morning right next to the runway at the airport. the national transportation safety board and the faa are in device was found outside a cannabis store in tacoma. >> surveillance video shows a te device, then throwing a molotov cocktail at the store, and the business owner is asking for help in identifying the person caught on camera. he says this is not the first time the shop

has been targeted. an employee of the store actually found the explosive device and immediately called police. tacoma police spresponded and safely disposedf that device. friday, but the store was then hit again this morning with part of its sign partially burned down andúup in oregon, two hikers made their way out of the woods near multnomah falls after being stranded overnight, the sheriff's office said it did receive the call for help last night. >> two women said they were stuck on a cliff and did not know how to get down. officers deployed drones to pinpoint the hikers location, and then around 4:00 this morning, a county search and rescue team also set out to find the two, but the

then this is a long range model. it shows nothing coming through on wednesday and then thursday, some clouds. and then here and t something on saturday and sunday. so that that last part of the week, once we get past wednesday, it's going to get it's going to change a lot. potential for some rain is definitely there. how much is still really, really in question. the highs today very pleasant. lots of 60s and 70s. cooler than yesterday. we had fog at the coast that cooled things off a little bit, and there'll be fog again tomorrow, but it'll be a little warmer in tomorrow. coastal spots will stay on the mild to cool side and with that in mind, the big ridge of high pressure. this is the satellite, not the computer model. but i showed you that model and it just shows things going up over the top all the way till wednesday. and then it pushes through underneath on wednesday night into thursday when we get clouds and a chance for some unsettled weather. you'll see in the five day forecast on friday, maybe some on thursday night, maybe something on friday, maybe. but really right now, really weak,

gamble that rewards skilled surfers with a thrill of a lifetime or severe punishment, leading to imminent danger. while the amazing rides highlight each surf day, a safety team has been emerging over the past six years. >> come in here and swamp with me. help! look for his board, please. >> someone else on the inside. are they clear? >> got one guy deep in the pit. >> at least to the mavericks rescue team is a tight knit group of eight volunteer locals sharing a passion for the ocean. they devote their time and energy to learn more about best rescue practices in big surf. >> it's got float inside them. the actual rope. >> we caught up with the group while they were organizing their equipment at their base camp, the pillar point harbor, where frank is the team manager. he has been patrolling this part of the coast since the 90s, training surf session out there is a trainingc session right. is take a certain skill and a choreography to it, but it's something that we've mastered over the years. >> they utilize personal watercraft and rescue sleds on a

surf day. since mavericks is a marine sanctuary, personal watercraft are only allowed under high surf conditions in on might resemble chaos, they have a strategy to maneuver in and out of danger.t& >> when someone does fall and someone's going in for a pickup, we always have someone else shadowing so that if they miss them, then there's someone else in a position to get them. >> it's intense, but there's also, you know, a calmness to it, everything. there's crazy stuff happening all around you, but you know, if you can just keep your your mental head space calm and clear and kind of like slow, slow down when everyone else is speeding up. >> each incoming swell is unique and introduces different challenges. preparation never stops. >> we usually don't get much sleep the night before, a big swell, and half of that's just watching the wind and the weather and seeing how it develops and go into providing y while safety crews are working in the very dangerous conditions in the surf zone. >> there's another set of eyes up here on this cliff, providing a very different perspective. meet eric w nelson, the

designated wave spotter. he hiks up this cliff running joke is id of water and i'm afraid to swim. so i said, how can i? how can i help out? and they said, you're on the cliff. keep an eye on things. writer down. guy got swallowed. oh, you got a board. >> you spot a loose board? sky inc the outside. >> after set waves roll throughc there can be ac lot to survey. eric paints the big picture that only he can see. there is constant communication with team members and the harbor patrol. >> we had a set wave come through. it was like six, seven waves in the set and for the tae rescue guys only thought that there was three guys going through the rocks, and i was able to spot that fourth guy. they're like, are we cleari& go, nope, there's another guy in there. slap up and over boom. >> and then you're down underwater. >ñ taylor paul,, was on the rescue sled after a bad fall on this wave last year. >> i was so out of breath. i was

so gassedúthat i was, i wasn't i was the waves take me through the rocks during the rescue after coughing up blood. >> taylor couldúhear radio chatter. he realized he was being watched from the beginning . >> they were coordinating where they were going to pick me up, and how and if i was okay. and where i was. and it just was like it it struck me how professional the whole thing was and how honest those guys are. >> when the waves go flat, the team stays busy, unified with other local agencies. they lead a free water safety summit every fall to educate the public, the whole community is invited, ranging from expert surfers to casual beach visitors. >> we'll have the patrol boats with the rescue watercraft with the mavericks water patrol. we'll have air station san francisco with a helicopterl and we'll run through some drills. that would be real life scenarios should it happen. so we're all better prepared from 2ft to 20ft, their difference. >> i'm proud of these guys for sure. 100, just the dedication that they put in, like it's not
