bay fc squad will be representing the us under 20 women's youth national team, 19 year old defender savvy king is on the 20 player roster for the team's trip to germany. she and the us team will play the host germany on friday and then face off against canada on sunday. the under 20 team features three other professional players who are all rookies in the national women's soccer league. >> the 11:00 news on ktvu, fox two starts now. >> this amplification is not only intrusive, it causes even more suffering to the women and men who come to the clinic for help. >> change is coming to a planned parenthood in the east bay tonight, the walnut creek city council takes action after dozens of noise complaints over loud anti-abortion protesters. the planned parenthood has been the site of protests for years. hello again. >> i'm greg lee and i'm julie julie haener. the city of walnut creek banned protests within eight feet of the of the facility two years ago, but that

encouraged protesters to use noise amplifiers. ktvu lamonica peters tells us those two will soon be banned on tuesday night, people who live and work at the planned parenthood on oakland boulevard in walnut creek told the council about how their lives have been affected by loud protests. >> i have recordings i would like to play for you that show how loud it is compared to the ambient noise. i am 40 to 50 people 50ft away from these people. >> the protesters are using voice augmenting devices and saying horrible things. i went into the clinic because i wanted to see how loud it was. you could hear everything that was being said loud and clear. >> walnut creek adopted an ordinance in 2022 to protect access to planned parenthood, prohibiting protesters from gathering within eight feet of its entrances. since then, police say they've received 36

calls about protester related noise and patient harassment. now, walnut creek says it will adopt an ordinance prohibiting sound amplified ears like bull horns from use within 100ft of the property's entrances. >> there are options to potentially put up a sign. there may also be the option of depicting or painting some sort of line or indication on the ground, on the sidewalks during the meeting, anti-abortion advocates said the city hasn't said how loud bullhorns or microphones can be, and they simply want to get the attention of women entering planned parenthood. >> i've had the privilege of counseling 24 moms to choose life. all of this was made possible partly because they could hear me again. >> i believe that amplification of some level should be allowed so that it can be heard by those walking in. >> the council says that it will officially adopt an amendment next week, and that it will become effective 30 days later. lamonica peters ktvu, fox two

news new at 11 san rafael union employees spoke out at tonight's city council meeting over what they call a public staffing crisis. >> this level of overwork is completely unsustainable and is taking a major physical and mental toll on your dedicated public servants, overworked and fatigued employees are more prone to making mistakes, even in critical areas like public safety and utilities, seiu members said. >> low pay is leading people to leave the city. union street maintenance workers, administrative staff and child care providers, among others. among others, say short staffing may be putting residents at risk . >> we've got few people doing what many used to do and keeping up with it and they do a hard job. they do sometimes a dangerous job there in the winters for you. they're on call for you when you need them. >> one maintenance worker says their staff cannot keep up with

crumbling roads. when public works employees said seven people are doing the work that used to be done by a team of more than 20 union contracts are set to expire this summer. >> also new at 11. antioch city leaders say they're cracking down on sideshows after multiple incidents of illegal street activity over the weekend, officials said. multiple sideshows took place in antioch, oakland and unincorporated parts of contra costa county. in antioch. an estimated 200 people blocked a major intersection as cars spun donuts and spectators shot off fireworks. sunday, the mercury news reports. antioch city leaders are now installing an electric gate at the city's boat launch, and have also installed new traffic barriers near some major intersections, where sideshows often occur. >> tonight, heartbreak among humanitarian aid groups in gaza after a deadly airstrike killed seven aid workers in a convoy, the israeli military are now responding with an apology. ktvu is jana katsuyama joins us now

after speaking with one of the nonprofit groups that are now delaying relief efforts due to safety concerns. gianna. julie, those are big concerns. >> now, the world central kitchen, another nonprofit called project hope, and other groups say that humanitarian aid is essential to prevent starvation among more than 1 million palestinians. but the airstrike has drawn international condemnation today from the un, european union, uk and other countries, all saying israel is failing to provide enough security for aid workers under international law. images of the gaping holes and shredded metal from the israeli airstrike have sent shock waves through the international community. the convoy of humanitarian aid workers with world central kitchen were in vehicles clearly marked with their nonprofit signs when they were bombed on tuesday afternoon, the world central kitchen posted the names and photos of their seven colleagues who were killed. coworkers gathered grieving at a hospital in rafah as their

colleagues remains were brought in. other humanitarian aid groups operating in gaza also heartbroken. >> one of our employees actually was a cousin, a distant cousin of one of the victims, adam fuller, with the nonprofit project hope, said. >> this is just the latest in a mounting death toll of humanitarian workers trying to provide desperately needed aid to palestinians who face famine conditions. the former ceo of world central kitchen posted images of his australian friend in an online article, remembering her smile. grieving the loss, president biden condemned israel's actions. the president, in a statement said, quote, israel has not done enough to protect aid workers trying to deliver desperately needed help to civilians. incidents like yesterday's simply should not happen. israel has also not done enough to protect civilians. israel's prime minister benjamin netanyahu said in a statement. it was a, quote, tragic case of

our forces unintentionally hitting innocent people. and israel's military leaders later apologized in a 2.5 minute video. >> it was a mistake that followed a misidentified location at night during a war in a very complex conditions. it shouldn't have happened. >> humanitarian relief groups say only one fifth of the aid actually needed is getting into gaza. israel's military did announce that they have created a new humanitarian command center today to better coordinate with aid groups, and they have also promised an independent investigation. julie >> all right. jana, thank you for that new information in the powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake that rocked taiwan in their early morning hours, we are learning four people have died in the quake. >> you can see how several buildings partially collapsed after the violent shaking. the earthquake was felt around the island, with highway and railway

transports severed by landslides , the usgs reports. the quake hit just off the coast of the island nation. that was followed by a 6.5 magnitude aftershock about 12 minutes later, with others that followed. >> new at 11 tonight, another cyber security incident in the bay area, this time at a health care facility, north bay health, which has medical centers in fairfield and vacaville, says it started having computer system disruptions on monday. they say they have brought in cybersecurity experts to restore systems as quickly as possible. they say they're using established downtime procedures to safely care for patients, and a program that supports people. recently released from prison just welcomed 50 new members that program is called ready for life, and it's hosted by the nonprofit. crop members will gather at crops west oakland campus to learn skills that will help them reintegrate successfully and permanently. members will get personal leadership coaching, financial wellness training, and more.

story begins tonight. west coast rap officials first responded to a suspect in a stolen truck this morning in alhambra, east of los angeles. that chase spanned over an hour. video shows the driver taking off erratically through neighborhoods, hitting speeds of more than 70 miles an hour and cutting across driveways and yards. the suspect eventually left the truck and took off running. that's when a group of people confronted the suspect, shoving him into a chair in a parking lot. they held him until authorities made it to the scene and arrested him in new mexico. >> a suspected shoplifter tried to outrun an officer who was on a horse. albuquerque police body cam video shows a horse trotting through a parking lot behind a man in black clothing. the officer was able to catch up with that man in a matter of seconds. he yelled, it wasn't me! as he fled from the officers into the street stopping traffic. two more officers arrived on horseback and one was able to handcuff that suspect.

he was accused of stealing $230 worth of merchandise from walgreens, and later charged with shoplifting and evading police on foot in las vegas. >> today marks the end of an era, as the tropicana hotel and casino closed its doors for the last time. it has been a fixture on the strip for decades. the tropicana was a frequent hangout for the rat pack and the mob. today, the doors were chained. the tropicana is vegas's third oldest hotel and casino. when it opened in 1957, it was the most expensive resort in sin city. >> it was a tiffany in las vegas . it was like, like an icon. when i started working here, everybody that would come to work here was like, hey, you work at the tropicana? how did you get in there? >> with the tropicana being gone? it's just like, you know, it feels like no vintage las vegas is just fading away. and bit by bit, the hotel will be demolished in october to make

way for the a's new ballpark. >> the ballpark is set to open in 2028, and you can hear about the west coast top stories every weekday right here on ktvu. >> west coast rap with alex savage airs at 7:00 monday through friday or you can find around the clock coverage at west coast rap.com. >> a daylong conference at uc berkeley held the first ever leadership summit for higher education. >> that event was hosted by the white house initiative on asian americans, native hawaiians, and pacific islanders, and hundreds of people turned out. ketv is alice wirtz explains the event was about merging culture and community. >> in january of 2023, president biden established an executive order to coordinate all government agencies to advance equity, justice, and opportunity for asian americans. native hawaiians, and pacific islanders. uc berkeley hosted the first ever asian american and native hawaiian pacific islander leadership institute for higher education. the hope is to engage the feds and the state more with providing resources for these historically

underserved populations. standing room only with over 600 leaders and other stakeholders in higher ed, convened at the request of president biden and the white house. berkeley happens to be the birthplace of the asian american and home to one of the first asian american studies programs in the country. policymakers from around the state also attended culture and community, and learning from each other. >> i think it is so important for us to convene together, bring the right minds together in one place, because when you bring the right minds in place, it starts the conversation. what are the lessons learned from other states or from other campuses? so convening of the right minds is so important. and that's exactly what's happening today. and we're so grateful to the white house initiative on aa and nhpi for bringing us together. >> advocates say part of the problem of being able to serve these groups has been inaccurate. data collection about demographics beyond just aapi. but now that's changing.

according to the deputy director for aapi nhpi for the white house, erika moritsugu. >> true that now you will no longer have to check just one box. you're not limited to the one box you can check. you can self-identify with multiple races and ethnicities, which i think is an increasing part of what america looks like, what real america looks like. the effort of bringing together these leaders will encourage those in the pipeline of administration in higher ed, so necessary to address the needs adequately. and just like the campus of learning, we're learning and we're connecting. and so what we've done is brought together the best and the brightest from across the country and across the pacific to listen and learn from each other and to connect with each other as, professionals, as caregivers and caretakers of our next generation of leaders. >> it's tremendous. one of the first time ever, we've had our community come together like this. there's a huge issue, and we're looking for solutions. we believe that education is one of

involved in the crash over the weekend, was registered in his name. the wreck involved two speeding drivers who lost control of their vehicles, a corvette and a lamborghini. dallas officials say multiple people were injured in the crash . we spoke with tmz earlier about the ongoing investigation and the dash cam video showing some of what happened. >> as soon as the crash happens, you can actually see it on video . they are leaving the scene immediately and actually people that were standing there, people that were, you know, victims of this crash, are actually filming them and shouting to them, hey, are you guys going to stay back? are you guys going back to your cars? but at that moment, nobody else is speaking and you could just see them walking away off the highway there. and that's that's what the police are investigating right now, even though police have not confirmed rice was in one of the cars, they do confirm he has been cooperating in this investigation. >> tmz says the kansas city

chiefs have also responded to the incident, saying the team is focused on getting to the bottom of it. >> san francisco's mexican museum is asking the san francisco chronicle to retract an article it calls slanderous. that article details a recent audit of the museum, which found grant funds were being spent on ineligible activities. the mexican museum denies that the audit found any misappropriation of funds. museum officials say they have contacted the chronicle's legal team demanding a retraction of that article. >> the ordway building, it is the tallest building in the skyline of oakland. it stands 404ft tall, and the reason why i'm mentioning that is because we can see it this evening. you can tell we have a gray slate behind it. the clouds roughly down to about 800ft, will continue to lower throughout the overnight hours. and this is what it will look like overnight. you can see the clouds just hugging the entire coastline of the state of california, at least from about san luis obispo through the bay

oh, let's say, about 4/10 of an inch of rain in san francisco expected with the next incoming system about an inch in the higher elevations. and oh, it's going to be so cold at about 3800ft at mount diablo, we will see a smattering of some light snow. same story at mount hamilton as well. tonight overnight, not as cold into the 40s and 50s tomorrow we drop a good ten degrees 12 degrees in some neighborhoods. it was 79 degrees today in san rafael. tomorrow 64 degrees, 67 degrees in san jose through cupertino, into campbell, los gatos and saratoga. let's walk you through the extended forecast because we will have the cold showers and blustery winds on thursday. that's the outside number 57 degrees. so it's going to be much colder throughout most neighborhoods. and then unsettled weather for your friday and dry. but cool on saturday. >> all right. thanks roberta. new at 11 tonight. plans to turn wastewater into tap water. are still on hold in marin county, california. approved new rules

in december allowing waste water agencies to recycle wastewater over and put it back into drinking water pipes. but north bay water regulators say those projects come with high costs and complexities. as the marin independent journal reports, regulators say they are interested in expanding a current system that delivers recycled water for irrigation, toilet flushing and cooking. several project ideas are currently being considered, but staff members say more research is needed to move forward. >> here's a look at the stories trending tonight@ktvu.com. one of our top stories in american canyon. two people are now in police custody after a triple shooting that happened in a safeway parking lot. an applications opened today for affordable housing units set aside for san francisco educators. the applications will be available until the 23rd and the most important snow survey of the season was conducted today, showing that significant snowfall in march tipped the scales for the snowpack, which is now above average for the season. you can find these

playing at this year's outside lands festival, but fans will soon get their free shot first shot at tickets to that annual san francisco event. >> a limited number of three day general admission wristbands will go on sale tomorrow morning at 10:00. prices for the eager beaver presale start at $425 plus fees. the music and food festival is set for august 9th through august 11th in golden gate park. the lineup is expected to be released later this month. >> an inner richmond neighborhood will be closed for a movie shoot tomorrow, sfgate reports. a movie with the working title project brick breaker is slated for production at the corner of ninth avenue and clement street at the 1960s era hamburger haven restaurant. the restaurant owners posted this to instagram and apologized for any inconvenience. the shoot is set to last from tomorrow morning at 1130 to 130 in the morning on thursday, the san francisco film commission said. because of late night filming activity, they had previously reached out and notified the community ahead of time. >> also in san francisco, a new
