it's monday morning april 15th looks nice and clear outside. let's check in with steve paulson for the forecast. >> just go up above. there's a lot of low clouds there so it looks better today. after the unseasonably strong cold system on the weekend 40 to 50 on the tenths. but there's a lot of low clouds. residual moisture left behind. a few high clouds might drift across, but we'll get a mix of a lot of low clouds doing our doing our best to kick in the clouds away. slow process because there's a big low cloud deck hanging around but slightly warmer today. still below average though with 60s on most of the temps. warmer conditions kick in tomorrow. all right, alice here at 6:00 in the morning. good. bad. indifferent. what's going on out there all of a sudden in the last 10 to 15 minutes, we had some pretty serious crashes happening blocking a couple of lanes. >> we're going to go to the maps this is going to be a problem if your commute is in the dublin pleasanton area. if you're getting from the tri-valley down to the south bay, because take a look at this. the biggest crash, the most problematic one is
6:02 am
southbound 680 just north of vargas or near andrade road. and that's where you see a big backup starting to build. this is a crash involving three vehicles. it is blocking a couple of lanes. give yourself some extra time if this is your commute or consider you know if you're coming from dublin, pleasanton or livermore, just going around and getting around this crash to 880. with that, we will take a look at the triple a traffic camera picture of 880 in that southbound direction over by oakland. it's getting a little busier southbound, northbound things look okay. san mateo bridge traffic looks okay at this hour. and let's go to the bay bridge toll plaza, where you see the sun coming up through those clouds in the east bay hills. and a bit of a crowd at the toll plaza. not too bad yet. this is about a 10 to 15 minute delay to get onto the span. 601. let's go back to the desk. >> all right. thank you. ali two san francisco jails went on lockdown this weekend. that's after sheriff's deputies say they have been attacked by inmates. ktvu james torres live with the details of the lockdown and what the sheriff's deputies union is now demanding from city

leaders. james pam, good morning. >> well locked down at two county jails means there are no programs going on, no visitation, no services happening at those two jails for the time being. the san francisco deputy sheriffs association is now calling on the national guard to come in to help fill some of these gaps. they say left behind by some staffing shortages and they say as a result, in the last three weeks, nine of its deputies have been attacked within those county jails. just friday, the union says some of its deputies suffered some dislocated shoulders and other instances, and some deputies were punched or even bitten by those inmates. the union president says there is a significant increase in violence in the jails, says that's happening because of what they call a lack of urgency in addressing short staffing levels. the union president penned a letter to mayor london breed, sheriff miyamoto and other city leaders to try to bring in the national guard to fill in gaps left behind by those staffing levels.
6:04 am
>> the deputies to be there for backup for emergencies, and you need deputies for you know, command presence as a deterrence and all that's being whittled away and our staffing is thinning out and there's no aggressive hiring. >> san francisco sheriff's office responded that call, saying the request for a national guard to address staffing levels right now is premature, adding the agency is working to address the issues and has a plan to, quote immediately address the increase in assaults on our members. now, there's no word yet on when exactly the lockdown will officially be lifted. though the jail did give us an indication that jail services would return back to normal this week. reporting live this morning i'm james torres, ktvu, fox two news okay, james thank you. >> time is 604. police in napa still investigating a shooting saturday night where two young women were killed. it happened

6:18 am
out several jurors right there. the lawyers will not be able to ask questions like who they voted for, what party they're registered with, or if they've made political donations. but they will, however, be able to ask if they have strong feelings about the former president or if they're members of any groups that could be seen as leaning one way or the other for or against the president. they will all have to answer a 42 question questionnaire before lawyers can even start asking those questions. this could last a week or two, so it's going to be a long process. and the defense is really going to be trying to find the most sympathetic jurors they can. >> and one other question how might this trial affect the presidential race? that's the case. >> well, one of the former president's key arguments here wanting to delay the trial was he wants to be out on the campaign trail. he says this isn't fair, though. obviously, he's getting a lot of media attention every day he's here. wednesdays. the trial won't be on, so that'll be a free day to campaign. and of course, weekends. i think we're likely to see him do a lot of campaign

6:35 am
once police blocked off that exit, one car still tried to get around. you could see the driver of that blue car and the passenger eventually get detained. then another car barreled through the police line. this white car here hitting two police cruisers, taking off after what sounded like a gunshot. police stood by as cars burnt rubber and at least three cars were lit on fire. you can see one person stand on top of the car as flames take it over. then other people set off fireworks around it as well. overall, this was just a mess in oakland. oakland police haven't said how many people were arrested, but they say this investigation is ongoing. dave, back to you. >> all right, amanda, thank you. time is now 634. the investigation also continues in antioch into a deadly multi-vehicle crash where one person was killed. the first report of it came in yesterday afternoon, about 410. police say a lexus suv was going westbound on west 10th street. and an acura sedan was going northbound
