a wild a little bit of fog. you can see that santa rosa healdsburg, also creeping up the napa valley. not as much as we saw yesterday, that's for sure. more so santa clara valley again. morgan, has it been a foggy may and june and santa clara valley? yes. also on the santa cruz coast, some breaks on the san mateo coast. nice, nice. very nice. today temperatures coming up a little bit. i didn't go with a big warm up like some did. i'm going 60s 70s and mainly low to mid 80s. all right. when it comes to the commute, time waits for no one. so how is it out there? >> you know what it's i would say it's nice. nice. very nice when it comes to the bay bridge. steve, i would yeah. let's take a look here, westbound bay bridge looks very nice. we don't have a big backup, but we do have some issues. highway four has some slow traffic. there's a stalled vehicle coming up on the willow pass exit. and also 37. we hit a crash on 37 at 121. don't let that surprise you. now, if you're leaving from vallejo to novato, it is not light. definitely not. even

though the rest of the bay area commute seems to be 701. let's get back to the headlines. >> thank you. sal. today, santa clara vta will officially begin work to add a bart station to the south bay. at the same time, the transit agency is responding to a state audit on its leadership. ktvu james torres joins us now live to explain the plans and break down the audit. good morning. >> pamela. puppet transportation expansion. and that's something that's been in the works for years. and it's been delayed for years. vta leading the charge here to add six more miles of track and four more bart stations extending through san jose. and while that's well celebrated, the vta is also working through recommendations out of a state audit. assembly member marc berman called for the audit in 2022. that's when he questioned vta's management and oversight, and that report recommended the transit agency reform, its oversight and a couple of different ways as it stands, each board member must be an elected official, which the audit says could be a problem if those officials don't

have any experience in transit. it also mentions the short tenure each board member serves. it's only about two years, which is shorter than other similar agencies of similar sizes. in general, the audit says vta is working through most of its recommendations, but did mention vta rejected two proposals, one regarding the term limits and another about adding more public transparency to the board appointment process. in a press release, vta leaders called the audit thorough, fair, and thoughtful, but did not address rejecting those recommendations. in a statement, assembly member berman said, quote, i do not understand why vta would choose to protect their power to appoint and remove board members behind closed doors with no public transparency or justification, undermining the agency's accountability to residents. i do not understand why vta thinks it is better for board members to serve for shorter amounts of time, given the breadth and complexity of the services vta provides. now,

vta is required to check in with the state on its progress throughout other. those other recommendations that bart expansion. it's going to take a long time to complete. it's set to be done by 2037. pam. >> all right. thank you. james. a federal lawsuit against the san francisco police department over the 2023 dolores park hill bomb skateboarding event is now moving forward. three teenagers are suing the city and the police department for response to that chaotic event. they claim that they were detained without probable cause. a judge blocked the city's attempts to dismiss a possible class action lawsuit, which means more of those teens arrested could join the lawsuit. the ruling was first reported by mission local. while the lawsuit can move forward, the judge also struck down free speech and racial discrimination claims, with the lawsuit our time now 704 in north oakland, the leaders of a charter school are suing the oakland unified school district. >> the lawsuit, filed in alameda county superior court, was a response to the school district's decision to revoke the charter of the north oakland

community charter school. the lawsuit claims that the school district is doing this, even though the charter school is meeting the academic goals outlined in a 2019 agreement to keep the school open, oakland unified says it does not respond to pending legal matters. >> a city task force is recommending berkeley schools consider providing financial payments to the city's black students, who are descendants of slavery. now berkeley's 18 member reparations task force presented its official report to the berkeley unified school district board wednesday night. the panel said its 54 page report boils down to three main suggestions. >> consider 12 possible funding sources, but we are here to recommend three. first is solicit philanthropic corporate giving. second, initiate a lawsuit. third, propose a tax measure via initiative. >> now, the task force also says

the reparations program could be funded by corporations and local philanthropic foundations. >> our time is now. 705 doctors, nurses, county officials in the south bay are increasingly worrying about a plan to close down the regional medical center's trauma center. this summer. they held what they called a lives lost rally, a marched and carried caskets to symbolize the deadly consequences of closing that trauma, center county supervisor cindy chavez says for the people who live nearby, it's a major concern. >> significant traumas will all be going to one of two trauma centers either valley medical center or stanford. they're very far away from here. they are removing a life saving resource from our community. >> supporters of the trauma center say they started a petition, and they've now collected nearly 5000 signatures, urging state officials to step in and keep the doors open. the trauma

center is scheduled to close in august. >> oakland's new police chief, floyd mitchell, outlined his first proposed budget for the department. chief mitchell provided the details of his $346 million budget plan at last night's meeting. he says the plan will freeze staffing levels at 678 officers, and that there won't be any layoffs. however some civilian positions may be eliminated, such as crime scene technicians and evidence technicians. the chief says his priority is getting back to basics, providing high visibility on our streets and responding to 911 calls for service because that's where we are at this point in time. >> when you have a police department that is slowly shrinking and they'll call for service or the workload is getting better, bigger, you have to really focus on what you can do. >> chief mitchell has been on the job for about a month now, and says most of his budget plan was already in place before he arrived in oakland. >> our time now is 707. oakland voters will be asked to help

five cultural attractions the city council will place a $182 million bond measure on the november ballot, and if it's approved, this money would pay for projects for sites including the chabot space and science center, children's fairyland and the oakland museum of california. the projects include renovations, security, storing, collections, and improved amenities for visitors. >> the alameda county fair kicks off today in pleasanton. organizers hope to draw last year's attendance, which was about 440,000 people in the 24 days. this year's activities include fan favorites, the ferris wheel, fireworks, a drone show and of course, all that good fair food. performers taking the stage will include bay area rapper e-40 and the 80s female group exposé. exposé staff at the fairgrounds are recommending this year's new dog and raptor shows. >> the dogs are going through the course. they're jumping through the air, landing in the

water. we also have a raptor show this year. raptors, birds of prey, super popular. you'll get to see them up close and personal. >> the alameda county fair goes till july 7th. the alameda county fairgrounds out there in pleasanton. it is contactless, so you do need to buy your tickets and parking passes online ahead of time. and you can go to ktvu.com and click on web links for more information on. there are ticket kiosks at the fair, though for you and the prices are the same as online. >> time now is 709. and just like e-40, i'm going to tell you when to go. and if you're on highway 37, you should go now. it's going to take you longer. getting out of vallejo another e-40 reference, sort of, heading west over to novato. you are going to see a lot of slow traffic. that's because of an earlier crash involving two pickup trucks right at 121, and one pickup truck burned to the ground. no one was hurt, but it

was a spectacle, and people are going to be stuck in slow traffic. some people have been using the richmond-san rafael bridge as an alternate. this is the bay bridge. we don't have a lot of slow traffic there today, and that's pretty good. likewise for that san mateo bridge. it's a little crowded, but it looks pretty good heading over to the peninsula at 709. let's go back to the desk. >> okay, sal. thank you. well, those accessory dwelling units, also known as adus, they just became more valuable. we have details of the new ordinance ban that would allow homeowners to sell those units as separate properties. >> this is another person in our community lost from traffic violence designing our streets for bike and ped and people taking the bus. it's the best way that we're going to get to zero fatalities. >> concerns about safety and crossing streets in san francisco after another pedestri was killed

it was a memory of a victim of a deadly hit and run crash. and the leaders say this reflects an even bigger problem. >> ktvu is andre senior joining us now in studio with the details of that. >> this has happened so often across the bay area and the city as well. well, last night's

vigil was held in the city's bernal heights neighborhood. that's where a 41 year old man was struck and killed while crossing the street early on monday morning. police they're still searching for the driver responsible now for this tragedy. the safety group walk sf organized the vigil. the leaders of that group say the city needs to make safety improvements on mission street near courtland avenue, where the victim was killed. and they say similar safety upgrades must be made in order in other dangerous intersections all across san francisco, designing our streets for bike and ped and people taking the bus. >> it's the best way that we're going to get to zero fatalities and really bring down the serious injuries. >> san francisco transit leaders say the city has installed more speed cameras and posed new traffic safety rules, and created more dedicated bike lanes in just the past few years. but walk sf says it needs to do much more, and one person who uses his bike to get around the city well, he strongly agrees. >> i'm inactive like a very frequent biker, so. and a walker

so. so it is important for me to like have pedestrian safety. and i think there's a lot of work that the city should be doing that i don't see being done. and i wish that the city did more. >> meantime, san francisco police continue their investigation into monday night's deadly hit and run crash . investigators want to hear from any witness who can provide more information about what happened there. they're also hoping someone will step forward with cell phone video of this deadly crash. pam. >> all right. thank you. andre. san francisco muni plans to remove the controversial bike lanes on valencia street. last august, muni started a year long pilot program to see if those center running bike lanes would improve safety in the mission district. but now, after getting pushback from businesses, cyclists and drivers, the city will now end the experiment early. and they're preparing to push the bike lanes back to the sides of the street. >> the main reason why we went with the center running design was to support the local merchants in their parklets, now

that we have heard from them, we're realizing that the best option for both safety and to support the local merchants is likely, side running design. >> the city says it will look for board approval for the next plan. the new plan next week. >> all right, we look to solve right now to get us where we need to go around in our commute . how's it look? what are you checking on? >> i'm checking on a problem here in the south bay. >> dave and pam, northbound 101. at 280. i noticed that there's some slow traffic here on 101. the good thing about san jose is there are some good alternate routes. so you can avoid 101, use 87, use 85, and avoid 101 at 280. it's not like today is very crowded and there are some good alternate routes on the north side of the bay. we've also been checking highway 37 is a mess out of vallejo westbound because of an earlier crash, right at 121. one vehicle completely burned to the ground. no one was

hurt, but the vehicle is charred there on the side. you can have to get it out with a flatbed truck. and the traffic has been heavy. it might start improving. they're making some progress, but don't be surprised by that. bay bridge is light. 716 let's talk about today's weather. >> here's steve, i was just talking to you, young man, out there in the newsroom. >> yes, sir. you know, it's always nice when you come visit my little traffic center here. >> yes, sir. all right, i enjoyed it. all right. we do have some cool lows for june 14th. is it just me or have you noticed it's been a cooler summer so far for us so far. we get a couple of days of heat and then it comes right back down. occidental, sonoma and san anselmo made it to 44. terra linda was also in there as well. woodside 45, windsor was 46. healdsburg also made it to 46. fairfax in there, palo alto 47, clayton 48. there were many 49. martinez was in there. i know los altos was in there. maybe you're a backyard thermometer as well, but for us, these are cool lows for this time of year. i think some low clouds have come

in. plus the night is so short now, but even on the coast, bodega bay 49. there's occidental now. 45, 47 cloverdale. that's cool for this time of year. you kidding me? this is the main factor here. the forecast on the almanac for san francisco 6452 today. average 6753. it's all about this right there on this date in 2000, it was 103 in san francisco for a record high. it was 107 in san jose and 108 in santa rosa. if you're a longtime resident, there were also record highs set on the state in 1961. west southwest travis, south wind, hayward. south wind. concord. so, i mean, there's a decent breeze. not not roaring or anything. 49 water temp point arena 49 point ray's, what's interesting is next sunday, monday, tuesday, we could get a strong northwest wind. if that happens, these may go down. you may see 48, which is extremely rare. we saw it once last summer. so something to watch for next week. 4050 on the temps here a couple of low 60s. we are

running cooler though than 24 hours ago, except for half moon bay, but just 1 to 4. but if it feels a little cooler to you this morning, it is. today will be nice. i mean, i just bumped temps up a little bit. i didn't buy any of these upper 80s or 90s, but it'll be a little warmer today. and then a really a wind producing system is coming in sunday, monday and tuesday. friday sunshine, some low clouds, but there's noticeable breaks in it compared to yesterday. highs 60, 70, 80. if you might push the upper 80s. the big news though again, will be when we meet again sunday. monday into tuesday could be downright windy around here. >> thank you steve. visitors to a popular lake tahoe destination will now have to book a reservation over. crowding is forcing the state parks department to set up reservations for sand harbor beach, which is just south of incline village. a lot of people head to the area during the summer and clogged that stretch of highway 28. that leads to the beach reservation lines open in july for visiting sand harbor beach from august 17th to october 13th, just looking at

that water though, makes me want to go. there is a $5 nonrefundable fee. a warning for colleges that do not condemn anti-semitism on campus. the measure is being considered following the latest protests and 12 years ago, the lives of hundreds of thousands of undocumented youth changed because of daca. >> what immigrant rights groups and advocates are demanding now that the daca program is entering another year?

antisemitism on campuses. the powerful house ways and means committee held a hearing titled crisis on campus anti-semitism radical faculty and the failure of university leadership. the witnesses who testified included a graduate of cornell university and an assistant professor from columbia university. they claim that schools nationwide are not doing enough to protect jewish students and faculty from violent protests. >> the message was very clear rules are meaningless and lawlessness is rewarded. >> we must hold accountable the faculty who openly support and celebrate terrorism.

>> the lawmakers are considering punishment like revoking the tax exempt status of schools that allow anti-semitism to spread on their campuses. republican lawmakers also want to investigate the funding for campus protests. and if the money is coming from foreign governments. >> tomorrow is the 12th anniversary of daca, the deferred action for childhood arrivals program. fighting for justice, fighting for justice. >> no more deportation and no more deportation. >> a group of daca recipients and supporters gathered at capitol hill, urging the biden administration to expand protections for so-called dreamers. now joining the group was california senator alex padilla. he says president biden can help daca recipients and undocumented communities through bold executive action. >> i'm talking about teachers and caregivers, nurses and doctors, people, people who have grown up in america just like so

many us citizens, but do not enjoy legal status. >> i, along with my family and millions of other daca recipients, should be able to feel safe in the place we call home, free from the ever present shadow that we are only one policy away from being stripped from friends and loved ones. >> an estimated 530,000 people in the u.s. are considered dreamers. they entered the country illegally as children and later applied and received temporary lawful immigration status. but the policy is currently being litigated in the courts now, according to daca supporters, they say the program has made a big difference for undocumented immigrants. when daca began in 2012, 60% were in the labor force. now it's 88% the median income was just $4,000. now it's about 37,000 or 35% went to college. since its inception, and nearly every recipient has graduated from a

us high school and half went to college. >> our time now. 725 a new report says california children rank in the bottom third of all us states when it comes to overall well-being. the research found the growing number of california children and teenagers are dying compared to previous years because of several factors, including parental neglect and declining health care. that same study found that more than half of california's three and four year olds are not going to school at all, despite the many preschools around the state. well, the board of barnard adopts a big budget aimed at preventing service cuts and enhancing rider safety. we have details on how the board plans to keep riders safe, and waymo is recalling its entire driverless fleet after one of the cars hit a utility pole. >> we'll tell you how the company plans to address the issue.

desk. >> all right. thank you. sal. city leaders in the south bay are now allowing homeowners to sell accessory dwelling units as separate pieces of property. a state law passed last year allows the change, and san jose is the first city to implement it. adus made up almost one third of all new housing in the city last year. there are about 400 of those backyard homes at price points that don't exist at lower cost than we can otherwise do in the market right now, and in parts of the city that are otherwise totally inaccessible. the measure could take effect by late july. >> our time is now 732. in east oakland, a new affordable housing development is open. they just cut the ribbon. the grand opening was held for ax cherry hill apartments, 94th avenue, and international boulevard, a 55 unit mixed use development. 14 of the apartments are for households that used to be homeless. the development also has community

spaces and a health clinic on the ground floor. >> one of several projects in this neighborhood, and it combines housing and community spaces and, community organizing and health services really holistically looks at the needs of a community. >> and the people in east oakland deserve to have a nice, clean, beautiful place to live. >> thank god that development was built through a public, private partnership between the city of oakland and acts community development corporation. >> bart's board of directors has voted to adopt a new $1 billion two year budget. the move is to avoid service cuts and continue investments in safety. the budget supports optimized train schedules, maintaining the maximum 20 minute wait time on weekdays until 9 p.m. bart is also pushing for improved safety and cleanliness by reducing the train lengths during off hours. the agency says it hopes to deter crime, with more police riding the trains, and they plan to do that by adding 19

of the biggest things at the fair is the food, right? it's about the experience. yes. so we have a foot long corn dog. have you ever seen one so big? i mean that'll feed you for two days probably. >> sal castaneda will eat it in ten minutes. i bet we have a rocket dog here. >> yes, i would, so it's red, white and blue themed. so that's something new. and also red, white and blue cake. as you can see, one of the themes of our fair this year is red, white and blue. because of the 4th of july. so just going great with that red, white and blue theme. we have bacon wrapped pizza on a stick, right? so it's wrapped in the dough pizza. you can select either pepperoni or sausage or what have you. >> what about these ones? what is this? >> that's a sweet dragon. so again, another corn dog. that's just your traditional dip. but it's got the sweet texture on the outside. that's something new to just get your taste buds going. >> and of course you've got super nachos pizzas. you got a couple of new flavors this year

thank you. save some for me. all right. our time is 736 with the growers of wine grapes. they're warning vineyards around california about a very destructive insect called the spotted lanternfly. now so far, live samples haven't been seen yet here in california. but the wine industry fears it's going to show up soon. masses of eggs were recently found in truckee at an agriculture inspection station. now adult lanternflies look like a red and black butterfly or moth. it was detected in the northeastern u.s. and caused major problems to vineyards in that area. lanternflies feed on trees. they're known to love grapes and they can cause a lot of damage to vineyards, so watch out. >> all right, important information. let's check in with sal. speaking of important information, i hope it's a light friday everywhere except highway 37. >> pam. and we've been talking about driving from vallejo to

novato. it really has been terrible because of this crash we had at 121 one, 1.1 of the vehicles was completely involved in flames. no serious injuries were told, but the traffic is terrible. you might want to use the richmond-san rafael bridge instead. bay bridge looks good and some of these commutes are looking very good right now. if you look at the south bay commute, it's been light. we had an earlier crash northbound 101 at 280, still a little residual slow traffic there, but things are getting better. 737 let's bring steve back with the weekend forecast. >> all right sal, we'll get to it here. it's a quiet friday. it will be a little bit warmer inland today though. but we'll go down. look back at the climate data. because on this date, if you were here in 2000, i should add santa rosa was a record setting 108. san jose was 107, and san francisco hit 103 degrees on this date. and i remember it well because i was at the giants game with my buddy

could lead to a change in california law. state assemblyman evan low introduced a measure to require automatic recounts in very close elections, though evan low edged out santa clara county supervisor joe simitian in a vote recount. after the march primary ended in a tie for second place. former san jose mayor sam liccardo came in first. well, now evan low's proposed bill would mandate a vote recount by the state in any election where the margin of victory is extremely close. >> let's get the politics, or at least the perception of the politics out of it, and have a process that all can abide by in the counting of votes that we should have the accountability

words, they've managed to get some of the cars out of the way, but the traffic is very slow in san jose. however, if you're driving on 280, you could use that 8587. those are pretty decent alternate routes. another freeway that's been really troublesome has been 37. getting out of vallejo and heading over to novato. that's because of an earlier wreck right at 121. so don't be surprised if you drive from vallejo to novato is much longer with all that slowing. 801 let's go back to the desk. >> so thank you, santa clara vta will officially begin work on adding a bart station to the south bay. at the same time, the agency is responding to a state audit on its leadership. ktvu james torres joins us live to explain plans and breakdown the audit. james andre good morning to you. >> well, a public transportation expansion has been in the works for years. it's also been delayed for years. vta leading the charge here to add six more miles of track and four more bart stations extending through san jose. and while that's well celebrated, vta is also working

through recommendations out of a state audit. state assembly member marc berman called. this ought rather called for this audit in 2022, where he questioned vta's management and oversight. the report recommended the transit agency reform its oversight, and a couple of different ways. as it stands, each board member must be an elected official, which the audit says could be a problem if those elected officials don't have any experience in transit. it also mentions the short tenure each board member serves. it's only about two years, which is shorter than other similar agencies. in general, the audit says vta is working through most of its recommendations, already has a plan to address most of them, but it did say vta rejected two proposals, one regarding those term limits and another about adding more public transparency to the board appointment process. in a release, vta leaders called the audit thorough, fair and thoughtful, but they did not address rejecting those recommendations. in a statement, assembly member berman said, quote, i do not understand why

vta would choose to protect their power to appoint and remove board members behind closed doors with no public transparency or justification, undermining the agency's accountability to residents. i do not understand why vta thinks it is better for board members to serve for shorter amounts of time, given the breadth and complexity of the services vta provides, the vta is required to check in with the state on its progress through those other recommendations. it's working on that, bart expansion. it will take a while. it's set to be completed by 2037. pam. >> all right. thank you, james. a federal lawsuit is moving forward against the san francisco police department over the 2023 dolores park hill bomb skateboarding event. now three teenagers are suing the city and the police department for the response to the chaotic event. they claim they were detained without probable cause. a judge blocked the city's attempts to dismiss a possible class action lawsuit, which means more of those teens arrested could join the suit. however, the judge

struck down the claims of free speech and racial discrimination in it is eight zero for now. >> surveillance video from sunnyvale shows the moment about 20 people broke into a jewelry store. check this out. the smashed cases with hammers and other tools. it happened at a store on el camino real. this is on wednesday afternoon. police were able to arrest these five people involved in the robbery and recover some of the jewelry, but the total value of what was stolen is still unclear. investors are searching for the other people involved and say they're trying to determine if this incident is connected to a similar robbery in sunnyvale last month, leaders of a charter school in north oakland are suing the oakland unified school district. the lawsuit, filed in alameda county superior court, was in response to the school district's decision to revoke the charter of the north oakland community charter school. the lawsuit claims the school is doing this even though the charter school is meeting the academic goals outlined in the 2019 agreement to keep the school open, oakland unified says it does not respond to

pending legal matters. >> a city task force is recommending berkeley schools consider providing financial payments to the city's black students, who are descendants of slavery. the task force presented its official report to the berkeley unified school district board this week. the panel said it's 54 page report boils down to three main suggestions. >> consider 12 possible funding sources, but we are here to recommend three. the first is solicit philanthropic corporate giving. second, initiate a lawsuit. third, propose a tax measure via initiative. >> the task force also says the reparations program could be funded by corporations and local philanthropic foundations. >> 8 to 6 now doctors, nurses and county officials in the south bay are increasingly getting worried about a plan to close regional medical center's trauma center this summer. they held what they called a lives lost rally, and during a march, they carried caskets they say

symbolizes the deadly consequences of the trauma centers closure. supervisor cindy chavez says for those who live nearby, this is a serious concern for them. >> significant traumas will all be going to one of two trauma centers, either valley medical center or stanford. they're very far away from here. they are removed, a life saving resource from our community. >> supporters of the trauma center say they have collected nearly 5000 signatures, urging state officials to step in to keep the doors open. the trauma center is scheduled to close in august. >> oakland's new police chief, floyd mitchell, outlined his first proposed budget for the department. chief mitchell provided the details of his $346 million budget plan at last night's meeting. now he says the plan will freeze staffing levels at 678 officers and that there will not be any layoffs. however, some civilian positions may be eliminated, such as crime scene technicians and evidence technicians. the chief says his priority is getting back to

a suspect is now in custody in connection with a shooting that prompted a shelter in place now. officers were called to the scene near hillsdale boulevard, just east of highway 101, shortly after 430 yesterday afternoon. police say the shooting suspect surrendered after they spotted him hiding in an apartment complex. >> officers were able to locate the suspect, who was in the apartment complex located behind me, after a plan was put in place, the suspect finally exited the apartment and was safely detained. >> the shelter in place order was then immediately lifted. police say they found the shooting victim a short time later. a few miles south in san carlos. there's no word on his condition. well the pedestrian safety group led a vigil for the victim of a deadly hit and run crash in san francisco. >> last night's memorial service was held in the city's bernal

heights neighborhood. and that is where a 41 year old man was struck and killed while crossing the street early monday morning. police are still searching for the driver now. the safety group walk sf, organized the vigil. it says the city needs to make safety improvements on mission street, near cortland avenue and other dangerous intersections in the city, lining our streets for bike and ped and people taking the bus. >> it's the best way that we're going to get to zero fatalities and really bring down the serious injuries, san francisco police want to hear from anyone who has any information. >> on monday night's hit and run . they're also hoping someone will step forward with video of that deadly crash. >> san francisco muni plans to remove the controversial bike lanes on valencia street now. last august, muni started a year long pilot program to see if center running bike lanes would improve safety in the mission district. now after getting pushback from businesses, cyclists and drivers, the city will end the experiment early and prepare to push those bike lanes back to the sides of the

that part of the country. >> i was looking for a lanternfly. i would certainly be looking inside my canopy here. this is part of a california's identity as the wine culture, and we need to do everything we can to try to protect that. >> so the lanternflies feed on trees and is known to love grapes and can cause considerable damage to vineyards. >> city leaders in the south bay are now allowing homeowners to sell those accessory dwelling units as separate pieces of property. a new state law passed last year allows the change in. san jose is the first city to implement it. adus made up almost one third of all new housing in the city last year. there were about 400 of these backyard homes, and they provide help for new homeowners at price points that don't exist at lower cost than we can otherwise do in the market right now, and in parts of the city that are otherwise totally inaccessible. the measure could take effect by late july.

>> well, in east oakland now a new affordable housing development is now open. a grand opening was held at ax cherry hill apartments. this is at 94th avenue and international boulevard. it's a 55 unit mixed use development. the development also has a community space and a health clinic on the ground floor. >> it's one of several projects in this neighborhood, and it combines housing and community spaces and a community organizing and health services really holistically. looks at the needs of a community. >> and the people in east oakland deserve to have a nice, clean, beautiful place to live. and god, can we give a round of applause? >> the development was built through a private public partnership between the city of oakland and acts community development corporation. >> bart's board of directors has voted to adopt a new $1 billion two year budget. the move is to avoid service cuts and continue investments in safety. now the budget supports optimized train schedules, maintaining that maximum 20 minute wait time on

the latest affordable, the least affordable housing in the country. economists say it's a potential setback for credit card companies such as visa and mastercard and new york judge. a new york judge says she is likely to reject their proposal to settle the long running dispute with business owners involving those swipe fees. now, credit card companies would reduce fees for three years and cap rates for five years, which would save businesses an estimated $30 billion. those swipe fees are often the second biggest operating cost after labor. the judge plans to issue an official decision in about a week. she does not think the proposal provides enough relief. costco is tapping into the electric vehicle market. it is working with general motors to offer incentives and deals for ev purchases. costco members are eligible for a $1,000 incentive if they lease or buy a new 2023 or 2024 chevrolet model ev. included in that promotion is gm's chevrolet blazer ev, and the chevrolet equinox ev.

little bit. not a lot i'm on i'm in the minority here. some it's going to be 90 degrees. i don't know about that. i went 80, so napa san ramon, menlo park. campbell. listen north wind kicks in, but so far i don't see that yet. it's mainly been westerly or southwest, so we'll go low 80s for these. now if you're far enough inland there will be some mid maybe a few upper 80s but 50s on the temps, although again up in lake county, mendocino county, it's just this time of year. it's just no problem warming up. but vacaville is only 63, so i mean, if they were going to be hot, they'd be 73 by now. we are running a little bit cooler on the temps, although san carlos is up by four, but most are down 1 to 4 with santa rosa at minus four compared to yesterday. at this time, today and tomorrow looks similar. system coming in there. you can see we'll probably enhance the fog bank a little bit tomorrow. the key though is going to be sunday, monday, tuesday we'll get a little bit warmer. friday not that much but we're dropping in now. it depends on where it ends up. i mean there are some projections that actually drop it in a little bit deeper than this due to kind of do this

abuse awareness day. groups including the world health organization, created this day to raise awareness about the abuse, neglect and exploitation of seniors. 1 in 10 americans aged 60 or older have experienced some form of elder abuse. warning signs include bruises, pressure marks, broken bones or burns. as many as 5 million american seniors are abused, and oftentimes it's by a family member. now, state and bay area officials will hold a news conference in san francisco today to tackle elder abuse. speakers include california attorney general rob bonta, san francisco mayor london breed police chief bill scott, and an attorney representing victims of a $39 million scheme targeting seniors in chinatown. >> a fundraising event in san jose is raising money for survivors of gender based violence. the annual walk a mile in their shoes took place at santana row. it's a lighthearted event with a serious message. participants marched down the street with their families, many in high heels, to raise money for services and programs for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.
