with this virtual roll call it looks to be slave between august 1st and seventh, you think the party will be coalesced on a solution at that point. should they delay this? >> that should happen at the convention, i been publicly clear about that because the party needs and space to have this debate at all think it's a sign of weakness. parties are meant to have vigourous conversations about who best can win an election unlike the republican party which right now is a mosh pit on a human hand grenade. the call unity and i call it an impending disaster because they will underperforming he will try to still the election again and they are going to not meet this. >> do think it's wrong for republicans? when you talk with the swing states and underperforming, do you not think there will be a victory for president trump if the ticket remains as it is on the democrat side with appealing you have now? >> predicting politics not a very fruitful affair for months you both -- you and i both know how pretty much can change

have the honour that subpoena or shall pay the price. the american people have lots of questions and they deserve answers in this hearing tomorrow will serve as the beginning of that process to get answers for the american people as to what went wrong with an agency that has a no fail mission. >> so last week when we were still on the air saturday night reporting on this as it was all in folding. there is one particular the federalist says they had sources telling them the trump group asked for more assets and resources and they were denied or unanswered. the next day we got this from the secret service of those an untrue assertion that a member the form president team asked for additional secure the resources and this is absolutely false. they going to say they added protective resources and technology and capabilities but then overnight from the washington post we get this talking with agents who were protecting the president saying they asked for more magnetometers and sometimes they

were denied. so where does the truth lie? >> we will find out tomorrow with the director but it's my understanding that the trump campaign did ask for more resources and it's my understanding that the secret service denied those resources. days after the assassination attempt a spokesperson for the secret service denied that trump report the record -- request a more resources within the story it was confirmed that, in fact, the trump campaign did ask for more. the secret service has a budget of 3.1 billion dollars. they have thousands of employees. there aren't that many people that require secret service protection and not that many events that the secret service have to secure it to budget is more than enough to provide adequate protection for the

presidential candidates. we have a lot of questions and how they are managing their money but if you look at the history of the house oversight committee dating back to when he was chairman of this committee, there has been lots of investigations of the secret service lots of reports issued that they lack proper training and they did not efficiently spend their funds. so our question for the director is are you confident -- competent to run the secret service. we want to know who is at fault for what happens. every american tell that there shouldn't be allowed to have anywhere on that roof and that there is a video showing people were trying to notify the authorities that there is a person on the roof with a gun and nothing was done about it and then shooter was allowed to get that many shots off at president trump? that's unacceptable. we think not only do we need answers, what people need to be held accountable.

left with the director will have to answer tomorrow. she will have hundreds of question she has to answer and the american people -- people will be watching this. >> there's multiple committees. one with helen security. they have subpoenaed this secretary americas because they say he's declined to show up and they are asking for documents and other information, is the house prepared to take action if he defies that subpoena? >> i hope so we've already impeached him in the house and senate and then they just turned a blind eye to the debacle at the southend border. if you look at all the agencies under the homeland security banner, the secret service, border patrol. clearly not up to the job. they have been a disaster for the american people. you name the agency there is 19 agencies under homeland security. that they were created after september 11th.

you made a bunch of bureaucracies even more. craddock then you know someone like i have some real confidence in. i think the republican conference is already expressing our confidence level by the fact that we have already impeached him. is not surprising that when the assassination happens, our community -- community it communicated quickly but then the homeland security stepped in and try to cut off the communication. homeland security tried to block cheadle from coming to testify their committee when charity agreed to testify and that's my issue the subpoena. now she has to come but we should have to issue a subpoena. the director should want to be transparent with the american people. this award the darkest days in the history of america. this was a huge debacle. and yet, the american people, one week later, we have no answers to the many questions we have. this is been a public relations

whistleblowers they are coming forward and i think they are the source of a lot of the press stories that have come out. look, the morale at the secret service has always been low but it has gotten lower. we'll talk with that in the hearing with a lot of specific questions why weren't drones used? there is reports at the shooter had a drone just a few hours before the event scoping it out. there is reports that there were secret service in the building where this sniper -- where the shooter was on the roof, they didn't go on the roof because it was too hot. we have lots of questions and look, this director has done nothing over the past seven days to assure the american people that she is able to lead the secret service and that the problems have been resolved. i think we have an agency in peril here. the american people are restless weather republican or democrat, every american's outrage that we have a secret service with a

budget of $3.1 billion with thousands of employees that failed to identify this threat to president trump. county other threats are out there and will this trigger more events where they are copycat shooters and people like that? we have to instill confidence in the american people that we have a secret service that's up to the job and wright now i don't think we have that! >> well, will be watching, everyone will. their scores and scores are good people that work in secret service risking their lives every day and you need answers from leadership so we will watch. chairman, thank you. >> thank you. >> mid speculation that there could soon be big changes to the take it, how would a trump band campaign to pivot to that. we'll bring in our panel to discuss that and how it could force a change in strategy next. ♪
