pelosi apparently has shared privately with president biden she's very worried about what will happen in the house that you all may lose the opportunity to flip it so do you think if present by the state of the top of the ticket how worried are you about that? >> i'm concerned right now. if it was held today democrats i think it be in trouble or no empirical way to say otherwise but the election is four months from now and we don't have just very strong candidates at the house and the senate level, we also have strong surrogates. we have kamala harris you can prosecute a case which is good because trumps a convicted felon, we have others who can talk what's in for structure in the economy weave a successful governor that's nalley the strategy to out -- outcompete china and jade events... >> shannon: i know your full throated support for democrats and the issues you have with president trump and vance what i want to know who ends up on your ticket. you mentioned a lot of different names. it seems they're moving forward

with this virtual roll call it looks to be slave between august 1st and seventh, you think the party will be coalesced on a solution at that point. should they delay this? >> that should happen at the convention, i been publicly clear about that because the party needs and space to have this debate at all think it's a sign of weakness. parties are meant to have vigourous conversations about who best can win an election unlike the republican party which right now is a mosh pit on a human hand grenade. the call unity and i call it an impending disaster because they will underperforming he will try to still the election again and they are going to not meet this. >> do think it's wrong for republicans? when you talk with the swing states and underperforming, do you not think there will be a victory for president trump if the ticket remains as it is on the democrat side with appealing you have now? >> predicting politics not a very fruitful affair for months you both -- you and i both know how pretty much can change

between now and then. if election were held today we would be in trouble but the election are held in november and we will have a big opportunity after labor day to talk to the american people about trumps record as a lawless chaos agent and about vance's record because he's under known as someone who voted against exceptions for rape and incest for abortion as someone who does not want safe and legal in vitro fertilization for women transferred to family and calls will without children miserable, ladies is not a guy that will architect the country. >> and he would take objection with all that include the ibf position when she says he's in support of access to that. >> his record does not support that and then just goes back to the fact you can trust him he will do its best for him as he didn't weigh 16. >> but who will be making this argument against trump and vance? do you think it president biden steps off the ticket its a natural progression of vice president harris would take up the mantle or do you believe it is your colleague says there

of an interactive conversation but i understand she's busy and she just phase $2 million just yesterday. i think the call was marketed as more of a news breaker that she would give us things she had yet set on the campaign trail. >> because you've done so pretty much fundraising success when you say its gotten really difficult they reported this yesterday david letterman will headline a fundraiser with president biden in ten days with the hawaii governor josh green a sign that they are forging ahead except -- you with the calls from the bow of the race. there is at least another fundraising events over the last ten days of july. 's people show up and will they give? are you surprised by this news? >> no but i'm also privy to the counter so i saw was coming but let me just tell you from personal experience. amihere to gasset anybody you deserve the truth and i would lose my credibility if i withheld it from you. fundraising has big money. major donors who have pledged

massive amounts and i'm talking six or seven figure checks they have subtly disappeared and fallen off the face of the earth because a lot of these people are successful business people and they see this as a proposition and they'd only been on a campaign if it's a winning prospect. i wish i had better news but i'm also not here to give you talking points is just the truth. issues excruciatingly difficult for me to say this at all. >> no your supported president biden, you want the people that when we said we had a really hard time trying to book anyone to come defend him you reached out because you want to do that for him. a one asking about this question, congresswoman did a live event on social media the other night and she said if you think there is consensus among people who want joe biden to leave they will support kamala harris the vice president you'd be mistaken and she says a lot of people who want president biden off the ticket want the entire ticket wiped out. are democrats risking something

completely unknown if they do support efforts for president biden to step down? >> speaking to a point of thing speak skipping over a harris to be malpractice end of story. the base, our base, black america particular, that's what we do for a trumpet all. and we owe our base the respect that they deserve to have a qualified vice president out there every single day ferociously fighting for reproductive rights which would be even more imperil under a second trump turn. it would be at catastrophic mistake to skip over her. >> interesting that we are reporting from nbc yesterday. on social media for one of the correspondence and the former secretary of state hillary clinton have been supportive of president biden's decision to stay in the race and they've been actively encouraging donors to stay with him. that's going to people close to the clintons is that surprise you would all knowing what you know about the fundraising situation?

>> then they added as an addendum. there were differential not to him in particular but to the process. i think they are kind of adopting the pelosi line of we just have to give the president time to make a decision. again, so i think everyone realizes, or one sees the polling data, i'm from pennsylvania and i see this firsthand every single day blue wall is crumbling unfortunately. this is a break in -- glass in case of emergency moments. >> what happens with his virtual role call that they say will probably start august 1st, will you do as a delegate, -- could groups of delegates go broke? >> i think there is group chats already. [ laughter ] there's a lot of group chats around people plotting and anxious. i think it would be another catastrophic mistake to have it on august 1st. the congressman said should be at the convention because politics perception is reality and we ought to do everything we possibly can to make it as

that's not true. is a federal investigators dig through crooks encrypted social media accounts with servers based overseas. a federal law enforcement source says a local sniper team was positioned inside the building crooks fired from. but now there is conflicting reported saying this sniper team was actually in a nearby building. they hope to get some transparency at upcoming hearings. we know bob making materials found inside crooks home are now at the fbi's lab in quantico. back to you. >> thank you very much. joining us now kentucky congressmen and house oversight committee chair congressmen welcome, we know yours is the first hearing with the investigation starting tomorrow do you have assurances the secret services director will be there? >> she told us yesterday she would be there. we fully expect her to be there. i subpoenaed her so she will

have the honour that subpoena or shall pay the price. the american people have lots of questions and they deserve answers in this hearing tomorrow will serve as the beginning of that process to get answers for the american people as to what went wrong with an agency that has a no fail mission. >> so last week when we were still on the air saturday night reporting on this as it was all in folding. there is one particular the federalist says they had sources telling them the trump group asked for more assets and resources and they were denied or unanswered. the next day we got this from the secret service of those an untrue assertion that a member the form president team asked for additional secure the resources and this is absolutely false. they going to say they added protective resources and technology and capabilities but then overnight from the washington post we get this talking with agents who were protecting the president saying they asked for more magnetometers and sometimes they

were denied. so where does the truth lie? >> we will find out tomorrow with the director but it's my understanding that the trump campaign did ask for more resources and it's my understanding that the secret service denied those resources. days after the assassination attempt a spokesperson for the secret service denied that trump report the record -- request a more resources within the story it was confirmed that, in fact, the trump campaign did ask for more. the secret service has a budget of 3.1 billion dollars. they have thousands of employees. there aren't that many people that require secret service protection and not that many events that the secret service have to secure it to budget is more than enough to provide adequate protection for the

presidential candidates. we have a lot of questions and how they are managing their money but if you look at the history of the house oversight committee dating back to when he was chairman of this committee, there has been lots of investigations of the secret service lots of reports issued that they lack proper training and they did not efficiently spend their funds. so our question for the director is are you confident -- competent to run the secret service. we want to know who is at fault for what happens. every american tell that there shouldn't be allowed to have anywhere on that roof and that there is a video showing people were trying to notify the authorities that there is a person on the roof with a gun and nothing was done about it and then shooter was allowed to get that many shots off at president trump? that's unacceptable. we think not only do we need answers, what people need to be held accountable.

left with the director will have to answer tomorrow. she will have hundreds of question she has to answer and the american people -- people will be watching this. >> there's multiple committees. one with helen security. they have subpoenaed this secretary americas because they say he's declined to show up and they are asking for documents and other information, is the house prepared to take action if he defies that subpoena? >> i hope so we've already impeached him in the house and senate and then they just turned a blind eye to the debacle at the southend border. if you look at all the agencies under the homeland security banner, the secret service, border patrol. clearly not up to the job. they have been a disaster for the american people. you name the agency there is 19 agencies under homeland security. that they were created after september 11th.

you made a bunch of bureaucracies even more. craddock then you know someone like i have some real confidence in. i think the republican conference is already expressing our confidence level by the fact that we have already impeached him. is not surprising that when the assassination happens, our community -- community it communicated quickly but then the homeland security stepped in and try to cut off the communication. homeland security tried to block cheadle from coming to testify their committee when charity agreed to testify and that's my issue the subpoena. now she has to come but we should have to issue a subpoena. the director should want to be transparent with the american people. this award the darkest days in the history of america. this was a huge debacle. and yet, the american people, one week later, we have no answers to the many questions we have. this is been a public relations

disaster for the secret service. tomorrow hopefully we will begin to get answers but not only do we need answers not only do we need to hold on accountable, we need to make sure this problem is fixed and that we have president biden and president trump, their fellow members, that they are protected throughout this campaign and into the next term! >> on ascii but whistleblowers because it something senator josh holly public on the other side of the hill has brought up, he has a lot of questions and he's asked them to answer these as well they say the detection canines were not used to monitor entry into tech threats in the usual manner according to the whistleblowers. individuals without proper designations are able to gain access to backstage areas and department personnel did not properly police this kitty buffer on the podium and they were also not stationed at regular intervals around the event security perimeter. what can congress do to protect people who might still want to come for but are very fearful? >> we have heard from a lot of

whistleblowers they are coming forward and i think they are the source of a lot of the press stories that have come out. look, the morale at the secret service has always been low but it has gotten lower. we'll talk with that in the hearing with a lot of specific questions why weren't drones used? there is reports at the shooter had a drone just a few hours before the event scoping it out. there is reports that there were secret service in the building where this sniper -- where the shooter was on the roof, they didn't go on the roof because it was too hot. we have lots of questions and look, this director has done nothing over the past seven days to assure the american people that she is able to lead the secret service and that the problems have been resolved. i think we have an agency in peril here. the american people are restless weather republican or democrat, every american's outrage that we have a secret service with a

budget of $3.1 billion with thousands of employees that failed to identify this threat to president trump. county other threats are out there and will this trigger more events where they are copycat shooters and people like that? we have to instill confidence in the american people that we have a secret service that's up to the job and wright now i don't think we have that! >> well, will be watching, everyone will. their scores and scores are good people that work in secret service risking their lives every day and you need answers from leadership so we will watch. chairman, thank you. >> thank you. >> mid speculation that there could soon be big changes to the take it, how would a trump band campaign to pivot to that. we'll bring in our panel to discuss that and how it could force a change in strategy next. ♪

[ laughter ] >> surprise! >> i think we have been doing this for a long time in the polls for joe biden keep getting worse. i think two things are true. number when he is done again, that's very clear. and number 2, i think it's not sustainable. right? polls are not perfect with this amount of data does not lie. we have a new poll out from michigan sin that binds don't even further. we know there is a lot of voters who don't want to vote for donald trump. we see this poll after poll after poll. joe biden was to step down from the ticket there is a process for this. some of us will be at the d&c, there is a process to do this, we know a lot of voters want to vote for a democrat and they don't want to vote for trump and they are nervous about biden but they would vote for kemal harris -- kamala harris and as a democrat is in ms. city -- messy and it has been a difficult few weeks think the writing is on the wall when you new candidate because that's what voters want and there's a process and you know, we will get there at some point i think.

>> has he talked to the congressmen so getting a new candidate or a new president at this point because they say biden is unable to continue his presidential duties and attempt to undermine him by the party leadership and if he's able to continue other democrats amount to nothing less than a coup attempt. either they are saying he's well enough to stay in this now and govern now or are they are undermining all the millions of voters who voted for him in the primary. >> all the people they just named have zero votes in the primaries. chubai go for 2 million votes 57 primaries and caucuses the author 900 delegates. if you are saying democracy is on the ballot how do you install somebody at this so the general secretary elected by them. and the problem they have is also that kahla -- kamala harris is less popular than joe biden. and she doesn't do any better than him in the polls so why would you push joe biden aside for kamala harris he doesn't do any better and then if it's not going to be kamala harris because i think a few months ago every democrat was terrified of the idea call ahead as being

president and someone else coming and why would anyone challenge her? donald trump, if he wins a be a one term president. each had the wait four years in 2028 it's an open seed. if you are rising star the democratic party why wage you become the captain of the titanic just before his an iceberg that on top of that why would you try and knock the first black woman nominee of a major party off their take it in there and the amity of clyde byrne and the congressional black caucus for the rest of your career. there is no incentive for anybody to try and take out kamala harris. >> shannon: interesting pieces written by the former harris campaign staffer saying she shouldn't be correlated. as determined -- terminology. a coronation would be a grave mistake. these are toast and harris who alternately dropped up before the iowa caucus failed hers. i know you have a piece out on this. what does the party do with the vice president? >> as we rode in usa today the reason why supporters and those believe this should be the most logical person to replace joe

biden on the ticket if this were to happen is the polling does show she could be for present -- beat former president donald trump that could get the warchest but there there would be legal challenges to that by the way. as well as progressives down the valley even in the polling right now it doesn't show she would do better. that would show that what beta is a shock to the system. that would potentially help her and as far as democrats would rally around her or not in terms of the logical choice is to keep her from being a massey open convention and the democrats who helped oversee this process being involved at the convention. they say this would be the choice that would make this easier. >> then the question becomes if she does rise to the top of the ticket what would that do for the campaign. they were putting on this issue they say liam donovan who is the former or sca. mean the front runner against
