good morning to you all. here is the week that was. >> my fear is that it will give officers or deputies the ability to have more authority than what they actually do. >> trumps attorneys have been unable to secure the $464 million bond that is due next week. >> we have a lot of cash and we have a lot of great companies. >> the council voted against a u..s-led resolution calling for a cease-fire. >> los angeles fired the

toys? we have the answer and more, coming up. on capitol hill, crisis averted again. with some last-minute negotiating, the senate passed a one $.2 trillion funding bill. sending it to president biden to sign into law. this is the sixth time that congress has nearly averted the government shutdown this year alone. you and i know it would not be the 118th congress without an extra bit of drama. in the house, the bill passed with less than half of the support of republicans. with marjorie taylor green filing the 11th hour bill. joining live, from capitol hill,

julie, good afternoon. what exactly did they get past? what is next? >> what is next is good news for our viewers. until october, we don't have to talk about the threat of a government shutdown again. we had to talk about is six times just this fiscal year alone. this bill fends off 70% of the government like homeland security which was a sticking point to other agencies like labor, education and a really complete the funding process for 2024. they will move on to try and strike an agreement for 2025 which they should have been doing months ago. because of the party bickering, it could not be done in time. just five months he has already been threatened to be kicked out of the top job of speaker for the same reasons that kevin mccarthy, the house speaker was

kicked out back in the fall. marjorie taylor green filing this motion without a timeline. meaning that there is no requirement for the house to act. it is a warning over johnson. they left town without any foreign aid funding to ukraine but also to israel, gaza and taiwan. johnson is working through the next two weeks to try and come up with a package of his own. if he is being threatened to be kicked out and he needs democrats to save him. they will use it as leverage. as his majority is shrinking. with the republican congressman saying that he is leaving early. a lot at stake here for johnson. we are getting closer to the campaign season. he wants to put the messaging on the floor instead of deal with all of this. >> thank you always for your

hard work and for logging those long hours in d.c. thank you so much for getting started today. joining the onset here in l.a., is robert garcia. we have so much to get through. before we get into these bending bill, what happened in russia yesterday, it is important for us to talk about it. 133 people were killed with operations still underway and 11 people are in custody with isis claiming responsibility. it's important to note that no americans were hurt or killed during this attack yesterday. it highlights what is going on in russia. under putin, why usaid is important here. >> our hearts really go to the public here. families have been devastated. the truth is that the situation in russia is very dire.
9:07 am
putin has complete control. he manufactured another election and we need to ensure that we support what is happening in ukraine. and all of our allies along eastern europe. he continues to cause damage to his own people and continues to attack ukraine in a way that the entire world and the republican party here in this country should be terrified about. he is an authoritarian dictator and you must be stopped. >> we heard that speaker johnson might be trying to create a package of his own which will be powerful enough to get past. you are there in d.c. in the halls of congress and you are seeing what ue dynamics are. what are the odds of mike johnson being able to pull that off? >> he is completely ineffective. the republican party is full of chaos and dysfunction every single day. he will have a one seat majority. the fact he has not put forward a bill to support ukraine is
9:08 am
outrageous. they are bowing down to to putin and whatever donald trump wants them to do which is not support ukraine. they should be embarrassed. we must get the ukraine bill on the floor. our leadership will try and negotiate to make that happen. we need the ukraine bill on the floor now. we all see what is happening now in ukraine. the republican party has lost their minds. the motion to vacate his chaos and ukraine needs our support. >> let's talk about that for just a moment. i am not begrudging you for taking a vacation and taking a recess. with a two-week recess, at least we got the spending bill that was passed that president biden will sign. it takes so much effort. the guy has to roll the boulder up the hill and then he has to roll it back down. you're tried to do this six times. you have a bill in place. it does not include necessary

fund the government. republicans want to put in jeopardy millions of jobs, 80% of the federal workforce lives outside of d.c. jobs where people need healthcare, childcare, it is outrageous. they are putting people's livelihoods at risk because of politics because they want to attack women, gay people. >> that is a necessary thing as you said. what happens if a motion to vacate is actually heard and mike john and bait is up in the air, do democrats like you come forward and help him keep his job? >> i will be one of those. there are some democrats that might choose to do that. there is no scenario i will vote to keep a speaker who attacks women and the lgbtq community who is a nationalist and is one of the most far right speakers that has ever occupied that's position in office. he will not get my vote.
9:11 am
there is the exchange of other goals and negotiation around foreign aid and that could be something that some would be interested in. >> i do have to ask, i know i don't have it here, i cannot give a lock on the vote in the house. i will kick everything over to the doj. i will kick it over to the doj. what are your thoughts about that? >> i sit on the oversight committee. what it joked. there witnesses have included people that have been in prison. folks that are being investigated. russian spies. it is insane. this is based on these random conspiracy theories. the impeachment process is over, we need to move on and we need to get back to work. it is a complete embarrassment. the important thing for folks

short on cash and on time. the disgraced president who was found liable for sexual abuse has only 48 hours to post the bond from keeping the attorney general for being to collect while he appeals. trump is spouting that he has $500 million in cash, his lawyers are telling a different story in the oort filing earlier this week saying that they have been unsuccessful in their efforts to obtain the bond. trump did get some good news when investors approved the plan to take his social media company public. that stock is tied up for at least six months. will it be too little too late? joining me is renee, a partner
9:17 am
at -- renee, it is so good to see you. let's talk about the last thing that we talked about, the merger that went there on friday. the potential for trump to net billions of dollars had a lot of people chatting because they think that will help him win his bond which is due on monday. let's talk about the logistics of why the stake in this new company will not be able to help him in his case? >> thank you, katie. i am so happy to be here. as you said, the stockholders of the company approved the merger to go forward. it can close as soon as next week. the problem is that the shares are subject to a lockup which prevents him for selling those shares for at least six months. it's possible that the board of directors could decide to modify that agreement. that creates serious challenges for them. with this being a delaware company where controlling
9:18 am
stockholder transactions are scrutinized. it would be very likely to lead to litigation for the board to do that. the other problems with trying to use the shares to help with his situation in the new york judgment enforcement efforts, is that this is another amc situation. the fundamentals of these companies are $3 million in revenues. they are forecasting losses into the future and it will have a market cap in the billions of dollars. i'm not sure they would find it is not an appropriate source of collateral for a bond. some private lender might feel differently. >> renee, this deadline is right around the corner. the appeals court could issue or grant aid discretionary stay if trump cannot come up with
9:19 am
the bond to stop execution on that judgment. what are the chances of that happening? considering the filings that have gone back and forth. what do you think that compromise my look like? less of a bond that he would have to post? >> let's be clear about one thing, he does not need this bond to appeal the judgment. he needs to stay enforcement of the judgment pending the appeal. if you cannot post the bond, the only way he can stay the enforcement is to get a discretionary stay. in order to do that, he has to be able to convince the court that he has an appeal but also that he would be irreparably harmed if it is not granted. irreparable harm is a legal term. the definition means that the harm cannot be remedied by money damages. if the stay is not granted, he will have to sell his

properties in a fire sale. the loss of investment work congressional properties is not considered irreparable harm. it's different if these are your home or these are unique in some way, if it is an investment, it can be fixed by money damages. my view is not that he has a high chance of success, anything is possible. the court might cut him a break. >> assuming that trump does not get that bond and does not get the discretionary state, let's talk about the options. we know that she went to westchester county to record the judgment there. trump has assets there. is she able to do that across the united states? where the defendant's assets are currently located? >> new york is a very creditor
9:21 am
friendly state. the law has a lot of options for creditors to enforce their judgments. even before we get to his properties, she can easily freeze his bank accounts and all she has to do is serve notices to the banks where he holds accounts and then have the sheriff execute on those accounts or getting a turnover proceeding to turn over the assets in those accounts. speaking of turnover proceedings, she can do that for any asset that trump owns, no matter where it is located across the country or across the world. that includes stock that he owns, intellectual property, cars, planes, jewelry, personal property. she can seek an order directing that trump turnover those assets to her and then the assets can be auctioned. >> let's briefly talk about the independent court monitor that has been on this case for a few
9:22 am
years now. entering a beefed-up order allowing her to actually have more control over the finances of these defendants like trump. what does it say to you that there was a provision added that she had to be notified of any applications were done by any trump organization. >> one of the interesting points that the attorney general made in her response to trump's application was that the organization moved $40 million out of the company without telling the independent monitor. it signals a concern by the court that those types of antics could keep happening. >> thanks for being here and thank you for getting us educated, we are all excited to see what happens on monday in

we are back with trumps nonstop carousel ride of legal drama as he edges closer to being the first united states president to face a criminal trial. joining me is henry littman, the host of the amazing talking feds podcast. harry, good to see you. let's start with what will happen on monday. a hearing in new york in front of a judge over a discovery dispute. there is a very decent filing that came out of the d.a.s office on friday with a delay
9:28 am
turning over documents to trump and his defense team. what are your thoughts on what will go down on monday? >> it is a little tricky because we need a two day hearing and that is bewildering. the issue here ought to be the filing that makes it clear that the d.a. had nothing to do with this production. that just serves up how much time does trump need? they have already given him 30 days, does he need more? it's a lot of paper. it only comes down to a couple hundred pages of things that might help him get ready for michael cohen's testimony. i should not be so long. why a two day hearing? were not really sure. it might be that he is interested in figuring out what happened exactly and why did it take a while? they might put out evidence, i
9:29 am
can't see why he would do that now. i think the issue really has been clarified. it is how much time trump needs. my best guess is that he starts down this road but has a whole -- that is what is scheduled. we will know by monday if he really has a two day inquiry that he wants to undertake. >> right now, the judge gave 30 days from march 15th. if the judge does not find any wrongdoing on behalf of the prosecution, will he stick with that april 15th trial date? will you try and give trump more time given the sheer amount of turnover and whether or not it was on the part of the d.a.s office? >> look, he will probably stick with it. that will be the issue.
9:30 am
he will ask for 90 days and the dismissal too for reasons that don't really stand out. he has run a pretty tight courtroom. i'm blitzed through all of the pretrial motions. there is a big number that were turned over late. now it is a big number that trump has to take account of for his defense. this is a 30 day proposition. >> harry, let's go down to florida. the classified documents case is part of my beef as well. you and me both have been posting on social media for days. she just entered a good section for order just the other day, just a couple of days ago agreeing with special counsel jack smith that certain categories of documents should not be turned over. the thing that i don't understand is why has she not address the fact that both
9:31 am
sides say that they can go to trial in august. >> right, it has been served up to her why should they be. she has had pending now for about a month, a discovery for the motion for reconsideration. i think that warder was also competent. everything she does harms the doj. she is very focused on not giving them an opportunity for it to come up to the 11th circuit. she said rather than actually engaging on the merits of the law, could you pretend that the argument that donald trump is making is solid and framed jury instructions. what? because it is asking them to assume that the pra argument is not solid. my biggest concern now is that
9:32 am
this is the second time that she has suggested that maybe she would make a ruling during a trial. after it can started, it trump cannot be re-tried and it cannot be reversed by the 11th circuit. it is odd that rather than ruling she has set up this academic discussion that does not make sense for starters. >> we have less than a minute. she has yet to rule on that motion that was filed by the defense that would allow the disclosure of names of witnesses and other very important critical information that should be protected. do you think if she denies or grants that motion for jack smith to protect the identity of important coincidences is not grounds to appeal that type
9:33 am
of decision to the 11th circuit? >> yes. trump told her that this is the standard, it's a pretty easy standard to meet, he was wrong under the binding 11 circuit law. she is trying to figure a way out. if she goes his way, it will be the cleanest from the very beginning, the opportunity for jack smith to couple the appeal with a motion to recuse her from the case. >> let's be clear, the motion to compel has been sitting on her desk now. unbelievable. good to see you. coming up next, attacking access. when it comes to the abortion pill. it can affect 40 million women. after a quick break.
