war. four soldiers are reunited with their families after being rescued live in gaza by the israeli defense forces. all four were transported to a hospital near tel aviv. there is good medical condition according to phylicia. they were kidnapped from the musical during the attack on october 7th. that includes noa argamani. seen in this disturbing video being kidnapped and driven away on a motorcycle. it was an emotional reunion and her loved ones. including her father who is she is seen hiking in this video. and earlier president biden reacted to the news during his trip to paris, france. >> before i

>> joining me from tel aviv is sanchez. and what more do we know about how and where this rescue operation was executed? >> so, jonathan that this rescue operation took place in broad daylight at 11:00 a.m. in central gaza. these three military says that was based on weeks of intelligence. they simultaneously stormed two apartments and buildings around 200 yards away from each other. one of those apartments they found noa argamani on her own. and in the other, the three males that were also kidnapped from the october 7th music festival.

when the special forces had the hostages in their arms they gave the agreed-upon codeword over the radio. they say we have the diamonds. we have the diamonds. and they got the hostages out. in armored vehicles. and noa argamani was flown back into israel by a helicopter on a beach in northern gaza. she was taken to a hospital in the greater tel aviv area. i have to tell you. i met her father. i met her father on october 8th. the worst man of his life. his life crumbling, and his own daughter kidnapped by hamas. i saw him exactly 8 months later. you can only imagine the joy just exhume rating out of this man. you have his child back. we also have a chance to speak to the friends of noa argamani. i want you to listen to how she is doing. how are you feeling? >> amazing. >> reporter: how is she?

>> she is amazing. she is strong. she is laughing, smiling and it is amazing. >> reporter: what was the first thing you said it to her? >> a big hug and i'm so glad that she is here. >> reporter: now at this moment of joy for noa argamani and her family is also tinged with this sadness. noa argamani her mother is dying of brain cancer. it has been her final wish to see her daughter once again. and tonight, that final wish was fulfilled. and the boyfriend of noa argamani was also kidnapped on october 7th. he is still inside gaza the 120 hostages still being held. jonathan i should tell you. while there are celebrations in tonight. there is absolutely searing grief inside of gaza. the health the industry says at least 210 people were killed by israeli forces during this rate. many of them were women and children.

developments in the 2024 presidential election. ever since the guilty verdict of former president donald trump, he is vowing revenge in more sinister and dangerous ways. and this week the presumptive republican nominee told us exactly what he plans are to do if he gets back in the white house. >> i think that you have so much to do. you do not have time. you only have time to get right. >> revenge will take time. i will say that. sometimes revenge can be justified. >> reporter: in your first term you did not jiggle any of your opponents. but after your conviction last week has your approach changed? >> it is different now. and i will talk to you in three years. >> it would be terrible to throw the presidents wife in the former secretary of state. think of it. the former secretary. the presidents wife into jail.

to be prisoner steve bannon. he is urging the prosecution of democrats to tell the new york times. there are dozens of ambitious state attorneys and attorneys who need to seize the day and own this moment in history. and steve bannon is not the only one calling for revenge. >> i am talking aboutfor tat. you just wait. it will not be hunter biden. the next time. it is going to be joe biden. it could potentially still be barack obama. it is still potentially be hillary clinton. >> you have to get in the game, republicans. is every house committee controlled by republicans using it subpoena power?

right now, if every republican da starting the investigation right now. >> we need some brave district attorneys in the united states to step forward. and to take aggressive action. >> incredible. but you notice there is no mention of actual crimes committed. all the enemies to be targeted in a tidal wave of vengeance and retribution. as the "the new york times" notes the intensity of anger and open desire for using the criminal justice system against democrats after the verdict surpasses anything seen before in mr. trump's tumultuous years in politics. what is different now is the range of republicans who are saying retaliation is necessary and you are no longer poking their intent with euphemisms. this is why. for the sake of our democracy we need to take up all of what you just heard. the snarling threats of revenge and the actions to comment very seriously. joining me now olivia troy former top aide to mike pence.

and the ms nbc legal affairs analyst and former the director of public affairs at the justice department. and former senior advisor to attorney general garland. thank you both for coming to this saturday show. i would love to get both of your reactions to trump. and suggesting that he is going to jail his opponents. >> look i think donald truck - donald trump projects and we should take it seriously. it will not stop at just the political opponents. when he says that he needs anyone that is ever crossed him. whether it is a political party or with people like you would. or people like me that have been outspoken critics. and there will be no justification for it. exactly what you said at the opening. what is the crime? what are you trying to investigate? it doesn't matter to trump. he will bend the rules and put enablers in place who are going

to go along with it. >> before you give your reaction to what you just said olivia. what is scary to me. yes. he is saying this stuff and he will do this stuff. my fear is that i am not sure that the american people were wise up to try to stop him. >> right. it is on us. what you just said about putting enablers in place is key. donald trump has learned one fundamental truth. people are policy. what we have seen here in washington, d.c. and leadership. they hire people and surround themselves with people who both share their vision and their values. thankfully, in his first term we had enough conservative republicans around him. he resisted his very worst things. . people that put their oath to the constitution like olivia. ahead of their loyalty. they are not going to be those people in the second term. he will surround himself with yes men.

and in the congress. just imagine if donald trump is president. he is more likely to have a republican majority in the congress. they will not do legitimate oversight. they will do rubberstamps. we cannot look to the to the judiciary to save us. he is overly talked about who is different lately classifying these documents. and how we need more judges like her. and it jonathan. i think the viewers have to understand. he has already appointed three justices. he might appoint one or two. so five of the nine justices of the u.s. supreme court could be donald trump appointees. that will send a shiver down anybody's spine that loves our country and constitution. >> i'm trying to remember who it was. it was dan pfeiffer during a podcast interview where he made this exact point. if donald trump gets reelected, you could see thomas and one other justice. justice alito. and he would get at least two

more. let's talk about speaker johnson. speaker johnson among the things he wants to do. he wants to theoretically allow trump to levy charges to federal court with the option to issue a self pardon if convicted. olivia, that would totally up and the rule of law in this country. >> yes. and it is shameful to me. somebody that supported the republican party. the party that used to stand for freedom, liberty. the rule of law. those were the champing tenants. we have flipped the script on it. that is a very serious thing. and they are just openly discussing it. yes this is our plan. and you are right. they are all on board.

it does not matter that this person created a crime. there was an entire process that happened. a jury of peers that decided on a conviction. these are cases in jonah where there are republicans who are justified and involved in this process. they saw the whole tradition happened firsthand. this is disturbing on so many levels. this is the speaker of the house. he knows better. and not for one second should anybody believe that they do not understand what they are doing. because they are intelligent and they know exactly calculating what the plan is. >> what bothers me is the sense that these prosecutions are deserved. right. like this is a product of the station of the u.s.

hunter biden's naomi could be taking the first and only family to testify in his

defense. hunter biden is charged with three felony counts for allegedly lying about his drug use during a gun purchase. he pleaded not guilty. his daughter testified that she did not see him using drugs. earlier in the week, the sister- in-law and another former girlfriend appeared as witnesses for the prosecution under immunity agreements. they joined his ex-wife and testifying at length about his addiction to crack cocaine. the struggle to stay sober. the defense team is deciding whether to call hunter himself to the stan on monday. in an interview, president biden said that he will accept the verdict, no matter what it is. he will not pardon his son if he is convicted. joining me the legal analyst and former u.s. attorney barbara mcquaid is a professor at the university of michigan law school and cohost of the podcast. also the author of attack from

within it. and how disinformation is sabotaging america. thank you, for coming to the saturday show. how risky would it be for hunter biden to testify on his own behalf? >> testifying on his own behalf is a difficult decision that a defendant has to make. the lawyer will sit down with them and discuss the pros and the cons. and i think on the pro side the defense has been that hunter biden did not consider himself to be an addict at the time he filled out the form. he could've been addicted before and after puberty was not at the time. but are you addicted to drugs is the question. if he were to testify, he could say that i do not believe i was addicted at that time. that could create reasonable doubt on the jurors mind. on the other side, the candid

conversation with the lawyers. if you testify it puts into play anything that might tend to impeach your credibility. any prior inconsistent statement, bias you might have. any bad things you have ever done before. they come into play that would otherwise be not told to the jury. that is a balance that the defendant had to decide for himself. based on the advice that he gets. >> barbara, if he decides not to testify where that will leave his defense? >> well it could be they are done. and i think it leaves that were most cases and. arguing that the prosecution has not argued that beyond a reasonable doubt. what the defense would argue, although they got to contest what happened. that yes, he did purchase this

gun. and all of the facts that happened. he was using drugs on all of the dates that have been introduced. he did not believe himself to be an addict at that time. proving a defense intent and mindset is the hardest thing for a prosecutor. you cannot read another person's mind. much of the testimony has been that you did not see him on that day. you do not know if he was using on that today. certainly there was testimony right up and around that day. it requires some circumstantial evidence for the jury to find guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. but it seems like there is plenty of evidence for which they could draw that. probably an uphill battle for the defense. >> and how about the terminal conviction of donald trump. they sent a letter to both sides about a social media comment to preview the guilty verdict. and how seriously do you take this potential claim of a jury league? >> not at all. it is interesting and many courts have these which are unmoderated message boards. people can comment. they were set up that it could engage in good public discourse. many people engage in mischief

and worse. so this person has said my cousin says a >> the sole purpose is to discredit him and his successful prosecution of the case? >> yes. and i really worry about this idea of the accusations of the weaponization of criminal charges. donald trump got every step of the way on this case. i were there is a real

announcement of a case. and i closed my door and cried. there have been those days. and there are likely to be more and there are moments. and yes, even i feel desperation. >> joining me now, the senior correspondent where he focuses on the supreme court and the constitution. also the author of " the agenda" and how the republican supreme court is reshaping. thank you for being here. many cases i want to get to into small time that we have it. the trump versus the united states. how do we think the immunity is going to go? >> trump has already won this case. with the court is going to do is the president sometimes have immunity. they will send the case back to a lower court. but none of that matters. the issue is that are we going

to have a trial before the election. they have already run out the clock so much. the answer is going to be no. >> for sure and including trump can be charged with obstruction of an official proceeding. are they going to throw out these charges? >> i was very surprised how the oral argument went. there have been the 16 judges that have heard this claim in only two have said that the statute should be read narrowly. the defendants essentially get off. we are talking about 1200 january 6 defendants including donald trump. only 300 of them have been charged under the statute at issue here. it is not going to be blanket immunity for defendants. but we are tired but a good chunk of people that participated in the insurrection. >> the next have to do with abortion. and how do you think the justices are going to rule on that case? >> that is of the two abortion cases that is the most i'm optimistic about. >> they will leave it alone and

the access. >> that is correct. more than half of the abortions in the united states. they realize that if they accept the lower court's reasoning to ban it. so many others will be banned. they do not abortions but they do not want to ban antibiotics. >> that is the good news on abortion and thank you for that. >> i will spoil it just a second. >> whether federal law regulating hospital will trump local abortion bans when it comes to affording and providing emergency abortions. >> i'm worried about this case. it is a federal law and the apply to specific portions. but if you go to the emergency room and you have an emergency conditions. they need to stabilize you. the appropriate treatment is an abortion. the losses that you have a right

know about. and this is known as the chevron case. and this is whether to overturn the landmark supreme court ruling in 1984 chevron case. it gave federal agencies leeway to interpret the law. sounds dry but how this case to your mind is the vision to come down from the supreme court. >> this is the most hypertechnical even lawyers have trouble understanding. also the most important. there are federal laws that a delegate power to a federal agency. everything from how much emissions come from a power plant to what your cable rates are to who gets overtime pay.

it is controlled by federal agencies. chevron was from the reagan era. the courts will generally let agencies do what they need to do and defer to them. but the court is likely to give itself a veto power over everything the agencies will do. it is a huge transfer of power and a huge transfer of power from the democratic biden administration to a supreme court. with 6-3 republican majority. >> and also about regulating and antibiotics. that would give them purview over the fda. >> potentially. the fda has its own statute which is different than the regulatory regimen that will concern chevron. but what we have seen from the supreme court have been making up these things with names like

strategist for the biden 2020 presidential campaign. thank you both for coming to the saturday show. and welcome. david, let me start with you. talk about the importance of the tribute to american soldiers for d-day. >> jonathan, that was really a remarkable moment for an american president. recognizing the value, and the courage of americans and the servicemembers from around the globe that fought for freedom. doing so in a spot that is immediately recognizable. the reason it was so powerful. not just the words of president joe biden. and it fits into his political message and the egos of the american soul and freedom in the west. but i could not help for contrast that. with pictures of donald trump in helsinki. where he sided with russia and question our own democracy. and bring in the events of january 6th. the contrast of president joe biden as an american president

voters do. however shouldering his force and strength juxtaposed with how donald trump looks with world leaders. and what it donald trump cozies up with. it is going to played well for president joe biden here as we get closer to election day. >> david they are reporting that he has narrowed the list with three and four choices. north dakota are and rubio and tim scott and vance of ohio. all of them were critical of trump at one point or another, david. but what is trump looking for in a vice president at this time around? >> someone to say yes. and to also not detract from his ticket. or in the case who can write a really big check to support it donald trump's campaign. and what he has going for him is that we can go to november before the nation knows who

this guy is. maybe we saw him being reasonable during the primary. we know that is high marks as governor. but he is looking for somebody to fall in line. rubio has been a dark horse was moved up in the final four. simply because he played the politics of donald trump. he did not relitigate his flip- flop for the last eight years. he flopped and owned it. and he just owned it. and he reminds nikki haley voters that there are people like nikki haley still supporting donald trump. but the vice president it's not going to change. the nominee is not going to change the behavior of former president donald trump or the platform. but the country should hope for of somebody capable and not being able to serve. >> and so, from those four people. who do you think is going to be chosen? >> they are all kind of a

crapshoot. however, he might choose someone like tim scott. given that it provides diversity on the ticket. >> seriously? >> in air quotes. they have been trying to run black candidates in certain areas. republicans want to not be called the party full of white supremacists. tim scott could maybe. >> go ahead. >> there is an awesome new book that is about to drop. maybe i will bet that it is not tim scott. the wager will be the new book. >> that book is not coming out until may of next year. knock on wood. >> i am excited about it. >> david, thank you so much. that is very nice of you. but in the little bit of time we have left, let me back on topic. the one thing that we all know about donald trump and he is based on appearances.

donald trump and his campaign are making a public play for the black vote. even tim scott, the african- american a senator from south carolina the only black republican in the chamber has started a political action committee to target minority voters. in the seven key swing states. and good for them. they should ask for our vote. but he told the associated press that much to the chagrin of many folks there is no doubt. african-american men are wide open for a political shift of bipartisanship. i do not know about all that. but black voters and all voters should be aware. while they are smiting. they are denigrating black men

in plain sight. for instance, michael tyler is the communications director for the biden harris reelection campaign. and the principal deputy campaign manager. these two black men that you see are the most senior african- americans on the campaign. role models. and yet, the trump campaign and the rnc referred these two as junior staffers. or junior biden campaign spokesman. some of you might think what is the big deal. it is just a title. but when you are african- american, you learn quickly. the ways in which your stature, prominence or authority are undermined in the eyes of white people. that is exactly what trump and his campaign are doing. but we should not be surprised. trump is running his campaign the way that he has lived his life. going after black men.
