i came to bayview hunter's point, where there was only one pediatrician to serve more than 10,000 children. daniel lurie said, i'm going to help. we opened a clinic for our most vulnerable children. i have worked shoulder to shoulder with him as we have brought solutions where people thought the problem was unsolvable. daniel doesn't take excuses. he holds himself accountable. and i know that he can do it for the city of san francisco. it's safe to say that trump and the republicans had a bad week. as vice president kamala harris

made history thursday as the first woman of color to accept the democratic presidential nomination. trump as you can imagine was rage posting on his failed social media site during her speech with each post more random and desperate than the last. one even asked where hunter biden was. while another tried to denigrate the football coaching credentials of tim walz. it was as if trump was actively trying to make the point harris was making about him. >> in many ways, donald trump is an unserious man. but the consequences of putting donald trump back in the white house are extremely serious. >> and that was one jab too far for the thin skinned trump. moments later he called into fox news where he did what else but to rant and rave until he

officialing expedition. but the weirdest strategy came from that same fox host who put on an election fraud conspiracy theory on x citing a friend's wife. yep, a friend's wife. hundreds of immigrants were being illegally registered to vote after obtaining drivers licenses in texas. it was such an off the wall baseless claim that the department of safety had to debunk it calling her claims kind of racist and simply false. i think they are a little more than kind of racist. when asked for a comment, a fox spokesperson defended her saying she was citing a source of hers and never said she confirmed the story. same song and dance we have seen from republicans when they are backed into a corner. they simply pivot to racism. desperate smears, conspiracy theories. it is not working nor reversing the reality that the momentum and the enthusiasm is now clearly with democrats. my panel is here to break it

all down. christina greer at the city college of new york. great to have all three of you with us. we had to watch a lot of right wing media distill this hate, this racism. but what do you make of this from criticizing tim walz to suggesting he was being groomed by china for this role to the racism of president obama and everything in between. >> so, we have the greatest hits that we have seen before. but what's really concerning to me is that we know that on fox news in these types of networks, they will just keep repeating lies. so then, their supporters, i would say their cult members will then all of a sudden say you know, tim walz actually did go to china. he is being recruited by china.

and then these larger conspiracy theories, we have pizza gate. but people still believe these things. the things donald trump throws out there for his base, they are going down a dangerous rabbit hole. oh i lost my parents to fox news. it makes the work of democrats that much harder. it needs to be them talking and deprogramming their family members and loved ones. do you think in 1994 a football coach and a teacher were being recruited by the chinese government? it sounds so ridiculous. it doesn't matter if barack obama was born in hawaii or not. his mother is an american. that makes him an american. that makes kamala harris an american though she has two

belligerent statements against his opponents, what do they have left to fall back on? so that is how you get to the point where you have fox news hosts repeating things they might have seen or heard on facebook,en air to their viewers. presenting that as a truth. fox news coming back saying oh, well, she didn't confirm the story. that is wild. i think that it is fascinating to really, when you sit and think about that story in particular. how little critical thinking was involved before repeating that idea. >> to your point, i want to bring that up for angela. you have been looking into and uncovering this insane voter fraud that maria threw out there, completely unvetted. deliberately. i think she knew what she was doing when she did this. she is hiding behind or fox is hiding behind the fact it wasn't confirmed she said that. you have the attorney general now. ken paxton launching an

investigation on their report though texas officials have debunked it. now they have this report. can kent paxton, launch an investigation. now it enters into the lexicon of the gop for the next 70 plus days. >> that's exactly right. that's what happens is that now instead of citing this sort of report that maria pushed out there, they get to talk about it as an investigation. so it is launders disinformation through these channels. the same thing happened in georgia. there is all this conspiracy circulating that 14% of non- citizens were going to vote. it was disinformation online. that's the part about this. the chaos we are seeing as a reflection of the fact there is no center of gravity in the right wing media. it is worth noting this is the first election in 30 years where rush limbaugh is not the single largest get out the vote operation in the country.

getting paid for this event if he will be out in public doing anything. the man needs a lot of money. the other question i have is whose idea was to hold this right before the debate? right before kamala harris will be standing next to him for a good 90 minutes hitting him on january 6th. you want this to be the thing that they are focused on? that is horrible strategy if your idea is to win anyone who was even considering not vetting for you. >> do you think the campaign considers that? you will get hit hard with the january 6th stuff. you are still facing charges in connection to it. maybe not a good idea to have this five days before a debate with a former prosecutor. former prosecutor who just made the case for a week straight with every other member at the dnc that you are a threat to our democracy. now you are celebrating those who are a threat to our democracy. >> i'm not sure if any of the sycophants around him have the courage to even lay something
7:54 pm
like that out. maybe people tiptoed. maybe we shouldn't do this and focus on debate prep. no, i have it. she's not smart so i'm fine. right? so maybe, since she said kamala harris for the people. we might want to step away from this. but i think it goes back to your previous segment. his meat and potato, bread and butter supporters, people who will make him feel great will be in that room, lift him up to give him the courage and energy to go into that debate will be in that room and that is what he focuses on. >> this is at his resort. so he is making money. ideology aside, strategy aside. he is thinking i can make a buck off this. >> how much money could i make
7:55 pm
about it? what does he go out and do? i have to ask you about that. that on the spectrum, is the guy who allegedly threw a bear? >> he said he threw a dead bear cub into central park. >> because he didn't have time to dispose of it in up state new york. >> there is a segment of the population, individuals who like some of the fringe things rfk jr. talked about. he is an anti-vaxer. his climate policies are odd. he doesn't believe in science in a lot of ways so he will pick up a small segment of the population. there might be a lot of fall- off as well. he like to be on the front page of the papers saying i have a kennedy now. an off brand kennedy.
7:56 pm
but he is a kennedy nonetheless. >> the funniest thing about this is one, rfk jr. 's campaign was tanking. a lot of people who were going to vote for him move because biden dropped out. well i'm not as mad anymore. i don't want a third party candidate anymore. kennedy said he would be staying on the ballot in some states. that encouraging people to vote for him. it is the funniest thing to me that this is what he gets for it. this is what trump gets for it. a weirdo in his camp who is not going to bring him that many votes who may in fact draw votes away from him, still. in some states. he said he is only doing it in f, pulling out in swing states. going to stay on the ballot in others but it is still very funny he could draw down trump's margin. >> we have an official tinfoil hat party now with trump and rfk jr. joining forces to try to win this election. god help us all. always a pleasure, thank you so much for making time for us tonight. make sure to come back tomorrow
