tv   Palestine Declassified Zionist Spies On Campus  PRESSTV  March 13, 2024 11:02am-11:31am IRST

11:02 am
of have to be violated, how many more children have to be annihilated? this is not a war, it is systematic genocide, but whatever is shy, palestine will never die free palestine, hello, i'm chris williamson and you're watching palestine declassified, we're the only weekly tv show that's dedicated to investigating and exposing the israeli
11:03 am
regime's global war against solidarity with the illegally occupied people of palestine. in this week's show, we'll be inspecting the role of zinus spirings on us university campuses who are using covert methods to stamp out criticism of israel and crush pro-palestine student groups. latifrakra has this report about how these zienist agents manipulate us legislation and influence us politicians. listen to... nancy pelosi at the end of january this year, and what we have to do is try to stop the suffering and gossip. this is women and children, people don't have a place to go, so let's address that, but for them to call for a cease fire is mr. putin's message, mr. putin's message, make no mistake, this is directly connected to what he would like to see, and then i think some of these, some of these protesters are spontaneous. and organic and sincere, some i
11:04 am
think are connected uh to russia, and i say that having looked at this for a long time, what is going on here? these are zionist talking points. as the palestinians say, every zionist accusation is a confession. in reality, the only country with really significant spy networks in the us is the zionist entity. the fbi and the cia know this, but they are either unwilling. or unable to investigate. israeli espinage networks operate freely in universities, businesses, and government facilities across the united states. one well-known spy network is the anti-deformation league, created in 1913, it has been spying on arab americans since before the creation of designist entity. throughout this period, the adl has also closely collaborated with the fbi. today, the ad is doing more than attempting
11:05 am
to suppress free speech on palestine. it is attempting to have ordinary pro-palestine activism declared to be terrorism. what they are trying to do is use vaguely worded law of which they lobbied for to intract palestine solidarity activism as falling under legal definition of material support for terrorism. in late october, the anti-deformation league and another zionist group published an open letter urging universities to investigate of students for. justice in palestine under the material support statute introduced in 1996. as well as accusing sjp of supporting hamas, they were also, the adl claimed, voicing increasingly radical call for confronting and dismanteling zionism on us college campuses. material support for terrorism can include giving advice or other speech so long as it's at the behest or in coordination with the terrorist group. but there is also attempt by
11:06 am
the adl and its allies to claim that routine pro-palestine activism should be legally understood as support for terrorism. they are working to blur the line between independent advocacy which is allowed and coordination which could be terrorism. it is of little comfort that there is no public evidence, any sjp student members coordinated with hamas or any other armed group. the case law construing the material supports statutes punishment. of advocacy is so underdeveloped that there is considerable room for investigative overreach by the fbi. the line between independent advocacy and material support as speech in coordination with a listed terrorist group remains unelaborated. of course the adl is one of the few non-government groups that trains federal law enforcement on counter terrorism. it can use the gap to advance its overreaching concept of material support statute. to fight back,
11:07 am
all campus groups and university management need to declare that no independent campus speech, no matter how incindary serves as legitimate basis for material support and investigation, joining me in the studio as usual is our resident expert david miller. david is academic and a former professor at bristol university and is now a non-resident senior research fellow at the center of islam and global affairs at istanbul zaham university. he's also a co-director of the lobby and watch dog spinwatch and is a leading british scholarly critic of israel. our guest contributor today is lamis deek who's based in the united states and i spoke to her earlier via skype. lemis is a lawyer whose worksp. international human rights, criminal defense, civil rights, civil litigation, immigration and family law. her reputation is such that her renowned legal advocacy work has been highlighted by major national and international media outlets. welcome to the show. well, i started by asking lamise if she thought that many people
11:08 am
in the united states actually buy into the kind of argument that nancy was making in that report that we just saw in litifa's contribution. not. only is this a dishonest attempt to divert and demonize popular democratic will, um, but it really speaks to somebody who's so grossly disconnected from the american populist, but also from what should be her own base. the people who are buying into it are only the people who are already have taken a position or who are so deeply propagandized and on... able to reconcile the very obvious contradictions and so need this kind of grasping at straws to find a boogie man uh behind this massive truly hurricane of support for palestinian liberation and for a cease fire in the us.
11:09 am
david, this argument then about concerns for gaza being a putin talking point point. i mean, would you make of that? well it's an attempt isn't it to use this whole russia gate thing uh that was the debate that was encouraged in the u.s. that somehow trump was a russian asset or in the uk that somehow brexit was brought about by russian lobby tempted to divert attention from the fact that that there's actually genoside going on in in gaza and they try and say oh if you say you're for sease fire you're just being used as a useful ideate by by vladimir putin as if that's going to mean people going to say oh i'm not say anything but anymore, of course that's the that's the attempt, that's what it's for, it's an attempt to to quieten and dampen and to poop people off to intimidate people from talking about the fact that children are being killed every single day deliberately by the zionists, yes we do. well, lamf has been toged by the anti-defamation league for suggesting that
11:10 am
zinanism should be dismantled, so i asked her about her experience of that group. well, so if i may, i actually didn't even know that was a target. the adl, i've been a target many times, i was one of even when i was early in law school, a target of daniel pipe's operation called little green footballs, so this is something that's become a main stay and a staple of my life since i was quite young for 23 years now, um, i was apprised of it actually through a colleague whom i met through an irish conference on irish reunification, um, their tactics have shifted, their... now google reviews out about me um so the their operation has become more sophisticated than it used to be um in the sense that they do attack business and income and copy have created copy cat sites and so on and so forth so i have a long history of experience with outlets like the
11:11 am
adl. david, we've already spoken about the anti-definition league a number of occasions haven't we on on this show um but the benefits of - viewers who perhaps have missed those uh uh those shows, i wonder whether you you might just briefly outline the kind of history of the of the adl, the anti-deformation league. so it was created in 1913 uh in relation to an alleged uh case of antisemitism a case which is actually still to this day hotly disputed the the the person was involved was black and so was a question about whether there was racism involved in in in the sitting up with the organization itself, but by the 1940s it was already civiling arab americans. tr at the creation of israel uh and accusing them of being anti-jewish, so it's a very, very early example of the attempt to to weaponize antisemitism, but before even the creation of israel, and at that stage and all the way through its history is work very very closely with the fbi, some mostly collaborating, but
11:12 am
there's been occasions when the fbi has itself investigated the adl and and cases also when the adl have tried to infiltrate the fbi and the fbi is not like that, so there's a kind of a on off relationship. because they're just so close in in their involvement. yeah, well i, i then asked lamis about the material support for terrorism debate and and how it's being used against pro-palestine protesters. uh, i'm going to try to be brief, but you're gonna have to bear with me uh, i call them national security cases and material support cases, um, these are frameworks, these aren't just charges, these are actual frameworks that extend to the civil arena, the financial, the commercial, they become sanctions, they become corporate. compliance issues, they're very serious allegations and very wide all
11:13 am
consuming network, and i'll tell you having handled these cases since approximately 2004, and having represented on one of the last ones, the last big ones to come, because we ended up shutting down a big part of the app apparatus that was manufacturing these cases, very well coordinated and often mobilized at first instance by the israeli government, the ccr along with daryl lee. have put out a report recently on this and i've been giving lectures specifically about this for almost two decades, a little less probably, and if you look at the history of the material support laws in the us, they were nine out of 10 times, if not almost all the time, um, targeting palestinians in coordination with the israeli government. david, why do you think then the the fbi hasn't investigated the adl a bit more? well, i mean to be fair, the the fbi has investigated the adl, both in terms of attempts to infiltrate it way back
11:14 am
in in the 40s and 50s, also then in the 90s when there was spy case taken against the adl and it was revealed that the adl were coordinating with the bureau of state security in in south africa's apartite regime, they were passing information about uh anti-apartite protesters to the south africans that they coordinated directly with with the israelis, the fbi were investigating some of that, they in fact... said, this is a this is clearly foreign agent of the israeli government, it should be registered as such, etc., but of course there's always been in these circumstances attempt at the top of the american par to drop these things, it's been the case actually also with the cia, but especially with the fbi, there's been tons of examples where where the adl and other israely spy operations have been have been flagged as being a problem and there's always been somehow some pressure put. and they and they the and the investigation is distract and they suddenly they say oh no there was
11:15 am
wasn't anything there no indeed buse i was gonna ask you mean you yes they've investigated as you've said but but but they're still going and they're still doing these kind of nefarious activities that's right and and and it's it's creative because nadia was only one example of the many different aspirings designs run in america and and there's a it's like they've got kind of compromat on on on key elements of the hierarchy and certainly we know there's been comp and in cases the case of uh president clinton for example and others, but but that's probably part of the story, but i think there's much more to it, which is that, which is that there are people in the the top the fbi and indeed the cia who don't want this story to be told, and so they they get the people who want to investigate it, honest people in the fbi get squashed, yes indeed, well we're going to uh come back to our discussion after our next report, um, this one's about a malevolent group whose entire rison dettra is to thwart pro- palestine groups. on university campuses. israel on campus coalition has been spying on pro-
11:16 am
palestine students for years. it is linked to israeli intelligence and strategically targets individual students or faculty on campus in order to crush the movement. icc was created by hilelel international and the lind schusman family foundation in 2002 to promote israel advocacy on campus. the money came from the businessman charles schusman who at that this stage had major interest in bancopol, israel's largest bank, and has extensive interest in oil, real estate, banking and shipping in the us. today, hilal and the icc maintain close organizational ties. the icc continues to provide helel professionals with israel advocacy training and support. hilel has taken a more extreme form of zinism in recent years sparking a rebellion by some student members who are critical of some aspects of designism, they call their challenge open hilal and says it promotes pluralism and open discourse on
11:17 am
israel, palestine in jewish communities on campus and beyond. we aim to eliminate hilal international standards of partnership for israel activities which exclude individuals and groups from the jewish community on campus on the basis of their views on israel, but even calling for debate on zionism was too much for the icc which engaged in spying. on the jewish student group, the spy operation was closely coordinated with the zinanis regime, as was revealed by the lobby usa. here is lila greenberg, formerly of apex. using pools resources from all of the campus organizations so that like they're tapped in on all. according to jacob, currently the icc's chief executive officer, we built up this massive national political campaign to crush them. it's modeled on general stanley mccrystal's counter-insurgency strategy in iraq. we've copied lot from that strategy that has been
11:18 am
working really well for us actually, and one the pieces is this operations and intelligence brief. this is then passed to israel's ministry of... strategic affairs. bame confirmed that icc coordinates with and communicates with the ministry. once collected, data from the icc's web of campus spies and high-tech israeli surveillance equipment, then flows to the anti-deformation league. the adl itself, closely in touch with zinis intelligence agency, but also uses the data to weaponize anti-semitism in its reports on bds and palestine activism. among its other activity. the icc offered to pay any pro israel student $250 to attend the sparsely attended dam squib of the march for israel in november 2023 in washington dc. make no mistake, designist regime has agents on campus all over the united states. everyone must be removed. david, tell us
11:19 am
about this hillal international and -- this studentuh group this been involved in. buying another shocking example isn't it of of zienist activities? yeah, another shocking example, yes, so hilal international is the us version of the zinish student groups that you see all over the world, usually the members of the world union of jewish students like the the union of jewish students in the uk is, hilal is not a member of that, so it's not formally part of the zionist movement, but it's become increasingly zionist over the past few years and you can see that especially in its launching back in 2002 of the israel on campus coalition, an organization which directly... coordinates with uh with israeli intelligence officials and so you can see that that kind of the way in which um advocacy advocacy can fuse or maled into actual subversion by israel's intelligence agencies on foreign campuses in the us they have have hundreds and hundreds of of branches on different us campuses uh
11:20 am
does and they work very closely in almost every case with with icc, the israel on campus coalition as well, right? well, the israel on campus coalition has has been coordinating with the zionist regime for some time, so i asked, why that's a problem for supporters of palestine? look, this implicates lot of not just constitutional, civil um issues, but this implicates in a very real way the physical safety of these students, we've seen on campus in colombia students and including some palestinian students who were attacked with skunkwater by by other students, i believe who had served in the israeli army. um, i think, just as the
11:21 am
adl should be investigated, and i'm sure many the attorneys i know and respect. will be launching demands for investigation of the adl and the icc, the not not the international criminal court, but the israel on campus coalition of being agents of the israeli government, and i'm sure that a proper investigation will reveal that to be the case, so there's a concern about repression, about academic censure in academia, this is terrifying concept that we're we're seeing escalate in a way that we hadn't seen. for and a threat to the physical safety of the students, israeli agents operate on you as soil. david, this seems to be more than attempt to oppose bds doesn't it? i mean, it really is an israeli spy network, isn't it? yeah, look, i mean, you can normally if you have a dispute and you
11:22 am
have - different student groups in different sides, then they're having arguments and this, this call debate, of course. now in the case of bds go further, they took, they move towards bullying and intimidation and all those kinds of things, but this is a step further than that as well in the sense that it's actually directly recruiting students on campuses to spy for hostile foreign state to pass the information back to israel so it can then be weaponized and so in particular uh people are docs, the personal details are given out, they try and stoping getting careers or jobs or or the to rem them from the their posts in universities for example so it's it's very much a um covert intelligence involvement in in campus politics direct by by the israel intelligence agencies which is really quite different from what you would expect in anti- bds campaigning, of course, well, i then asked lamise about her view on the current shape of campus activism on palestine. what i've seen
11:23 am
is something i've never seen before, which is not just the growth um of the numbers of students from all backgrounds who are joining these movements, but this the growth in their strength and bravery and in their willingness to confront and challenge in a more sophisticated. way than i'd seen in 23 years of giving support to student activists um as my sideing, not not my primary legal work, i've never seen the level of sophistication, bravery and organizing in the face of equally unprecedented repression and attacks from campus administrators who, by the way, are under extreme pressure, not just by the federal and local government, but by zi israeli organizations, and part of our offering when we um represent and defend these students is an offering to campus administration to help them push back against
11:24 am
these very difficult ethical um connundrums and and conflicts that they're facing. david, how exactly is this um israel on campus funded then? i mean it's uh interesting, it was started um by by the uh schusterman family foundation, money comes from this guy called. other financial interest in the uk in the us sorry yeah uh but then later on it was also funded it's been funded by and this was revealed by the lobby usa program funded by this guy this convict adam milstein who funded a covertly and this was revealed in the undercover filming which you saw some of that in the fit is just there but i think what's interesting about all all of this this is that that this you've also got to think about this in relation to the short-lift ministry of strategic affairs which is an intelligence led ministry which was which was used to subvertuh bds campaigns all over the
11:25 am
world and which was also putting money into these campaigns the difficulty in the us let's remember is the foreign agents registration act a piece of law which is brought in to counteract nazi influence in the 1930s in the us and so the difficulty is that israel through the ministry of affairs wanted to plow money 35 million dollars in one particular year into all all these uh proszionist organizations but it couldn't do it because the some of the organisations said well we'll have to register us foreign agents and so probably what's happened is that some of this money has gone through pass throughs and gone into to foundations and then been given directly to organizations like the icc. well we're going to have to leave it there as the clock's beaten us again so thanks for watching and thank you to our guest let me speak and of course our resident exp. professor david miller, palestiny classified will be back next week with more forensic investigations and analysis, and you can follow the show on facebook, twitter and telegram, where we post regular clips and updates. you can also help us to counteract
11:26 am
the disinformation pedaled by the corporate media about palestine and the resistance to zines brutality, by showing today's program on your social media platforms. so until next time, this is chris williamson, saying bye for now. in late 2023, south africa filed case at the international court of justice icj over the israeli apart regime's genocidal war against palestinians in the besieg gaza strip. south africa stated that the tv regime has failed to uphold its commitments under the 1948 genocide convention south. africa filed the los set against the israeli regime at the end of december, noting that israel's actions in gaza that started last october are generally in character because they are intended to bring about the destruction of a substantial

the headlines ahead of onroa says more children have been killed during israel's genocide in gaza than in four years of conflict around the world, about 100 european academic. condemn israel's genocide in gaza, saying the regime is systematically erasing the territory's education system, and a group of human rights ngos are filing a lawsuit against denmark to force the country to end arms exports to israel and made the gaza genicide.
