the kingdom of morocco and the israeli apathi regime agreed on december 10, 2020 to normalize relations in a deal broker with the help of the administration of former us president donald trump. now this deal was betrayal of morocco's historical commitment to the palestinian cause. despite sif opposition by moroccans, the monarchy is entrenching this betrayal by signing military and security deals with the israeli regime. in the most recent move, these north african. kingdom plans to acquire a satellite from the israeli genocidal regime in a shameful $1 billion dollar deal, elsewhere in sudan, the rsf militia continues to commit unprecedented atrocities in several parts of the country ameid amounting humanitarian crisis. now tensions in the country have increased after assassination attempt on the commander of the sudanese armed forces, general abdulfat al burhan who is also the chairman of sudan's transitional sovereign council. now who was behind? the attempt to eliminate al-burhan
6:04 pm
and how will it impact on the ongoing war of attrition and peace talks? hello and welcome to africa today, mubarak kenya and this week we are focusing on the despicable move by the monarchy in morocco to purchase an expensive spy satellites from the israeli regime amid the ongoing genocidal war by the regime against palestinians in gaza. in the other segment of our program we shall talk about the atrocities being committed by the foreign b safe militia in sudan, so stay with us and you can be part of our conversation by sending your comments through our social media handle. morocco betraying palestine. the monarchy in morocco is set to acquire a in spy satellite from the israeli apartide regime despite rising opposition to any ties with this genocidal regime in the north african kingdom. "the people of morocco have
6:05 pm
continued to hold pro palestine demonstrations across the country and they have strongly condemned and rejected the normalization of tires between the kingdom and the israeli apartide regime. we're here to condemn once again the creeping normalization of the moroccan regime with the zionist state. this normalization is making of us lose our national soverinety. now for more on the military ties between the monarchy in morocco." and the israeli regime we have contacted sedon, the co-founder of moroccan bds movement at the forefront of boycotting the israel regime, he's also human rights activist, thanks lot for your time today sir, thank you for inviting me, hope i can be useful for the information to people who will listen to us, thank you, now the monarchy in morocco is: to purchase the israeli regime
6:06 pm
security and military equipment a time when these apart regime is engaged in a us backed genocidal war against palestinians in gaza. now our first question, mr. asidon, why is morocco pursuing uh these bloody deals a time when these israeli regime is engaged in a genocide in gaza? the relation between the regime here in morocco and the occupiers of palestine. began in 61 when there was an agreement between the regime and the secret services of the occupation to organize the to organize that the jewish communities here in morocco will be be sent to palestine and
6:07 pm
becoming from between the night and the and the morning. um occupiers, people who will utilize weapons to fight against palestinian and will occupy the places where palestinian people from where palestinian people were chased by the nabar. so it's not something new. the monarchy in morocco is. under increasing pressure to listen to the masses and abandon all ties with the tel aviv regime. moroccans also take part in regular rallies across the country and particularly in the capital rabat to protest atrocities carried out against palestinians by the western-backed israeli apartide regime.
6:08 pm
however, the monarchy is ignoring the masses. the question is that the message has no sovereignty in this country. we are not. being a state of of democracy and human rights, but all the powers are between the hands of the regime, and he has all the means to follow whatever is its choice, it's political choices and to ignore u the the position of the masses, but it's not really completely true, that's because the regime has to take in account the the pressure of the masses. now morocco's growing military
6:09 pm
ties with the israeli regime are source of tensions and savering of ties with neighboring algeria, israeli military presence in morocco is counter to algeria. longstanding strategy of rejecting any foreign military presence in the region. in august 2021, the then algerian foreign minister ramtane lamamera announced that his country was cutting off diplomatic ties with morocco. he accused rabat of hostile actions and cited least of grievances, including morocco's normalization of ties with the israeli regime. now here's the announcement: now next question to mr. asidon, what role has the israeli regime played in inciting morocco against his neighbor algeria, a country that strongly backs palestinian liberation movements. the people of algeria
6:10 pm
and morocco has no contradictions and no problems and when you you meet with people in algeria or tunisia. or mauritania, we have all the same interest to build a common political project, which is which which it is, it is not the interest of the regimes in place, because each one want to remain master the game in its own country, so unfortunately the maghrebian unity. failed uh for decades, meanwile it would have been a fantastic local uh experience to have all these countries united and putting all together their energy
6:11 pm
and capacities resources uh to be very strong uh country but it is not happening and on the other hand, america, europe and the the tionist regime are working always to develop contradictions between these countries. the rulers of morocco are now using israeli supplied software to clamp down on all those opposed to the destructive policies of the monarchy. the new satellite acquired from israel is also expected to be used. against the people of western sahara, the monarchy in morocco is trying to silence the opposition and the western sahara polisario front by spying using the israeli supply technology. however, analysts believe the clampdown using israeli supplied systems cannot stop demands for democracy and freedom in morocco. the
6:12 pm
demands of for democracy and freedom are there, but uh, for me, as i told you, uh, i don't consider... that those country has to be separated and i don't consider that sahara has to be separated from from from morocco ' saharan people needs democracy like morockan people needs democracy and we all together has to fight together to obtain this. the moroccan authorities recently allowed an israeli worship to dock in the port of tanjir to allow its crew to replenish fuel and food supplies and root from the us. now this came after the people of spain objected to the vessel being. granted permission to use the country spots due to the israeli regime's genocidal war on palestinians in gaza.
6:13 pm
now last question to mr. asidon. "now why did the morocco commit such a breazen act of
6:14 pm
betrayal of assisting the israeli genocidal regime? because of the military agreements, they didn't reach to go to spain, but they came directly to tengir, and we had huge protests against this, the reason is because there are military. agreement and they are able to use the the military airports in morocco and the harbors in the morocco. well uh, thank you very much, sir nacidon co-founder of morocken bds movement. now bds is a pro- palestinian movement promoting boycots, divestments and economic sanctions against the israeli apartite regime. we now take a short break before our next topic on the escalation of the situation in sudan. stay with: escalation in sudan. as gaza
6:15 pm
faces the genocide of the israeli occupation, new leader emerges from the ashes. yahya sinwar, the newly appointed leader of hamas, takes the helm after the assassination of martter ismail hanye. his rise sends a powerful message to tel aviv. you took one leader, but even stronger force has risen to lead the resistance. from his underground command center in gaza, senward orchestrates the fight, proving that the resistance is far from over. meanwhile, in washington, narrative of false hope emerges, a prisoner swap and temporary cease fire are touted as steps towards peace, but is it truly an end to the genocide in gaza? senarwar leads the resistance, hamas steers the fight, and the world watches. this week on the... stream,
6:16 pm
last month, sudanese ima chief general abdul fatih burhan survived an ass national attempt after a drone strike targeted an army base, al-burhan who also heads the country's transitional sovereign counsel was visiting the dibat army base for a military graduation ceremony. amit the failed assassination, intense fighting erupted in el fasher, the capital of north darfur, late july as the sydanese army and its allied armed movements clashed with the foreign-backed rsf militants. the fighting in darfor has... displaced hundreds of thousands of people escaping atrocities committed by the rsf,
6:17 pm
many young people are now joining forces with the government to defeat the rsf militia. the displacement, the looting of civilians, the rape of our sisters and mothers is what made me join this camp. the rsf took over niala and staying there became too dangerous, so i came here, but joined this camp to return to darfour and fight. the rsf now for more on the situation in sudan, we are joined by muhammad, a sudanese civil society activist. thanks lot, mr. sabira for your time today, thank you. thank you so much for having me uh and i'm very happy for this show today, now sudance military leader general abdul fatih burhan has survived assassination attempt, the army spokesman nabil abdullah blamed the rsf militia which the army has been battling for the last 16 months for control of the country. now uh first question, can you tell
6:18 pm
us more about these assassination attempt on alburhan? the situation in the in the sudan as well as the the political situation which is coinciding with the um initiatives which is taking to um to the talks which invited by us in geneva and as well as the rest of the the initiative that's taking place right now has the the the the has formed the constitution. which is one of the um one of the consequences um um attempt of assassinating of the albhan so basically there's a lot of argument in this in this in this assination whereby some people they are taking that saying that thistion has happened internally or this a term of assassination is
6:19 pm
a ter whereby there is um there is a conflict within the the the the military camp commander in in in sudan basically also there's another another argument where is like there is that uh rsf militia is the one who send it the um the who tried to assassinate burhan while he was in algebet attending the graduation of the of the troops according to panel of independent experts assigned by the un security council between april and december 2023, the rsf and its affiliated militias were responsible for the deaths of 10,00 to 15,00 civilians in west darfor. the un security council's resolution 2736 demands the rsf and its siege of alfasher. however, the un has apparently
6:20 pm
failed to take stern action against the rsf. this lack of action is likely due to some powerful. countries backing this brutal militia group, one of the issues that is now posponding and pending in the in the decision of un because of um the the countries which they are now sitting in the in the un security some of them they are packing um the militia and and and and and and and actually all the all the all the hands goes to to and allies so that's why there's no clear action from the un or un security in order to um to have a clear decision regarding to the donar side that committed by the uh medisha in in genena and as well as also in a 41 page document sent to the un security council contains images of emirati passports allegedly found in sudan and linked to
6:21 pm
malisha man of the rapid support forces al harith idris al harith mohammed sudan's ambassador to the united nations says cartoon has evidence of the weapon supply and his government will submit a file on uae actions to the international criminal court. we have submitted to you, mr. president, a week ago, six uae passports that we found in kartum in joint operations perpetrated by rapid response forces, and you have not published this, as we have asked. we did not steal these passports from the suitcases of uae citizens in the uae, we found them in the heart. the battlefield, the uae envoy, the united nations categorically rejected the claims by sudan. we see this as a um shameful abuse by one of the warning parties of sudan of this council, using this platform to spread false allegations against the uae to
6:22 pm
distract from the grave. violations that are happening on the ground. now next question to mr. bara, what uh is your opinion on the involvement of other countries in inflaming atrocities being committed by the rsf militia against the people of sudan. regarding to this, we see that there is delay in the decision regarding to the from us and from uk regarding to the today to the to the to to to put in account or to... um to ask clearly um their allies which is uae regarding to the disinvolvement and and actually there's also um some scares from the us and uk regarding to the the relation relations which is between um south sudanes sudanese army force and the other um other countries in the
6:23 pm
region whereby um whereby letting the decision of of putting uae in account is uh is seem to be a little bit far in their in their options right now. and also um uh as well as also uk uk and us they are um they w known that the authorities that competed by rsf and also um the aliight militia sudan is clearly facing humanitarian catastrophe that has not fully received the attention it deserves or the funding required to meet the scale of the crisis. lenny kinsley the world. food program spokesperson in sudan says the country now faces the world's worst hunger crisis. this is the world's worst hunger crisis at the moment and it is the worst
6:24 pm
catastrophe uh in terms of hunger and number of people that are suffering that has hit sudan in more than two decades. the situation is absolutely catastrophic. there are 755,00 people who are in the highest level of food in security. in in catastrophic conditions, who are barely struggling to survive each day, we're hearing reports of people eating leaves, eating grass and now the confirmation that there is famin in zamzam idp camp, just 12 kilometers outside of the capital of north darfur in al-fashar. sudan now has the world's largest internally displaced population with nearly 11.1 million displaced people due to the conflict that began in... april 2023 and earlier conflicts dating back to 2003. regarding to the humanitarian situation, it is really uh with a profound sadness that the whole world is watching
6:25 pm
what's going on in sudan, and also there's a lot of calling from um from the from the displaced people as well as from the national organization to the international community that must increase their um their their funding to. the humanitarian assistance in sudam, but actually this is very certainness that all the world is in silence whereby sudanese people they are facing actropic hanger in different areas and that's why um a few coming days we will see that the the whole the whole sudanese people who are still within the sudan may face the costrubic hanger regarding to the lack of humanitarian assistant and regarding to the... of funding and and and and and to the funding so basically we can see that the the the international community has forgotten about
6:26 pm
the sudan and which is very sad. before the assassination attempt on al-burhan, the sudanese government had conditionally accepted invitation to attend peace talks in geneva, the rsf militions have confirmed participation. now mr. ask question, what are the chances of success of th latest round of talks in geneva considering the fact that previous fish initiatives had failed? these uh geneva talks must bring at least two functions to the point where by uh they can agree on the seas fire and then also to stop the war uh and and allowing the humanitarian assistant to reach different areas in in sudan especially in in the f and other various areas. um the the the clear um way of these stocks is um by inforcing to uh two functions to come to the existance where by
6:27 pm
um to have clear um clear points or clear agreements on the on the points of stopping clashing and also to to allowing humanit assistance in in different areas well our time is over for now, i'd like to thank our guest mohammed bera, a sudanese civil society activist. we shall keep our eyes on sudan as the situation unfolds. well, and that brings us to the end of this week's edition of africa today. it's always great having you watch the show, you can watch this episode and all our previous shows on our website, pressv.ir. also, drop us a line through our social media handle appearing on the screen, on behalf of our crew here today, it's me mubarak kenya, saying goodbye for now.
6:28 pm
