hello and welcome to press tv spotlight, i'm marza hashemi, thanks so much for being with. monday, the 325th day of the zionist genocide against palestinians in gaza, as well as the day the israeli regime received its 500th areal shipment of weapons and military supplies from the united states since october the 7th. over 50,000 tons of military equipment has been sent to israel from washington by way of 500 flights and 107 sea shipments. stay with us as we take a closer
1:06 pm
look at what this actually means as officially 40,435 palestinians have been killed, but others estimates up to 186,000 palestinians may have been killed so far in the genocide taking place in real time in gaza. i'd like to welcome my guests to the program. assad abu shark, a palestinian. academic and activists out of dublin, and eves ingler, author and activist out of montreal. well, thank you both for being with us. well, i like to start this off in dublin with assad. i mean, what does it mean when we say that washington is the main supplier, main weapon supplier to a regime that is committing genocide? this means that the
1:07 pm
united states of america is totally of complicit, totally involved and leading the war, leading this genocide against the... palestinian people and the only reason the united states is doing that is to annihilate, decimate, destroy the palestinian people so that israel will be the sopar regional power in that part of the world, and the united states doesn't care for any any other reason or justification. no human rights, no democracy, nothing, these are lies coming from the mouth of you know those western political chameleons and stripteser, i call them striptizer, and let me tell you something, it's not only those weapons coming
1:08 pm
from the united states, there are also weapons coming to israel, sent to israel from america's military bases, whether it is from from the united arab emirates, from morocco, because america, remember has will over 800 military bases all over the world, the most important of which is israel, and israel and america, which is in total collusion with israel and cooperation and collaboration, wants to end first the palestinian to... pituate the occupation of the palestinian to decimate the palestinian people and after that to encourage israel to go to more invasions egypt against egypt against syria against jordan and remember let me tell you
1:09 pm
that trump i think last week or few days ago said israel is small and israel must be expanded so this israel remember israel is no more than a western mercenary army planted in the very heart of the arab and muslim world, its aim is to inhilate the palestinian people, launch more wars and order to keep the interests of the america of america of the west, regardless of any course. okay, at the experience of the indigenous population and people of that part of the world. okay, well let me get eves in in this conversation. let's just think about what is being said when we talk about 50,00 tons, 50,00 tons of military equipment sent in 10 months to be used in one of the most highly densely
1:10 pm
populated areas in the world, were at least 47% of the population or kids, i mean your thoughts, and and and how can the... us justify doing this? well, it it certainly can't justify doing this uh by any serious moral standard, it's a uh, it's really, it's a holocaust in gaza, i mean it's a level of destruction and displacement and uh immiseration and trauma and uh effort to basically destroy a whole population, so it's clearly unjustifiable. uh, the quantity is surprising, honestly, as somebody who's been following the fact that us has been arming israel, i mean this is even more than i would have thought, uh, there's a hundred, 500, i think they say 500 air shipments and 107 uh
1:11 pm
naval shipments and that of course is top of all of the uh the weapons that the us has been you know giving to israel for years and years and years, and the us also has this... big like uh arms depot in israel that this goes back many years um i believe they've uh it's supposed to be us arms stationed in israel, i believe they've they've um they've opened that up to the israeli military as well um this is i mean you know when you to say it's a uh it's not hyperboly at all to say this is a us israeli uh genocidal onslot on gaza that is uh for certain. when we see these types of uh incredible numbers of uh of arms deliveries, right? indeed, well, what about that? assad, do you think that the us should be held as responsible for the genocide as the israeli regime? yes, of course, biden should be sent to the
1:12 pm
international criminal court and his foreign minister and his administration, and also the congress, remember the congress received uh uh netanyahu. remember how many times they stood up, uploaded, giving standing ovation, dancing, you know, receiving in, in such a way which is so cheap to any human being and he was just telling lie after lie, lie after lie, and then he says, give us - arms to finish the job, and then give us the arms faster to finish the job uh faster, given the tools, the tools it is not only weapons. "the tools are weapons, equipment, espionage,
1:13 pm
hacking, uh, propaganda, economic war, political war, psychological war, participation also in the planning with the israelis, sending volunteers, sending experts, sending expertise, participating totally in this war against the palestinian people, and then the the..." job which he was saying he was planning to finish is to finish off the palestinian people, to kill them, to kill all the palestinians, not only in the gaza, he moved from gaza now to to the west bank and then lebanon and so and so forth, so i think we this is a full flid genocide and biden is totally with his administration involved and i think the... those war criminals, killers of palestinian children
1:14 pm
should be sent to the criminal international criminal court with the science leadership headed by netanyahu because they are, this is worse than holocaust, this what is being committed in gaza is worse still that holocaus with the most sophisticated state of the... are army, arms and weapons supplied by the most criminal country history has ever known, the the united states of america. well, evs, now assad talked about the united states and talked about the congress in your perspective, is there a difference between the democrats and republicans and their support for israel, mean does it matter if harris or trump uh wins in november concerning washington? support for the israeli regime uh, my answer that be, i don't
1:15 pm
actually no, it's an interesting question, because uh, it would have been the perception that obviously donald trump was extremist pro israel, he instigated the normalization process, the abraham accords and all that, move the us embassy, uh, so he and he's you know his adelson, well sheldon adelson and now his wife, the deceased billionaires uh giving hundred million dollars apparently in exchange for uh trump um uh willing to agree to the full annexation of the west bank, it's not exactly clear the details on that, but um so trump is and he's been you know he uses the word palestinian in the debate as a slur. he actually uses the word palestinian as a slur, um, so it's very extreme, but when you
1:16 pm
look at what biden has done, it's hard to to say that, how could it be worse than what biden has done uh over the past uh 11 months or so, so i don't, i don't know, i think that's a really an open question, i i think that most likely trump is even worse, but i would say there's a one or two% chance that donald trump, maybe it's a 5%. chance that donald trump will you know act on what he's sort of stated uh kind of off the cuff as donald trump is to say you got to you got to finish it off and you gotta this is bad for you and he said that to netanyahu a couple months ago i guess um so so trump does have this tendency to sort of um i guess speak a bit of the truth uh and and his own kind of bizarre way um so i would say that most likely trump would be even worse as incredibly bad as uh biden has been uh, but i would say there's a small chance that uh it
1:17 pm
might uh it might be different. now from the standpoint of those in the us who are appalled by what's been taking place in gaza, i don't know how you could possibly vote for for camala harris, i could have vote for the democrats, i can understand it in a swing state maybe, but in any all the 40 states that aren't swing states definitely vote for jill stein, definitely vote for the green part. or one of the actual opponents of this genocide, but i i really don't know if you know is, how could it be even worse than uh than holocaust harris or genocide joe trump, what's he going to? is you know, i don't know, it's going to be even worse, maybe, but it's been incredibly shockingly bad, so i said your your take on that, do you see a difference between the two major parties in the united states when it comes to palestinians and also when it comes to this genocide? you know, trump came with the deal the so-called deal of the century and he said
1:18 pm
jerusalem is the eternal capital of israel, and then he he said he... the embassy and then he denied all our rights and he wants to perpetuate our slavery forever and no rights for the palestinians. this is trump. now biden said that he was a zionist and israel were not there, they would have created israel, which means to create israel to den the palestinian people, and the aim of the... zionist movement is to ethnically cleanse the palestinian people through genocide, through other ways, so i think both of them are war criminals, whether he wants to kill you at night, one wants to kill you at night and one wants to kill you in broad daylight, so both them are criminals and this has been by the
1:19 pm
way the the american policy ever since trump throwman, troman was democrat and after 16 minutes of the proclamation of the state of israel he he recognized that and he denied all our rights and from totroman to biden the american policy always says that they are responsible for the protection of israel and encouraging israel to launch wars not only against the palestinians but against egypt, syria, jordan, lebanon, so on so forth, so personally... "i don't see any difference, because you cannot make any difference between two persons who are war criminals and they are committing and approving the same genocide against the palestinian people. okay, well evs, i mean it's not just the united states, but the europeans as well, i mean the eu is the second largest armed
1:20 pm
supplier to israel after the us, why, why is that the case, although we..." have seen a couple of european countries actually saying they would no longer um supply the regime governments like for example in spain, but we know first of all that germany is the number one supplier out of europe to the regime. yeah, the germans have supplied lots of weapons um and uh and they don't seem to be willing to uh to back away. uh, i think that's reflective of the very staunchly. israel climate in germany uh, it's it's the impart the way they frame it is, it's the uh, we you know we we exterminated european jury, so in in response to that terrible crime that we committed, we're going to uh help israel perpetuate a new uh uh crime, it's a very
1:21 pm
bizarre ideology, my government here in canada uh continues to sell weapons uh they claim back six or seven months ago they claim they stopped new permits uh yet there's about hundred million in outstanding uh sales that are ongoing and then just few days ago week ago it came to light that the us just uh contracted 50,000 mortars and fuses high explosives essentially from montreal uh firm to $83 million canadian contract to uh to his. and because canada has this unique uh arms relationship with the us where basically canadian companies are treated as if they are us companies and they get to sell directly to pentagon uh the canadian government is saying oh it's okay it doesn't fall under the arms embargo which was already a bit of a farse that they claimed going back since january um
1:22 pm
so at the macro level the european countries canada it's part the reason they continue selling arms to israel is because as was stated by uh my colleague here, it's it's a european outpost, it's a longstanding hundred year european outpost, and and but now it's basically north american outpost, it's a us outpost in the middle east, and those european countries uh, they follow, the nato countries, they follow washington's lead on on international affairs and so israel is using lots of weapons, obviously the arms companies also mentioned the arms companies like this, "this is good for all the arms companies and that's also very important part the us support for israel, mean this is great for arms companies, they're just you making tons of money, so the military industrial complex is very happy right um so..." so but but the it's it's a european outpost and effectively they don't i don't think they want, i don't think the government in germany or the canadian government wants more palestinas to be killed, they just do not
1:23 pm
care, the geostrategic imperative superceeds the basic humanity that basically everyone in the world, everyone with a little bit of humanity is pall, but the governments and the power structures they just don't care about uh palestinians uh uh lives. yeah, is mind boggling really. well, i said, i mean eves just alluded to this, your perspective though, would you say the winner of this bloodshed is none other than the military industrial complex? yes of course, and whether it is in the united states of america, especially in the united states of america, they want to to send and to sell weapons and to send weapons in order to kill more palestinians and not only there are to kill more. to kill more arabs, to kill more muslims and let me remind you that this is the strategy of the west ever since s beco
1:24 pm
you know agreement when they divided the arab world and they planted the state of israel state of israel and belford declaration, this is the the and probably let me remind you of an article which was written two weeks ago i think by the british prime starmer which he he said that they want you know to to keep that part of the world divided dominated by the west and to see israel and to keep israel as the super regional power and of course to launch more wars in order to keep the military complex of course to sell weapons because if there are no wars then there they will not s grobens, this is why they encourage israel, not only in israel, encourage also any other places, for example in ukraine, they give you ukraine in order to
1:25 pm
engage in in war with the of course russia, so this is the west, the west wants to dominate east and west, the middle east against russia, against asia against china, this has when has always been the uh policy the west which is dominated and lead by the united states of america and the policies i think in in europe and in the west is dictated and led by the americans and and most of them you know who are the nato which is probably which nato is also american as trump said himself this is american organization so they all follow america and they cannot say no to america. whether it is in politics in in wars and in the united nations, nobody stands against america and the united nations, all european countries
1:26 pm
follow the dictates of the american administration, okay? well, is we have witnessed so many first with this genocide, it's the first genocide being broadcasted in real time, it's the first genocide where the perpetrators actually brag in front of cameras about their atrocities, now is... leaders have openly said they must starve the population and have cut off food and water to the palestinians in gaza. all of this and so much more, meanwhile, the whole western hegemonic front continues to support the zionist regime. do you think that ultimately all these acts will lead to, at the very least the weakening of the zionist regime, if not the end of it, and the weakening of the whole western hejamonic front, which has delegitimized itself. his complicity in this genocide being shown to the world in real time. there is no doubt that the, mean, the
1:27 pm
the plan for the americans going back 10, 11 months was not to send to still be sending these large amounts of weapons 10 months later. that is a sign of failure, and i've stated this before, but it's the failure, the maximalist objective of course, was to drive. palestinians out of gaza, they haven't been able to figure that out with egypt and basically forcing pressuring egypt to do that uh, uh, that's not succeeded, uh, the they have and simultaneously they have not been able to defeat the resistance uh, and so they just keep bombing and they keep, americans keep providing the weapons to for more bombing, um, so that i think is uh, they there's a strategic failure on israel's standpoint. now also, there is a big failure in the public relations sphere, they have, as you've pointed out, they've discredited themselves, in not, i think the rest of the
1:28 pm
world, i think everyone in latin america and africa. and in uh obviously in uh west asia, arab world uh and in asia uh more generally, this is this is you know israel has looked horrible uh and the us has looked horrible for backing this and the other canada and others have supported this to light lesser extent have all looked horrible so that's big big uh problem uh uh now you know is this defeat of uh you know zionism done i don't i wouldn't go that far i think that's israel is still very powerful and obviously the us is still very powerful. um, but but this is definitely a big blow. now what happens with uh hezballah and iran in the coming days and weeks and also what happens if they still just keep being unable to defeat uh the resistance in in gaza and remember they they fired rocket that got to suburb of uh of tel aviv hamas yesterday the day before uh so so
1:29 pm
um, you know, i don't know, i'd say it's unclear where things are going, but this has clearly been a a pr disaster for israel, it's been, i mean everyone in the world with a bit of humanity, and and it's been a strategic defeat in a sense of the resistance is still there, and they haven't been able to ethnically clans gaza, now of course they have killed incredible numbers and they've made the place in large part unliveable uh, but they have not definitely have not succeeded in their... maxim uh, sorry to interrupt you, but we're out of time, i appreciate both of you being with me, i said, palestinian academic and activist out of dublin and eves engler, author and activist out of montreal, and thank you viewers for being with us on another spotlight, i'm marza hashimi, hope to see you right here next time, goodbye.
1:30 pm
