we engage with the responsible party a correction and may return to the previous condition after we that routinely with the illegal vending when to enforce around that. also, many the requests for barricades are at the request of another city department, n't generally provide barricades-we private entities. let me not the intersectiond mission is a challenging intersection on the weekends with a lot gathering and illegal vending and so being familiar with who requested my guess would have requested those barricades and they were certainly i am will follow up about the acce sidewalk, but the sidewalk in the photos, so we are always looking to have-to insure there is ada access for the way, but as you note, a huge crowd of people also is a have to try to manage those two

consent calendar.regards item h, the new fire contract modification. i want to know why thst to provide full mep design wanot included as part of the initial contract scope of work. it sewould have for is modification. >> tor. i don't know project manager ryer might to answer that question. i'm not sure why we were not able to that previously. co yes, certainly. it was regarding fire n. why the capital alternate cost to provide the full mep designs was not included as part of the initial contract scope of wor we are modifying to allow it today. if it was begin with, we wouldn't need to modify l i was asking. >> i will have to get back to
12:25 am
you wi apology we don't have that answer. >> thank you.will not-- >> okay. it seems project management may be available. >> great. thank you. >> >> i think it is good enough. voting for it.
12:26 am
maybe more info at the sep meeting. >> we can >> i'm not sure it answered my question, but it okay. it could be a more funds were available or something. ound to me like the-we include this alternate proposal at the presuming we were going with design build model and then was more prudent to go with this ate proposal, so that is why-it initially included, but we didn't go down that path initia more information why we felt it was more prudent to switch. >> might just add, taylor, in public procurements, it is quite common have when you put out initial solicitation, you that you ask all proposers to bid or propose on. there might be other scopes that at time of procurement you may be t might not have enoughund the full amount. there might be items you are
12:27 am
contemplating putting in them in what is called, additive alternates. sometimes +ythey might be--let's say a certain type of tile and scope you would have the basic run of the mill tile. your alternate might be something fancier and more expensare not quite sure whatfunding add alternate can be additional scope or they are put in to allow proposers give information, sometimes pricing on those alternates so that once project is awarded and you start the nding comes in and you can use if it is something you might add later, byat the time of procurement you get pricing and public proposal on if it is desiit might be the approach for that thing might be. sounds like sometimes they mentioned that is mechanical and plumbing scope.design build. much of the design is done
12:28 am
later. not to push that scope of into design build, but full design where you documents. >> thank you very much. that was a n. thank you very much.then had questions for open to i-m and o. these were some of development grant extensions.really is just one, is if two pit stop contracts, the trashcon steaming contract and streeteffect through july 31, 2025 so we don't have them next year for june, the month of hello deputy
12:29 am
[no audio] it sound it is overall problem we have a fiscal year that starts july 1 but don't get mid-august and that is a topic for another day why that is a proble commissioner turner. >>just want to-more of a around those samof discussion and also
12:30 am
want lot of progress and i want to make sure as we continue to really push forward our workforce development training and programming, i the background. he has done a tremwith deputy director durden to make sure we are clear of our and how impactful they are and how who are stewards of the funds. i want to emphasize our fiduciary responsibility and fiduciary responsibility to be good stewards, so this is a understanding, a budgetary kind of quag myer we best team every year, so i thank you. but i do these are significant increases and changes for these be accountable for and that is what i'll look fdo every day, but being dependent upo to make sure that we are very clear about our and goals and i'm grateful, particularly since it has been months since we really engaged and started workint improvement and the efficiency with the small small non profits. >> agree wholeheartedly.
12:31 am
my other comments, as we ask-as on asked for earlier, we look forward at the end of contract period for a full report next june on these the success, both from the department point of we invited them to come back so the contract for a full report how everybody thinks they are going or changed or not changed. >> thank you for that. post. we have director durden team and my team and have data and the analysis. i know friends of the urban forest is here.with [indiscernible] cyc and hunter point family, so i look forward producing that report and think it will be thorough and robust. thank you very much. commissioner zoubi. >> one question. were all included in >> correct. >> these increases are included in the 10 perthe 5 percent cuts that we presented? >> correct. delay. as we are working wi

12:35 am
my understanding, there is a i should say, disappointed there isn't bidders fwr this in the event there is a there is discussion of curb instillation, street resurfacing. strere is a bit in thsure that sidewalks are good and curb ramps and everything else are to speck. up is because, i mentshort set up meetings with me with city engineers. the curren driveways does not meet ada standard and so despite engineers told me drive anything else and heard here the design of the lip is and not anything else, the fact remains they are not and do not meet the standard set forth.going to be throwing millions dollars after a documents the scope does adjusting driveways to be ada compliant.me. mentioned again and again, riding down the street with things of small wheels to be constantly vigilant of the quality of the driveway are they regular
12:36 am
impassable with the current design and beyois acceptable and so it makes it very dangerous towe are legally allowed to do and dangerous to we are legally allowed to do because the t fort by the city do n cover our use of being a legally recognized vehicle class in san francisco. i understand this is like to see the scope of the project revised to inc driveway lips to be bevelethe ada in section we can actually see those made more accessible. >> your time is up. thank you. and we do not have other in and there are-no one raised their hand to speak that concludes public comment. >> thank you. if there are no more questions, all in favor ofconsent calendar say aye, or yes. it is adopted and the resolutions will the commission's website. senext item.

12:38 am
this is--under contract with public works and we provide consulting service management consulting ser to sfmta, and this is approval of their existing contract, which would make the amount thousand dollars and we'll extend the commercial and technical advisorservice through 2026, which is june 30, 2026. this is-qul think that my introduction of and request for with that, i am turning it over to [indiscernible] >> commission.
12:39 am
my name is chris, project director for potrero yard. just ground, this is the public private partnership that is part of a larger multi-billion dollar program that we are referring to as the buand this is the first of what we hope several projects to modernize cilities, improving our transit access to across the city, as well as allowing better meet our mandate to electify our fleet by 2040. talk about what that means. this improves efficiency.back up. potrero is a 109 year is our electric trolle it was originally built over a hundred years ago ilt for street cars, so it is highly are in a different age of vehicles and vehicles.
12:40 am
this project envisions not only to consolidelectric trolley bus fleet into this one fafor our operations and maintenancstandard for doing these types improvements at presidio yard and other yards in the future. of course, sustainability is also a key component, as i mentione achieving fully electric fleet our mandate, and so this helps us kind of dominos into achieving that. additionally, by improving facility, replacing it with a new state the art facility, we are able to increase the number of buses that operate this fuisility 80 percent. this says 54 but we e looking to increase that further and looking at joint deveway of also serving the commun just improving transit operations. here you can see a rendering of the ap there is
12:41 am
not just a bus facility here, but we include up to 465 units of affordablee housing on site. in fact, a portion housing that is slated we are looking to also have some preference for mta staff, incl maintenance staff that work at potrero which again increases efficiency, having to commute from long distances at hours and other partner transit agencies are you will see in the is along bryant street, there is the first phase of affordable is planned there. roughly a hundred units give or of affordable housing planned family housing at that take up the we are on the edge of districts 9 there are transit routes that operate out of potrero yard and i covered most of this
12:42 am
already, but again, this year old facility. it is alnot been seismically retrofited, so this is also a way building is also safe, well as community. the slide, briefly again about 246 electric trolley buses are slated for storage and site. that means we'll have ro believe over 800 staff that will be working on different shifts y not all necessarily be in the building at the time, but providing ample facilities for them and also this will house our futur so, again, as i alluded to, climate actioof this project. not just et and this does also meet by improving transit to those that need it the community.
12:43 am
this serves comm city, including the potrero and then affordable housing will actually be not will be two additional phases on top of bus yard, including both af workforce housing. we are looking at 465 total bedroom count of 776. fluctuations in the unit count throughout the process of the environmental review, and part of the reason for that bryant street housing was a senior housing development, which ded more units, but with the decision to to a the number of units did accommodate larger units, but to be consistent. a couple other things that one of the amenities planned for the new yard facility is
12:44 am
much requested public the adjacent franklin square well as several commercial spaces locally serving retail. and then improve ment to surrounding this block. in of the scale of our outreach, i think it is important to note that part of why we this project in late 2017 and in 2018, throughout the process, insured that public engagement and this project throughout the process.ue in fact, we have a neighborhood working group monthly brought up to speed on everything going on with the project and their input is again, incorporated throughout.developer that is present. the developer team both for the housing are also had over 150 for the public to be engaged in the project and ovide their feedback.
12:45 am
so, just showing where we are. again, we the public feedback process back in we first did an rfq for actual public private partner s in the project and ultimately did bring on potrero neighborhood collective which is spearheaded by [indiscernible] thbased in la, but part of the development team several local partners, including those eve enin the missisi supporting this effort, both in terms of housing as well as public outreach. ouand environmental review were approved by the board of supervisors and mta bord earlier this yoor, so we are release the rfp for design build contractor mately actually build the bus yard and so ng on schedule to bring that again to the board for the project fallowed by approval the design
12:46 am
contractor early 2025 and within 90 days we expect mobilize decommissioning the site, demolishing the existing truction and so we do anticipate roughly from beginning to end would be back online early 2029. i apparently didn't catch up with the slides there. where , thank you for your time and i'm available along with mag dulina for questions. >> thanvery much mr. lazaro. i do have questions. which should i do? i will start at the top. the covid transit ridership in the cthis project was started before the pandemic no one could have how is post use of the system and how has changed planning and design fwr
12:47 am
the project if it has? that question. my understanding rector jeff tumlin, transit ridership especially on bus routes rebounded nicely. i don't know we achieved pre-pandemic ridership accept a few key rount one example we exsided is south ness brt line. i think part of our strate improving ridership and achieving that it is by making these kinds of improvements fully believe efficiency and getting the vehicles on the streets for needed will definitely support that. again, i think we have been the trajectory of continuing to see ridership increase, esperoutes that operate out of potrero. >> great. thank you. good news. this project takes 12 years to find excessive. we always want to commend the outreach, what you excessive amount of meeting. this is a neighborhood activist
12:48 am
very important the public participate in city government give feedbac -qul i don't know if that is what thdemand, but sounds ment and could be effecting the timing of this project. i also wondered if back in the day your board ever considered bringing-delivering the in the reverse, where a housing expert runs the show.the city's housing delivery depa housing project where sfmta has the bus ore a partnership between an entity that knows how to build i deliver your expertise how-what a transit facility. that train i'm sure left the many years ago. 12 years i have been hearing about this owed it has been discussed a long time and on another 5 years. discussed being primarily a housing project transit project? >> great questions.le clarifications.
12:49 am
