he's over at the cal fire sonoma air attack base. this is where those fire crews are launching plans as well as helicopters. so, bob, break down what's happening now? well, marcus, this air attack began early this morning, and it continues at this very hour. as you can see, another air tanker just behind this bush is going to pull up here to, we believe, reload with fire retardant and then take back off to the fire. but this gives you a sense of the urgency, the fact that they have this air attack starting early this morning. they don't want this fire to grow any larger. this was the scene about an hour ago here again at the sonoma air attack base run by cal fire. this is just north of the sonoma airport here in santa rosa. when two air tankers, they landed, they pulled up to the base again where ground crews are reloading the aircraft with that red fire retardant that you see them drop on the fires. the pilots you can hear in the background, they keep their engines running so that they can immediately take off again. so they're only

well, we got new numbers from cal fire.rted within the past half hour that the point fire that's burning about seven, eight miles in that direction from where we're standing has grown to 1100 acres. it's not a big jump overnight. and they've also now got containment at 20. earlier it was 15. cal fire now says it's 20. this is video that came in overnight. you can see the flames burning in the hills here. northwest of downtown healdsburg. we're at where we're at. it is breezy. you can smell the smoke, but it's not not overwhelming. a hundreds of firefighters from across the region, they are now on the scene. two homes have been lost so far. firefighters have saved hundreds of others structures. however there are mandatory evacuations in effect for part of this burn area. the operator of a horse riding ranch above lake sonoma, she called off her riding planned rides yesterday when the fire started just after 1230 in the afternoon and, she hopes, hoping it continues, that the fire continues to move away from her property. as i

cal fire adds. you should also bring a phone or communication device and a sealed container just in case you end up needing help. ian cull nbc bay area news. a new way to try to stop home. break-ins san mateo county says it needs help from the community . it's called the residential burglary reward program. the goal is to encourage the community to help police catch burglars. it offers a financial reward to anyone who shares information with police that leads to the conviction of a burglar, district supervisor ray mueller said. tomorrow he's going to ask the board of supervisors for funding to pilot the program. he says burglaries create distrust in the community and that thieves need to be stopped when a criminal commits a residential burglary, they violate a resident's sense of security and safety, shattering the feeling of safety that a home is meant to provide. he says he hopes the program not only helps catch burglars, but also deters them from committing future break-ins. downtown san francisc
