central california. southern california gets downright just bad in spots los angeles basin. but the bay area, it is hazy enough outside lot of yellow out there today as we're seeing moderate amounts of pollutants, a building up out there once again. good news is i think we see a more significant sea breeze tomorrow and that is going to freshen up our air all around the bay area, the north bay, the coast, the east bay, the south bay, you're all in the good air quality, a position for tomorrow. >> looking good out there as high pressure kind of gives way and that allow for some not there to freshen up outside thunderstorms popping up over the sierra nevada. also a concern is that could start more fires in the high country. dangers for people out there to boy, it was just ripping out there this afternoon. just start to taper off a little bit as the sun getting ready to separate very active out there and likely an active afternoon again for tomorrow. the good news is we're seeing more fog and low clouds on the way. that's where we need. that can help to cool us down quite a bit

we're looking at 24 million americans under heat alerts in the west, north central, california, into the great basin. we're going to see temperatures soaring into the 90s, into the 100s. dangerous heat does continue. we also need the umbrella in many spots. we have the front stretching from the great lakes to the northeast. we're expecting the showers and storms, and we're going to see showers and storms the south central states, the southeast, into the carolinas and the midatlantic. it's a long stretching front that is going to stay putt over the next couple of days. that's today. as we near wednesday, notice the green staying in place. you see a little yellow. that's where we could see heavier downpours and the risk for flooding along the gulf coast as well. but that rain stretches into the northeast once again. parts of the great lakes, looking at monsoonal showers on wednesday into the four corners. sunny and seasonal throughout portions of the northern plains. then by fridayday morning, t weather three. two o. well for now, we're seeing comfortable temperatures with some patchy

so if you're traveling through central california, they've been seeing temperatures at 112. in areas like fresno, our friends in sacramento, even stretching down through la. also under that heat wave, really for the entire state of california. and i know i want to give folks some relief, but i want to be realistic here when i say this, when we're talking about relief, it's very minimal. our friends in san francisco will dip down into the 70s, very typical for summer. but look at the inland areas. so sure, we're going to go from 70s and 80s, but our interior valleys are going to remain in the triple digits all the way through next week. so we might see you know, 100 and something on saturday and sunday. and the relief is going to come in the form of upper 90s. yeah. it's tough spot there. it's going to be here for a while. so we talk about all these things about hydrating and etc. take them seriously. yeah. and we don't mean to scare folks, but it is the leading cause of death in weather fatalities. and that is across the entire united states. all right, vianey, thanks so muc

there were about 2200 customers throughout northern and central california at the peak. and by this evening, they will all be turned back on. we are monitoring other parts of the state at this time for the possibility of another psps. this would be further south, more along the central coast and central valley areas, not in the bay area. okay, well that's good news. potentially impact 6500 customers. and i know it's a difficult situation because it is an unprecedented heat wave, but i mean, you have to understand the frustration that people have right now. there have been multiple outages. it's not just today. they've been going on for a while. we talked to one person yesterday in danville that said they've had 22 power outages this year alone. people are frustrated about the rate hikes. people are frustrated about a lot of things with the utility. so how do you reconcile trying to, you know, mitigate all this with customers that are feeling that their frustration with the utility as an all time high, as they're sitting in the houses sweating? safety is our number one pr

a few lightning strikes right now, a little batch here through central california.s right now is tracking away from us. but we're going to continue to have that radar up and follow it through tonight. so let's take it through the forecast for tomorrow. and what you're going to see happen is this cloud cover bubble up from the south. now, right now it's not painting a whole lot for chances into tomorrow, but we actually could see a little bit bubble up here to the south of us and certainly over the sierra. and with the nature of these kind of thunderstorms moving in from the south, a lot of times in california, it can kind of break through that forecast model, and we may actually see more developed than what you're seeing right here. so again, be prepared for thunderstorm chances on saturday. and also right here as we head through sunday's forecast. again it's those hit and miss possibilities that could also have some dry lightning. so our fire danger will also be heightened this weekend. we're going to have the radar up and scanning. so you'll see as we head through

that's parts of the interior northwest, central california, also the great basin. we will see temperatures soaring into the 90s, even into the 100s so dangerous heat there. also watching chances for showers and storms, two fronts, one from the great lakes to the northeast and a long stretching cold front from the southwest to the south central states, part of the southeast into the mid-atlantic, the chance for heavy rainfall along that front and we will see the chance for flooding conditions throughout the south central states. this is why, we're going to see that front lingering over the next few days. still wednesday we are talking about that flood risk throughout the south central states and gulf coast, seeing where we could see heavy rain. looking at monsoonal moisture throughout the four corners, sunny and seasonable portions of the northern plains, central plains and upper midwest. by friday more green showing up on the map, looking atday morning, weather three. two one. well for now, we're seeing comfortable temperatures with some patchy fog and low clouds.

and you can see they stretch into central southern california. also including the bay area. now i can tell you tomorrow's temperatures. they're not expected to get up to 110 here in the bay area. and that's because we have this classic pattern setting up for us. even though we have the hot air. i mean, this is just really going to crank up the heat. moving towards california. we have the fog of the coastline, and that is saving us tomorrow from getting up to 105 and 110. we're still going to be on the warm side. but again, don't look to be in the most critical range. so as we roll through tomorrow morning's forecast, we'll begin on the warmer side. here with 65 in the south bay, 63 in the peninsula, and a few spots would be in the 50s like areas around san francisco in the upper 50s. east bay, right there at 64. as we head through tomorrow afternoon, those 100 are going to be isolated to the most extreme parts here of the bay area. well out towards inland contra costa, alameda counties, concord 100 livermore hundred close in livermore are morgan hill at 98, a napa 97, and sa

also, numerous fires showing up around much of northern and central california can see all around activees continuing right now. and of course, that heat wave continuing. that means we're likely going to see more fires, too. red flag warnings even want the offshore winds still posted just because the very dry and hot conditions around much of the bay area and the state. see those unknown parts of the north bay as that will continue through saturday and then a further south of the east bay. also the santa cruz mountains that continue to tell saturday as well. now we are getting a little relief as we see more of an onshore breeze. and that onshore breeze brings with it that a cool marine layer. unfortunately and not bring all the cool temperatures, the interior valleys, but there will be a breeze in the afternoon. of course, some of those gusty winds, if fire gets started, could leave the fast-moving grassfires humidity overnight. this is great news. 90 of the 100%. so really damp out along the coastline. but we've been watching with high pressure overhead. boy, it really just diminishes.

i mean, central california has seen highs of 114 116 into sacramento. so we really are dealing with dangerous heat. and unfortunately that stretch will continue into saturday and sunday. and yes, even into the start of next week. so i would like to make sure you are prepared. and let's take a look right now at where our temperatures stand across the bay area. because if you notice, we've still got triple digits in walnut creek. we're at 101 degrees. and then keep in mind that it might not feel gusty, but with just how dry things are, any sort of wind can quickly start and spread a fire. at this point, we've got winds from the northwest at about 14mph. oakland right now is at 75. san jose, still in the 90s at 91 degrees. and then at least in san francisco, we do have that lovely marine layer at 73. so when it comes to the wind gusts, there at 24mph, there's a bit more of a security blanket there. satellite radar. right now, the interior completely clear. we're going to keep this marine layer overnight into tomorrow morning for the coastline. but then we'

now started across much of northern and central california as those fires continue to burn the very hot temperatures. lot of the grass is very dry out there. things get going and red flag warnings remain in effect as we've got the dry conditions out there and the hot weather. the good news is we're not. so you see those real strong gusty offshore winds. we see those a sea breeze in the afternoon and that could blow those fires along if they're going already. but red-flag warnings up in the north bay continuing into the east bay, even the santa cruz mountains that's going continue until saturday night as it looks like. we'll see more of the hot weather again for tomorrow. then they're quality, not bad. back really. we've seen enough of the seabreeze to us and most of the plumes east of the bay area. so we look at most areas in the green here. that's where we want to be, of course, a little haze there in san jose and some of that iran as well. tomorrow. i think we're looking pretty good. we've got high pressure overhead, but still a general sea breeze and that will keep their quality good
