. >> reporter: four months after laci disappeared, her body and unborn child, a boy already named conner found washed ashore near where peterson said he'd been fishing the day his wife disappeared. he was arrested several days later. by this time, peterson had dyed his naturally dark hair blond and had thousands of dollars in cash, several phones, camping equipment, and changes of clothes when he was arrested, details that convinced those obsessed with the case that he had something to hide. >> he had dyed his hair because he was still trying to work as a salesperson, the media was haunting him, and he thought that would be one way to not draw attention to himself. then the cash was because he didn't want people tracking where he was spending his money. >> reporter: during a five-month trial -- >> what convicted scott peterson were his own words. his changing stories about what he was doing on the day that laci went missing, what he'd said to amber frey before his wife went missing, and where the body was found. >> reporter: while the defense claimed there was a rush to judgment. >> this

that's terminology from the california court, conner., on december 24th, scott peterson said he left the house about 11:30. he decided to go fishing, took the fushing boat, went out, came back to the house, she's gone. she was reported missing. several months later, that's when her body washed up on shore along with that unborn son, conner. obviously animals are out in the sea, but they washed up separately, close together, but two miles away from where scott had gone fishing. now, amber fry, star witness for the prosecution. she started dating him in november of 2002. she asked him, are you married. he said, no, i'm not married. my wife died. one month later is when laci went missing. she immediately went to the police when she heard this. the tapes were part of the criminal trial. now they're saying there is dna testing never done on this case. this could show his actual innocence. they are asking for a 15.5 inch length of duct tape that was recovered from laci peterson's pants when her remains washed up on shore. a 50-inch twine or ta

a day later, conner's remains, of her unborn child, washed up.nd it was two miles away from where scott peterson had gone fishing. i've got to mention an important witness, amber frey. she was the star witness for the prosecution because in november of that year, she had started dating him. she asked him, are you married. he said, no, my wife died. i'm single. now because of a habeas corpus petition, the innocence project to fund it has taken it on board and they are now asking for dna testing of -- here's just some of the items -- a 15.5-inch length of duct tape that was recovered from laci peterson's pants from the remains that washed up, 50 inches of long tape and twine tied in a bow around the neck of conner. but remember, she was eight months pregnant when she went missing. a target bag from where the remains were found, duct tape, a tarp from where the remains were found. so, they say that either these items were never tested -- so, you have brand-new testing that is needed -- or the s sophistication of the dna wasn't to the point. gloria a
