so, it's really a distinct pleasure to host him here at csic. i think this is your first time at csic since leaving the government. so we are very happy to have you here. joining us on the screen from somewhere tropical, it looks like, is ambassador, special adjunct professor of the faculty of law at the university in japan. he's former ambassador to indonesia and retired from the japanese foreign service in 2021 , having served there for more than 40 years. he's held many posts in government prior to his retirement. director of policy planning, special assistant to the foreign minister, director general for global issues and legal advisors. he spent time here in d.c. where he served twice london, belgium, and nato as well. and he was in jakarta for almost four years. it looks like you are still in jakarta, your backscreen there. in bali, maybe.
