today, we hope to reform the fda's approach. undercurrent fda standard, it can take 15 years or more for effective drugs to move from preclinical work to approval. in the meantime, many people have rapidly progressed to terminal conditions die, and have no viable treatments or hope available to them. one of the lessons from the neuron adcom there is no such thing as a so-called gold standard across the fda for how to approve new treatments for rare or fatal diseases. today's reality is whether a treatment will be approved or not, depends on what fda center it is in and specific individuals, assigned to a treatment. a second lesson is that the existence of the 2019 fda guidance is simply not enough to ensure uniform approval standards of new treatments for als. we barely unfortunately learned this lesson just a few weeks ago during the adcom when the question presented to the adcom did not incorporate the fda's own 2019 guidance about regulatory flexibility. the primary question was do the data presented demonstrate evidence of e

that means we are asking the fda or courts to send the fda back to the original regimen cannot bring the doctor back into the equation and reduced from 10 weeks to seven weeks. there are other lawsuits around the country, a bunch of lawsuits cropped up around challenging state restrictions in north carolina and even virginia, saying, do states have authority to challenge or restrict or provide more safeguards to women who take chemical abortion drugs that may be more stringent or safer than the fda has permitted ? if you can mail these drugs, can the state say no more telehealth? that has been challenged in federal court. can states restrict rugs more than the federal government? nothing else can happen. look at the west virginia case in particular. i think the fda failed the american public with regards to the opioid crisis. if the state of west virginia wants to protect its citizens from those drugs, can it do so? the state cannot do anymore to protect its citizens even though the fda has failed in that regard. the same is true here the fda is failing to protect its citizens. can s
