assistant administrator of the grants program from fema. mr. farmer? >> thank you, mr. mayor. pleasure to be here. i also would like to thank the conference of mayors for having this session and inviting us to speak. just going to do a quick overview of where we currently stand with the shelter and services program. the shelter and services program was first started in 2023 under the dhs appropriations law. the funding was provided to customs and border protection to transfer to fema for the administration of the grant. the department stood up an executive steering committee made up of many of the components of the department to be able to get a broad range of operational and grant expertise to provide for this. in 2023, we had two of funding opportunities that went out and awarded over $363.8 million. i know the bill had $800 million in it but we did provide the other funding through the emergency food and shelter program, humanitarian. this program was designed to replace that program. in 2024, we actually received a $650 million in the a
