health and certainly our first panel ever devoted entirely to the courts and their role. i don't think it's an overstatement to say that the role of the courts has never been greater in health policy and that's the topic we're going to explore today. you know, my recollection is that courts, of course, have always adjudicated differences and been involved, but when the affordable care act passed, we waited for more than two years just to find out if the fundamental challenge to the law was going to be successful at the supreme court and literally, the entire structure, which was the largest health policy change that we had made in decades, was uncertain pending the decision of nine people. so now we are a decade later and it seems to me that the role of the courts has just grown even further. much more knowledgeable about the topics than i are our three panelists and i'll introduce them. to my left is erin, on a panel with me an hour ago, from georgia state university about to move to the brown school of public health and next to her, professor of law at the texas school
