i'm janelle wang.g, scott peterson appeared in a courtroom via zoom for a status hearing regarding the los angeles innocent project's request to review his case. kris sanchez was in the courtroom. >> reporter: the hearing lasted just about an hour. there were three different motions at play. scott peterson appeared via zoom in a blue prison uniform. attorneys for the los angeles innocence project and the district attorney's office appeared before the judge. this hearing was to set a schedule for three different motions. both will return to court to discover whether discovery and dna should be sealed. there's another hearing to decide what's next for the additional dna and dna testing the defense is asking for. on july 15th, the judge will make decisions about all non-dna evidence the l.a. innocence project is asking for from the district attorney's office and law enforcement. the l.a. innocence project says they requested this and evidence back in november. the d.a.'s office says they haven't been told

i'm janelle wang. the south bay has a lot at stake in this election. the latest. >> reporter: voter turnout appears to be lower than we expect during a presidential election year. there are a lot of ballots to count, because a lot of them came in at the last minute. many of us held on to them until the very last minute. they have processed more than 182,000 ballots. election workers are still processing those vote by mail ballots that can come in for the next couple of days. even with that, voter turnout is not expected to break records. the 16th congressional district in which a former san jose mayor and a supervisor appear to take the two top spots, which means they will appear on the november ballot. they made it clear, they are satisfied with the mayor in san jose. he got nearly 90% of the vote. he has been in office for two years. he faced election re-election because san jose opted to align the mayor election with the presidential cycle. many voters may not have turned in their ballots early. they are okay with the vote by mail process. 92% voted

i am janelle wang. we have been covering this breaking news story on air and online for the past four hours to do a united airlines flight headed from san francisco to japan loses a tire right after takeoff. the good news is no one was hurt. it is amazing to believe we show you these videos. this is the airplane, united flight 35 taking off from san francisco around 11:30 this morning that it just moments later, you see one of the tires fall off the aircraft did what happened to the large tire? it fell on a car and bounced around and make employee parking lot near san francisco. amazingly, no one was hurt. the tire did come to a rest a few dozen feet away. you see it lying there with caution tape around it. now, let's show you where the parking lot is in relation to the runway. you can see it is just north of the runway, just at the end of the rain right -- runway. the airplane had to be diverted to lax. this is video of it landing safely around 1:15 this afternoon. no problems a very smooth. 249 people
