when i think about jfk promenade, they have so much joy. yes, it's definitely safer than it was before, absolutely. but it's also more joyful, whether you're roller skating, biking, walking your dogs, walking with neighbors running into your friends, it brings joy. that's where i want to take vision zero next. [applause] so how do we spend the next ten years making the city more welcoming for people to be out on the sidewalks and in their streets talking with neighbors and having a block party and listening to music and kids walking to school and feeling that they can be safe, we will always focus on safety. but i want us to focus on how we bring people together. because the street changes that bring us together are also what will make us safer. we will continue to work with all of you to imagine those space sxz reimagine what is possible. can you imagine if we would like look at places like northbeach where people can come out on the streets and sidewalks and enjoy their neighborhoods. even places like hay street where we know the sidewalk

promenade is a treasure.nces the parks so much. imagine a beautiful day in the park and weather on foot or on bike you are strolling down jfk, you pass sixth avenue and head to the music concourse for a concert or the museum; it is joyous and made golden gate park sproord. i have been hering about disk golf and pickle ball. can you tell us about and where people can practice and play. >> i knew you were going. pickle ball the fastest growing sports. you know across between 10 and is ping pong and may be with a whiffle ball. ping pong on a life sized course it is easy to learn about skill based people who are good are irrelevant good and it is easy to play. it is fun and accessible. we are trying to accommodate sport. we have over 55 courts around san francisco. 11 dedicated just for pickle balt others per pickle ball and tennis. we have 5 or 10 space you can play pickle ball indoors and keeping up with the tremendous popularity of the sport. disk golf has a loyal following it is also going to continue to grow

we established not only slow streets and shared spaces but jfk promenade! [applause] and isn't that a nice bike ride through the park and it feels so good. and we were the first city in california to reduce the speed limit to 20 miles an hour on 44 miles per hour streets and we are going to be the first city in the state of california to install speed cameras! [applause] so, if you get a ticket in the mail and you are like, what did i do? well, slow down the next time. the point is, again, this is not about removing cars, this is about safety on our streets for everyone. and, what more are we going to do? well, prioritizing daylighting at intersections city wide. expanding no right turn on red at intersections city wide. increasing parking control enforcement to ticket people who park on the sidewalks and block the crosswalks so that not just bikes can't get through, but people trying to walk and wheelchairs and others can get through. we have to do this in order to make sure that isn't anything goes in our city, so again, we can all use the sidewalks. we a

so this is the proposed new work for the golden mile on the jfk promenade. the first that we're looking at i'll be looking at the image of naga which a sea surf ant, 1525-foot tall sea cer pent, consisting of galvanized frame. the idea is to install the serpent inside the fall. to see the gothic rocket ship that is not the embarcadero. naga, the rainbow pond is three to four-feet deep and the rec and park department will be working with illuminate to install the sea serpent. this is an overview view. >> oh wow. >> this project is funded by lum nature and it's part of the park and rec part and public spaces finishes. are there any questions? >> thank you so much rebecca, yeah any questions or comments, commissioners? >> just one question about sea serpent will there be any lights in the sea serpent? >> there are no current plans to have the lights in the sea serpent. but i can take that to them. i know that rec and parks is requesting a two-year installation. >> is there any word on past installation, any option to extend past two years? >> i don't know that

in an area that i've been noticing repeatedly is right at the end of jfk promenade. when you get to that decision point of the car free space, do you go straight or do you go left and take the car free route that staff have so innovatively created all the way to ocean beach? and i'm out there a lot, and i just notice a lot of families like really confused right at that intersection because our signage says go direct to get to ocean beach, but it also says slow streets go that way. and it's just it's just so confusing. and i've helped a lot of families go, you know, there's a car free route come this way. and they go, oh, thank you so much. that's so helpful, and that just made me think about this question of signage as a way for people who are less, you know, are newer to bicycling, newer to our city, have come to coming to this world class destination. we've created, get around and navigate. and so i just wanted to raise that up because i find it confusing. i consulted my 17 year old informal youth commission advisory member. she finds it very confusing, and would l
