[ laughter ] as they say. >> reporter: dorothy was born and raised in san francisco's chinatown. she says she got her nickname from a boss she had as a teenager who had two dorothys on his staff. >> he finally said, okay. you are polka dot and she's giant dot. and that's how it got started. >> reporter: i feel like you get the botter of the two options. dorothy said for most of her life, she lived relatively traditionally. she got married, moved to livermore, and became a mother. but then in her 60s, she got divorced and moved back to the city and quickly started to gain a fol
