let's get over to kristen holmes right now. she's got some new reporting coming in. does the trump team reacting, kristen? so in terms of the trump team, the campaign, the political arm, donald trump himself, we haven't heard, but we have heard now from donald trump's lawyer in the fulton county case, steve sadow and this is what he said. he said while respecting the court's decision, we believe that the court did not afford appropriate significance to the prosecutorial misconduct of willis and wade, including the financial benefits, testifying untruthful about when their personal relationship began, as well as willis extra judicial mlk, quote, church speech, where she played the race card and falsely accused the defendants and their counsel of racism will use all legal options available as we continue to fight to end this case, which should have never been brought in the first place. so obviously he they're saying that they are going to continue to fight. they're likely to issue some kind of appeal to this. >> i >> do want to say one thing about donald trump, his te

let's start with kristen holmes. so kristen, what else did the former president? >> well, anderson, what do you took to the stage? you really repeated what we've heard pulling from a familiar playbook that he's been doing since 2015 when he announces first presidential bid and said that mexico was sending over drop bugs and rapists, he stoked fear and he used rhetoric linking immigration and violent crime. and this is something, again, that propelled him to the white house in 20 he's 16 and also really helped build a base that we now see that surrounds and props up donald trump. but today he's really trying to reach people outside of that base. he's hoping that this message is going to help them to the white house again in 2024 take a given that polling that we have seen that you mentioned, that shows that immigration is the number one issue for voters and the biden's approval rating on the issue is very low. hello, much lower than donald trump's was. but one thing he didn't bring up, despite the fact that he continued to say he alone could fix the border or that

amara and danny all right kristen holmes. thank you very much joining us now, a cnn political analyst, seung min kim, good morning to sung-min. i was good to see you. i'm just curious what the reaction has been. just amongst lawmakers and people in the republican party. i mean, you heard there kristen holmes saying, look, it's unsurprising think because as we know, when my pencil is running for the republican nomination, he was critical of donald trump, but also in some ways it is a bit surprising, knowing just how unwavering his support for trump was up until january 6. and of course, this trend as well, where we've seen the rivals of trump all lining up against behind him >> right. i mean, i like to think of it as surprise. not surprising, but actually stunning. if you step back and think about the fact that this is a former vice president refusing to endorse his former boss. this is a longtime figure in the republican party that is refusing to endorse the republican standard bearer for the nomination, especially at a time.

we have cnn's paula reid and kristen holmes here with me. he and paula reid. what just went on in there is incredibly significant because the judge was essentially questioning todd blanche, who was trump's lead attorney here over this argument that they've been making about the discovery of these materials and was basically saying, well, used to be an assistant us attorney in the southern district of new york's office. you know how this works completely and you could have asked for these sooner but you waited. >> yeah. the judge clearly skeptical of the idea that somehow the district attorney's office is at fault or guilty of prosecutorial misconduct because the defense attorney did not subpoena these documents until january, but i want to stop you for just a second because while you were just talking our colleague, carrie chris canal reporting that an appeals court has ruled on this bond issue. we know the former president was he had to post over $460 million today. and we've learned that a new york court of appeals heels has given trump ten additional days t

kristen holmes. thank you for that report. >> worse, let's discuss with one of donald trump's former attorneys on this case, tim parlatore. tim, thank you so much for sharing part of your afternoon with us. essentially, the goal here for trump's team in one of these motions is to hang this on an interpretation of the presidential records act. i'm wondering whether you would have taken that approach oh, there's no question that'd be any competent lawyer would pursue that. there is precedent from the from the clinton administration that president essentially has unfettered discretion whether to designate something as a personal record are presidential records. so the question of whether that extends to classified documents or national defense information is something that hasn't yet been tested. so i think any attorney would at least make the motion but in this case, it's not just about the kind of record. it's the way that he in his view, designated them declassified just by thinking about it or just

holmes. kristen, what are you learning about an upcoming trump trump fundraiser? >> yan hearing from campaigns versus that they are expecting to erase more than 33 million. now obviously this is an enormous sum and we will be waiting to see what actually comes out of this fundraiser. it was one that we had reported on before. it's happening april 6 with some of the biggest names in the gop. and these are donors, many of whom had sat on the sidelines during the primary saying they didn't want to get involved. we're really trying to find an alternative to donald trump now, they are getting behind the former president that includes the mercer family, that includes oil tycoon, harold hamm as well as hedge fund founder john paulson among many others. now, again, this is coming from the campaign. it's also coming out on a night that joe biden and his team are saying that they plan to raise more than $25 million. so we will wait and as we get closer to this fundraiser to see if those numbers are acc

let's get right to cnn's kristen holmes kristen, what did pence say? >> well, this is both surprising and unsurprising at the same time, there was a lot of speculation as to what vice president for vice president mike pence would do when it came to donald trump because of their fraught history between both him being the vice president and the trump pence administration, and then also their breakdown over january 6, there was a lot of speculation that vice president pence mike just not say anything at all, but he in fact was unequivocally clear that he would not be supporting former president donald trump in this cycle. take a lesson >> donald trump is pursuing an articulating an agenda. but is at odds with the conservative agenda that we governed on during our four years. and that's why i cannot in good conscience endorsed donald trump in this campaign. >> somewhat interesting, given that, look at what exactly he's putting this on, say, and then donald trump is not a true conservative that he's putting forward an agenda that is not a true conservative

see this, kristen holmes is joining us with details. kristen, what do we know about the current talks involved? thing the trump team and manafort? >> well, we are told that manafort is being asked for at least in discussions to help with the republican national convention. now it's not clear exactly what he would do. one source telling me that it could be related to fundraising, but multiple sources adamant that nothing had been decided yet. they also tried to step away from the idea that he'd been the part of the official campaign, mostly just highlighting that he would be part of the reelection effort. now, again, just to note who paul manafort as he was one of a number of people who served as head of donald trump's 2016 campaign, albeit briefly before being charged with financial crimes later. and then as you noted, being pardoned by the former for president, and i am told that this is all being done at mostly the request of the former president who has said time and time again, he wants to bring manafort back in that he really likes

kristen holmes. thank you so much. let's discuss with cnn political and national security analyst, david sanger, david victor orban has become something of a darling of the maga, right what is the significance that he's coming to the united states? not asking for a meeting at the white house. the white house not offering an invitation but he's meeting with former president trump. >> well, if he got if he can, the united states the chances that president biden would want to see him are probably pretty small so or ban is, as you heard in in that good report, an authoritarian i would not say that he has the kind of widespread dictatorial powers that putin has. he has significantly repressed the media that would go after him he's a model that you've heard donald trump admire many times as he has admired putin. you'll remember that right after the invasion of ukraine, president trump's first statement was, well, this is an act of strength and so forth. it he didn't immediately react to the invasion of another country and go

let's bring in cnn's kristen holmes, who is here in the studio with us. kristen panic mode in trump world. what exactly does that mean? >> well, panic mode really applies to the bond here because that is where donald trump is trying to scramble constantly to figure out what he's going to do. and they really don't have any ideas how they're going to handle this and they are just four days away. now, when it comes to the campaign, they actually did see an increase in their fundraising but in the big picture, there is still significantly lagging behind joe biden. so let's take a quick look at those february fund raising numbers. if you look at that, trump's campaign plus the joint fundraising committee raised about 20.3 million. that means they'd $41.9 million cash on hand. now the increase comes in january. they only got $10.5 million, nearly doubling it there. but then you look at joe biden's numbers, $53 million, just in the month of february. and they have 155 million dollars cash on hand. we've talked to trump's advisers. they say he's the incumbent. we

cnn's kristen holmes is joining us now with more on all this. so kristin, could this be enough to help trump catch up and match biden's cash reserves >> well, look, we're going to see the actual impact of these fundraisers until the financial disclosures at the end of next month, but it does seem highly unlikely trump could actually catch up to biden in this short amount of time. i mean, by the end of february, biden's campaign had $71 million cash on hand. donald trump's campaign only had 33.5 million. now, if you just add what they got out of these major fundraisers, or what they're expecting to get biden would still have a significant lead here would be $97 million to $66.5 million. now of course, that does not include everything they are raising. it doesn't include any of those small dollar donations you're just talking about two significant fundraisers. one thing to note about that $33,000,000 number that came from the campaign. they say they are expecting to raise it, but obviously we're going to wait and see what happens. they they gave t
