lamalfa: thank you, madam speaker. our forests are in crisis. we must act with urgency on managing them and make them more fireproof. the past few years my district in northern california devastating wildfires cause and effects of the campfire where 85 people lost their lives, the dixie fire which consumed one million acres. they are not just statistics. they represent real people, homes lost, entire towns disappeared. yet punt pfunding alone will nol not be enough. we need more tools and authorities. we need categorical exclusion that is will help move us into the forest quicker, more broadly, more effectively. pace and scale needs to be dramatically increased, especially on federal forestlands. the 2024 farm bill promotes active forest management. yes, the farm bill. because the usda has the forest service aspect in that bill as well. we need to do much acceleration of the process if we don't want to continue to see the west burn year after year and put the jobs back into the forests where we used to have them 40, 50 years ago. the 2024 farm b
