maria: good monday morning, everybody. happy new year to you. i'm maria bartiromo. it is monday, january 8. your top stories 6:00 a.m. on the east coast. today, congress back to work this week as we kick off this, the first full trading week of 2024 which will include fresh data on inflation. futures are indicating a decline at the start of trading. the dow industrials rights now down 195, nasdaq down 36 and s&p 500 lower by 10 points ahead of the december cpi and ppi reports out later this week. all this after the markets began the new year in the red, we continue to see the selling this morning following big gains in 2023. last week the dow industrials were down half a percent. the nasdaq was down 3 and a quarter percent and s&p 500 lower by 1 and-a-half percent, kicking off 2024. earnings season is on the way with the major banks setting the tone, kicking off fourth quarter earnings this friday. i'll be speaking with jp morgan ceo jamie dimon tomorrow morning ahead of it. join us for that exclusive interview coming up as banks set the tone for the year. we're wat
