naomi ruchim joins us now with the latest on this investigation.ood morning. >> reporter: good morning. and that little boy remains in the hospital this morning as investigators try to piece together a motive for the shooting. joel osteen's lakewood church is the third largest mega church in the nation. despite this tragedy, church leaders say it could have been much worse. shortly before the 2:00 p.m. spanish worship service on sunday police say a woman wearing a trench coat entered lakewood church in houston, texas, and started firing. the shots heard here on cellphone video sent worshippers running as police say two off-duty officers confronted the suspect fatally shooting her. >> she had a long gun and it could have been a lot worse. but they stepped up and they did their job. i want to thank them for that. >> reporter: the woman had a 5-year-old boy with her who was shot during the ordeal. he's now in critical condition. a man in his 50s was also shot and wounded. >> shots like a boom, something like -- how you say like -- yes, like a pistol.
