that's basically santa rosa, western napa county. and those areas, they received immense amount of rainfall in that supercell or that very strong thunderstorm. pardon me. that severe thunderstorm. and so they have ground saturation for sure. so any more rain that falls is going to pool up on the roadways. so with that in mind we've got the wind advisory stays in effect as well. and then we've got a high surf advisory that continues out along the coast and in the mountains. a winter storm warning that is having them chain up on 50 and 80 as we go through the night and all day tomorrow, it's going to be on and off, so the mountains aren't going to get much of a break. this is when all said and done, the mountains are going to get a huge amount of snow easily 2 to 4ft between now and wednesday. not to count the foot and a half they've already gotten. so it's going to be a real producer for them when i come back. we'll line up tomorrow for you and get you going forward into the rest of the week. all right, bill, thank you. >> well, today

and some of these storms like we just had in napa up in napa county, 50 to 60 miles an hour. so and it's sea level. so the showers now are widely scattered. the heavy showers that severe thunderstorm warning. this is the area that produced that severe thunderstorm warning. and it's moving off in this direction. so you can see it came out of the santa rosa area yountville vacaville and has moved on, but not before it dropped a significant amount of rainfall. and really made it some tough driving with really high rainfall rates out by vacaville, we got some heavy showers. not i don't see any thundershowers in here, but you know, they're just winding down and tomorrow is going to look a little like this. now we're going to see you keep the umbrellas handy as kind of the key there. and we're going to see very similar to kind of what we had today, but with less oomph. in other words, the dynamics are going to be similar, except there's not going to be as much fuel and moisture. so we shouldn't see as much rain. we shouldn't see as many clouds. we should see more breaks. we'll see

or than 50,000 napa county residents still do not have power. reporting live from napa i am jodi hernandez , nbc bay area news. >>> in the southbound -- southbay the same thing. there were power outages leaving close to 400,000 pg&e customers in the dark. some people have been without power for more than 24 hours. let's go to marianne favro. >> reporter: some people had to get rid of all of the food in their fridge. this is one reason why we saw so many power outages in san jose. the winds were so strong that it took out this huge tree and others like it and ended up coming down on power poles. snap. this is 70 foot pole was no match for the gusting winds that whip through the area and now a daunting repair job is underway as crews worked to remove a damaged power pole and replace it with a new one. >> this is a historic storm. we had wind gusts up to 89 miles per hour. the damages expensive and significant. we had two different circuits that were impacted here. >> reporter: more than 100,000 customers were without power and this afternoon more

with the light to moderate rain, some might to heavy downpours making their way into napa county. we have another band of slightly heavier rain lining up from marin county and then extending offshore. this will sweep through san francisco and the rain continues to fall in the santa cruz mountains but it has not overcome the barrier of the santa cruz mountains. that rain shadow effect is in full force right now. here is look at the loop. you can see the rain surging in from the west. we will see this coming out in the next few days. two asked does show the rain taking a break but it will be a generally wet and progressively colder weather pattern . starting up the day with scattered showers tomorrow, the most widespread and heaviest rain is likely to shape up by friday evening, continuing to friday night. it is something we will watch out for on a localized basis. it will be a wet day on saturday, giving way to more off and on showers. we will be tracking those off and on showers for the second half of the weekend. let's take a look at how much rain we can expect. we have the rain
