the national governors association, they are excited to lean into this and we are ready to go. we received 600 companies, the biggest and the smallest. the brutal reality is the significant majority of those companies expressing interest aren't going to receive funding including many excellent proposals by strong companies that are worthy. the reality is, and i've said this many times, the reason for the problem isn't struggle a bunch of money out to as many companies possible even though that would be easier. our job is to make targeted investments in relentless pursuit achieving national security objectives. for start announcing big announcements, i want to reiterate that, that is the purpose of our effort here. at the outset we said we would invest about $28 billion of the program 39 billion incentives for leading edge manufacturing. i want you to know leading edge companies alone requested more than $70 billion so that means we have a lot of tough conversations. we are engaging in the spirit of collaboration and they have been incredible partners. i think i'm obsessed with

governors association winter meetings. news. am spoke with the president, vice president and other national leaders. they discussed california's issues of homelessness, immigration reform and the tijuana river sewage crisis. the governor's also discussed security at the border . >> what we don't want is people who don't qualify, clogging up that system and causing six seven year delays for those who have legitimate legal. ability to be here. so that's really been a focus of the discussion between republicans and democrats in congress. those asylum reforms would be a big plus for the president. >> urged all of the governors in attendance to put pressure on their congressional representatives to support a bipartisan bill on border security. the president says he is exploring executive actions he can take to address issues at the border, but there is no timeline yet on when that could happen. >> steve kerr has signed a two year deal with the golden state warriors, making him the highest paid coach annually in nba history. the

governor newsom met with white house officials as part of his attendance at the national governors associationgton, dc at the discussions, newsom said he insisted that fema honor its commitment to fully reimburse california's local governments for expenses to shelter our homeless people during the pandemic. fema says its reimbursements were meant for two weeks of stays, not months or years. newsom says he also expressed interest in working with the biden administration on a number of other key priorities, including better support for people with complex behavioral health needs. >> our time is up. 439 a massive avalanche at mount shasta over presidents day weekend formed this 60 foot tall wall of snow. just look, the mount shasta avalanche center says the snow slide started around 12,000ft up the mountain in what's called avalanche gulch. it ran for more than three miles at its end, the 300 foot wide avalanche had fallen almost 5000 vertical feet and left walls and walls of snow. despite the big size, though, the avalanche did not threaten people or or structures . >> it's definitely out there
