first accident around 11:40 last night, an oakland police officer was headed on eastbound highway 24 in orinda when they lost control of their patrol car just past wilder road and crashed into a pole. that officer was taken to the hospital, he's expected to be okay. chp and opd are investigating. a chp officer told our photographer on the scene they believe the rain overnight did, again, play a role in that crash. then around 1:30 this morning, there was another crash at the same location, while opd and chp and the tow truck driver were working the first crash. two cars traveling eastbound highway 24, they collided. one of the cars ended up on its side, partially on top of another oakland police vehicle. this was a vehicle that had been responding to the first crash. the tow truck driver tells us he was almost hit by one of those cars. >> i seen two cars collide, one kind of went up the hill and came back down and landed on the officer's car. just passed me, and, i don't know, just a crazy accident. >> reporter: the fire department helped the driver get out of the overturned car. he was able t
