. >> well, we're joined now by former metropolitan police detective peter bleksley.'ve just seen unrest for a second night in a row in rochdale over this. what do you make of it? >> yes. there's a lot of heat being generated by this story. and in many regards i can understand why when i first saw the footage of the officer kicking a man and stamping on him, it was ghastly. it was ugly. i've done as much as i can to try and source other footage and get some kind of back story to what went on, so that we can apply to what went on, so that we can apply some context, but unfortunately that's not forthcoming. we're getting stories and accounts, none of which i think are entirely reliable, shall we say, for the moment. and i think it would be a great help if greater manchester police released some of their body worn video from their officers that perhaps will paint the picture from the start of this incident, right through until the very unseemly ending of it, so that the heat can be taken out of the debate. people can get the backstory, get the context, and maybe things w

let's talk to former police officer oliver laurence and former detective peter bleksley. a policing career ? career? >> yes, definitely. without a shadow of a doubt. whilst modern policing has its challenges and i must tell anybody that's thinking of joining that don't thinking of joining that don't think it's all about cops and robbers, good guys and bad guys , robbers, good guys and bad guys, because the uniform front line unfortunately spends a lot of time dealing with people in crisis, whether that's through alcohol, drugs, mental health, relationship breakdown, all of the above, and much more. but it is still a job where you make a difference every day to people's lives. and the diversity is astonishing once you've been in it for a while, you can ride a horse, be a dog handler , be an horse, be a dog handler, be an up horse, be a dog handler, be an up firearms officer, investigate murders, be a be a diver , and murders, be a be a diver, and search rivers and lakes and all those kind of things are much, much, much more so yes, you'll work with some great colleagues. y
