i was just in republican conference meeting and there is such a great feel amongst house republicans. we are not only union nighed but energized ant part of the reason for that is our members were allowed to go home to the weekend and do district work and everyone met with constituents, most everyone got to go home at least for a couple of days and they came back with reports about the sentiment that is felt out on the grassroots among the american people and not just among republicans but amongst all americans, what happened is we went 3 weeks, everybody watched it. you all walked through that valley with us but we came out everyone stronger. i'm telling you right now this work is ready to govern and we have begun in earnest. i referenced this last week before i took my oath of office. what we stand for are the principles of america. i call it 7 core principles of american conservative but as i said from the chamber it's really america's principles. it's individual freedom and rule of law, peace through strength, fiscal responsibility, free markets and human dignity. these are the id

republicans hold the state house. and youngkin is going all across the state selling his vision and pitching himself to voters along with his vision saying it you'll send a complete republican control to the legislature, we can get this agenda done. it's now up to the voters. do they want to move forward with that, or do they want some checks and balances. democrats here in the state of virginia looking to hold on to the state senate and even expand into the house as well. and key to all of this is that potential 15-week abortion ban. right now it's 26 weeks in virginia and it's worth noting that virginia is the only southern state that's not pursued further restrictions since roe wade was turned. glenn youngkin tried to do that, but the democrats stopped him. that's whey he's going to voters and pitching this. but he's really talking about a whole host of issues. police reform and also public schools, but in the end, so many of the adds and what democrats are talking about is abortion. so we'll be looking to see how

we got trounced last night in 2023. >> republicans listening to those voices, and it is true -- republicans keep losing. you heard the list there. i won't repeat it. if you go back to 2016, more voters went against donald trump as well. it was just the electoral college that got him into the white house. numerically this keeps happening. those candidates you saw there are starting to at least admit some of the losses as a fact. remember. that we'll return to that point tonight. but right now as we begin the newscast i want to be clear that even against that backdrop, some of the republicans are trying to sell a version of what is this losing trumpism in their current campaigns. while the fact is voters in ohio, kentucky, and virginia bucked maga. they voted ensure abortion access in ohio, elect a democrat in deep red kentucky. democrat got both houses of virginia. much of this democratic turnout is a backlash to maga in general and republican abortion plans specifically. the elections and then this often tense debate last night shows something that i want to reflect on with you tonight. tha
