robert foxworthy of cal fire really appreciate your time tonight. thank you sir. >> thank you. >> well, firefighters have their work cut out for them really all across the state. want to go now to calaveras county firefighters. they are battling a fast moving wildfire near the community of copperopolis, around 40 miles east of stockton. now, this fire is called the arrow fire. it began earlier today and has already exploded to more than 900 acres. it is 0% contained. evacuation orders are in effect. firefighters say the strong winds making it a bit difficult to establish those containment lines and a massive brush fire has forced hundreds of people out of their homes in los angeles county, the post fire has burned more than 15,000 acres and is 20% contained. the fire is located along interstate five near the grapevine. the flames engulfed part of a parking lot near the freeway, burning several vehicles, but the road remains open. about 1200 people in the community of gorman have been ordered to evacuate because of this fire. the fire started saturda

i'm gonna bring in captain robert foxworthy with cal fire here. talking with us and joining us this morning. can you kind of just tell us where you're at right now, what the next steps are for today? >> so currently as of this morning, we're at 1100 acres, 20% contained. so like you kind of touched on, the crews did fantastic work overnight, put in a large amount of control line, basically kind of stopped the forward progress of the fire overnight. and we're hoping that those crews can continue to put that strong work in. and we don't have any additional growth of the fire throughout the day. >> we've got one here in sonoma county. we've seen several others in the east bay, one large one burning down in la, a lot of it also just kind of coming up this past weekend. can you kind of talk about how this weekend maybe speaks to what the rest of this fire season might look like? >> so we've been pushing this message for a while now. we received considerable amount of rain over the winter. and with that, we have a large amount of grass and fuel that's a

joining me to more talk more about it, captain robert foxworthy with cal fire.again for joining us this morning. and as you have been updating us throughout the whole process here, some really great news and some really great numbers to hear today. >> absolutely. so, we're at, 1207 acres. so just a slight up from yesterday, but that wasn't due to any fire growth. that was just due to better mapping and the bigger number that everyone's wanting to hear is we're up to 40% contained as of this morning. >> even with the better map, i mean, 100 acres in a single day where we see where we saw this thing grow, almost a thousand acres in a single day. i mean, can you talk just a bit? what what firefighters are doing specifically to make sure this thing doesn't actually grow as fast as it did? >> so the crews are out there working incredibly hard, biggest thing is continued to strengthen , control lines. so basically, the lines that we have in make sure that they're good and all the hot spots on those edges are put out. and then in areas where we still need containment l
